We have worked with Shilpa for three transactions, and would never consider working with anyone else again!   More than 10 years ago, we worked with Shilpa to purchase our home in Belmont. She was so patient and diligent, making sure that we considered all the pros and cons to living in a hilly area. She was also the voice of reason when it looked like we were getting swept up in a Bay view, when we needed to consider the realities of hillside settling, steep stairs up to the front door, or on-street parking. The home we ended up purchasing was beautiful, very comfortable to live in, and Shilpa guided us through the offer / negotiation process like the pro she is.When we were ready to move a bit south, Shilpa worked with us when we purchased our town home in Sunnyvale. We had some specific requirements, and she again was patient and thorough in setting up a search with us. She was again a master during offer / negotiation process.Where Shilpa really shined, though, was as our agent for the sale of our town home. She was truly the picture of efficiency and planning! When we first met with her to talk about our plans to sell, she had already done a search in our neighborhood and knew what the market was doing, how inventory was moving, and what the predicted direction of our homes worth would be. We moved into high gear, with Shilpa leading the charge: She lined up painters, gave us the name of exceptional workers and even a great mover, met the various painters, tilers, cabinetry workers, etc. at the house, and literally orchestrated the operation like a seasoned maestro! We were exchanging texts multiple times daily as Shilpa was checking in or informing us of activities & next steps. We always knew she was taking care of things and keeping our best interest in mind throughout all processes. We could not have done this without Shilpa.When setting the asking price for our home, Shilpa was again very thorough and brought all the pertinent information to the table for us to make an informed decision. We all felt really good about the agreed-upon pricing. We moved out with 10 days of our first meeting with Shilpa, and she had them in demolishing cabinets, installing new countertops, painting, staging, and ready for the open house in two weeks. Three days after the open house, we had four offers, with multiple over our asking price. Shilpa exceeded our expectations, and we are happily relocated with more profit than expected.In summary, we have worked with Shilpa three times, and each time she has exceeded our expectations. Whether it is selling or buying, she is the ultimate professional and leads her clients through the process easily. We consider her a professional partner and friend.

Shilpa Merchant, is the best real estate agent I have come across! Shilpa helped us buy our first house. We shopped around for real estate agents before we decided to go with Shilpa because we found her to be detail oriented, professional, knowledgeable and very thorough. I really appreciated her ability to point out different things that we might have completely overlooked or never thought about (during house tours). Shilpa has a breadth of knowledge regarding real estate market in the Bay Area which helped us purchase our home in Sunnyvale.Buying a Single family home seemed like an impossible journey, but Shilpa was very diligent in finding places for us to view during our search helping us narrow down the area and type of home my wife and I wanted.Shilpa listened to what we were looking for in a home, the price point and preferred area. Her relationships with other agents in the area is outstanding and a significant reason why we were able to purchase our home. When we purchased our home we made a preemptive offer on our home purchase. We had the confidence to do that because Shilpa has a great pulse on the market values and we were quickly able to assess the pros and cons of making a preemptive offer which we ultimately feel played out in our favor.The Bay Area real estate market can be challenging to navigate but, with Shilpa at the helm we were able to find the perfect home. Shilpa is a phenomenal realtor! She was an expert at really getting to know us, asking both of us (my spouse and I) the right questions to figure out our priorities and what we ideally wanted, and making several insightful suggestions on attributes we had not considered in our selection criteria. In addition, she knows the Los Altos, Palo Alto and surrounding areas inside out, and provides excellent guidance on what to consider in each neighborhood, likely closing price of any house, and other considerations home buyers may not think of. She also knows every realtor in this area, which is important in having first knowledge of what is coming on the market, price negotiations, etc. Finally, she was extremely helpful in recommending mortgage agents with the ability to close quickly and other trades. Overall, she was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. We will definitely use Shilpa for our next transaction and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking in the peninsula.

A few years ago we decided to look for a house and were recommended Shilpa by a couple of friends who she had worked with. This was the best decision we made. Shilpa is extremely friendly, detail oriented and incredibly knowledgable about the areas she covers - mid-peninsula to Saratoga (in the SF bay area). She has an amazing process that helps her understand the needs of new clients and then continues to adjust based on our feedback and responses. The part that made us really trust Shilpa was her ability to say NO when needed, even if we wanted to overlook certain shortcomings in a home we liked. This, in hindsight, was what allowed us to settle in quickly in a move-in ready home, and find wonderful neighbors.Finally, its not a transactional relationship with Shilpa. We worked with Shilpa when we bought a house recently in South Bay and were very impressed with her throughout the process. Few things about her that stood out for us.- Extremely responsive whenever we needed her advice or to go on a house tour- Toured multiple houses with us and made a genuine effort to understand our needs & taste and tailored her recommendations accordingly.- Very knowledgeable about the South Bay market and helped us identify areas which would be a fit- Never put pressure on us to make an offer or at a certain number. She always gave us her honest opinion and let us decide for ourselves, which we really appreciated.We had a tight offer deadline for the house we eventually ended up buying. My wife and I first met Shilpa at an open house when we were just beginning to explore the possibility of finding something larger and more practical than the home we were living in at the time. From the beginning, we were both very impressed with Shilpas thorough knowledge of the local housing market. As our search progressed, we were also impressed by her patience, enthusiasm, professionalism, and attentiveness to detail.Since we planned to live in our next house for the foreseeable future, we had many requirements in mind for the perfect home. Shilpa was able to quickly ascertain our likes and dislikes and steer us towards homes most likely to meet our needs. More importantly, she also steered us away from homes that we would not have been happy with in the long term.Of course in the typically strong sellers markets in Mountain View, finding a home is only half the battle. Shilpa is the most patient and knowledgeable real estate agent you will meet. She worked with us and our relatively exacting requirements to really learn what was driving the requirements and showed us a number of places to help refine our needs and also help her understand what works for us. By the time we found the right place, Shilpa already knew that this was the place for us before we had even seen it. Then came the hard part in winning this place as it was in the middle of one of the hottest real estate markets in recent times. She did a lot of research, on what this house was likely to clear at given all the other folks in the market for similar homes, and then strategized with us to help us put in a compelling bid that eventually won the house! You cannot go wrong with Shilpa as she is the most customer focussed real estate agent we have met (and we had to part ways with our prior real estate agent, so we know something about agents that don’t work out).

