Incredible experience at Single Thread! The room was perfectly appointed with high-end appliances and amazing attention to every detail. Great rooftop bar and lounge area. The 10-course dinner was spectacular, and the breakfast was even more amazing. The attentive and super friendly staff has definitely worked very hard to earn the 3-Michelin Star rating. Perfect place to celebrate any special occasions!!

Would I sleep there again? Absolutely. Would I eat there again? I have. Is it worth every penny? You bet. Sure, it can seem like an investment; but its an experience (and happy place) youd want to invest in. I could wax poetic, but Id prefer you discover and be surprised on your own terms. So if youre thinking about it, stop thinking...go already. ;)

This is another amazing 3- Michelin-star experience in the Bay Area. It is quite impressive that a lot of the ingredients are seasonal and from their farm. The menu is heavily influenced by Japanese cuisines, so there are a lot of high quality fresh fish and vegetables. Their first course was the best for me. It consisted of 12 mini appetizers that were insanely delicious. The mushroom rice before desserts was another highlight as well. Service and ambiance are top-notch. Single Thread is well worth a trip to Healdsburg.

Outstanding dining experience. Amazing food and service. All the things you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. When our server sat us and asked our preference of water, he discretely signaled a colleague and our glasses were instantly filled. In another example, he picked up an empty glass, discretely put it behind his back while he spoke to us and another server wisked it away almost unnoticed. Its the details that matter.

We had heard so much hype and positive review about this restaurant that we were excited to experience our meal. I have eaten at many three-star restaurants and this one was the most disappointing. We are experiencing major buyers remorse. Think twice and hard whether you wish to spend this level of money for an experience that is a big show but that suffers from several fatal flaws. When we arrived at our table there was a beautiful multilevel flower display containing 7-8 different small dishes mostly fish based. While this was a beautiful display titled Last Spring in Sonoma, we thought it was odd that the many raw, sushi-like dishes were made in advance and just sitting there. The rule of fine sushi is to minimize the time from preparation to consumption. Single Threads approach runs counter to this philosophy which seems odd for a restaurant whose extremely high price would suggest the utmost attention to quality. In addition, when I sought advice on how best to order my path through the dishes, the server responded with however you like. In every fine omakase experience I have enjoyed, the sushi chef is extremely intentional as to the order of progression from light to more full flavored dishes. At times the service felt rushed while at other times it lagged and we sat around waiting for what was next. At Single Thread, the approach is more self-serve buffet than multiple Michelin starred restaurant which should have a clear intention and expression to every dish.Several courses sometimes seemed quite confused. Another disappointing dish titled Strawberry Moriawese consisted of the all you can eat buffet in a bowl theme. It was a bowl of tuna, squid and halibut with various vegetables both pickled and raw. These three proteins are radically different from one another. Serving them in a single bowl with the same sauce and accompanying vegetables seemed to express a confusion of treatment rather than a deliberate and thoughtful structuring of taste and texture. The overall philosophy seems to be more is more and you feel overfull rather than satisfied from all the food which is in direct conflict with fine Japanese cuisine that emphasizes simplicity and the revealing of the essence of the underlying ingredients. As you will undoubtedly be aware, Single Thread is expensive. While I understand that delivering extremely high quality ingredients expertly prepared is expensive, the overall taste and satisfaction of dining at Single Thread falls so far short of its asking price that I would seriously caution anyone from dining there. Emblematic of this over pricing is the wine pairing. We chose the lowest tier selection in which you receive 3.5 glasses of wine according to the sommelier. The cost was $300 which with a 20% tip comes to $360 per person. The wines were good mostly from small local wineries but nowhere near worth $100+ per glass, especially considering that most are between $40-60 a bottle.I wish I could provide a better review. I love the approach and philosophy of Single Thread. However, I write this review in the hope of saving at least a few people from making the mistake that we made by eating there and paying $1,000 per person for the privilege of being severely disappointed.

The meal was perfection, we did the wine pairing as well.. from start to finish everything was divine. The service, ambiance, experience, food, everything! I have celiacs and they made sure to make everything gluten free and cooked safely for me. AMAZING! Best meal/experience of our lives!!

Wine was great! Kudos to the Somalier. Food and restaurant service was as expected or lower from a 3 star restaurant. What made them notably infamous was how they treated us afterwards. They intruded into our vacation to ask us if we would like access to their rooftop. After we got all hyped to do this, and after they confirmed we have made the ‘right choice’ we were told after dinner that we don’t have access to what they voluntarily offered as a great experience. So, I have had a few experiences of 1 to 3 star Michelins but this is the fist time I experienced a switch and bait. Please don’t offer what you cannot deliver and make your customers feel cheap because of it.

Good service but odd description of the food, as Ingredients were listed in painful detail, but too fast and too quietly to really understand. Maybe I should have requested the server to be louder and slower. Food was superb. Service was very attentive. Music was too loud, registering about 72-74 decibels. When the music was briefly paused, the reading went down to 62-64. A major difference and much more pleasant. The desserts were sweetened to Japanese taste, although I prefer sweeter standards.

The dinner was nice but I want to touch upon how disrespectful the hotel staff and front desk is by sharing my experience. The check-out was at 11.00am and I requested to use their study room for my Zoom meetings. After an hour, they blasted the music to intentionally kick me out even though they initially said it was okay. When I was going to the front desk to tell them about this, I heard them gossiping and making fun about my age and nationality. This experience was my birthday present and I was super upset and did not know what to do after hearing their conversation, so I got out of the hotel as soon as possible. I believe this is an unacceptable and utterly rude behavior from a Relais-Chateux line hotel. I hope this message gets to the right person and the issue does not persist to young international individuals like myself.
