Great Price & Exceptional ServiceMarch 19, 2024My heating unit wasnt functioning as it should. Hot air wasnt coming out of the vents and the unit was making a strange sound. I called my normal HVAC company and they sent a technician who said my blower motor wasnt working and the major bracket holding the huge heavy motor wheel was cracked. They took my old motor to a shop to see if it could be repaired. It couldnt be repaired so they gave me a price to replace the blower motor and bracket. I wanted to compare pricing from other companies. I called Southland as they had serviced this unit in 2015...their sticker was on the unit.I told Erick from Southland what the problem was. He stated the wheel was too heavy and after years of use it caused the bracket to crack causing the problem with the blower. I needed not just the blower motor and bracket but a new wheel as well. Plus a new capacitor in addition. And the complete price was much less than my normal HVAC company and that price included the blower motor, the bracket, and in addition a new capacitor along with a new wheel, AND a four times longer labor warranty.I gave them my OK and a few days later Technition Michael came out and did a perfect installation. He also made sure my Nest Thermostat was up and running properly.I couldnt be happier. Thank you Southland Heating and Air Conditioning for your excellent service and pricing. And a shoutout to others at Southland that I talked to; George, Lorena, and of course Dave Molina...all extremely professional. I highly recommend you.

I recently had the pleasure of working with the air conditioning company to install a new unit in my apartment, and I must say, the service was excellent! From the initial consultation to the final installation, every step was handled with professionalism and efficiency.The team arrived promptly and was incredibly knowledgeable, answering all of my questions and addressing any concerns I had. They worked diligently to ensure the installation was done correctly and even took the time to clean up after themselves.Not only am I extremely satisfied with the quality of their work, but I am also impressed by their customer service. Great experience with Southland Heating and A/C. Ray came by to evaluate the job. he was very knowledgeable and thorough. He was more thorough than any of the other companies I receive proposals from. When it came to choosing a company, I went with Southland heating and air because of their thorough proposal and knowledge of the project. I had my furnace and air conditioning system replaced. On the day of the project, the crew showed up on time was very neat and organized and completed the entire project in one day as promised. I highly recommend this company.

Southland Heating & AC is wonderful! Christopher helped me out with broken AC at my moms home and was so kind. He made sure to explain exactly what was wrong and the options we had in repairing it. He explained the steps of the repair to my mom which made both her and I feel very confident in the work being done and in Christophers skills. First time using Southland, they where helpful, courteous, and insightful on my furnace issues. They were able to pinpoint the issue quickly, and identify additional areas of concern. My furnaces is working well now.I also appreciate that they gave me all the info and estimates for asbestos removal, replacing my duct work (which is a bit of a mess because its an old house), and installing an a/c. They did not push to upsell me, which I really appreciate, and just left me with that info for the future.The pricing seemed very fair and competitive, and they said they offer 0% financing which takes a lot of the pressure off of these left field home repairs.I really recommend them!

Southland initially installed my Nest thermostat. When my my heater broke and my regular HVAC guy was unavailable, I called Southland. They recommended switching to an electric system as natural gas prices were rapidly rising, and took care of all the rebates I was entitled to so the cost was almost 1/2 price. Then, I needed to move the location of my a/c. In order to not invalidate the warranty, I called Southland for the move. The employees and owner, are extremely helpful and nice, and make every effort to work with you. Although probably not the cheapest around, they do stand behind their work and Ive been very happy with them. They continue to maintain my unit and have become my new go-to!

The quote I received from them was extremely competitive; in fact, it was considerably under several other companies I met with. The installation process was quick and professional. Great service by a great team. I initially signed up for the tuneup special but two days before my appointment my furnace started acting weird. So they arranged that I would either have a service call if they fix some thing or a tuneup checklist if they didn’t instead of charging me for both. After a new filter was put in the problem went away! I love these guys. On time efficient polite can’t say enough.

