My favorite coffee roater and bar in Paso Robles because the coffee is smooth and flavorful. In addition to coffee they have teas and limited selection of pastries. They have both hot and cold and blended drinks.The ambiance is relaxed with music 🎶 playing in background that does not drown out conversations. Lines are long in the morning but the taste of your drink is worth the wait.

This is a cute little coffee shop. The staff is welcoming and service is quick. We tried the spiced butterscotch latte which was super delicious! And cardamom latte which was yummy too although the cardamom flavor was very subtle. Lastly we tried the jalapeño cheese scone which was good too. The latte art they do is absolutely amazing and beautiful! Nice coffee shop to work as well, they have plenty of seating available. Def recommend!

Coffee with nice latte art! A very popular shop as you can it’s loved not only by the locals but also tourists. Nicely roasted house blend which compliments the sweetness of the milk. A slice of chiffon cake to perfect to go with the coffee.Highly recommend!

My latte was delicious. Flavorful and silky. Great espresso. What a relief after a subpar latte the day before in Atascadero.The line was really long, and I wouldnt say it moved quickly with one person taking orders. But they were super friendly and we werent in a rush.Id definitely go back.

Hubby and I ordered 2 cappuccinos and 2 scones. Cappuccinos were flat with no foam and the scones had so much leavening, they were nearly light cakes. We wont return.

Excellent coffee shop in downtown Paso, just off the main square. Fantastic latte art, great coffee, cool vibes. Gets busy but it’s worth the wait. The baristas use measuring cups to prepare the beverages so everything tastes great! I got a vanilla iced latte & it was yum! happy camper!

Nice coffee shop with plenty of seating. I might have not tried the right thing, but the Aztec mocha was just okay. The flavor balance was a little off but, again, that was just one menu item. Also if you want to grab a bite get there early - the pastries run out before noon. If you want a laid back place to meet up with friends this will do the trick.

Zero stars. cant judge by anything but the service because while their listed hours say they are open, they closed at 4pm today. nevermind that i walked up at exactly 4pm and the girl at the back door said that if the front is open then we could still order. i was in line at the counter and they could have served me or been the least bit apologetic... there were still customers inside. but they decided instead to just tell us they closed. not even when i entered but after i got into line and waited a bit. hands down worst coffee service ive ever experienced.

My nitro cold brew and my husband’s latte were both good however the service left a lot to be desired. They were clearly very busy and from first getting in line to getting our two coffees was a 40 minute wait. Not worth it if you are just looking for a quick coffee break. One lady was actually quite upset with her wait time and ended up leaving without her drink. The one barista just laughed which I found off putting. The shop itself did have a nice vibe.

I wish I can give Zero stars. We had an extremely racist encounter with the barista. First off when we got to the counter the girl was just giving a blank stare and I had to say hello. Then we ordered and asked for an americano with steamed half and half on the side. She acted like it was absurd and said she had to charge it like a latte. I asked her why and said because its labor intensive to steam half and half . I have never heard an excuse like that in my life. I have no problem paying extra if she had just said milk is extra. But to give an excuse that steaming milk is more labor intensive is dumb. Just say milk is extra and have a good attitude and maybe smile and my experience would have been perfectly fine. The entire time she was not making eye contact and looked miserable to be serving her. Then we sat down and the next customers she started smiling and being friendly. I have visited this coffee shop on multiple occasions and by far this experience was horrific. Clearly she had a problem with us being brown since she was very friendly to the guests behind us. I really would like to speak with the owner regarding this racist experience we had here.

Spearhead coffee shop was a perfect way to start the day with a coffee beverage of your choice and a yummy piece of bakery. They roast their own coffee so it always tasted good and fresh. The shop is a nice clean large space with tables inside and outside, so you can get your order and sit down for a little bit to enjoy your brew.

So happy I stopped here for coffee! I tried the Aztec mocha (which is my all time favorite drink and I’ve rarely had one outside of New Mexico that I’ve enjoyed), but this spot delivered! I found that the coffee is super smooth here, and all their drinks seem to be well thought out. I can understand why it has a line, it’s very good!

Definitely order the Miel! So good -- creamy, not too sweet, and a great pick me up. The machiatto was also excellent. It was very strong, lovely bitterness, and aromatic.The atmosphere is very laid back and chill. The interior is bright and trendy. Not a ton of seating options, but still a good place to grab a table (if you can) and work. The prices are fair for the quality. Definitely one of the best coffee joints in Paso Robles.

The line queued to the back of the roast kitchen when we first arrived so we walked around the nearby 3-4 blocks in search of a replacement and couldn’t find a place with the baked goods+morning coffee combination. We returned 20 min later ans the queue was gone. The pumpkin spice chocolate chip muffin was delicious. And I never do the floofy espresso drinks but the Aztec (spicy) mocha caught my attention with the cinnamon and cayenne so I gave it a whirl. No disappointment here.

