Every time we visit SLO we have at least one visit to this downtown location of Scout coffee. It is usually very busy but the staff there is on their A game and takes care of customers very quickly. The space is airy and bright with some seating inside and out. Staff is always friendly and helpful as they are in all the Scout locations. There’s a good selection of coffee beans to take home. Good selection of fresh baked pastries and cookies. I got an almond milk latte with maple and sea salt, one of their seasonal flavors. It was really good. Friends got some cold brew coffees. My one friend wanted a growler of cold brew to take home but they don’t offer that here.But everyone left happy, thanks Scout coffee.

Best coffee in SLO, hands down!! Tried a vanilla bean latte, a Gibraltar, and a cappuccino. All were excellently pulled and prepared, with perfect milk to coffee ratios and impeccable micro foam. Lots of homemade syrups. Will try the brown sugar and whiskey next. Oat bar was good. Street parking right outside. Definitely recommend!!! Cute gift shop area and clean bathrooms to boot!

First time in this restaurant and definitely trying it again in my next visit to SLO. I loved this coffee place only bad thing it was full (On a Saturday) Good for business but not good for my first time wanting to have the full experience. I sat at the outside tables, it was a very nice morning to sit outside so I enjoyed that environment a lot. The service was fast-paced, friendly and organized. The order took some time to come out but I took into consideration how many orders were ahead of me. I loved their sweets I tried two; chocolate croissant and blackberry almond croissant. So delicious!! My coffee was a latte with oat-milk and the sunshine syrup which was tangerine and cinnamon…. Amazing!!! Their serving sizes were big enough to make it my breakfast meal instead of a snack with coffee. I recommend this place note; my experience was outside I spent little time inside, made my order, pay, take my order and eat outside. It was marvelous. I took the dishes back inside of course I ordered dine in but I did it “dine out”. Inside well you must enjoy places where you wait until a table gets empty and possibly wait until is cleaned or you clean it yourself with what you can etc. I’m sure the service is great enough that they would help you out in any way they can to accommodate you. Again I went on a Saturday maybe is not like that everyday. Hope you enjoy it as much or better than I did.

We got some Amazing Affogatos and the gelato and espresso quality was amazing! We were blown away by the Aesthetic of this location and nothing but great vibes. Highly recommend stopping by and soaking in the sunshine and coffee here :)

This coffee shop is absolutely great! They have cold and hot coffee, tea and the atmosphere is welcoming. The actual look of the place is very neat and clean but doesn’t have a modern or minimalist look. They also sell different local and store based products. It’s located in the middle of downtown, within walking distance to many restaurants and cafes.I would recommend this place to those looking for a consistently great coffee, great atmosphere and loving locals!

The pastries and coffee were great however the service was truly subpar. the only friendly staff was the man taking our order. when our order was ready, I did not hear a name get called but we seen people who came after us getting their coffee served. went up to check if the order staged was mine and the girl simply just said “yeah all of it” as if it hadn’t been sitting for a few minutes. would return for the food itself but not the service

Really fantastic coffee shop in the heart of downtown SLO! The vibes and decor are amazing. It’s a great spot to just hang out, or bring your laptop and get done work done. I’m honestly not a coffee expert… so I won’t go into depth about that… but it seemed good to me. It’s for sure a spot to check out if you’re in downtown SLO!

It wasn’t terrible. It was just a waste of money. I ordered a matcha, which was unfortunately pretty light in color and lacked flavor. My husband ordered the vanilla bean latte and that also honestly just tasted like milk :(The space was also occupied by a few fruit flies mingling about and one was spotted in the pastry display. Eek!The customer service was lacking, but I’m usually fine with little or no interaction if the food is tasty. This time it just wasn’t too tasty, so it had to be mentioned.

I’ve been to Scout Coffee three times so far and if I lived in the area, I would come here daily. The staff is super friendly, the location is amazing and the coffee is always very good. I usually get a latte and in the afternoons, I might grab a cookie too. Last time I got a ginger molasses cookie that was awesome. Unfortunately, my wife ate most of it so I had to go back for another and then realized it was $3.50 each. That’s a lot for a small cookie but it is tasty so I’ll just go with it.This shop seems to be a strong local hangout and considering just how many coffee and breakfast shops there are in this area, you must be good to survive. This is certainly one of the good ones.

Entering the place is a very welcome feels. Very neat and clean. The design inside the coffee shop is relaxing. I dont feel rush at all. The atmosphere is different. I felt really relax.The coffee and the hot chocolate I bought was tasty. Love the honey cinnamon scone. Its a must to taste.If you are near San Luis Obispo need to check it out. I highly recommend this place for a coffee stop and for coffee lover.

