One of the few online coverages services that actually provides good actionable notes that make it clear the reader read the script. Many other companies doing this sort of thing are cursory at best. The coverage pass is a worthwhile investment to figure out where your big developmental challenges are as you begin the long process of going from good to great.

This is my first screenplay and, thus, it was understandably pretty rough. The notes were very professional, well thought out and constructive. I incorporated many of the suggestions that pointed out blind spots that I honestly would have never seen, being so new to the art form. I feel my screenplay reader thoroughly read through my script and cared about helping me to make it the best it could be. Well worth the money!

Best notes out of any coverage service or competition! Ive been working on my script for awhile and sent it out to quite a few places for notes, but these are by far the most helpful. And I got notes in 48 hours! Theyre a great blend analysis and critique for what could be better. I also love the diversity rating, and their detailed rating system helps easily identify what needs work. They also have great customer service thats very personable and makes you feel like youre dealing with real people and not automated systems. Will definitely come back!

I prepaid for a 3 reader package, applying a coupon they claimed was invalid but went through - and then refused to return my money. They also refused to review my screenplay until I rescinded my negative comments online and paid the difference. I told them that I would do so if they provided the coverage. Brian made some incredibly misogynistic comments about me in follow-up correspondence, refused my offer, and kept my money. All for a coupon. They took my comment down from their site, so - years later - Im putting it back up - and will keep doing so - until I get my 100% satisfaction guarantee honoured.

I was absolutely impressed by how much care was put into the coverage. Ive paid for a couple other reading services before, but this is the first time where I was completely SATISFIED and actually felt heard, in this specific case, read. Meaning the great and professional reader, PD, picked up what I was trying to put down and was able to give strong constructive criticism on how to strengthen my scripts weaknesses AND strengthen my scripts strong aspects even more. Whereas with other reading services most of the time it feels like the readers only give one paragraphs worth of feedback and call it a day. Not Screenplay Readers. You get your bang for your buck with their coverage!

I’m extremely happy with the coverage I received. Got tons of suggestions, most I completely agree with, some not quite, which is expected. But none were off base and all were worth thinking about. Bottom line, I am going to actually act on these notes and I’m excited to do so, which is exactly what you would want from a coverage service. Getting good grades is nice but being able to see where the changes need to be made is far more important and I feel like I got that from my reader. I would not hesitate going back to them again. Money well spent!

My experience with Screenplay Readers has been fantastic. My writing career is in the upswing, but I always prefer to have my screenplays go through professional analysis before I send it to my manager.I really appreciate that the site lets you know who is reading your material and what their credentials are. This alone puts Screenplay Readers above other similar coverage services. When I had a question, I received a prompt response. They seem nice and on top of things.I submitted my script for a 2 reader review. The first one I received a very strong consider, while the second received a soft consider. The notes where very positive and helpful for review 1. On review 2, although I disagreed with many points, I still found a few suggestions to be helpful.Overall a very good site to have someone look at your script to get a sense if its ready for the market. Many of my readers points were the very things that I was most concerned about, and his suggestions will go a long way to improving the work.I realize, of course, that the pass I received is something that all writers must confront and deal with if they expect to go on. This has been the second time Ive run versions of the same script passed the reader. Again, the critique was very thorough and highly supportive. It identified continuing weak areas (as well as strong ones). Theres still a way to go. The readers candour (sympathetically expressed) was welcome. Theres no point in kidding oneself that the material is better than it is if no one will buy it at the end of the day!Highly impressed. More thorough than I expected. I was amazed by the completeness and accuracy of the synopsis, almost understanding the story better than I do! The script notes made uncomfortable reading, indicating the need for a total rewrite, but detailed suggestions show me how to do it. It was motivational that the script reader understood what Im trying to do with the period (Summer of Love era). While pulling no punches, he also recognised the plus-points in the material. I intend to come back to Screenplay Readers in due course with my reworked effort.

I am quite happy with my experience with Screenplay Readers. They delivered on everything they said they would do. The feedback was prompt (3 business days) and the script notes were thorough and detailed. As promised, the reader identified specific problems, why she thought they were problems, and then offered potential solutions. They deliver in spades whats advertised on their site and I was more than pleased with the recent coverage of my feature script. Unlike other services, Screenplay Readers coverage report is extremely well-organized and easy to navigate, breaking down 22 categories with a 1-100 rating system to include several pages of in-depth, story-related feedback. They produced the coverage quickly (overnight) and it’s clear that the reader read the script thoroughly. So those are positives.I wouldn’t use this service again. I selected the reader I wanted (which cost me extra) based on her bio, but I can’t say that she read the script with any noteworthy level of nuance, or that she seemed to understand my script better than any other reader might have. She gave my script a pretty good score (77.7 overall), and provided several pages of comments, but her comments seemed rather schematic and production line, designed to make my script look more like every other script, rather than helping to make it more like the script I aim to write. There’s not much in her notes that I can use as I move into the next draft. Her answers to my follow-up questions were equally uninspired.Honestly, I’ve gotten more insightful comments from Black List readers, and even from Coverfly peer notes.One other thing to note: unlike many other coverage services, you can’t provide the reader with the genre for your script or a logline, and you can’t submit comments ahead of time to alert them to scenes or themes or characters that you think may need close attention. And the way their payment system is set up, it’s not clear that you’re not allowed any of that until after you’ve paid them.