I originally gave this company and Eric Hernandez a 5 star review. Now I am changing this review.Southland first visit told me the condenser fan motor is defective. A new one from Carrier May cost from $850-900 but he will check price and get back to me. With this high cost, I wanted to check how much the electric motor should be on Amazon. It was $150 on Amazon. The motor was mounted by four screws and takes less than 30 minutes to install. I decided to DIY. Southland quoted $650 to replace the motor.Once I installed the new motor, the same problem occurred. Fan would not turn when the compressor was on. With a little push on the fan, the motor will run. So I decided to research this further on internet. Everyone suggested the most likely cause is the capacitor. Eric Hernandez, the technician from Southland said since the capacitor looked fine from outside so no need to check it, it must be the motor.I purchased a new capacitor from Amazon for $20 and installed it myself. The a/c is running perfectly now.Be very careful when working with Southland. At best this is sloppy diagnostic by Eric Hernandez. At worst, this is not a reputable company. This could have been fixed with a $20 new capacitor. David, the owner told me that buying from Amazon is very questionable on quality, they buy from Carrier. I can assure you that Carrier does not manufacture electric motors; they buy from several motor manufacturers such as Genteq, a former GE Company.

The technician, Carlos was professional yet friendly. He bought protective booties to wear while inside my home. He checked every dispite having to cross over 4 walls outside to reach the unite on the roof. He finished in less than 15 and gave the working unit a thumbs up for working perfectly. But David was great explaining the system, checking what we needed, listened to our questions and concerns better than most, got us great rebates and later a tax credit-all making it easier to afford what we hope will be a great energy saving system for our home. Phenomenal service, but SLOW rebates. Southland Heating & Air Conditioning replaced my old furnaces and AC with two heat pumps. From the initial visit to installation, they treated me like royalty, ensuring every detail was to my liking. And their prices for Trane heat pumps were very competitive, with the tax credits and rebates available.However, thats where they lose a few stars. There is Tech Clean rebate and a 3c-Ren rebate for heat pumps, both submitted and processed by Southland. Dave Molinas estimate was 8-10 weeks for the Tech Clean rebate and 8 weeks for the 3c-Ren. My heat pumps were installed Nov 9, 2023. The Tech Clean rebate arrived Feb 16, 2024 (14 weeks after install). I am STILL awaiting the $3,904 3c-Ren rebates today (May 15, 2024), more than six months after install. I had been waiting to receive the rebate to write their glowing review, but that glow has faded with the 4 month delay on a hefty rebate.Another minor gripe is that one of the heat pumps is a fully variable unit, but it was installed incorrectly with the air handler and only output low airflow. When I notified Southland, they came out and fixed it ASAP at no charge, but I would expect the company to send the person with correct expertise to install the equipment they sell.

I read all the comments but totally disagreed with the negative comments. Our experience was fantastic. We needed a replacement on some heaters in our home and a partial replacement for one. The service of JW plumbing and heating was great. They showed up on time. They covered all our floors and stairs to avoid damage. They were diligant, courteous, and communicated well. JT was the primary person and he was a real gentleman who took his time to be sure I understood everything. If I wasn’t retired I would have made him a generous offer to work for my firm because few people have his interpersonal skills. My wife an I couldn’t be happier. Even after the work was completed, a different employee was at my home waiting for the LA City inspector to arrive. David has a kind of laid back approach that some might not vibe. He used paper and pencil, he did minimal fussing about, he knows his stuff. He won’t over inflate the situation, or over inflate prices then come in with discounts to “wow” you. He’s quick to reply to questions or concerns, via text, email or phone. The company did not reach out when my maintenance was due. I had to call them. Appointment was made, then they canceled it. Another appointment was scheduled and they wanted us to change the time (we couldnt due to other obligations). Then when they came for that appointment they were outside the agreed appointment window (early). If you want ou business, keep better records, keep up on maintenance schedules, KEEP THE APPOINTMENT YOU MAKE WITH THE CUSTOMER.