Shilpa represented my mother as a buyer and a seller 16 years ago. She did a fantastic job on both transactions. I knew if my wife and I ever sold our home, I would call her again.In early February, we decided to sell. Inventory was low and it was an ideal time to put the house on the market. One problem, the house needed work - painting, lighting/plumbing fixture changes, powder room remodel (including flooring), staging, etc. All those things take time to find contractors and purchase materials. We wanted to get the house to market within 2 weeks, could we pull off a miracle?I called Shilpa in for a consultation.She agreed the home needed to get to the market quickly to capture buyer demand and low inventory. I asked her if she had the contacts/resources to make it happen and she said she did.True to her word, in 2 days, I was meeting with stagers, painters, contractors. In fact, I had competitive bids for each. Because of the relationships she had with these professionals, they were able to squeeze our job into their schedule.Shilpa consulted on paint color, spent hours looking for the perfect lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, vanity, and worked with the stager to enhance the look of the home. She knew exactly what appealed to a broad cross section of buyers.In 10 days, from the time I called Shilpa in, our house was ready for market and it looked like a model home.I will say this without hesitation, theres no other realtor that could have pulled this off. I knew Shilpa would be great, but this situation put me at a loss for words. It was jaw dropping.I noticed Shilpa gets great reviews for attention to detail, knowledge of the industry, understanding and explaining contracts, pricing strategies, marketing strategies, understanding buyer qualifications, etc. I totally concur with that too. Shilpa is the best realtor Ive ever worked with. I interviewed several realtors and selected her to sell my Dads house in Los Altos. She is a great communicator, collaborative partner, detail oriented (every i is dotted and t crossed), knowledgeable in marketing and pricing strategies, proactive, ethical, and skilled in every aspect of sales.Shilpa was very involved in the entire process and provided help on whatever I needed. She was instrumental in quickly finding us and vetting a qualified appraiser to get the house valued as of date of death. With the tenant moving out earlier than anticipated, she timely arranged all service providers to get the house ready for sale, including painters, carpet installers, repair workers, yard clean-up, and stagers. When there was a sudden problem with the lights, she texted at night to obtain my repair authorization and at 7am the next morning she met the electrician at the house, just in time for lights at the brokers tour. She is someone you can count on to deal with any unexpected issues. She is also very well connected with other realtors, and skilled at vetting offers and buyers.The house sold in 5 days, with multiple offers, and I was very happy with the price.Shilpa handled every aspect of the sale professionally and perfectly, and it was a pleasure working with her. We worked with Shilpa to buy our first home. We interviewed multiple realtors and settled on her given how positive my colleagues at Facebook spoke of her and they were not wrong.If you are looking for someone who will just do the paperwork for the house you like, she is not going to be a good fit. With us, she was very involved in the entire process end to end. She understood our requirements and mixed her own opinion based on experience to show us houses that would not only fit our requirements but also be easy to sell back in future. She was frank in giving her opinion on each house and not just echo what we were saying.We felt very comfortable working with her and using her guidance, expertise in the home buying process.In addition to the above, she is extremely well connected. It was rare that she didnt already know the sellers agent, which was really advantageous. Even when we lost bid, she would found out how much were we off by right away (and not wait 3-4 weeks for the status to update on MLS).To be honest, I was skeptical of the value of having an agent given that they take a hefty commission from seller. But after working with Shilpa we realized its totally worth it. If you are looking to buy a new home in south bay (Menlo Park to Saratoga) - I highly recommend Shilpa She was STELLAR. She is (1) extremely knowledgeable (pros and cons of different areas, whats a winning price, whats good and bad about the house), (2) has a strong network with selling agents so is able to get a tonne of intel as you build an offer, (3) she is a hustler - when there is a problem Shilpa will find a solution and a way out (4) she is the right amount of patient - she truly had our best interest and didnt push us until she knew we had found what a house that met our needs - at that point she got into aggressive lets get this house mode. Dear Shilpa:I want to take a few minutes and let you know how truly grateful I am that you represented us in the sale of our duplex.From the moment I contacted you that it was time for us to sell the duplex, till the time we closed (which I believe was three weeks from time of receiving offers), it could not have been easier on my part. The 1031 portion of my exchange was also flawless, and I appreciate that as well.The fact that you had two times of two hours each to allow realtors view the duplex, have inspections, and allow prospective to view the place was absolutely amazing. The yards being tidied up was an added bonus to the procedure.During the closing, I never worried about a thing and asked not to be kept informed about all the small details. It was great! We closed on the one property and then quickly bought another place about a week later and closed on that one in less than a week and rented it out that same week.
