I had such an incredible experience with Shannon and Meike, far beyond what I expected! The whole process gave me so much clarity about my path and lead me into a positive mindset both personally and professionally. Aside from the career guidance, the course instilled a new confidence for me in terms of identifying my strengths and discovering more about myself. Shannon was also incredibly patient and informative with answering any questions/concerns that I had both during the course and before I officially signed up. I did the group coaching sessions, and Shannon and Meike were incredibly attentive to everyone and really took into account what we discussed every week for continued growth.The resume writer Jessica was also fantastic- she gave some great job searching tips on our call and really took into account the points that I can highlight in my resume. Highly recommend!

Meike and her methods have genuinely reshaped my view on who I am as a person and how that relates to my professional life. She is very thoughtful and considers the emotional side of career counseling when she is with her clients. Even though I personally haven’t been able to make a career shift just yet, I do feel much more confidant in knowing what works for me in relation to the kind of work I ultimately want to be doing. I found Shannon when I was at a major crossroads and very unsure which direction I should go with my career. I interviewed a number of different career coaches and Shannon was by far the warmest, most professional, and the person I felt most comfortable with. I found myself in the same routine over and over again with different jobs that weren’t leading me anywhere. Throughout the process with Shannon I was really able to find myself and have a clear plan in which direction I should go. Working with her was the best decision and I instantly found myself growing and improving professionally within just a few sessions. I cannot recommend Shannon enough! When I first signed up with Shinebright, I had recently made the decision to quit my day job and jump fully into building my own business. I recently had the pleasure of working with Meike, a career transition consultant at ShineBright, to help me move from a classroom teacher in education into the private sector after almost 20 years. She is probably the most encouraging and insightful person you will ever meet.I was at a crossroads in my career and didnt know what to do. Working with Shannon was a dream and an eye opener in terms of helping me listen to my gut. Shannon also uses a strengths based philosophy, so instead of me trudging through more job ads, the thought of which made me anxious and unhappy, we looked strategically and intelligently at my skills and from there, what kind of work I would be best suited for. Im happy to say, I found a line of work that feels right and very interesting for me. Finding myself in my mid-50s and in the dark wood of seeking a new direction in my career, I came to Shinebright Career and Life Coaching on the recommendation of a friend. My first meeting with Meike Hennon was a preliminary interview in which I shared my struggles with my career and family history, wanting to bring meaning and purpose to the next phase of this area of life, and moving from a place of feeling stuck and alone to a place of strategy, possibility, and career fulfillment. I had just finished reading Willpower Doesn’t Work, in which the author recommends a monetary investment that commiserates with the depth of the issue you’re dealing with. So, there I was, with a credit card in hand, ready to buy now and ask questions later before Meike offered her feedback on the type of career coaching she thought would benefit me most at this stage of life – group coaching instead of one-on-one coaching. Little did I know that our coaching relationship had already started. Meike and Shannon know precisely what level and types of coaching will most benefit their clients. I recommend taking their advice.One of the tremendous benefits of group career coaching with Meike and Shannon is learning that you are not alone and don’t have to go through this phase of your life alone. In this course, I met extraordinary people who, like me, had arrived at a point in their careers where they yearned for meaning and fulfillment. From years of experience, Meike and Shannon know the mental roadmap with its potholes and detours that we encounter on our career journeys at every stage of life. My journey with Shinebright started when I had reached a breaking point at my job. It was too far outside of my comfort zone and I had lost the ability to look forward and exist outside of the day to day problems. I was looking for an exit strategy and a shiny new life.The first few sessions with Shannon were eye-opening. I understood myself on a different level and recognized patterns in my personality. More than that, I recognized that some of the bad things in my personality were not bad at all, but rather, a force that had not yet been reckoned with. For years, I had told myself I has defective; I was crippled with indecision that infiltrated every aspect of my day. Something as simple as where should we go for lunch would turn into a spiral of self doubt. Shannon helped me see past that and framed my strength (as it turned out) into something of immeasurable value. Simply said, it was life changing.But Shannon didnt stop there. Equipped with the ability to pivot quickly, elegantly and with incredible acumen, she