Shirley and Steve were absolutely phenomenal. Both went way out of their way to ensure I got everything I needed after losing my key whilst traveling overseas for several months. They even followed up to make sure the move out went smoothly. Their service was first class and absolutely the best experience I’ve ever had at any storage facility. This facility is the best deal in the whole Bay Area, and the team there makes it even better. Thank you, Shirley and Steve for making my move out go so well during a particularly stressful time, especially with the pouring rain! You are both kind people with the best intentions, and that is so rare these days.

RATS!!!! :(I discovered evidence of rodents in my storage unit about 2 months ago: there was urine and feces on my furniture and other items. I raised the issue to the onsite manager who offered to put more poison bait bags in my unit. Im not a fan of poisoning as it can lead to the death of the animals that prey on rats (foxes, owls, etc), and I asked if there was anything else that could be done, such as traps or fumigation. He suggested that I get my own traps.So now Ive spent over $40 on traps and my new job is to monitor the traps and clean the urine and feces out of my storage unit until I can finally move my stuff out of here. I cannot stay in a situation like this where my belongings are being ruined. Ive caught 3 rats in 6 weeks - its totally disgusting!!Each time I find one, Shirley assists me with disposal, takes photos and files a report. I know its not her fault and shes very helpful, but NOTHING has been done to correct the situation.No contact from upper management.Nothing.BUT GUESS WHAT??This week they sent me a notice that they will be raising my monthly rate by $100 each month starting in March!!Incredible!!Unless you are down for Rat Management as a second job, I wouldnt recommend this place.Edited 2/7/24I called the number you posted and that person told me to wait for a call from Marco...Still waiting.Edited 2/14/24Still waiting.

BEWARE price hikes. This company drastically increases their price every 6 months. By the second year we were paying nearly double the starting price. When we complained, the manager admitted this is company practice expecting that tenants continue to pay the ever increasing amount because the hassle of moving is too great. We moved. Im really surprised at the positive reviews. This is one of the dirtiest and most rundown of the storage options in Sonoma. Check around as this is a last resort.

I have been a SmartStop customer for almost 10 years and I have had a very good experience, but since Steve has been working there I can say that it has been the best experience I have had since he makes sure that my things are protected, reminding me to check periodically, he have follow up in case I need anything, I have recently renewed my contract since I feel in good hands.

Heather was extremely helpful and personable when I went through the rental process with her. She explained all the details of the contract, asked if I had questions, and answered them all clearly and accurately. Heather was very friendly and professional in person and on the phone! Delighted to do business with her and with Smart Stop Storage in Sonoma!

We found the business online and the website had a great offer for a small unit, so we made a reservation online. When I looked at the website the day we were ready to go sign the paperwork, the price was higher and it didn’t say anything about a free month. We called and Steve told us not to worry, he would take care of it. We were a bit skeptical, as we’ve experienced bait and switch situations in the past, but when we got there Steve was as good as his word and was also very nice and made sure to explain everything thoroughly and demonstrate the lock on the unit as well as the keypad. GREAT JOB STEVE!
