I researched high and wide before settling on Shed Mania and am super glad I did. A lot of the other providers were inflexible with what they build so it wouldnt match our main house, or couldnt accommodate a hill, and were also often more expensive. John and Song know what they are doing and are extremely service-oriented. Their crew is really competent and detail oriented. Unlike other providers, Shed Mania builds everything from scratch so you can essentially customize everything, from the dimensions to the windows / doors, to any add-ons such as solar + battery, deck, steps, all of which we ended up choosing, and all of which were very well built and fairly priced. I had a friend who went with a general contractor who was not specialized in sheds and his first winter resulted in lots of leaks from the rain. Do yourself a favor and hire John & Song who have so much experience and can accommodate almost anything you ask for. Youll get a product that is not only quality and delivered on time but a pleasant experience through it all.

My wife and I needed an office shed as we were converting her current office into a nursery. We were so happy and delighted to have found Shed Mania. John, Song, and their entire team did an amazing and exceptional job. The entire process was quick, smooth, and they delivered quality work timely. John and Song were quick to respond via phone, email, and also set up a Zoom call to make sure all the details were exactly what we wanted. We can’t thank them enough for getting the project done earlier than expected as we were expecting. We had looked at other options, however we didn’t feel great about them until we found Shed Mania. I hired Shed Mania to build a small studio in my backyard. I am thrilled with the work they did. They were very easy to work with listening to my needs and adapting the project accordingly. Once the work began it went up very quickly. The result is exactly what I wanted: warm, cozy, bright and clean and the perfect siz. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them.

John, Song and their team are awesome! Our family was in need of another room when we had our second child as I had lost my work from home office. The Shedmania detached 120 sqft shed was the perfect solution. Now I have a very nice get away where I can be productive in the backyard. When comparing adding an additional room to a house vs a shedmania shed, shedmania is not only a better cost savings solution but a better all around solution if you need a quiet space to work.We originally were planning on having this work done in April but Shedmania was able to fit us into their tight schedule in December. The team operated so quickly it was pretty incredible to watch. The foundation was poured on 12/7 and I was able to move my office into it on 12/23. Ive included some progress photos for the first week or so of the construction and the completed product.The shed has the following features:-On concrete slab foundation-Well insulated (I will go in the morning and temp will be at ~46 degrees F and after turning the mini split on to 70 it gets there in under 30 mins and has no problem staying there)-Electrical ran from the house panel-Ethernet hard line ran from the modem in house-8x3 deck-Laminate floors-French doors-Two 5x3 side windows-Composite roofAfter all the recent rain Im happy to report no leaking. It is a south facing structure so I am exposed to the sun through the french doors but I installed some black out shades to use for sunny days and the problems solved.I couldnt be happier with the end product as a solution for what we needed.Thank you again to John, Song and their dedicated team who did such great work!

Everything youre reading in the other reviews is true! John, Song, and Team are absolutely amazing at what they do- great communication throughout, transparent pricing, quality craftsmanship, and FAST. Like, once my project started, the onsite Team was here working all-day, every day, except weekends. Start to finish it only took them about 3 weeks!I did quite a bit of shopping around and Shed Mania was definitely the best value for the price. I loved how customizable everything was (ex: external dimensions, type of foundation, placement of the windows/outlets, roof material, interior/exterior paint, flooring, etc.) - we were able to design it to fit our needs exactly, which for us was space for an office desk (including fast internet, obviously!), space for stretching, and a wall for storage racks since we dont have a garage.The whole experience felt too good to be true so I kept waiting for something to go wrong... but it never did. I have literally nothing bad to say about them. I would hire them again in a heart beat!