offered invaluable wisdom at the drop of a hat. I needed help figuring out my next career move, and I am fortunate enough to have found Shinebright. Meike and Shannon really offer a unique service with their group coaching option, and Im so glad I chose it. I not only felt the support of Meike and Shannon, but also of the others that were in my group. It was such a valuable experience to know that other people at varying stages of their lives/careers were feeling the same way I was, and we learned from each other.The Shinebright program is very structured and follows a defined process, which I really appreciated. Ive known both Shannon and Meike for years and of the work they do in helping individuals to identify and define their innate strengths which I always found to be inspirational. But it wasnt until I personally worked with Shannon through her coaching process that I fully grasped the span of value in what Shinebright provides its clients. First, the coaching process itself was enlightening and fun, and Shannon was clearly passionate and highly knowledgeable in her role. I was able to confidently identify my own strengths and to gain an understanding of how they show up in my day-to-day life. From there, Shannon helped me to develop language to be able to communicate my strengths in a professional setting as well as a means for practically applying this new information in both my professional and personal life. I decided to search for counseling when I was debating about quitting grad school in 2019. I just started my program and was struggling fitting in or finding a direction, especially as I was dealing with a disability. I found Shinebright via Google and after reading the reviews, I decided to do a consultation. Meike helped me understand that my core values and strengths are suffering due to my condition and circumstances. After deciding to try a few sessions, I was able to understand myself more and persevere the entire semester and 2 years. I am writing now as a graduate with an MFA, and I am grateful for the lessons Iearned via Shinebright.I will say initially I was apprehensive about the price, especially being a student, but it was a good investment and the lessons are invaluable. The overall structure is partly based on an assessment, and though it can be done individually, having the support of someone explaining it all as well as the experience and knowledge Meike has, makes a big difference. In early 2019, I was feeling unhappy, and I could not understand why. I had excellent health, shelter, health insurance, a great job, a big loving family, my faith, dance classes, and more. Yet, something was missing. I would spend my weekends in bed, and although I came through with my commitments, that was because I forced myself since meeting my responsibilities is essential to me.One Saturday, I started thinking about a life coach while in bed all day. In all honesty, a life coach sounded like something that only people with financial privilege consider. I put those thoughts aside, and I decided to search on YELP. I came across Shinebright and started reading the reviews. I immediately resonated with the reviewers. I decided to reach out to Shinebright, and because I live in the South Bay, I connected with Meike in Manhattan Beach, CA.I cannot begin to explain what a great experience I had collaborating with Meike. When I first reached out to Meike, I was feeling an overwhelming sense of desperation. My career was not where I thought it should be or where I wanted it to be, I was very unhappy with where I was working, and I felt frustrated by the cycle of job hunting in which I had found myself, resulting in multiple job transitions in a relatively short amount of time. In a word, I felt trapped, an experience only exacerbated by a toxic work environment and lackluster income.Working with Meike offered a profound, introspective examination. Through a concentrated, strengths-based program, I learned to rework my approach entirely, in order to find what I really wanted to do versus what was possible for me to do, given available job postings to which I had no particular pull. Instead of trying to force a puzzle piece into a gap, I was able to work on an entirely new puzzle, one which I had the power to design myself.After providing an exploration and understanding of my strengths, the program then shifted to extensive preparation and networking, the depths of which were, at least for me, unparalleled. I had never spent so much time working on the groundwork for a new job before applying for it (or even looking for job openings for that matter); that said, it made the actual interview process so much smoother and seamless when the time came. Not only did I inherentely feel so much better prepared than ever before, but I was also able to provide a much richer and stronger context in my interviews.At first, I was very apprehensive about investing in such a program, as I had never done anything like this before. A friend of mine made a good point; he told me that I likely would be able to find a job without Shinebright’s assistance, however it may not necessarily be a role for which I am best suited. I am so happy I heeded what he said. This was a much more strategic, targeted approach than I would ever be able to accomplish on my own, and Meike offered constant encouragement and support along the way. For anyone who is going through a challenging time professionally, I highly recommend pursuing Meike’s expertise.
