Ive never experienced such community love. Every Wednesday they get together for a community wide festival That is held at the plaza. Food trucks, live music, nearby stores attract over 800 people with their lawn chairs. Chairs the main attraction is each other. Folks just sit down and start talking. Enjoying the food and the music. This is what downtowns across America want to look like. Diverse, united, fun.

Visited this Plaza recently. Although Im not sure I would call it a plaza because its really a small kind of downtown historic area. There were so many options for food, ice cream and quaint little stores. Theres a beautiful Park located directly in the center where I saw people laying in the grass and reading, children playing in the park, people walking their pets. It was very well-maintained and a beautiful place to visit. The weather was just amazing and it just allowed for such a great little visit. Theres a tiny little water area that had Turtles and birds. Everything about the visit was just great. Would absolutely recommend for a visit!

A little disappointed in some of the shops! There are a lot closed on Monday AND Tuesday...we planned our visit for Tuesday in hopes we could shop for fun...But Sonoma is adorable and Im looking forward to seeing some new upcoming changes for the Sonoma state historical park/presidio of Sonoma.. it is a great place to check out...

Historical center of Sonoma is undeniably charming and beautiful place. 1800’s building surround the little park offering everything you may want from strolling downtown. Here you will find wine tasting rooms, the best restaurants in the area, art galleries, shopping and even little museum. Absolutely charming place it is!

My favorite place to go put of the city also if you have friends visiting town it’s the best place to go and with kids too!You have so many options to eat, wineries close by, also places that sells wine, ice cream, shopping and more!The plaza it’s an amazing place they also has parking around the plaza and for me every time I go there it’s easy to park.

Always a good place to visit. The roses were blooming and there were a few ducks in the duck pond. I love to get a coffee and a pastry at the Basque Bakery and then sit in the park. The Mission looked beautiful today, too, with lots of poppies in bloom.

A short drive from Santa Rosa through the beautiful wine country, my wife and I made it to our destination at a store in the Sonoma Plaza. It was a great weekend excursion that even a rainy day could not dampen. The square has many shops and restaurants to explore. There were many people enjoying the day and parking was not too bad. Alot of people were walking their dogs there andPets and people were all having a spectacular experience.

U mostly only go through it for the ice cream shop, and Pokémon GO but, is it really pretty place,volunteer opportunities and amenities, it can get super crowded. Theres never enough parking and I advise against going there at night. Unless youre a drinker.

This plaza is nice. Inside the square / plaza there is a park with pond and there are ducks during our visit...dont know if they are there all the time. There are two playgrounds. The playground we were at has sandy ground..be prepared the tiny feet to track those sand inside shoes/socks 🫣 lots of shops and boutique. Nice and clean bathroom behind the historic building. Please support the boutique to keep them afloat.

This tiny town square is wonderfully picturesque, we were passing through during a visit to the valley for a winery tour. There are a fair number of amenities around including a cinema, kids play area, shops, wine tasting bars and restaurants. Worth a look if travelling nearby.

Its an ok place to hang out, stroll around, have a drink, or something to eat. The center of the plaza has good grass area for picnic and family with children to enjoy. However, if youre a little older (around 55+), you maybe enjoying it more. There are some wine tasting shops, but definitely wouldnt be the same as in the actual winery.

Really good square, on Tuesday from 5-8 they have the farmers market and live music/food trucks/stands. Fun experience if your visiting during the week. It is very quiet and most spots around dont open until 11am.

This is a nice plaza to have lunch in. There are small ponds, grassy areas and play structures for children. They hold events and art fairs etc throughout the year. During Christmas time they string lights throughout and it is beautiful.

Used to come here with our kids. Fed the ducks, picnicked in the park, tasted cheese, bought ice cream and learned some history. Now we come for wine tasting, dinner, window shopping and more history. A place for everyone!

They tried to sell a Costco hot dog as a Chicago Kielbasa for $18. I asked the wait staff, who were very nice, if I had the right thing and the owner came to our table to explain to me that kielbasa are any sausages. So the kids hotdog I ordered (also a Costco hotdog) and mine were both kielbasa. I grew up in Chicago, half my family is Polish. Its disrespectful to the people of Chicago and Eastern Europe.Beyond that the kitchen area and bathrooms were quite dirty.

Great little down town for a stroll or coffee or grabbing a bite. The city hall plaza is decorated with the LOVE sculpture and theres a little pond right next to it. Lots of good restaurants too. We went to the girl and the fig a while ago and quite liked it. Weathers usually pretty warm out there if its not rainy.

