My first time on campus for Earth Day Festival today.1 🌟 for friendly and serious people, happy to be here students1 🌟 for a lots of green spaces, a pond, trees.1 🌟 for plenty of parking options for students, guests, staff members. The multi floor parking garage is impressive, parking ticket machine to purchase ticket is available .1 🌟 for the multiple choices of food in the cafeteria. Example: open salat bar (open sliced eggs is a risk for samunella), the grill for different fries and burgers. PASTA ... and Mexican food burritos, tacos etc.Sushi the chef was preparing fresh sushi rolls (and I bought them! Very delicious!) Plenty of beverage choices available! Prices should be lower for students!The Cashier managed the line of hungry students with 2 scanners great multi tasking for her! She gave me a bag for my food!I saw 2 or 3 microwaves for students, they can warm up they own food.. plus for coffee lovers: Starbucks!One and only contra: the buildings are kind of old, they all look almost the same. When asked a student or adult they could gave me a clear direction where I wanted to go. They said straight, left, right etc. But when it comes to name a building.. that was missing. Usually with different colors of roof or doors or anything different from each other with bigger signs would be awesome and better! Not just for outside people but also it can help new students or ESL Students.I liked to see the Aquatics and Tennis courts. There was a lot of constructions going on on multiple areas . Its still manageable to drive through and also a good sign that this College is growing.I cant say to much about the education programs in detail, but what I saw, that it is acceptable average.

Bigotry at an American school is nothing new and not surprising, including when it includes educators. But at this college, it’s so bad that an Asian girl tried to use psychology combined with her witchcraft to prevent any college women from dating me.I find it hilarious that Asian people question why they have to have laws against hating Asians. Denial. Unwillingness to admit fault or they simply justify their actions as ethical.It’s super important to note that this review is not an accusation. The college is fully aware of the problems at the college including the problem staff.

Best Nursing college for 2024. Ranked #1 in the state out of 130 other colleges, based on a 99.81% NCLeX passing score. That’s a huge accomplishment! Congratulations!

Counselors laugh like a hyena when you ask about financial aid. Instructors only instruction to me was google it and powerpoint. No teaching. Admissions have no idea the programs they have and no idea how to do anything. The site is too buggy and requirements are listed in a way that doesnt make sense for a certificate. when i wanted to speak to a real human being they gave me an email because Im not allowed to speak to anyone about if Im interested in this schools programs at all without being a member first.

Got my associates here using my GI Bill after my time in the Army. If there was one thing that stood out to me about Sierra College was the Veterans Success Center. Everyone there was always helpful during my time as a student and aided in me being successful in my classes. Overall time at Sierra College was positive and have no negative things to say about it.

I enjoyed my time here at Sierra. I heard of bad professors, but I never had any. My professors were awesome and helpful. My DSPS counselor Scott was amazing. The resource and tutor center was the key to my success. They helped me though all my struggles. Though a great junior college, Im glad Im done here and moved on to Sac State.

Sierra College is one of the best schools I have attended. The teachers are passionate and care about the students. The school offers many classes and class times to make it easier to schedule what you need. The school offers excellent benefits to all students, such as: math center, writing center, computer labs, tutors, and science resources. All of which are free to Sierra College students. I highly recommend getting involved and making your experience there as pleasant as mine.

I liked attending school here, the professors are interesting and caring and the campus is presentable. Before going to a 4-year university, I took classes here and found that the quality and class engagement was higher than the more expensive school - probably because people who attend are more serious about why they are there. Unlike some other campuses I have heard of, Sierra has decent parking as well.

Took classes here while in high school to exempt myself from lower division UC classes. I had a good experience with all of my classes, but I would suggest using Rate My Professor to ensure that your lectures are engaging and assignments not needlessly complicated.It was a bit annoying to apply, and I had a few complications with signing up for classes which I had to repeatedly contact Admissions and Records for. Thankfully, the issues were resolved each time.Classes are very inexpensive for students and almost completely free (other than one-time fees) for Academic Enrichment students (like me) specifically.

Very unsettling campus. It’s very dark! The lighting is horrible. My daughter takes night classes and even the staff has said there are multiple sexual assaults because of it. The administrative staff is extremely rude. I have complained about the safety of the students especially at night and with much disregard from the staff, the comment was basically “oh well”. Highly recommend going somewhere else or taking day classes only.