I cannot say enough great things about Shed Mania and I feel lucky that I worked with John and Song. Below are a few key things that come on top of my mind.- Super on schedule and on budget. Based on my experience, these are the most important but rare attributes of contractors. John is a great communicator and he made sure I was always on top of the project timeline and budget.- Song is a great craftsman and very experienced. He put together the 3D rendering working closely with me. I wanted something thats different from their standard offering. He helped me source the materials while make sure its not over my budget.- During the project, Song proactively helped me think about all the details. I wanted a minimalist design to match the style of our main house. When I asked him how we were going to handle details such as trim and gutter, he had always thought about them beforehand and offered the best solution.Bottom line - I highly recommended Shed Mania if you are thinking about building a shed or ADU.

If I could give 10 stars to Shedmania, John, Song, and their team, I would do so gladly! From the first contacts with John to the final clean up, the process was smooth, professional, and responsive. Communication between myself and the team was first and foremost exceptional. John, Song, and the 3-man team doing the build returned every text, call, email I sent promptly and kept me informed and updated about the work. That alone is golden when doing a construction project, but the finished shed is solid! I was initially worried I would not get the shed I envisioned in my San Francisco space. Another company had already seen the space and rejected the job. But John presented himself as a problem-solver with a “we can do this” attitude. John listened and delivered exactly what I wanted, getting the larger sliding door and window I wanted to allow more light, and getting the specific exterior lights I wanted. The cherry on top of this project was the adjoining deck the team built that makes the entire space around the shed beautiful and inviting. I had wanted a shed in my SF backyard for 5 years, and finally I have exactly what I visualized. I highly recommend Shedmania!

We hired John and Soong to build our custom studio in San Francisco, and are incredibly pleased with the results. The crew they hired were prompt and rapid, and managed to make it work in a relatively tight spot. The work they did is gorgeous, and has absolutely improved our home, and will doubtlessly be a great investment in our property.Edit: I just wanted to add an update 3 months after completion. There was a little problem with the front door not sealing properly, and they came right out as soon as the weather permitted and rehung the door. Now everything works perfectly. They really stand by their product, and work to help the customer. Id give more stars if I could.

Five star experience from start to finish. I have to admit, when I was looking at various companies to bring my backyard shed dream to life, I saw all the stellar reviews and was skeptical. I wondered if the reviews were legit. Having been through the process with John, Song and their team, I can assure you that the reviews ARE legit. The process, professionalism, and results are exceptional.Before I found ShedMania, I considered working with a different company but was bothered by what felt like a lack of transparency on pricing (and the overall cost just kept going up up up). Im so glad I decided to look a bit further. After my first call with John and reviewing his follow up emails, it was clear that these guys knew what they were doing. I went with a simple design, so that part of the process was pretty straightforward, but still it is worth mentioning that Song helped me visualize a different options with renderings until we got it just right. I had to wait a few months, but once the work began, my shed was complete and ready to use within a few weeks! They began site prep very beginning of November and I was able to begin working in the shed around Thanksgiving. The building crew was super friendly, professional, and respectful. The finished shed is so beautiful, well constructed, and bright (even without electric!). No hidden costs - my payments were outlined in advance and I paid exactly what John had quoted.After working in my shed for a few months, I noticed some dampness and condensation on the floor. I didnt suspect any mold, but worried that if I couldnt keep the space dry that might become an issue. I reached out to John and was contacted by him and Song within an hour! Song came by the very next day to thoroughly check out the shed and make sure everything is ok. Once again, super impressed by the whole team and how this business is run. John and Song take great pride in their work and stand behind every shed they create.

Almost 6 months in, and we use it every day as a garden office. We have had zero problems even after the first rainy season.The planning process was pretty easy. They helped us understand the options and figure out what we needed and what would work for us. They gave us a clearer, more complete, easier to understand qoute than anyone else did, and the price was right. These guys are pretty busy, as you might expect, so it took a while for construction to start, partly due to permits. Regardless of who you hire or how you do a project like this, I recommend having a clear understanding of the timeline at the start. That said, once construction started it was super fast, just a few weeks. They took care of any issues we had and got us set up with a great extra space. I highly recommend them.

