We had such a great Mother’s Day tour of San Francisco with Reed Kirk Rahlmann and his Small Car Big Time Tours!!He has so many historical and idiosyncratic gems to share on this finely tuned treasure of a tour - go take it and see! I lived in the City for 6 years once, and didn’t know any of this. I couldnt recommend it more highly. Thank you, Reed!

We had such a great time on our private tour with Reed. He was able to cater the tour and share some more around the history of San Francisco since we were locals. Some of the areas Ive driven by many times but havent had the chance to admire as a passenger so that was really fun. I highly recommend booking a tour with Reed, even if you live in SF.

Small Car Big Time Tours is amazing. We had a magical experience starting from our meeting near a BART station in the Financial District, making things incredibly convenient for us coming from the East Bay. The convertible MINI Cooper tour was a great way to see the city. Riding around with the top down allowed us to take in the unobstructed vistas both near and far as if we were walking. Even though we had a spot of rain during our tour, Reed didnt skip a beat and temporarily closed the top until the sun returned. Since were already very familiar with the area, our tour included some less visited but very interesting neighborhoods with plenty of helpful restaurant recommendations. Reeds historical and architectural knowledge of San Francisco was enormously interesting and added a much-appreciated dimension to our tour. The personalized, private, and fun tour delivered views that we couldnt have experienced on a typical tour bus, car, or van. Reed, was professional, and knowledgeable. The ability to customize the tour and visit off-the-beaten-path areas is one of the reasons why we booked the tour in the first place. I recommend taking his tour whether you are visiting from afar or a local. The entire experience was outstanding, and we cant recommend Small Car Big Time Tours enough.

What a great tour! With Small Car Big Time Tours be prepared to have an amazing experience. Since we started planning our stopover in San Francisco (a couple of months ago), we contacted Reed who was always diligent, and provided lots of info. The day we spent there was remarkable. I will state some reasons to support this:1) Reed was flexible, and let us stop by request to get great pictures, and organize our stops.2) He knows the historical background, including relevant and interesting facts about the city.3) We took advantage of the limited time we had that day, and Reed was excellent in regards the organization and logistics.Finally, we strongly believe this is a Must Do in San Fran, wheter if you have limited time or not, this Mini Cooper experience is definitely Unique.

Amazing experience all around! Reed communicated often and adjusted the schedule to ensure that we saw everything we wanted to see. He gave us a lot of great history about San Francisco and also showed us historical photographs which was definitely a highlight of the trip! We only really had one day to explore and the tour with Reed was perfect. I also really liked that he gives you a heads up when you’re about to get an amazing view just so you can get your camera ready 😊 Do not hesitate, this is the best way to see the city, thank you Reed!

The best tour by the coolest guy! So accommodating and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble! Very comfortable journey and the best way to see around the city. Easy to book and communicate. Fabulous day!! We were picked up at the hotel door and Reed took us everywhere we wanted to go including driving down Lombard Street and over GG bridge. He also suggested some places we would never have known about without his help so we saw way more than we thought we would. The day just flew by. Reed has lots of information about lots of things on San Francisco, historic and present, and it makes for a really interesting trip. 100% recommended for a memorable, fun and informative tour of San Francisco.

We took a mini coop tour with Reed in San Francisco and had the time of our life. He is so full of knowledge. Such a professional. Most of all he is so kind and helpful. His tours are completely custom We are big baseball and Star Wars fans and never would have found our way to see the Lucas -Yoda statue and we got a nice glimpse of Oracle Park. We were only passing through San Francisco and he made every minute count. Driving over the Golden Gate Bridge was a dream come true.

