Pricey but worth it! Great gym. I usually feel uncomfortable in gyms, this has been the best one so far. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love the pool and new steam room. They have cold plunges, a hot tub, so many amenities! Definitely check it out!

I recently started attending this gym after being, out of gyms for over 10 yrs. As someone who spent over 20 yrs. In gyms, from Alaska, Arizona, Texas, North Highland, Minnesota, Manitoba, Seatle, Spokane & many others as a 20 yr. Competition Hockey player. This gym & all there facilities are absoletly impress. Hands down nicest facilities, Staff, fellow members & environment. Ive ever experienced. I can say, I have found a home in this place. Despite a fixed income, the investment in myself & my daughter is priceless!!

I love the gym, but like other customers have said the membership joining or cancelling is difficult, and the customer service is bad.If I have a different experience I will update my review. As of now, I’ve gone in four times to talk to someone about it, with no help. When I did finally talk to someone she was dismissive and not helpful.

Always a pleasure to walk into this fitness center and be greeted by a staff member. The variety of classes available is a huge perk, and the instructors seem to enjoy their job. The facility is clean, and only on occasion does it seem too busy or crowded.

Club just wants ur $$. This club finds every way to charge you without you realizing. Its dirty and overpriced.1. Free trial referal can only b activated your friend is with u at first visit.2. You can only start membership mon-fri 9-5pm. (A time which most customers would be ay their office. Youll have to pay for expensive day passes unless take a day off work to activate ur membership.)3. Their website is designed, so the option to cancel membership is hidden and confusing. They do not allow you to cancel by phone or in the app.4. They do not notify you of any upcoming charges you may have forgotten about.5. When you cancel, you will still pay for the next 30 days

I have been trying to get ahold of billing for a while now. Im in Idaho because my uncle had brain surgery. I have not been able to cancel or get my money back for 2 month that I have paid for and not been to the gym for 2 month. They are stealing my money. I would not recommend this gym.

I greatly appreciate having this gym in our community! The kids’ class is perfect. My kids love that class and I can workout at the same time! The trainers are really great - they push me hard in class and I love them for that. (Thanks Renee and Erin!!). The indoor pool is amazing and we are so lucky to have it.

I believe that this club has the best instructors in the county. I go to a gym for the classes and I feel certain the instructors are better than those at other gyms.

Excellent amenities and friendly staff! Love the classes and instructors - all bring their own unique strategies and so much energy. Thanks SYC for keeping me motivated while I recover from a running injury which was really getting me down - probably going to maintain membership even after I recover because it provides such a robust diversity of workouts - swimming, strength, courts, cycling, and awesome strength and HIIT classes!

The SYC became my go-to spot during a recent stay in the area. The equipment was in good condition and had most of everything you needed. The place felt quite crowded throughout much of mid-morning but waits for equipment weren’t outrageous. The space for floor workouts is quite cramped and without a good spot to do your thing and stay out of everyone’s way. The main fitness floor could also get pretty noisy with the sound of the classes happening a few feet away. Plenty of cardio equipment and the pool and spa were nice additions.

I just moved back into town and am so impressed with the atmosphere in this gym. They have done a phenomenal job adapting to our new normal and being proactive in integrating practices that make everyone feel good about being active and being back to their healthy lifestyle. They provide a motivating culture and beautiful facilities. A big shout out and thank you to the South Yuba team. Keep up the good work!

I love South Yuba club. You guys are hands down the best gym in Grass Valley area. The pool, sauna, yoga and tennis courts are why were there. Otherwise we can lift weights anywhere. And you treat us well. Would love more yoga classes and later hours though🙏🏼🙏🏼

It looks like a great club. I really like the pool because that would be the only amenity I would use. Looks clean. Just one major problem. I have been trying unsuccessfully for two weeks to ge a membership. I want a membership but...Nobody to help on the weekends. No online application. Nobody there after work hours during the week to help. The paperwork that was supposed to be waiting or me was not. If you have a connection to help me get a membership I would be very grateful.