I had an old fence-like, enclosed storage shed around some pool equipment (pumps, heater, filter) in my backyard, and it basically blew over in the storms last winter. Knowing I had to get a new structure in place, I explored how much better I could make the structure without spending a ton of money on a general contractor approach. I researched and talked to a bunch of companies that build detached units (aka sheds) ranging from out-of-the-box to highly customized. It became clear pretty early on that Shed Mania offered the highest quality and best attitude, and at a great value. From the get-go, John was on the ball with quick and clear communications. He set expectations upfront with a clear contract and got to work immediately. The team worked fast and at a high-quality level. They had positive, can-do attitudes; they were willing to customize whatever I wanted (design, process, execution), and willingly made changes real-time if I brought anything up. They made sure I was happy all along the way, and all said and done, I ended up with an awesome, great looking, structurally sound, fully custom, three-room structure that was ready to go in under two months. I highly recommend Shed Mania and would definitely work with them again.

Studio Mania is absolutely the best, absolutely. If you like good communication, no hidden strings, and solid quality work, then hire these guys. I met with John, the business manager, to review what I thought would be a demo and rebuild of my old, 14 x 30 dilapidated backyard garage. I was ready to opt for a small 10 x 12 prefab studio by a well-known company but wanted to see if I could find a local company to do the work. Instead, John suggested that we strip the structure down to the studs and foundation, and rebuild the structure, resulting in an insulated building with doors, windows, a 12 x 20 studio space, and a 12 x 10 storage space. All with finished walls, recessed lighting, flooring, and electrical. I was dubious at first. He wrote out a detailed, step-x-step process in contract form, answered my many questions, provided photos of work they had done that was comparable to what he was proposing to me, and worked up an estimate that was within my allowable budget and timeframe. By the time we signed the contract, I felt assured that this was going to be a good rebuild. The project went according to plan, there were very few surprises. Every day I inspected the work that Song and his team had done that day, and within 5 weeks, I had a newly refurbished garage that has been transformed. Im a picky design professional, I like things done right, I like honesty and transparency, and I super appreciate getting what I ask and pay for. These guys are the best, and theyre super nice and conscientious. Theyre a rare find.

(San Mateo City project - July 2022) I cant say enough good things about Shed Mania and the owners John and Song and their crew. This review was delayed because I wanted to trial the finished shed through some weather; especially the intense summer heatwave and our first serious rainstorm. Our backyard was too small for a small-size ADU so, many companies passed when we inquired. Found out that John and his company were filling a niche market of small home/office sheds. Perfect! From the first initial contact to the planning, design, scope of work, options, payment schedule and actual build; the communications were clear and detailed. Song and his crew were punctual, professional and hard working. A few hickups in the details at some point but Song & John resolved everything quickly and to my satisfaction and level of quality. I interacted quite frequently with the crew but didnt interfere in their work. Built a very big shed with a loft (14ft height) and a gambrel roof, which gave even more space in the upper section. We are super excited to start the next phase of furnishing and designing the interior. John and Song are easy to communicate with and to do business with. They definitely stand behind their work and they should because its very good workmanship for a shed with a very reasonable price range. Definitely would recommend Shed Mania if youre in the market for a home/office space and an ADU is overbudget and oversized for your yard space.

I searched many shed options in the East Bay, and Shed Mania was the clear winner in terms of quality. Other options were either too low quality (think tool shed quality) or they were pre-fabbed and offered no customization. John, Song, and his crew were great to work with and they came up with great ideas that optimized the usage of my available backyard space as well as local restrictions to avoid needing a permit. They worked quickly and diligently, and it was cool to see my office shed built from scratch in a few weeks. I cannot say enough good things about John, Song, and the entire Shed Mania crew! John ensures you feel like youre their only client at all times (though they are very busy!), and is very patient with ensuring your scope of work is exactly what you want. We had several scope changes during the course of the build, and each time they listened to our concerns and ensured they were addressed. We were particular about wiring locations for speaker wire, ethernet, tv and they ensured everything was exactly as we wanted. John made a great suggestion about the siding trim to match our house and it looks great! We couldnt be happier with the overall end result and its truly the focal point of our yard.John and Song are both very genuine people, and when the crew was onsite they even helped us build a small structure in our garage (out of scope), and extended our porta potty rental due to the immediate yard remodel right after.Highly recommend the Shed Mania crew!!!

