I highly recommend Dr. Johnson. I went to him for help with TMJ/clenching. My night guard I had previously to Dr. Johnson was aggravating my TMJ and making my jaw sore. Dr. Johnson was the first doctor to truly listen to this (previous doctors told me there was no way). He then made me a new night guard designed specifically to help relax my jaw, rather than just protect my teeth like my old one. The cherry on top was that even after giving me the night guard, he scheduled a follow up a few weeks later to check in and make some extra adjustments based on my feedback. I’m already feeling better with this new night guard.Donna is fantastic as well. She’s so responsive and worked on figuring out all the nuances of my insurance. Took all the stress off of me to figure out pricing. Thank you, Donna - you made this so easy!

Donna the front office manager is wonderful. She is efficient, timely and responsive.Later in life, after I was financially able and could commit to the time & expense required, I had a complete teeth reconstruction [28 crowns (caps)] in my early sixties, due to years of bruxing (Grinding) which was completed about 9 + years ago.Due to the prior 19 months of orthodontic work (Braces). o re-align my bite and straighten my teeth. [This was my second time having braces. I had them for 2 years as a teenager.] which was completed prior to the 3-6 months of prosthodontic work (Crowns) my mouth felt great! Dr. Johnson and my Orthodontist worked closely together & consulted regularly about the work on my teeth.After the entire process was completed, my speech was clearer, eating & chewing was more efficient. My teeth felt very natural.Since all this work was completed in 2013, anyone who is in the business and has seen my crowns at a distance, then up close and tells me what perfect looking teeth I have. Then when I tell them, these are manufactured teeth! They without fail, cannot believe it and always compliment me on what a superb NATURAL/REAL looking, perfect, set of teeth, I have.In the first 1-5 years I had to have several crowns reset because they came loose. Dr. Peter F. Johnson made the necessary re-setting at no additional charges. At the outset, Dr. Johnson had made me aware that some crowns might come loose later on. Since this happened, just as he had said it might, I was not surprised when this potential issue did occur and I had to have the several loose crowns re-set.In the prior 4 years, my crowns have worked flawlessly. I have had no issues. I make regular annual CHECK-UP visits. I wear my Prosthodontic NIGHT GUARD every night, on my maxillary (UPPER) teeth without fail. I also wear an Orthodontic RETAINER on my mandibular (Lower) teeth. This nightly maintenance has kept my teeth from moving and has maintained my perfect bite. When I had my braces the first time, as a teenager, I was told I only had to wear the mandibular RETAINER for two years after my braces were removed! That late sixties, advice and recommendation turned out to be TOTALLY WRONG! Had I known and I had I been instructed correctly that the wearing of the orthodontic RETAINER would be a lifetime maintenance process, I mostly likely would have/could have save tens of thousands of dollars in my late fifties & early sixties!This is a VERY VALUABLE HINT to those of you reading this. Heed the advice about the LONG TERM REQUIRED maintenance, especially if you are YOUNG!Dr. Peter Johnson is a true ARTIST and an exemplary CRAFTSMAN. He is one of the best Prosthodontist in the County and probably in southern California.Good luck, having a FULL MOUTH RECONSTRUCTION is not fun, it is painful, it is expensive. However, in the end, when all is said and done, I believe for me, it was worth every dollar and each and every month it required.

Dr. Peter Johnson replaced my aging dentures and they are perfect. He is meticulous and made sure the dentures fit just right. Now my bite is improved and these dentures are much more comfortable than the old ones. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson. Thank you to Donna and Linda for your help.

Dr. Johnson is a true professional. Before choosing who to go to I found out there are only a handful of prosthodontis in San Diego County. I chose the best because Dr. Johnson is very considerate and put in the extra care to make sure I was happy with the outcome. He is truly an expert at all he does. His whole staff is excellent, and his office manager Donna makes you feel comfortable the minute you walk through the door. She goes out of her way to make you feel special. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson and his staff for the best service available.

I went to Dr.Johnson with worn out & broken full mouth acrylic prosthetics. They meticulously fitted & installed a new Zirconia set of teeth. Big difference in appearance & confidence. They also schedule appointments separately, no waiting and very discrete. Linda & Donna are very caring and attentive. Excellent experience.

We (My spouse I) have been patients of Dr. Johnson going on 10+ years. My spouse has had 3 implants & several crowns all with excellent outcomes. I have received a full mouth restoration of some 28 crowns completed about 3 years ago. Whew! It was quite an experience. Im most pleased with the end result. I regularly receive compliments on how natural my teeth look especially from my hygienist. In addition to looking great they work well after the initial adjustments were completed. Dr. Johnson continues to follow up and provides ongoing care and maintenance. He has stood behind his word and work whenever there has been an issue. We feel confident we receive the very best work & service from Dr. Johnson & staff. We highly recommend him for any prosthodontic needs. Dr. Johnson does incredible work and truly cares about his patients. He not only is naturally gifted but also has the eduction, credentials, experience, and knowledge to be the best prosthodontist in the United States, if not the world. There is no case so severe that he would not be able to treat. A true miracle worker. He also has an incredible staff- the office manager, assistant, and lab technician are very professional and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I feel extremely fortunate to be his patient.