This is a good gym and overall I enjoy it. However the sauna has been closed down for going on 3 weeks! This is unacceptable for how much the membership costs. It should only be down for 1 week max! Im there 3 - 4 days a week during daytime hours and Ive never seen anyone working on it. Its still broken and they removed the date to expect it be fixed. A discount should be given for this inconvenience.Also the drinking fountain was removed from the pool room and has not been replaced for over a month! Not very considerate to swimmers and sauna goers who need to get a drink water. Since there are no drinking fountains in the locker rooms, its a big hassle to get dressed and go back into the main gym room to get water.

Ive been very impressed by this gym. They are friendly and accommodating to all, from the oldest patron shuffling in to the youngest fitness buff. Lots and lots of classes, very friendly instructors, aimed at many skill levels. Yoga, Qi gong, aqua aerobics, plus lots more.One of the thing that surprised me the most is how many older retired people use this gym during the day. Its great to seeThe facility is not new, or particularly fancy, but it is clean and well-maintained. Also, the staff seem happy, which I always like to see.

I like South Yuba Club but the lack of an Ice Machine is mystery to me, especially with such a nice tennis facilities. Filling up water bottles without cold ice keeps me from drinking water while at the facility. I could drink a gallon or more a day if my water was not lukewarm. Most every nice health club in North America provides Ice to their members. It really makes the experience much better having ice cold water in the sauna as well. Lifting weights, yoga, basketball, aerobics, You name it. Water is one of the most important parts of creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and you guys are seriously lacking on that front!!!! Their should be cold filterated ice for everyone! The new water dispensers are great but now we just need Ice. We pay enough in members fees to have Ice!!!

This is the best gym in the area. There is plenty of workout equipment for lifting and the staff is friendly enough. The sauna and pool are nice however the pool has a ton of chlorine and the sauna is generally pretty dirty under the benches. If you’re going to swim bring goggles or your vision will be blurry the rest of the day. Also gym etiquette like enforcing the re racking of weights is missing so you often find things racked up with weights you have to unload before starting your lift.

It’s easy to see why this place is amazing. The facilities were set up with creativity and by people who understand what a club should foster for its members. But that’s not even the reason I signed up.The staff is of the highest quality I’ve experienced! I usually come in looking like a bum (after a long day of work :) and the staff treated me like I was a vip member. Even when I was using a week free pass that my friend gave me. I never felt anything but respect and service in all my interactions with them.Angela is as her name suggests. She’s so warm and welcoming and even remembered my difficult name from the very first day! They need to promote her if they haven’t already. Angela and her team is truly why I signed up and didn’t even question the sign up fee. Well worth it to come to place where people care about you.See for yourself why this place is perfect for your fitness needs. The equipment and variety of workout styles (they have an outdoor CrossFit section!) is top notch. See you there! :)

I left a review several years back after the closing of the Nevada City location and felt it was time to go back in and rejig my review of SYC. Ive been a member of SYC for years now and a regular at the Grass Valley location since their opening, until my recent move to Ireland. I had been going every single day for years. The staff are always supremely help and friendly. The environment is always clean and has every piece of equipment one could need and then some to get a well rounded and fun workout routine in.I was throughly impressed by SYCs use of the time during the Covid-19 lockdown to upgrade their facility and ensure the health and safety of all us members. Prior to C-19 I regularly attended the Barre, Group Power & Fight classes. All of the facilitators and teachers have always been wonderfully encouraging, kind and personable. As well as the many group challenges offered. I value the sense of community wellness and support that SYC has been fostering over the years.Prior to a bad car accident I was in in in 2019, I regularly saw Ethan, one of their many talented personal trainers. He was a FANTASTIC barbell lifting coach. Gregarious, thoughtful, intelligent, hilarious, detail oriented, a true GEM of a human! The pool was a great rehab tool when I was healing from the accident as I was unable to lift or do intensive cardio/classes.I seldom used the spa outdoors as it was typically a bit crowded by the evening crowd post workout, but when I did it was such a great tool for decompressing after a long day or hard workout.The Sauna has to be my ABSOLUTE favorite thing about this gym. Even if I didnt workout every day, I ALWAYS popped into the sauna for sweat. A truly invaluable resource for detoxification, relaxation and general self care, as well as time to connect and chat with my favorite gym community. The night time gym regulars in the sauna always keep the conversation lively!Im now back in Ireland and sad there arent any gyms nearly as amazing as SYC here. I am truly grateful for this lovely wellness hub, all it did for my mental and physical well being over the years and hope it is able to remain open as a community space through these tough times.