We love Shed Mania and would recommend them to anyone interested in building a shed for their home.We needed more room and decided we wanted a new shed in our backyard. Living in San Francisco this meant some specific zoning issues. We talked to several contractors and their quotes were too high or did not allow us to customize the shed to what we wanted. We found Shed Mania on yelp and connected with John. John got back to us quickly, gave us a fair quote and allowed us to make modifications and customize to what we wanted, including installing solar. He was incredibly responsive (even while on vacation!) and provided incredibly helpful advice throughout the process.Our shed is 12 x 8 to stay within the legal zoning rules of San Francisco. The odd size meant some out-of-the-normal workflow for John and his crew, but everything was handled well and within a timely fashion. We also had a small issue of a neighbor calling the City on us. We met with a City Inspector and the issue was resolved quickly. Johns crew were hard-working, courteous, and professional. Song, their lead contractor, was always super responsive by text and easy to work with. They completed our shed in roughly three weeks. They even worked weekends when our shed was put on hold for a few days due to the City being called.Overall, the experience was great, and we have a beautiful shed that we love! We strongly recommend John and Shed Mania.

We wanted to get a shed for our sloping land and looked around at usual places - Home Depot, Lowes, Tuff Shed directly, and some other shed companies. We were not able to find anyone who was willing to take on the job end to end. Everyone would ask for a platform to be created with a level surface so they can come in and build the shed on top. Shed Mania on the other hand said theyll take care of everything start to finish including any foundation or posts needed for the shed. The project went hassle free. There were some issues that we noticed but when we pointed them out John and Song fixed them without any back and forth. The project by itself wouldve earned a 5-star rating from me. But when we got some damage to the shed due to recent storms (tree branches falling etc), they came by and fixed them without any hassle. They didnt have to but they did. This to me was even beyond 5-star rating but unfortunately yelp only allows a max of 5. I highly recommend this team for any shed building needs.

I would highly recommend Shed Mania to anyone looking to build an office/gym shed! John, Song, and team built a 100 sq. ft office shed in 2 weeks from start to finish. The entire team was super communicative and professional. Since my backyard does not have direct access from the street, the team had to move in and out of my house. This meant moving large and heavy materials through the house. The team was super careful, and did not even scratch a wall. In addition, they were mindful of me and my wife working from home. The construction process was organized and clean. The fit and finish was top notch. Everything from the paint, HVAC, to the lighting fixtures were done to spec. They really delivered a finished product that was able to be utilized when finished. I would have no doubt in hiring Shed Mania for future projects, or recommending them to anyone.

During the pandemic, my husband and I realized that we needed some additional office space - working from our living room and our bedroom was no longer sustainable. We reached out to Shed Mania. John was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process, making the sign-up process seamless.Due to the high demand, there was a wait time of a few months. Luckily, our project was able to start earlier than anticipated.The construction crew worked during the week, keeping the noise level at a minimum throughout the construction phase. They cleaned up at the end of each day which we really much appreciated. At various phases of the project, Song, John’s partner, came by to check in on the progress and give the team direction. Song handled the electrical work as well as the finishing touches.We could not be more thrilled with the end result. Song and John were really flexible with our last-minute updates and open to suggestions as well. We just had our shed completed by ShedMania and it’s even better than we hoped that it could be! John was so responsive and everyone on the team was so easy to work with! I was concerned with how loud or messy the project would be but it was remarkably unobtrusive! They handled everything and got done on budget and time! I looked at a lot of ADU companies and ShedMania was cost efficient and perfect if you are hoping to have it all handled for you- you just get to make a few easy and fun decisions froma design perspective and the rest is taken care of for you! I found John through yelp and had an amazing experience working with him. We have a tiny backyard and wanted to build a cost-efficient office. We ended up going with an 8x6 shed from tuffshed but were looking for a team to help us finish it out. John was the first person I called and I must say it was the most transparent conversation Ive had with a contractor yet. He was able to give me a quote as to how much it would cost to finish out my shed on the phone, said that they would be able to get started within a week or so and that the whole project would take around 1.5 - 2 weeks to complete. Everything he said on the phone was true. They provided me a quote sight unseen, his team came the week of thanksgiving to get started and wrapped up the following week (1.5 weeks total, even with the thanksgiving holiday). Their work quality was super, Im incredibly happy with the result and would highly recommend John to any of my family and friends. I know that we likely paid a slight premium for the work but it was well worth it given the speed and quality of the project.