Jose Bolanos is Professional, personable and goes beyond his normal just changing filters. He even went up on the roof and checked everything out. He worked efficiently and quickly. Left zero mess. I originally was impressed by Southland Heating and Air. They gave me a fair quote for a new HVAC heat pump unit. When the contract was given to me to sign, it was for a lower efficiency unit than was originally quoted. That should have been a red flag. They finally agreed to the original quote for a $400 incease. The installers worked all day installing new ducts and a new unit. The next day, I discovered they had not cleaned up and left debris and pieces of insulation all over the house. The final problem came when they scheduled an inspection with the city of TO. The inspector made it clear he would not pass the install based on the fact the company had not installed a catwalk or kneeling platform next to the unit. After some private conversation between the inspector and the company representative, the inspector signed off but made sure I knew he would not sign off for me and that I would have to install the catwalk and light. I contacted the company to address these issues as I could not imagine they would bid a job that would not pass inspection. After 6 weeks, they have been silent on the issue and it is now my problem to install the catwalk and the proper lighting.After posting this review, I was called by the owner of the company. He apologized for the misunderstanding and offered to make things right. I appreciated his personal involvement and his sincere effort to rectify the matter.

Southland was my best and most comprehensive bid. I worked with Ray who was pleasant, polite and very professional. He had endless patience for a lot of questions and spent a lot of time with me to understand our needs and concerns. The installation was complex and they worked overtime to get it up and running in one day. They came back later and meticulously fine tuned the airflow and temperatures in every room. The whole crew was friendly and knowledgeable. My hat is off to Ray, Albert, Chuck and Jaime.6 month update. I needed the airflows to various rooms rebalanced after we used the system for several months. There was some confusion in scheduling the right techs to do that. In the end Jaime and an assistant came a did the job very well and quickly.

I found Southland a couple years ago when our AC system went out and stopped working. They were very professional, efficient, organized and effective. Most recently through the heatwave, we had them come back out to inspect the system and complete maintenance. The technician Chris, was super professional, personable, provided clear information as to what was needed, how he would be addressing the situation and communicated next steps. He went above and beyond and provided pictures and video as to what he uncovered and provided a recap to me and my wife. This just goes to show the level of support and professionalism Southland has and is a company you would and should want to do business with. I’m grateful to have found them.

I usually dont post reviews but I had to in this case. This is a testimonial to the incredible professionalism and knowledge of Christopher Wilkenson. I contacted Southland after and online search. I was a bit nervous because I did not have a personal recommendation from anyone however I was in a bind and needed SEVERAL units serviced & deep cleaned across 2 properties.Christopher was exceptional in both his communication and in his ability to go above and beyond and solve the many issues we were having with our mini-splits. One unit seemed destined for the scrap heap but Christopher defied the odds and got it working!We elected to have all of the units deep cleaned by Christopher, which was well worth the price and I believe has substantially extended the reliability of these units. The odors emanating from the machines immediately disappeared. I asked Southland to inspect our air conditioning to ensure all was working well. Communication was great, Pedro was friendly and professional. He inspected the rooftop unit and repaired a small drainage leak, then cleaned our secondary mini split unit. They quoted $89 for the inspection, and that is what they charged. Was a great experience and I highly recommend.

Southland installed our AC around 2015. We hadnt had a maintenance check since 2017 because of Covid. Finally called them and made an appointment. The service person did not call 30 mins before arrival as was mentioned during appointment, but he came within the time period promised. He was professional and courteous. He didnt carry the right size filters so he went out to purchase them. Very good customer service. Will use again.