I recently purchased “2 Script Readers.” The first coverage was very insightful, which came with constructive feedback and actionable items. It was obvious that the reader carefully read the script and understood it.The second coverage, however, clearly showed that the reader misread or didn’t fully read the script. This reader, who included the synopsis, missed some crucial dialogue and plot points throughout the script. I’m not talking about anything ambiguous as the first reader seems to have understood them all. For example, the family decides to stay together at the end of the movie, and the last scene takes place at their new home. The second reader’s synopsis says that the family decides to send the sick mother away and they visit her in the hospital at the end of the script.I understand that this process is inherently subjective; therefore, the quality of the coverage highly depends on the reader assigned. But that’s why the overall service management is important. The initial email said, “If you have any questions or concerns about your script coverage or your service, just reply to this email. Were here to help!” So I replied back the next day with my concerns, letting them know several specific examples from the problematic coverage.There was no response from Screenplay Readers, so I followed up after a week. It’s been almost two weeks now, and I still have not received a reply yet. Although their email says, “We are here to help,” I don’t think they meant what they said.

I just got some feedback from Screenplay Readers. I got the 2-reader package for notes. I really like this option, as its always good to get a balanced view of feedback. See whats the same and whats not.I got one reader who really understood what I was trying to do with the story, and gave me excellent feedback and well thought out, in depth suggestions. She also gave me (big) notes in a positive way and took the time to explain her ideas behind them. I will definitely use her feedback to improve my script. And I will re-submit my script to her once Ive done the rewrite to get her feedback again. If it were only her feedback, I would be giving a 5 star rating!However, the second bit of feedback I got wasnt quite as useful. The reader did outline valid elements of the script that arent working (and what is working), so thats certainly useful, however his suggestions werent in line with the story being told, nor did they feel very considered. Still, I would consider it useful feedback. As it was, it was a good 2nd set to reinforce what the 1st reader said. And I can leave the suggestions that didnt make sense to me, as I have all the excellent suggestions from the 1st reader.Overall, I have found Screenplay Readers to use qualified and sensitive readers, and I always get useful advise when I use their services. I cant say that for many other services Ive used! Ill certainly continue to use Screenplay Readers! And very reasonable price as well!

Having three readers proved a wise decision as it illustrated similarities and differences regarding issues with the script. The readers did a thorough job of analyzing the script and providing solid feedback. The feedback was understandable, clear, and objective. The best part is the readers didnt just point out problems, they offered solutions, which will prove help in future drafts of the script. I was dubious about paying for script coverage at first but, after comparing several script coverage companies, I decided to take a chance on Screenplay Readers. Their website lays out their process clearly and I LOVED that they provide bios on their readers (most services tell you nothing about their readers or work experience). After reading their customer reviews and seeing that their readers were actual industry professionals, I submitted my short film for coverage (a nice option if youre just starting out and dont have a lot of cash to spare). I received the coverage less than 2 days later (amazingly quick!) and TZs comments were extremely helpful and motivating. I paid for Screenplay Coverage of my feature film script. It was one of the worst reviews I have ever seen. Not because of the critiques, but because the actual review contained grammatical errors and wrong story plot points as well as character names.My reader wrote like a low level ESL student who was doing a rushed school assignment. If I hadnt shelled out over a hundred dollars, I might be a bit more forgiving. But for professional coverage I was astounded at the amount of grammatical errors I saw.Now, I contacted the company and I said, we can make this right, if you assign my script to a different reader since, I felt the quality of my first reader was below professional standards. They havent replied since and it has been a week. They were quick to take my money, but Im not asking for my money back, just to have my script appropriately judged.So, in essence. buyer beware. Take your money and your features elsewhere. I didnt get a quality reader and I didnt even get a response from the email I sent them. For that, I thank them. They have their own selves to blame for this review.