Frankly, I wasnt planning on getting a shed. In fact, for a while I wished my wife hadnt seen the beautiful office shed the Shed Mania guys built for one of her friends. But since getting a She-Shed for workouts, having a quiet place for herself, and enjoying the afternoon sun was her dream, I went along with it. And I became the main contact for Shed Mania. And whatever concerns I had about the project, quickly dissipated. I was probably not the easiest client to work with, as I am very detail-oriented and closely monitored the workmanship, but John and Song proved to be very responsive during the planning and design process, as well as the actual construction phase. Our shed is fully permitted and when the building department came back with specific requirements, they quickly found budget-friendly solutions. Shed Mania made sure, materials and workmanship were top notch, they completed the construction faster than we expected, and convinced me that even a guy like me can see the value in a She-Shed. :-)

Shed Mania just completed the installation of our new backyard she-shed. 10x12 stand-alone room, with HVAC, lights, fully-finished, nice laminate floors, really all of what we wanted. The process from start to finish was very efficient. We had to wait a little bit to get scheduled, but I was theorizing that this was a successful business with a stream of customers, so I was actually more comfortable with the selection. And now I know my theory was for sure correct. Once my turn in the schedule came up they were speedy and clean and get the work done in the team planned (actually a few days less). Im very happy with the 10x12 shed they built for me. The quality of the work exceeds my expectation. Price is reasonable. John, Song and their team are a pleasure to work with. They are very nice people. It took just over 2 weeks to build. When the shed was about to finish, Song came and carefully inspected the shed, and made sure the small detects are fixed by his crew.Highly recommend them if you want to build any kind of shed in your backyard.

They did a beautiful job of building our shed. I would call it our backyard studio rather than a shed. Kids now go in there to play every day. John and Song have been extremely responsive. The whole project took less than 3 weeks from start to finish, which was impressive as its common to see constant delays in home construction these days. The building process is very similar to that of a real house: foundation piers, framing with 2x4 studs, electrical wiring, insulation, dry wall, exterior siding, multiple layers of painting, flooring and lighting. The crew are experienced and hard working. The exterior colors (including the entry door) match perfectly with our main house, so the unit looks like a natural extension. Id recommend Shed Mania to anyone who wants more than a simple Home Depot shed.

Let me start off by saying that I typically do not write reviews. With that said, John and Song have been nothing short of amazing throughout the entire process from the first call through to helping me out with things months after the completion of the job.Literally everything that I asked about was answered and taken care of no matter how small the detail was. I can be a detail obsessed kind of guy, (to put it lightly), and I simply cannot praise them enough for their skill, customer service, attention to detail, and every aspect of the experience.Ive made it a point to tell all of my neighbors and friends to check them out, going so far as to invite neighbors in to check out their work.Not to belabor a point, but I think that they are really on to something. Many of us working from home typically use a bedroom to convert into office space. This isnt the most practical if you have children, etc. Having a separate space means that I have a space that was designed for work. This is a major luxury, and Im happy as can be with it!