Visiting family in Paso and needed good coffee in the a.m. This place was great! Around the corner from where we were staying so each morning wed walk there. Not bouche or pretentious. Just good coffee. Staff nice and helpful. We wanted to buy a bag of beans to bring home and asked what the grind and prep would be best for the beans, the the girl went and actually got the guy who Roasts them, Max (I think). So glad we asked. We wanted to make the coffee at home according to what the roaster prefers for it. Super cool guy, got to talk about his process etc. They roast in house. we bought the whiskey infused beans. a 12 grind pour over at home- awesome brew, you can taste a hint of that sweet whiskey oaky bourbon in it on the nose.Later Max gave us a sample of anew blend he was working on. We finally tried it this a.m. because he said its fresh roasted so wait a few weeks to use it. SO GOOD, think its a fave! Max, if youre reading this... dude, make bags of this! Its a go!Totally recommend this place. Great coffee all around!

I watched staff during an incredibly busy morning rush and they maintained excellent service and attitudes, I was very impressed. The girl running the counter was kind to everyone.Small suggestion, color code the bathroom keys blue and red, and put a larger sticker on the door saying blue key etc. While sitting in the back working I saw a number of people attempt the locked door and then stand waiting (which I then prompted them to go get the key 😄)

This is truly a *quintessential* community institution. Plenty of seating for those who want to relax a little after picking up their morning goodies. Great quality drinks, and for me a decaf drinker, a truly exceptional decaf right up there with the best of fully caffeinated coffees! And oh my goodness their choices for accompaniment is simply incredible! Had a lemon poppyseed scone which was both classic and refreshing at the same time, The Earl Grey scone, but could have easily tried one of their rotating fruit versions, either blueberry the one day or raspberry the next. The decor is wonderful, the merchandise was also quite attractive… Attentive and patient staff considering my multiple questions (hahaha but for real). Perfect morning stop on your way to wine country! Really not much more that you can ask for! A+

Quality control issue. Waited in line for ~10 min, I’m sure the coffee is good, because the staff is nice and cookie is amazing... but opened coffee cup to find shards of plastic that clearly came from the top they use. I would have drank it all but I went to dunk cookie in the coffee.Maybe I shouldn’t use the tops... does it affect the awesome coffee?? I dont know.. all I know is I dumped it out and drove somewhere else.

Went to this coffee spot for the first time this morning and enjoyed our experience. Staff was friendly and the aesthetics of the interior of the establishment were warm and inviting. Ordered a pour over 12oz cup of Tanzanian Peaberry coffee and absolutely loved it. Go check this place out if you love coffee and are visiting Paso Robles.

This is a cozy little coffee shop with polite and inviting staff. They offer pour overs, which is what attracted me to this place. The Ethiopia pour over was not as robust as I had hoped, but there were other options. My sons loved their chocolate chip cookies it seems to have a lot of foot traffic on Saturday mornings.

Nice atmosphere! BUT!! The coffee was either burnt or just a bitter roast. I only drink coffee and cream so having a good roast is important since you cannot hide the flavor with sugary coffee mixes. I was also surprised when the person at the counter offered me a cup to take some half and half with me for a fee. And when I asked for cinnamon they had it in the back and had to add it for me rather than having it out as a condiment. Not a Starbucks fan but this place could learn from their business model of service. Again nice place with room for improvements. Best of luck.

If you have an obsession with coffee like me then come here. They roast beans in house and have lots of different varieties that is sure to hit your palette right. I was able to pick up some very fruity/floral Ethiopia and sharp/bold Brazil beans. They even have great nitro cold brew which I don’t make at home so it’s more of a reason to come in.

Everyone is great and the place is adorable. But I’m here for coffee, specifically espresso. And the espresso is super bitter. They are probably using beans that have fruit hints and it is super bitter - just a guess. Don’t recommend. Sad. Was better a few years ago. They need to use dark beans.

They make the best Aztec Mocha Ive ever tried. They add mix of spice that adds a unique kick to the drink like no other. It has the perfect ratio of caffeine to spice to keep you awake during long road trips. I always ask for extra spice which results in a smooth burning sensation when drinking it (like drinking a nice whiskey). Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this coffee house. Has a new era feel, with a homey modern atmosphere. I am so glad we have a great coffee place to choose from. We are overrun with Starbucks and I am glad to say that Spearhead knows what good coffee is and how to make it. There coffee is smooth, delicious, and not overly powering. Love it. Firstly staff were not very friendly ordered our coffee and I looked at screen and she had put wrong order asked for it to be corrected.Order wasnt called out so coffee sat on side waiting. Whoa...the Aztec Mocha coffee is spicy, chocolat-y, bold! But NOT burnt up!! Loving this blackberry scone, too! Big windows in the kitchen allow patrons to watch the pastry chef prep and create oatmeal blueberry muffins, scones, and roast the coffee. I have loved this place since it opened and still do. However, its beginning to look more and more like a chain coffee shop (one that shall not be named, but starts with s and ends like ducks?). The whole part of its charm was that it was a traditional coffee house with their own modern/contemporary twist while satisfying my inner need to support locally owned & operated businesses. You werent bombarded with the additional need to market various products and you simply got well made, freshly roasted and brewed coffee (and the teas are pretty good, too!). They still have great coffee (and tea) and I understand the need to expand in order to diversify and attract customers. So, as long as the coffee stays delicious, the customer service stays stellar (love the guy with the beard and glasses) this place will continue to be five stars and I will tolerate the additional products and marketing. Its good to see that its become pretty popular!