Fantastic Tour - Highly Recommended!!My wife and I were visiting San Francisco for the 1st time ever from Northern Ireland and we wanted to see certain places in San Francisco. We only had a few hours in the city as we were visiting on a Cruise Ship. We came across Reed who offered us a bespoke tour, visiting the sites that we wanted to see. Reed was brilliant, his local knowledge was fantastic and he showed us parts of the city we had not even thought about. What a wonderful way to experience the City by the Bay, being chauffeured around San Francisco in a cute little Mini Cooper. That, with the top down on a gorgeous day was great, but Reed takes it to another level with his enthusiasm and love for his home town. It’s contagious. The more he tells you about the history, architecture, stories and scandals, you fall in love with it too. Wow! This was an amazing tour, and the perfect way to spend a beautiful day in San Francisco; riding in a cool Mini-Cooper convertible with the top down, and a tour guide who seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of S.F. and its history. We saw places and neighborhoods that we would never have discovered on our own. Reed took us on a route that covered way more locations and attractions than I ever expected to see in the time we had. I took a private tour with Reed through San Francisco on my first day. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable, I could tell he had much pride in his city. This translated into a great experience of historical sights, stories, and some of his personal favorite local spots. This was our first trip to San Francisco. Reed provided a unique way to experience the city and share interesting facts that we would not know had we toured on our own. Our recent tour of San Francisco with Reed was truly fabulous! We had a guest from France and we wanted to show her the City in style! We didn’t want to drive unfamiliar streets and Reed’s offering was intriguing.So, on a beautiful day we piled into his darling Mini Cooper convertible, put the top down and cruised SF with the sunshine on our faces. We had a fabulous and informative tour. We loved it so much we had to extend it from four to five hours. I can best liken it the sensation of ground-level flying. The open and view-unobstructed convertible vistas were perfect for photographing. We had the most amazing tour around the wonderful San Francisco. It was a windy but dry day so we still had the roof down and kept warm with the blankets provided by Reed. It was a very special and individual tour which we were thoroughly happy with and one which has given us beautiful memories from our holiday in SF. We chose a 2 hour tour and asked for a general overview of the city but especially wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge, a drive down the fabulous Lombard Street and also the affluent areas of the city. My brother in-law was in from Ohio and we wanted to give him a different perspective of San Francisco. After seeing an article about SCBT Tours in the Chronicle, we decided to give it a try. Were very glad we did!Reed has really done his homework as both tour guide and master driver. He took us to places wed never seen before and gave us new insights about places that we had.I was a little concerned about the size of the Mini Cooper but it was actually perfect! And the blankets he provided made top-down in the winter quite comfortable.Our tour was pretty eclectic and felt very relaxed. Did one and a half day tour with Reed. First day we went to Alcatraz and then Reed picked us up at the ferry. Reed asked us what we wanted to see and then he added a few extra stops. Next day we drove down the coast to Monterey and Pebble Beach 17 mile drive. After both days, Reed dropped us off at restaurants he likes and they were great. Reed was a fantastic tour guide! Reed was excellent in the basic things you expect from a tour guide, things like knowledge of the route and sights, timeliness, safety, and friendliness. But our favorite part of Reeds services were the unexpected items. For example, if a party member wanted a particular photo at a unique location, Reed was able to quickly and safely find an ideal place to stop. Another time, one of us needed an unscheduled stop at a restroom, and without a moments hesitation Reed found an easy and clean location. Reed picked up on the theme of the questions we were asking and tailored additional commentary along the same lines as what we had shown an interest in; really was quite impressive to be able to do that on the fly while also navigating the busy streets of SF! Im a big fan of Clint Eastwood and the Dirty Harry movies, and it was really cool for Reed to show us the different filming locations and explain different things that you would not have known unless you had done the tour. Just had to say what a wonderful day we had with “ Small Cars, Big Time Tours” and Reed as our host ! My husband and I arrived in San Francisco on a Celebrity cruise ship. Our ship arrived later in the afternoon than originally expected, due to whale migration in the area. Reed was awesome at accommodating this shift in schedule. He met us at the pier in a convertible Mini Cooper right on time. We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge with the top down and were off on our adventure. San Francisco is very windy and very hilly so we appreciated being driven around instead of covering a much smaller portion of it on foot or by bike. Reed is a unique character! I have not met a person who is both so well informed and so passionate about his city as Reed. I’m not meaning just knowing the glitzy atuff about the city but also the back stories, the gritty, because all these make the city what it is. This depth and range is what makes this Tour amazing. We saw more from his open top mini that we could ever had done on a bus tour with the added bonus of his insight into the city which you can only get from someone who lives there. We took the tour based on the recommendation of our friends. We live in the Bay Area for over 50 years and visit the city many times over the years. We thought it would be fun to have a tour guide to show us around and provide us with some historical background of the landmarks in S.F. Reed did not disappoint.