I called Southland AC to schedule service as my unit started to shut off during extreme heat. After a few questions, Sherry informed me that I was also eligible for a LADWP Nest Thermostat program which was awesome because I had an older thermostat and could use a new wi-fi one.Their technician, Sev, arrived exactly on time and was very courteous. He explained to me what he was going to do, asked me a few questions and off he was. Exactly two hours later, and after spending probably around an hour on the roof in 100 degree heat, he came back saying that its all done. He then connected my phone to the new nest wifi unit he just installed. And, he also fixed a missing wire which was prompting my unit to shut down in extreme heat. The unit was fully optimized and fixed to work through this season and many more (my unit is about 10 years old and I was worried Im going to have to get it replaced now).My system works like a dream now! Im so happy I found Southland and wanted to say thank you to Sev. By the way, he was very gentle with my 3 dogs and 2 cats. I didnt have to put them away as he worked on the property which was a surprise. Southland installed my HVAC a few years ago. They did a great job and the system has been working well since. After being away, I had an issue with my thermostat. When I called, they scheduled the repair immediately. They gave me a few hours window for arrival. The technician advised when he was about 30 minutes away. He fixed the thermostat and there was NO charge!!! Yay!! He had all the details and let me know it was under warranty. Heating and air conditioning business is very nasty, there is a lot of incompetent people in this business. I know that because as a home owner with unreliable equipment I learned that hard way. ACs fail, and you need somebody to fix it, and there is lots of dishonest people that are in that business just to take advantage of you, to make money; they take your money and dont care what happens next with you and your equipment.This is why when I decided to replace my failing AC/furnace with a Heat Pump, I did tons of research and I evaluated more than 10 local businesses and received 5 different written proposals. Southland was not the cheapest offer, but I liked their overall value proposition and overall professional approach to the project. Roy is a very knowledgeable guy - one of a few I met during my journey. (Some of the Sales Managers Ive met were so unprofessional they blindly were saying things I knew werent true.)Did the installation went perfectly? Well, the technical portion of the job was performed very professionally, I was amazed with the meticulousness and the speed of the installation, and the overall quality of work. There were some challenges with the electronics and programming of the equipment, that does not look to be companys strong side. But the company made every effort to resolve all my concerns, they involved Trane technician when they felt they needed more expertise, and they worked with me until successfully resolving every single one of my concerns. This level of consumer focus and dedication is unheard of in AC industry and deserves an applause.They never tried to upsell me anything, their pricing was always straight and made sense, there wasnt any hidden fees; they always had a technician sent to assist me if I had a concern or a problem. This is opposite of what dealt with in the last 10 years. My air-conditioner stopped working and I had asked 4 different HVAC businesses to tell me what the problem was. All 4 said I need a new HVAC system in the region of $10k to $14k. We had the pleasure to work with Matt Walker to design and install our new heat pump system. We met with 8 different HVAC contractors before we settled on Southland. They hit that sweet spot of price, quality equipment, expertise and amazing communication. Matt was also very collaborative in the design process. My thermostat went blank after a power outage. I called to have a technician determine if it could be fixed - but it couldn’t. Robert, the technician, said the controller wasn’t produced any longer but he will try to find one for me. Where can I start? This replacement of my ducts from below my floor to above in the attic is still going on. It started around the 4th of July and is now the day before Thanksgiving and still not completed.Granted, the initial work was completed satisfactory but my job required the ordering of two custom linear vents. Those vents were not ordered after I selected them in June, and when they were ordered it dragged on and on. Nothing proactive occurred to get me those custom boots. Just waiting. And waiting.I called many times to get updates. Finally after much chasing by me they said they had everything ready to install.Instead of installing they came with two vents expecting to have everything ready to go or so they thought. Wrong. They needed to install the custom boots for the vents, and cut out the drywall to get ready for the vents. No crew was sent to do that. So now hoping that after my 10th or more phone call they can straighten it out.To sum up if you need something simple they can handle it, but if your job requires anything that is customized, Head for the Hills.

I am extremely impressed by all the folks at Southland. Ray came to our house to give us a quote to replace our 30yo rooftop packaged unit after the heater failed. We wanted a new system with the furnace in the attic and the condenser outside. Without saying much to him at all Ray was able to identify all the problems we were having with the AC and heater and how they could be addressed when we replaced the unit. We got 4 bids—3 including Southland for around the same amount and 1 a bit lower. But Ray spent the most time with us, seemed the most knowledgeable, and wasn’t pushy at all so we wanted to work with him. Pedro and his crew were able to install everything in one day a few days after we agreed to go with Southland.We did not have much use for the system for the first couple of weeks after the install but cold weather arrived and after running the heater for a few days, something failed. I called Southland and they sent out Michael Laxner the next day to take a look. Michael and Robert Alfonso figured out the problem, which required ordering a replacement circuit board, and then Robert came back a couple days later to install. Robert was very friendly and totally committed to fully understanding why the board failed and was able to find the source. System is running great now.I highly recommend using Southland and will sign up for their maintenance plan based on the level of service I received.