The club told me multiple times they could not charge my card and it was not an issue on their end. Each time I spoke with my bank and they told me it actually was an issue on South Yuba Clubs end. I eventually just got a new debit card, there was still an issue so I decided to just cancel my membership so I didnt have to deal with it. I went into the membership office on multiple days and waited for hours to be helped until eventually I had to leave. I called multiple times. No one could ever help me. In the end I was never able to get a hold of anyone to formally cancel my membership even after trying for so long and they sent me to collections for not paying my bill (since my automatic payments were not going through). They have Grass Valley monopolized unfortunately, they really are the nicest facilities but the customer service is terrible and they over charge you so much. Not worth it.

Having been a member of gyms my entire adult life, I have never been treated as poorly as I was at South Yuba Club, an experienced shared by several of my elderly friends. EXPENSIVE MEMBERSHIP. Also very petty (charging for the small sweat towels that normally come free at any other gym). No air flow and the facility constantly stinks. Very disappointed with many aspects of this gym. I reached out to management and eventually ownership with my concerns, and was dismissed. BUYER BEWARE

I canceled my membership.The facilities are nice and include many things that other gyms dont have. However, all too often the equipment that we pay the extra expense (SYC is one of the highest monthly rates around, not to mention a hefty sign up fee) is broken down and takes way longer than it should to be repaired.And for all the money you are paying, the management is very adversarial to members. SYC has a very badly set up lost and found system. They donate everything every Friday, regardless of when the items were left, and do not track those items at all. Because of this, expensive workout clothing that I forgot on a Thursday night were gone the very next day when I tried to get them back. Ridiculous. SYC couldnt even tell me where they had been taken for two days, and refused to make the issue right when I was unable to recover those items (I had to go to the thrift store myself to try to find them). Because they had no way of knowing whether the items were ever in their lost and found (which is of course where they went), they felt they were not responsible and offered no form of reimbursement.I am not rich and I worked hard to treat myself to some good workout gear, it is such a frustrating loss for me. Shame on SYC. Ill take my money elsewhere.

South Yuba Club is just a great place to exercise. The variety of group classes is amazing. Theres something for everyone. The trainers and instructors give that little bit extra to help you. The South Yuba Club is also active in the community by hosting and supporting many events that benefit the community as a whole. Ive been a member for several years and enjoy not only the health benefits but by meeting the people that come there.

Went for a birthday party and the space was great. From what I was told the price was good for renting. They had a small bounce house that the kids loved and two helpers. They did the pinata on the basketball court. You bring your own decorations, food, and cake. But no clean up for you afterwards. They even let the kids put together little airplanes the mom brought and they threw them around, kids loved it.

At first its all great, tried the 1 month because it includes 3 personal trainer experience, great I thought, booked my sessions, and the 1st one got cancelled, the 2nd got cancelled, I tried to reschedule but everything was full, I did miss 1 session with Gerardo but was not notified in advance, I called yesterday 11-28 No one called back, I called today 3 times left messages to try and book a simple training in how to use their equipment before my time is up on the 1st and no one has called. Very disappointed

Just interested in selling memberships. Not interested in personal attention to clients. Dont have good personal trainers who will work one-on-one. Kevin, memberships sales manager, couldnt deign to come out and meet us - we couldnt walk that far. He then said we must take classes and that would be better than a personal trainer. So he doesnt listen. Its just a factory.

Absolutely childish management. After multiple attempts to contact management with no response, I still couldnt get in contact and was left with a $80 bill for a facility that wasnt even open. Reconsider your options. There are plenty of nice facilities in the area that actually support our community.