A small square that really gives Sonoma a historic feel.The old city hall lies right in the center and still has that classic Spanish feel to it.All around, theres life happening. Seniors throwing a football around, families watching their kids playing in the playground, ducks swimming in the pond. Just a perfect little spot to spend an evening.Even better is that its surrounded by all sorts of delicious restaurants, art galleries, variety stores, etc. Youd be hard pressed not to find anything of interest in a 20 minute stroll

If you want to spend a different Saturday or Sunday, go to a Winery in Sonoma, my favorite is the Kunde Family Winery, then go to the plaza in Sonoma, you will find a lot of historical building well preserved. Very spanish style. And then you will be surprised for the incredible food option that is around the plaza. The Lady and the Fig, El Dorado, La Salette are some mazing options. You will come back for more!

First, you must know Im a California history buff. Sonoma Plaza and the town itself preserves an important location in our nations western expansion. Reconstruction, restoration and preservation of historic structures cement the plazas place in history. For the casual tourist not interested in history, there is much to entertain. Wine, cheese and dining establishments surround the plaza, some formal, some not. There are wineries within close driving distances as a bonus. I actually prefer this town to Napa.

If you like historical sites and/or taking pictures you should consider dropping by the plaza. The court house, Presidio, Mission, Blue Inn and Bear Rebellion Statue are all right there. The General Vallejo Home and Train Depot Museum are within easy walking distance of the square. Presidio has nice displays. Mission has some displays, a chapel and mission paintings from the 1800s. The Square has lots of shops and eateries. Went on a Friday in April and place was busy. Imagine weekends would be pretty packed.

One compact spot with restaurants, shops, plaza and history. I’m awed at the fact that a lot of historical buildings are preserved in one area. Its has maintained a touch of the old west flavored with the modern flare. It’s a good place to sober up from all the wine tasting. Got to visit the northernmost California mission. The surrounding neighborhood has lots of Victorian type architecture.

Sonoma is a beautiful town in the Valley of the Moon, just over the hills from Napa Valley. It is one of Californias best wine regions. The center of the town is old and beautiful, with a green central park surrounded by shops, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, a theater, and more. There are some historical places of interest right in the center of town: the Sonoma Mission, and Presidio of Sonoma where the Mexican army gave up without a fight in the Bear Revolt to claim California for the US. There are many great wineries in Sonoma Valley, with an emphasis on zinfandel. A visit to Jack London State Park is recommended.

This is a pretty location. Theres lots of music, food, wine, and people milling about enjoying themselves. If youre looking for a spot with a historical feel for photographs, then we recommend the Sonoma Plaza area! Theres enough architecture and greenery to have a diverse set of backdrops for those portrait photographs. Our tip is to come earlier in the day. Youll want to beat the heat and the crowds.

Flanking the plaza are buildings in all 4 sides where the are many interesting stores, boutique stores, and cafes/restaurants as well as few tasting rooms. Sonoma Plaza in downtown Sonoma is a fantastic place to visit! Its a beautiful park with a well preserved historical building and lots of shops, wineries and restaurants. Great little park in my hometown. There are two small playgrounds, a duck pond, a rose garden, a small amphitheater, and a fair amount of grassy areas.Starting in the spring and running through the fall there is a Tuesday night market which is quite a bit of fun.The county buses use the city hall driveway as the endpoint for the local runs and the intracity bus route.Theres usually some sort of art exhibit spread around the plaza as well as periodic entertainment events.The plaza is smack downtown surrounded by a variety of eclectic businesses, wine tasting rooms, and restaurants.The Rose garden is full of bear bushes during winterHighly recommended.

I love shopping/walking around this area. The beautiful park is an entertaining and also restful centerpiece to the mix of boutiques and fine dining. Walk around the square and discover the old towns history...walk through the park...stop for lunch at a critically acclaimed restaurant or a casual meal off the alleys on the square, then sample the local wines (or spirits-a somewhat recent and welcome addition). The shops and galleries offer a variety, whether your interest is fine arts, cheeses, chocolate, apparel, the home, bath/body. They also have a fair trade market, a kitchen store (craft cocktail infusers and salt blocks highly recommended), a consignment and vintage goods. If youre bringing children, check out the mini donut store, the ice cream parlors, park and visitor center (as well as other tourist attractions within walking distance).