We were looking to have our 3 mini splits repaired, and after a bad experience with our last company, were really hoping Southland could finally fix our units.Robert came out the same day I called to take a look, and instead of pumping dye to find a leak like the last repair company, he took out his electronic leak detector, and state of the art equipment, and got to work. He expertly explained the problem, showed us pictures, and gave us an estimate. We are currently experiencing very high temps in our area, so I was thrilled when they could come back in less than a week.Robert and Michael came out to repair the units together, showed up on time, and are absolute sweethearts. They clearly explained the $180 annual contract to me, which I signed after meeting their technician. He had exactly the right filters on his truck with him, changed them out and serviced our add-on electronic particle remover filter, the Trane Clean Effects. I signed the contract on an up to date i-Pad which transmitted the doc electronically. Before he came, I got a text that the tech was about to arrive, and a simple follow up survey to ask how he did. I want to share with everyone my amazing experience with Southland. When I was first shopping around for a complete new system I had multiple vendors give me proposals. Southland by far was the best deal there was. I personally do commercial property management and I know that cheap price is not always best. The things I look for is product and work guarantee. Matt from Southland identified all my needs and made sure that the proposal he gave me was just want I needed. I just bought a house and needed a new cooling/heating and new ducts all one the house. His price was reasonable and the best part is that they have a really good guarantee and know that in years to come I can rest assured that I am covered. When the day came, they finished ducting my entire house in just one day and they cleaned up after themselves. The crew was extremely friendly and have nothing but good things to say about them. My experience was great because unlike the other vendors, I knew that he was not trying to rip me off and made sure he met my families needs. Our heater stopped working over the weekend.It has been very cold at night even though we are in March. The company representative Cherie ( Not sure of spelling). She was amazing! Got someone out right away to fix it. They had to order a part and come back. Technician Michael was amazing! He came in wearing a mask and booties - safety. He had to go up into the attic. He was so wonderful took photos for me and showed me exactly what the problem was. They were great keeping in touch and getting the part in right away. I asked to have Michael come back. I live in a condominium complex in Atwater Village and Southland had installed a system in one of the other units. The owner said that they had done a good job so I got in touch with Dave Mercado. Dave was professional, knowledgeable, very easy to get in touch with and very patient. After a couple of months of waiting for my refi to go through, we scheduled an installation date and the entire system, with eight holes cut in my ceilings and all new ductwork was done in a single day. There were a couple hiccups at the end but everything was handled very quickly. Alberto, the lead guy for the installation day, and all of the guys working with him were very professional as well and Pedro Orellana was terrific taking care of the final details. Overall, Southland is a solid company that does high-quality work on difficult jobs. I should also add that Dave was on top of rebate programs and I’m expecting to get about 17% back on the job.

I originally selected this site based on the Yelp reviews and the certification status. That being said, I still think that some of companies have bogus/incentivized reviews. This is not this place. I’m a stickler for professionalism, and they literally went above and beyond. From the onset of the initial phone call to schedule an estimate, I was impressed with their service. Once booked, I received a text message alert to confirm the details of the appointment. On the day of, I received a phone call an hour before the technician arrived. I then received a link to track my technician with his full name. Next, the technician was polite, forthcoming, professional, explanatory (without being patronizing), quick, and efficient. The initial service fee was the lowest when compared to competitors, and the total was far less than I had anticipated. Finally, I received an email when my service was complete, and I was able to follow it and pay electronically. I am ecstatic with them and have bookmarked them for all future needs in the L.A. County (and Ventura County, possibly Orange County) as well.

I was expecting to pay much more to have the gas heater fixed. It was giving off a strong smoke odor through the vents. I just had an entirely new HVAC system and ductwork installed. I acquired 5 different bids for the project and Southland won out because they have an A+ rating with the BBB, NATE certified, bonded and insured, have been in business 20 years and have excellent reviews. My AC stopped running on one of the hottest days (101 degrees) of the year; I panicked. I called one company and they told me to call the manufacturer because they were booking 7 days out. Then I called Southland and I am so glad I did. The representative was very polite and professional. They were also booked pretty far out however she made a few calls and someone was out to my home the next morning at 7am. I was given a window of time from 7-9 and the technician (Pedro) arrived at 6:55am. We are in a pandemic so I was happy to see Pedro wearing a mask, glove and shoe covers. I could go on an on about my experience but I will stop here and say they were PERFECT. I am so glad I found them and I plan to use them for all my AC and Heating needs. Thank You Southland!