I was expecting my script to be perfect and when told it wasnt I was very annoyed. And then a few days after I had read the coverage by Screenplay Readers, I read my script again. Lo and behold, the reader was right! There were significant changes to be made. I thought it through and suddenly, the ideas for my revisions started to flow from my keyboard. Next time I submit my script, it will get an even higher rating than the 80+ it got the first time. Ive been using Screenplay Readers for over a year now. I have sent two different drafts of two versions of a screenplay that Ive also sent to a small handful of competitions as well as gotten some pitch responses back.I can say, without question, that I truly believe the readers at Screenplay Readers are not only knowledgeable in variations of script nuance, but are willing to trust the writer and provide feedback that is incredibly constructive. My scripts tend to be of the not commercially-viable aesthetic, and of the 6 readers (5, technically. Shout out to BH for having read a first and second draft of my first script and still treating both like a fresh read while commenting on key changes from first to second) Ive had, there was only one that I felt didnt really connect with the script, but even that reader was still respectful and offered suggestions to better the overall story as well as formatting and related micro-issues.Massive thanks to everyone at Screenplay Readers. My participation was successful to the extent that I now know that the material is unusable according to market criteria and does not have to be worked out further. However, I would not have needed three opinions for that. I thought that I could benefit from the analysts different perspectives, but I got a template of all three about the subject: three acts, protagonist, crisis.I know its bad when you have to explain details of the work, but I was surprised that none of it was noticed at all. The background seemed to me quite clearly recognizable that it is the 8th day of the creation story of the world.The premise is that there is always only war, destruction and inhumanity:And so the Lord decided to take the stones outof the board and re-set the game The story clearly takes place in just one day (the 8th day of creation) and in a year. So there are no 3 acts and the acting persons appear when they actively intervene in the action. Negative and not usable.Other details were also only rated negatively where I thought it was clear what was meant (ministers who give orders to shoot people have no names but only functions, etc.) The human have names.My conclusion: 65 pass is not enough to continue.

They are only interested in voicing their opinion on how they would write YOUR script, not how to improve it. What a total waste. Avoid them. Trust your own instincts and inner guidance. That’s why objective feedback is so important in the creative process. JF gave me a logline and synopsis that was on point. I chose a more depth help(development notes) rather than just coverage. I know my story and dont needed it repeated however I knew it wasnt ready and wanted help. Chris gave me an objective feedback- warts and all. I learnt a lot from the feedback which went through page by page picking up mistakes and giving helpful feedback on how things could be improved eg shifting scenes around, adding other scenes to help clarity, cutting some lines which were clunky and fixing formatting, spelling errors and errors where I thought things were explained but werent. Getting help from others means you have to be prepared for criticism which you may or may not accept. The feedback was what I needed for a rewrite. Thank you screenplay readers.

Hi Thanks for engaging my script. It has taken a huge amount of time and energy to get to this place. Thank you also for your high score 95 re dialogue & other areas. Where I find the review to be possibly lacking is that the consideration is that the script must fit into a specific genre so neatly & That every lose end must tie up - that isnt how it is in crime in South Africa - less than 10 % of crime gets to court - so not every criminal in the story gets caught - also I purposely left character threads undone - hoping audiences will reflect on the film after theyve left the cinema or switched off the monitor.The reviewer wished all the characters in the story to resolve neatly & the script was severely penalised for these elements and as such the review cannot be used to present to producers/distributors. VIP I dont wish for the film to be so generic or genre and all the boxes to be ticked. However, I am grateful for the considerations - I feel the money is well spent (its my second review with your company and the first was more helpful possibly - but also wanted genre bases to be ticked.. I will review the critique in detail for the next drafts rewrite - we hope to shoot in May 2017.. RegardsMark

They provide decent enough information, and their notes are typical Syd Field-style screenwriting 101 tropes. I think 2 stars is sufficient, but these are clearly inside-the-box readers who see so many terrible screenplays a week, they fall back on their reader jargon to fill up the pages. The worst kind of coverage is when the reader gives notes on the script that they would have written if they had your story. And some of the Screenplay Readers comments fall into that bucket. Sad.

I recently submitted a script which was reviewed by reader JF. I was extremely pleased with the coverage and the very helpful, detailed advice. JF gave me some easy, quick fixes along with some comprehensive notes in some major areas that required more thought. What was really helpful was having the opportunity to submit three questions to JF after acting on his suggestions. Im always suspicious of the motivations of consultants who either want to flaunt how much thy know about the nuts and bolts of structure, or who want to use the mechanics of structure, checking off points one by one -- completing the grocery list of their reviews. . Screenplay Readers appears to be one of those companies. I also noted some immaturity on the part of my reader -- never a good sign. I had just received reviews from a couple of working writer consultants and the differences are extreme. Surprisingly, pricing is never that much different between companies employing several readers vs. getting a personalized review. If youre not a person just getting into screenwriting Id recommend trying to get a review from a working writer who will continue talking to you after your results.
