2024-07-02 05:39:25This is the small pub side to Five Crowns. More casual atmosphere and cozy with a fireplace and some fun rock music. There is bar seating or dining at tables. The menu is the same as the restaurant. Their signature classic is prime rib and I tried the sandwich, delicious with the dip and had choice of fries, cream corn or spinach. Crab cakes and oysters Rockefeller were excellent as appetizers. Service and staff are top notch! Will was friendly, very knowledgeable and engaging. There is a long list of whiskeys on their cocktails menu, about 5 pages including whiskey flights. Of course they have an extensive wine list as well as other cocktails.

2024-02-11 18:13:13Pretty good food though we found out it’s apart of Lawry’s, just with a British twist. Side door and Five Crowns are the same restaurant with the same menu, they are just on opposite ends of the building with a separate reservation and seating arrangement (kind of weird). I guess Side Door is just the more casual side and Five Crowns is the fine dining side, but the service was still impeccable.I do have to mention we had reservations we made a couple of weeks out, but when we arrived they kept trying to seat us in the bar area which is cramped with people standing and walking by.Also the parking is a little annoying, though they do have valet which helps. The food here is very good though. We opted to try some of the appetizers in lieu of steak/ prime rib which is what they are known for.Must-try the Yorkshire pudding which is served in a popover bowl. It’s delicious!!!

2024-05-28 12:27:52The positives: small, loud, somewhat dark english pub feel in the back of the old, original 5 crowns restaurant. Nice fireplace. Nice bar, intriguing seating and table organization. Waiter was very nice and interactive and attentive. No complaints on these. Also, the roast beef was very good - juicy, tender, and cooked to a good medium rare temperature. The au jus was very good as wellThe not so positives: Other than the meat, the rest of the meal was not great. The lawrys creamed spinach was bland and dry. Not well seasoned, and no particular flavor. The mashed potatoes were fine, but could have easily been from Dennys over this level of restaurant. The salad we ordered was very bland, not tossed well, and overall very uninspiring. Portions (other than the meat, which we ordered a large portion) were small. The yorkshire pudding was dry and flavorless as well. The prices werent outrageous, but were expensive, and for what we paid, we thought the offering should have been much better.Overall? Went left an expensive restauarant very uninspired and unimpressed. There are many other options for a good roast beef serving with bland, uninspiring sides, for far less money.Disappointed in the experience, and probably would not return. Too bad - I really wanted to like the place, and had heard good things!

2024-03-02 23:26:35Cozy, intimate even romantic dining. Especially at night during the winter. This is attached to Lawry’s 5 Crowns restaurant. It is its own stand alone restaurant. Has its own unique menu or you can usually order off the 5 Crowns menu. Expect a great experience from Lawry’s. When things do go wrong they usually notice on their own and try to find a solution. Very professional people.

2019-03-26 20:57:01This place is one of my all time favorites. I come here for my birthday about every year. As gastropubs go this one has all the cozy atmosphere you could ask for, feeling like an English country house you might wind down at after a day of fox hunting. They have an incredible burger and a very respectable bourbon selection. Great staff, excellent waiters and the French fries are top notch. And its very reasonably priced. Its a perfect place for a date or special occasion.

2021-07-21 00:48:27Went on a Monday night and the place was still relatively busy. We were greeted immediately, and picked our own seating. The ambiance is dark but cozy. Kind of gave me a pirate ship vibe. Our server was prompt to greet us and give recommendations. She was phenomenal throughout the dinner, and wish I could remember her name.To start we had a Charcuterie board (the chefs selection of five) and Ahi tuna Tartare. We had a hard time picking so we consulted with the server and cheese specialist and were very happy with the cheese and meat selections. The Ahi Tuna Tartare was refreshing and tasty, it had watermelon chunks added in which gave the fish a nice balance. For my entree I tried the lobster bisque, octopus, and mash potatoes. The lobster bisque was okay, I expected it to be drizzled with a cream sauce, however it only came with croutons and chives. The mash potatoes were good, but you cant mess up mash potatoes too often. Lastly, the star of the meal was the octopus. Which was perfectly cooked; chorizo added the perfect meaty spice, while the squid ink sauce tied it together nicely. The potatoes with this dish were slightly undercooked. We did try a dessert (although the name escapes me) and it reminded me of a tres leches cake. It was decent, but we didnt finish it.Overall they had great service, but Im still undecided about their food.

2018-01-26 06:04:15Everything about this place is incredible. Super fun super eclectic. The staff is great the drinks are amazing this service is laid back. I must do!! Sit at the Bar with Julie or Michelle. They make great cocktails and the are super fun and easy on the eyes... also they have a great beer selection. If youve seen it in a commercial they dont have it. In addition to the cocktails the food is incredible. Sidedoor is part of the Lawry family, so you know the food is up to high standards. The great thing about side door is they have great pub food with a prime rib standard. Dont miss this place if youre in town. Ask to sit in Alis section if she is working, she is the tyoe of incredible server that adds to a good time.. she is amazing and really knows her wines and spirits... If you live here you already know about it