Always fun to visit. So much history and many different types of shops to browse, including a book store which sells new and used books for all ages, greeting cards, stationary, etc. and many restaurants and wine tasting rooms. Also beauty salons. Ladies, if your looking for a unique piece of clothing or outfit, you will find it here. It will cost more but it will be fabulous! We love the museums (only a $3.00 fee and you can get in any of the museums that entire day!) and the huge, shady, park right in the middle of the square. Take a blanket or chair and read, rest, or eat your snack or meal there. Every Tuesday the park side fills with at least a hundred different kinds of vendors and there is a live band concert. It’s fantastic. Go early and take your seating and umbrellas if you want to sit on the outskirts of the park or in case all the shaded areas are taken. Tons if people show up. I’ve been to the plaza 4 times in 4 months (!) and have learned to: go early in the day as it gets hot in the afternoon, wear walking shoes, take your water bottle. Lots of people out on the weekends so I prefer to visit during the week. If you visit in the weekend, get there before noon time to beat the crowds and get a parking spot. There is plenty of free parking but most around the plaza has a 3 hr time limit.

Charming place! I visited Sonoma with friends about 30 years ago, so long ago that Id almost forgotten where it was. Im glad I found it again. As most people probably know, Sonoma county is filled with good wineries. Some have tasting rooms on the square, or very close by....meaning, that you dont have far to stagger from one to another if you are that way inclined.Tasting wines not for you? Try the last mission instead, situated at the north side of the square. What else? An awesome cheese shop - appropriately named the Sonoma Cheese Factory, which was definitely worth checking out.Finally, one of the store owners told us that most places close on Tuesday. However, instead the city holds a party of some kind on the square. Must come back some time...

Growing up in San Francisco, my family visited Sonoma many, many times. This was over 60 years ago and to this day, I still love the place! Ive seen a lot of changes from being a sleepy town to being a destination place. I love that its kept the small town feel and the locals are so welcoming. Great restaurants too!

Starting around 4 or 5pm, they have live music and lots of food/gift/produce stands from local shops and organic farms! Fun for kids and for adults.

Great place to stroll, relax and unwind. Most of the stores do not open until 11am! We had breakfast at Sunflower cafe, they open at 9am & have outdoor seating. Neat lemon trees around there outdoor seating. Beautiful flower garden around the plaza. Highly recommend Roche winery for their firepits & Tamarix wine. And the Sign bubble bar was fun! Plan to spend $30-$40/per tasting or glass.

A nice place for small children as there are 2 separate playgrounds. A lot of space for bigger kids to run around and play. Got to experience this place during the Napa to Sonoma half marathon. The after party event was laid out very nice with enough room for all the winery tables, food trucks and people enjoying themselves. I fell in love with the Sonoma Plaza many many years ago. It is not only the site of the most northernmost of the California missions but the historic Square contains a beautiful park with ponds play areas and picnic areas with green lawns and huge ancient trees. The shops cater to tourists but they are quality shops with well priced quality items.

Could be a beautiful place if it was taken care of. Grass not cut and weeds everywhere. Homeless sleeping on several of the benches. If youre from out of town and especially from out of State be prepared for local drivers to be impatient with you while you try to find a place to park in an unfamiliar town. We wont return.

A gorgeous park and surrounding area - we could have spent multiple days walking, playing, and enjoying this well-maintained public space. Such a wonderful place to visit! There are two small playgrounds in the park at the plaza, perfect for small kids. Also many paths in the park for walking/biking/scooting.The plaza itself is basically four sides of the block, with lots of retail shops, restaurants, art galleries, etc.Lots of shops selling home decor, clothing, art, and kids clothing/toys Theres a little bookstore on Napa Ave and its darling.Many great restaurants to choose from. Most are offering takeout at the moment.The park and square is beautifully decorated for Christmas at the moment. Lots of lights on the trees and the City Hall building lights up at night.The Sonoma Historic State Park is right on the plaza and theres lots of interesting history there.We loved visiting the plazas shops and getting food from the restaurants. The kids loved playing on the playground and in the park.

Ive always enjoyed walking the square, taking photos of the sculptures and animals. It a bunch of friends met up at the farmers market the other night and it was amazing.Loved the (overpriced for me but seems to be normal for Sonoma) food options. Wished there was a winery booth set up, I know there used to be one because some of the friends there worked for a winery that used to have a booth. Two stages set up with live music, the sound didnt compete which was great.Its a great park. They really do support Sonoma local businesses. Theres a lot of community in Sonoma and it was definitely on display.

One of the bast Downtowns to wine and dine, in the heart of the Wine Country, absolutely unbeatable and beautiful. The oldest winery and vineyard, in California, is just outside of Downtown and a great selection of some of the best wine, the world has to offer. There is a center Park area, for fun and games as well as music so dont pass this little town up. Its a real gem.

The plaza is lovely and historic, and the signage depicting the past is very well done. The shops around the plaza have become very oriented towards high-end tourists, and a bit too pricey and chi-chi for me. But we ate at the B&V Whiskey Bar & Grille, and then had ice cream at the shop next door, and both were very good. Ill definitely go back - but not in the summer or on a 3-day weekend - it was REALLY crowded!