I travel a lot for my job, and frequently check out the local coffee shops. I dont usually leave reviews, but this coffee shop deserves one. I ordered the mocha which Id highly recommend. Most coffee shops make their mochas too sweet, but these guys know how to add just enough chocolate to compliment the coffee. My wife ordered the Aztec Mocha. They add cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne pepper in addition to chocolate. It was surprisingly good, although I dont think Id make it my regular drink.If you are traveling through or live in the area and havent visited this place yet, give this coffee shop a try. It wont disappoint.

This is definitely the best coffee shop in town. All of the drinks are made professionally and taste amazing each time. The menu is simple, and they know how to make every drink really well. This cute little shop looks very modern and inviting. The staff were all super cheery, helpful and nice. It was a bit of a shock to hear that our 2 black coffees totaled more than $7 but I guess that is what you pay in a speciality shop. Our coffee was served extremely fast and hot so we walked down to the park before having our fist sip. The roast was aromatic but very bitter so we were disappointed with our morning cuppa Joe and neither my husband or I could finish our cup as it was not appealing! We were passing through so probably will never be back.

The place is clean, the staff is very friendly, and the environment is perfect to sit and enjoy coffee. The coffee is another matter. The coffee was hot and has enough caffeine to wake you up. The flavor is unique as it is acidic with a robust, almost too much, fruitful aftertaste. You get used to it after a few sips.

The iced mocha latte I had this morning was perfect. Just the right amount of chocolate and milk and espresso and ice. I love drinking from glass or ceramic over plastic or paper cups, so ordering it for here gets me that experience as well. The place has a very open, airy, spacious feel and the location is ideal, a block from the park and many downtown businesses.

Nice people, great atmosphere, fantastic coffee!Spearhead Coffee popped up near my house in 2014 at a time when Paso Robles desperately needed a decent and affordable coffee shop, and it was immediately obvious that Spearhead was going to fill that void as Pasos new coffee shop. So I began skating 5 blocks every morning to get my morning joe at this new cool place, with its modern decor, friendly service, and most importantly, great coffee; and pretty soon, the place started becoming more than just a coffee shop for me. Every single time I go in there, I see at least 3-5 people I know starting off their morning at Spearhead, and I can think of plenty of people I know now that I actually was introduced to at Spearhead. Its a nice open space with plenty of seating, small tables in the back if you prefer a more private, quiet start to your morning, and a large table with plenty of seating in the main area if you are in a more social mood. Ive since moved to the other side of town, but I still make a point to stop in regularly for the great coffee and to say hi to whoever I run into. If you are visiting Paso, its a very short walk from the Paso Robles Inn, and the perfect place to meet some locals for some tips on how to spend your trip. Its also right next to the downtown park, so you can grab and go for a nice morning walk around our beautiful downtown. It really just boils down to this: Nice people, great atmosphere, fantastic coffee!

My wife had the Miel coffee with a third shot of espresso and less honey. I went with the pour over. The Miel was good, however, despite my wife asking for it to be less sweet it still was on the sweet side. My pour over was delicious. Coffee was bold and had a great flavor. It went well with some Brown Butter cookies we picked up on our way to Spearhead. The young lady who helped us out was friendly and helpful.

Very nice coffeeshop, good drinks, friendly staff--but unbelievably un-COVID safe. I was there yesterday (2/17/2021) and there were three unmasked customers inside. Staff was masked but made no attempt to ask the customers to put their masks on. One person was sitting inside working at a table, and the other two were in line behind me. Very scary and unsafe. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone--I havent seen anything like this since the beginning of the pandemic. Spearhead needs to prioritize the safety of its customers and staff!

I really appreciate Spearhead, best coffee for sure. The one and only complaint I have which I have discussed many times with the crew is the loud music. I have a difficult time focusing on my thoughts, my internet work, and conversations with friends. Perhaps having the background in music I do, my age, and the fact I live in the mountains of Big Sur with a view of the ocean at 3200 ft and NO neighbors inters into the picture. Good coffee houses use music as ambiance background not a concert.This is the only complaint I have and it may not be a problem with you. Staff is great, management are like ole friends who actually miss me when I am on the road teaching school and Spearhead is my first stop when I arrive in Paso Robles Ca.

This is strictly for their non dairy mochas.Ive stopped here a few times when passing through PR, and I need to like.. not. Hence the review.While its great they have a selection of non daily liquids, theyre best described as nut waters. Very low calorie liquids that wont froth and have no body or flavor.. including almond breeze, which I believe has been challenged for not having enough almond product in it to actually call itself almond milk. One review site likens it to water logged cardboard.Over seven dollars with a one dollar tip and im left with something that tastes strongly of corn syrup over any other flavor.Maybe its your bag, but ill try the other place in town next time. Or just not get coffee drink.Suggestion: oatly, and califas barista series are great for non dairy coffee drinks.