I was researching for a new dentist in the area since I am new to La Mesa. Not only a dentist but a prosthodentist. On the website I was already impressed with Dr. Johnson’s qualifications, but in person he really surpassed my expectations. Besides that, Donna, the front desk lady at his office is not only polite and courteous, but always available to help us. She was incredibly helpful with a personal matter and I just knew I was in great hands and being helped by a very trustworthy professional. I am very grateful to Dr. Johnson and Donna.

I have been going to Dr. Johnson for several years now and he is an exemplary prosthodontist. I had a catastrophe with my partials some years ago and no one, but no one could resolve my situation. I was referred to Dr. Johnson and life and my dental conditions have been very fulfilling and rewarding. Dr. Johnson always seem to come up with a solution to the problem. Creating new partials, filling gaps, placing support post in place, he solves the problem. He is very creative and persistent in getting the job done. Make no mistake, Dr. Johnson will find a solution. He is professional and task orientated with a little humor on the side. He also has wonderful reading materials in office. Dr. Johnson is assisted by a knowledgeable and friendly staff who go the extra mile to make you feel completely comfortable. Im dont normally write reviews but I want to publicly recognize Dr. Peter Johnsons knowledge and skill and to share my positive experience with his team. Before I became a patient at SDDIS, I had long-standing problems with my prosthetic teeth. Under Dr. Johnsons care, my problem was solved and I finally feel that I have properly aligned jaws and effective full dental implants. Dr. Johnson and his staff have been very accommodating for my prosthetic work. I was referred to him by the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia (nfed.org). He was very responsive and willing to work with me as an out of state patient and to make sure my treatment goals were met. He went out of his way to answer all of my questions and advise me on my dental implant options. He also coordinated the implant procedure with an oral surgeon in the area (Mission Valley Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery).My procedure and follow up work took place during the pandemic and I always felt safe in his office (temp checks at the door and ionizers in the rooms). Dr. Johnson always had availability to see me and even answer my calls after hours when I felt there was an issue (following surgery). His staff are cordial and professional; always willing to go the extra mile whether it be with scheduling or making me feel comfortable in the chair. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnson and his staff to others considering all on four dental implants.

Just took my 90 year old mother back to Dr. Johnson to have her lower denture completely relined. She had it originally made 21 years ago. Amazing how well it has lasted. Dr. Johnson could have easily recommended a new denture but said that was an unnecessary expense. The reline is working great, and shes very happy. Dr. Johnson is extremely competent, efficient and very fair in his charges.

Dr. Peter Johnson knows the meaning of customer care! About 25 years ago I had an implant put in, recently the abutment screw became stripped and needed to be replaced. I found out that they didn’t make the abutment screw anymore locally. However, Dr Johnson managed to find the manufacture and ordered it for me. He went above and beyond, as other dentists did not. Everyone at the office is awesome and really follow up with their patients. I will continue as a satisfied customer and will be referring friends and family!

I had a great experience at Dr. Johnsons office for sleep apnea. His expertise was impressive and he was thorough and attentive. My sleep apnea problem is now cured - he fitted a device for inside my mouth that pulls my jaw out while I sleep. Amazing! The staff and Donna, the front desk/scheduler, were friendly and more than accommodating. I highly recommend Dr. Peter Johnson - he is very professional and truly a nice person. Thumbs up!

DO NOT GO HERE FOR an OSA SLEEP APNEA APPLIANCE!I received a custom appliance from Dr. Johnson through Sharp (before they discontinued working with him due to many patient complaints of malpractice).My teeth began shifting from the mouthpiece within a few months, and Dr. Johnson attempted to tell me that it could not be because of the mouthpiece (despite the obvious effect and many research articles stating otherwise). My jaw and bite has shifted within 2 years due to the mouthpiece, and I now have an underbite due to his haphazard placement of the mouthpiece, which involved no precision or optimal placement. He argued that I could not possibly have had an overbite and denied any possible causal relationship. Sadly, I have heard account of other patients requiring jaw surgery after using his appliance.When molding the mouthpiece, he did not check my airway or the outcome of the device in relation to my sleep apnea. On my most recent routine adjustment, he made an entirely incorrect style of mouthpiece than we had agreed upon (was supposed to lock in front bottom teeth because they were shifting), and he seemed to point his frustration towards me when I told him it was incorrect.Dr. Johnson showed a combination of incompetence and arrogance in my visits with him. He does not seem up to date on current research and practices, and most likely has not adapted his methods since he was in school many years ago. Sharp Rees Stealy no longer works with him for a very good reason. He used to be the only option covered under insurance, but now they refer patients elsewhere after collecting years of complaints and claims of malpractice.

Dr. Johnson is very caring and professional. He immediately made me feel comfortable and really listened to my concerns. One week after using my nighttime bite guard, I already had marked improvement and one month later, the alignment of my bite continues to improve and my pain continues to decrease. I am trying to avoid oral surgery for as long as possible and Dr. Johnson is definitely helping me to do so. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson!

