Shirley and Steve were absolutely phenomenal. Both went way out of their way to ensure I got everything I needed after losing my key whilst traveling overseas for several months. They even followed up to make sure the move out went smoothly. Their service was first class and absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had at any storage facility. This facility is the best deal in the whole Bay Area, and the team there makes it even better. Thank you, Shirley and Steve for making my move out go so well during a particularly stressful time, especially with the pouring rain! You are both kind people with the best intentions, and that is so rare these days.

RATS!!!! :(I discovered evidence of rodents in my storage unit about 2 months ago: there was urine and feces on my furniture and other items. I raised the issue to the onsite manager who offered to put more poison bait bags in my unit. Im not a fan of poisoning as it can lead to the death of the animals that prey on rats (foxes, owls, etc), and I asked if there was anything else that could be done, such as traps or fumigation. He suggested that I get my own traps.So now Ive spent over $40 on traps and my new job is to monitor the traps and clean the urine and feces out of my storage unit until I can finally move my stuff out of here. I cannot stay in a situation like this where my belongings are being ruined. Ive caught 3 rats in 6 weeks - its totally disgusting!!Each time I find one, Shirley assists me with disposal, takes photos and files a report. I know its not her fault and shes very helpful, but NOTHING has been done to correct the situation.No contact from upper management.Nothing.BUT GUESS WHAT??This week they sent me a notice that they will be raising my monthly rate by $100 each month starting in March!!Incredible!!Unless you are down for Rat Management as a second job, I wouldnt recommend this place.Edited 2/7/24I called the number you posted and that person told me to wait for a call from Marco...Still waiting.Edited 2/14/24Still waiting.

BEWARE price hikes. This company drastically increases their price every 6 months. By the second year we were paying nearly double the starting price. When we complained, the manager admitted this is company practice expecting that tenants continue to pay the ever increasing amount because the hassle of moving is too great. We moved. Im really surprised at the positive reviews. This is one of the dirtiest and most rundown of the storage options in Sonoma. Check around as this is a last resort.

I have been a SmartStop customer for almost 10 years and I have had a very good experience, but since Steve has been working there I can say that it has been the best experience I have had since he makes sure that my things are protected, reminding me to check periodically, he have follow up in case I need anything, I have recently renewed my contract since I feel in good hands.

We found the business online and the website had a great offer for a small unit, so we made a reservation online. When I looked at the website the day we were ready to go sign the paperwork, the price was higher and it didn’t say anything about a free month. We called and Steve told us not to worry, he would take care of it. We were a bit skeptical, as we’ve experienced bait and switch situations in the past, but when we got there Steve was as good as his word and was also very nice and made sure to explain everything thoroughly and demonstrate the lock on the unit as well as the keypad. GREAT JOB STEVE!

The office attendant was the most honest helpful storage worker Ive encountered and Ive used allot of storage facilities in and out of the US. The units are what youd expect but this facility is one of the few without rats!! They are responsible and very accommodating and reasonable.

The front desk receptionist was a great guy ! The lady that works on Friday and Saturday is a little rude and never leaves the office to clean or check on the property. If it wasnt for Steve My review would probably only be 2 stars.

Recently started renting a unit here at Smartstop Storage in sonoma. Everything from booking online all the way to getting set up, the process was really easy. Not only that but Steve the manager is really awesome out there, he helped with finalizing the contract and made me feel like i was welcomed and accommodated to all my needs. Himself and his crew out there do a VERY GOOD job keeping the facility clean and tightly easy to access and I feel my stuff is well cared for in their hands. So thanks again for all your hard work and welcoming a new gave to the wine country!!!!

An excellent storage facility with the nicest staff you can imagine. I rented a 10 x 10 for several months. The set-up process was easy and fast, thanks to James, the store manager. He is friendly, knowledgable, and seems to genuinely care about his customers and the facility. The unit was clean and easy to access by driving right up to it. The price was fair. The place seemed secure and is centrally located. If I ever need storage again, I will absolutely come back here without thinking twice. I highly recommend it.

Updated review!!! After 4mos with Smart Shop, my rent went from $200 for a 10x20 to $534 per month for the same space!! That is over 200% rent hike!!!I recieved a letter stating that the new rent would go into effect in 30days. While the letter is giving me a 30 daynotice, it sure is not what I had expected when I signed a year lease with them.They honored the rent for 90days and then changed the terms.Just wanted to make others aware. It sure stinks to get your stuff all loaded in a unit only to have to move it out again!!! What a huge hassle.Its too bad as the mgr was a nice guy but doesnt seem to be in charge of the rates. Mar 31st 2021Older review Oct 2020Had a great experience with Smartshop. After looking into a few other storage sites in town, we went with Smartshop.We sisnt choose them because they were the least expensive (they actually do have low competitive rates), we choose the site because we liked dealing with the manager.He was very kind and showed us around the site. He let us look at a few options and even reserved the unit and gave us a few days to make up our minds.We really appreciated the customer service! Steve was great! Clean site. Manager lives onsite. New cameras installed throughout the site. The group ds were clean and kept up. Would recommend.

Went to pay storage fee on 6/10....last day before late fee. They were closed despite posted hours Indicating they were open. I work 70 plus hours a week and so could not hang around. I returned the next day 6/11 to pay and asked that the late fee be dismissed. I presented photographic proof of my visit the previous day and was told they could not waive the late fee. The late fee was $40. The on site manager I was dealing with was friendly and professional but not in anyway empowered to do her job the way she should be. I will be moving my belongings to a different storage facility that is locally owned and understands smart small town business practices.....treating customers fairly....being part of the community....being g decent and fairThanks for reading..CHRIS