I dont really like going to college but sierra is a really nice college. Much nicer than mission in Santa Clara where I used to go. The grounds are nice and clean minus the cigarette butts I see even though its supposed to be smoke free. The cafeteria is also great and is almost like several restaurants in one. Great calzones =) the only thing I dont like is so many people go there and sometimes its hard to get into the classes you need.

Beautiful campus and almost all the teachers are real nice and good at what they do. A few to steer clear of but thats what rate my professor is for right? Bit difficult as a STEM major with the most difficult upper level math and physics courses in the area but youll be smarter and a harder worker after it. 4 stars not 5 because of how limited slots are for some classes in stem fields

The campus buildings and infrastructure are compact. Classes are a short walk away from each other. The campus is well maintained creating a pleasant environment. Its easy to get work there if you need it.

I transferred to UC Berkeley after completing my Associates Degree at Sierra College. The campus is well maintained, the library, the tutoring center and the computer lab are never too crowded, and you can always park in Lot O if you cant find a parking spot in the morning. Check instructors reviews before registering for classes. Definitely worth the money!

So, I signed my 14 year old daughter up for their summer volleyball camp. She said the college volleyball coach was nice and a good instructor. On the other hand, she also said that the college coach had some of her girls from the college team she coaches to help out with coaching. (counselors) She told me that the counselors were very rude to her and all of the girls. She also told me that the counselors would talk trash every time that she would pass and say that her form was bad and laugh at her and many of the other girls. The funny thing is that my daughter has been on multiple volleyball teams and every single one of her coaches told her that she was an amazing player. These college players are trashy and disgusting! Do NOT sign up your kids for these sports camps! I even went up to the college players and talked to them about it and they said that it wasnt their fault your kid has such a bad form. ..... I was completely disgusted with them considering that i had paid that camp over $200 just for my daughter to get talked bad about. But thats not the only issue. I asked my daughter if she learned anything or if they had taught her some new skills since she is fairly new to the game, but a quick learner at it. She said that she felt like they did not care and basically taught her nothing new. They just threw ball at her and had her bump or hit it. I am overly disgusted with this college and will no longer be handing my money over to them for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Visited here to see the Japanese garden. This campus has a mineral display on the planetarium side. Weekends one parking lot is devoted to private used car sales, Sierra Auto Sales has a fee to park your vehicle but no fee to shoppers. Heard that the campus had a marine science program?Was sad to see student reviews see the campus as less than ideal. it is a large walk around plus parking fees,

I am specific calling out admissions and records, this office specifically make people hate the school the people in there are not well trained customer service wise, talking from experience they are harsh and mean, all of the employees are only there for the money with out second thoughts that us students are the school, we here not only for the money but for a better tomorrow, society depoends on us”the other day i go there trying to get help concerning a late drop petition, they all refused to help me they’d tell me anything just to get me the hell out the office instead of getting to the bottom of why my petition was disapprove when i insist to speak with Gail their top manager they told me they don’t know where she was like she’s some kind of ghost on campus mean while her her office was two feet away she heard everything that was going on not for minute she stepped out to see what’s going. The people at the front desk told me to contact the “great god” (Gail) via email. And trust me that’s not the first time I have to go through hell with admission and record to get a simple task taking care of.

I got my Covid vaccination there. KP did a good job using a small section of Sierra College to administer the process. Got a BP test as well. Pressure was down 26 points. The person who administered the test was a goddess. As for Sierra College, what the $@&* do I know about it. Hopefully its run better than Google.

I really regret applying for student housing, the housing staff is extremely untrained and unprofessional when it comes to harassment and abuse issues coming from roommates, they did absolutely nothing to help me so I had no other choice but to drop out of this mediocre college. I was unemployed at the time so I couldnt rent an apartment. The RAs were very apathetic with all the harassment and pettiness I was taking from my roommate and believed that I withdrew because I didnt like college over all which I actually did, I enjoyed all my classes and professors. They were very uncooperative about taking any sort of action on my other roommate for her terrible actions towards me. You report the harassment to them and they dont even write the person up or give them any warnings. Its absurd paying 3k for these poor living conditions while trying to excel in all of your courses.

I love Sierra College... AND the various departments on campus are proactive and helpful in person (in my experience). BUT they lack training DESPERATELY in regards to new student orientation and financial aid support. Dont trust what they say by phone (or in person, I suppose) about important, and timely registration and funding matters. My wife and I spent far too much time on the phone, and too often, trying to correct misinformation and missteps that really screwed with our lives. OTHERWISE... I love Sierra College. Im in my 3rd semester now.