Peter Johnson is an amazing, I had two emergency visits with him and he fixed me right up better then it was before. I broke a veneer front tooth, bad break about half of it was missing. I also had a plane to catch that afternoon and he was able to get me in that morning and out in about an hour. I did not think it was going to be fixable but not only was he able to repair it, he made it look better then it was before. I was blown away with the results. I was so impressed with his results and how amazing his staff was, i am now doing new veneers and implants with him. I highly recommend you see Peter Johnson before you go any where else. You will not find a better place or better results anywhere. I could not even get my dentist to help me at all. For now on i will only go to Peter Johnson.

The experience that I had with Dr. Peter and his staff especially Ms. Donna. I truly dont like going to the dentist, but it was for a different reason that I had to go see him. I am pleased to say that Dr. Peter had to make me a mouth guard that was meant for me to use considering I have sleep apnea and snore. So with his help, he made my device and I was pleased. So if you ever want a dentist that is gentle and have the best bedside manners, then Dr. Peter Johnson is the one to see. I mean that he does the cosmetic, implants and dentures. Which at this time I dont need. But truthfully he is the best. Ms. Donna I am so glad that I got the chance to come and see Dr. Peter and you. Tell Dr. Peter I will miss him and you as well. Ive been Doctor Johnsons patient for 15 years and I am one of the fussiest people when it comes to my teeth and smile. Dr Johnson is truly amazing! Even in these trying Covid times. I had a wonderful & caring experience. From his office manager, Donna,to his chairside assistant, to Dr Johnsons care,humor & personal care. Even though we had to deal with a few delays,due to Covid,the finished product fit well,no soreness, Dr Johnsons professional touch was there. Donna is an amazing office manager & is very friendly & helpful. I will never go to another prothodontis other than Dr Johnson!

Please add five (5) more stars to Dr. Peter Johnsons review. An emergency dental implant emergency led me to Dr. Johnson. Six implants initially implanted in Toronto, Canada, lost their grip and my entire upper appliance fell out! Dr. Johnsons perseverance, patience and determination to help me were impressive and remarkable. Dr. Johnsons team was kind, helpful, accommodating and, most important, managed to solve what seemed to be an impossible puzzle. I am coming back from Toronto for a follow up with Dr. Johnson in September... that is how much faith I have in his ability to solve my problem.

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnsons for almost 7 years now. I am a very unique patient as typically Dr. Johnson is preparing these specialized dentures for much older individuals. I was 25 years old when I needed a full oral replacement due to a genetic disorder called Dentinogenesis imperfecta. This was a tough experience for someone my age to have to go through, but Dr. Johnson and his team made the experience something to remember. From the first appointment Dr. Johnson was open, honest, and with no other word to describe it better very BLUNT with me. He was honest about all of the options and to my surprise did not suggest the most expensive option for me. Looking into my age and history we found a middle package that met the needs I had and would also hold up the best over my lifetime. Without Dr. Johnson I do not know where I would be in my battle with my old teeth, but I am so grateful I dont have to worry about that. If you have the option make Dr. Johnson your choice!

Just had my denture plate remade. This is the fourth denture plate that Ive had in my life. My first time seeing Dr. Johnson. He listened and evaluated my denture experience. Determined, I needed a metal plate in my denture, along with porcelain teeth. Because I have a very strong bite. This satisfied my problems in the past of teeth wearing out too soon in my denture plate fracturing right down the middle. Very satisfied with his work and his willingness to make any changes as necessary. Very little was needed! So yes, I highly recommend him! Ken HallCox

I have known Doctor Johnson close to twenty years, since I presented him with a big challenge for restoring the function to my lower jaw because of partial surgical removal of eight teeth!He has done an admirable job which only a capable and knowledgeable prosthodontist will do.I periodically visit him for check ups. It is a pleasure to walk in, be greeted by Dona his office manager, and spend time in the chair with him. Previously I had wore a special night guard appliance for TMJ that over many years I had found it had to be made by a surgeon that specialize in my kind of case. My original surgeon retired and Dr Johnson step in to make adjustments in my old night guard with out a hitch. Then I had a bike wreck that broke my mouth into seven pieces . Dr Peter Johnson and his staff were very helpful in getting my authorization approved for a new night guard in a timely manor, scheduling me in for an appointment and helping me manage my case between: insurance my dentist and there office.. Once I had healed enough, Dr Johnson and his staff stepped in to truly take care of me making sure I received a night guard that works extremely well with my remodeled mouth. AND they all worked to see that I got the care I needed, when I needed it.

I can tell you that the staff at DDS Howard Feffer, and DDS Javier Valadez dental practice has been exceptional! I went in needing an extensive solution and dreading the information. I can tell you that I was greeted warmly, not judged, and provided with an option that was workable for me. As far as the outcome is concerned....... I am very pleased! will be able to participate in family functions without being self conscious. The options provided to me were reasonable and affordable. I feel the staff went Above & Beyond!I highly recommend DR. Feffer & Dr. Valadez as well as the assisting staff!