I recieved several AA degrees while attending Sierra and had a wonderful experience when I transfered to a 4 year university. My professors at Sierra were passionate about their fields and about getting us passionate about learning it. They were a huge inspiration and made attending school a lot of fun.

The American education system is setup to leave you in a state of perpetual indentured servitude. You are a slave to the loans and the ridiculous fees that this campus offers, just so you can be in more debt down the line... Just for the hope of a good job with decent benefits... They are so not willing to help or explain anything. They take weeks to respond to emails and phone calls. They messed up my financial aid. Truly happy I didnt decide to go here. They let students who dont know what they are doing run specific departments that would be led by professionals. They didnt respond to try to resolve my issue until a week before classes were supposed to start.

This community college changed my life for the best. The science and engineering department can be very challenging here. During my time here I learned what studying hard really is. I was inspired by the teachers and found a passion in Computer Science and Math. After 3 years I found 2 great jobs in industry one of them being an IT job and the other as a Software Developer. Now I am finishing up at CSU Sacramento! 🐝

Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be a student at the local JC at age 62. Well here I am. I have problems with my shoulders and lower back so I am taking a swimming class and I LOVE IT. Over 1/2 the students in the class are over 50!!! Great therapy and gets me out of the house feeling sorry for myself enjoying the myriad things this beautiful campus has to offer. Totally blown away at how easy they have made registration, financial aid, orientation, and enrollment (thank all of you at The HUB). I just cant say enough good things about this school--on so many levels. Going to take swimming, weight training, and an art class this coming summer semester. Coach Barbee gives a lot of attention to every student and takes in to consideration their individual limitations and does so with total finesse.

Went to the autofair run by students here and got assaulted by one of them because I asked him to wear a mask as he approached us to show us a boat. His response was We dont have to wear masks here. When I reviewed the Sierra College Auto Fair the school responded with excuses as to why I was assaulted and attempted to shift the blame on me a customer for me being assaulted. They also made false claims of having video of the incident but posted no such video. Very dangerous and hostile towards covid19 precautions. The dont care about following state wide masking mandates and other COVID19 safety precautions!

Their Pell Grant disbursement works differently then all the other colleges in the area. They wont disburse until AFTER the drop date (3 weeks after the semester starts) while all the other colleges (American River, Sac State, etc) disburse half of it the first week of the semester and the other half after the drop date giving you the chance to purchase your books and items you need. Sierra waiting so long to disburse funds I feel this is a scam to try and force you into the book voucher program on the campus bookstore where all the books are seriously triple the cost compared to Amazon. So they give you these options: either use the voucher program, drop out or come up with the money out of pocket. They disburse all student loans the same way (FYI)Another problem: The hours for the offices suck for working people. They are only open until 5 at the latest and only Mon thru Thurs. I sometimes wait on hold for 40 mins on the phone to speak to an actual person and I get different answers each time I call, the student workers are trained badly and cant get their stories straight. American River office hours (for example): Mon thru Friday until 7pm. and you dont wait on hold longer then 2 mins or so. (or at least I never had a bad hold experience)The college cut a lot of its courses and again, are not compatible with working people because the classes they cut are evening and online courses for the most part.I decided today to transfer to American River for the following semester. I did some research and decided they are better for working students with their hours/course schedules and it will make my life easier for obtaining textbooks instead of struggling to find $400 out of pocket.

Good overall Community College if youre looking to brush-up on your academics.However, there are some serious short-comings. The Online-Counseling they just started is just downright HORRIBLE!!! They have some old-lady in that department who CANT read, asks you the same questions you already answered, and does NOT EVEN WORK ON CAMPUS!!! She lives out in the hills of El Dorado County, and is her age appears to have severely shortened her attention-span. They need to get someone in who is in their 30s and NOT their 50s, someone who has AT LEAST completed a College-Level English Course, and someone who at least works part-time ON Campus and NOT on their Online-Services ONLY!!! You need to get your counseling in at least 2x weeks before the semester starts if you dont want to wait in-line for hours on end just to see someone for a simple piece of paper.. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, they will soon REPLACE miss Terri Maddux with someone who is efficient, attentive, and overall effective in their job skills and not as sorely-lacking in all of the above as I have described in my experience here. Senior Citizens should NOT be handling online-related business UNLESS they can DO the WORK... I could find a 1st grader who is more competent on a computer/online-service position than Terri Maddux.. Youve been warned!