The coffee here is pretty good. average modern coffee shop, decent amount of foot traffic. The service has room for improvement, they made a mistake on my order and I waited a long time finally for help. no sorry, just remade my drink. Overall: 4.1/5Scout Coffee has a beautiful aesthetic and a cute little shop inside their store. Its very spacious and thoughtfully designed so thats why we chose to come here.Vanilla Bean Latte ($4.75/$5.25): I got their house made almond milk which is $0.75 extra. The drink was pretty good at the beginning but it didnt really taste like vanilla bean to me. Also, you should drink it quickly because it doesnt taste good after the ice melts.Matcha Honey Lavender Latte: This was one of their special/seasonal drinks so it wasnt on their regular menu board but on a smaller menu by the cashier. We got the house made almond milk for this drink too and asked them to make it extra sweet so they added more of their honey lavender syrup. The latte turned out to be really good and the better of the two. You can really taste the honey and lavender distinctively.

Solid coffee joint, would definitely revisit! I got the latte, lightly sweetened with their house made wilderness syrup, and I regret not stopping in for another cup before taking off to our next destination.Their coffee was great, but the vibe of the place was even better. Id love to have something like this to enjoy locally. If youre in the area for any reason and need a cup of coffee--or if you just kind of want one--this place is definitely worth detouring for!

Everyone in the shop was so nice and patient even with a line. I had the honey bowl tea that has soy milk, honey, and choice of tea. The most creamiest drink Ive had and the tastiest. If youre visiting make the effort to come try it out. Their pastries looked pretty good as well but did not try any. They also have a little gift shop inside where I bought this cute little bouquet of dried flowers.

This place was adorable! I picked up coffee on my way out of town and wished I could have stayed and enjoyed the space because it was so lovely... The lemon pistachio shortbread cookies and the Scout cookie were excellent... I ordered a butterscotch latte and accidentally received a plain latte but it was so good I couldnt really complain...They also have great little gifts and things in the store that are unique and beautiful....

While visiting SLO a friend recommended I try this place before I leave so I made it my last stop before heading home. The vanilla flavor of my vanilla latte wasn’t as present as I would have liked it but the taste of the espresso is just amazing. I dont frequent coffee places, I just typically dont have time and since I dont drink coffee that much I just rarely go. I heard about Scout through one of those Must Stop Places and decided to check it out. We had their Scout cookie, espresso, Chai Latte, straight coffee, hot chocolate, and a tea (which one escapes me at the moment). It was all good. The service from the moment we walked in the door was great. They were busy, but made sure to greet us and give us the the time we needed to navigate their menu. The ambiance was great, it is a hip (thats what the kids are calling it nowadays) place to go. I felt relaxed, in no rush to finish and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff played a huge part in us deciding to try more of their delicious beverages on the same trip. dont get me wrong the drinks were great, pretty, and very tasty, but the staff being so friendly and helpful made us decide we would get more while we were there. This is a place that I will make sure to stop and visit anytime I am downtown SLO! I would recommend anyone try it before hitting any of the other coffee places that abound in the area, they are an example of what great customer service and good coffee/cookies are all about!

This is a top 3 coffee shop in SLO. Theres a reason its always busy. The baristas always warmly welcome you in and incite a conversation at the register even if theres a line out the door. Both their coffee and baked goods are excellent. Power outlets seem non existent but my guess is thats by design. WiFi is available via password but its pretty unusable. Im not a fan of having to ask for a key to the bathroom but I understand the reasoning. My favorite drink has become the Golden Mylk!

Regardless, still a winner in my book!+ Very cute coffee shop with big windows, a decent amount of seating (some are very awkward and uncomfortable) and cute decor.+ Horrible and very slow wifi. If youre trying to get any real work that requires a stable connection, youll loose your f*cking mind here. Its impossible to load a web page, and forget about uploading even a small attachment to an email. After about 2 hours of trying to make it work, we had to leave to another cafe.+ Not many easily accessible outlets for charging devices. The only one we could find was right by the entrance door and against the wallpapered wall. Those stools are extremely uncomfortable and its not an easy place to work sitting in an awkward position.+ The place gets pretty crowded with people of all ages. You have students, remote workers, and people meeting up for afternoon pick me up. Its a very lively but chill ambiance.+ Personally, I feel like a lot of the space is wasted on retail. There is a whole section in the middle of the cafe thats just occupied with little nick knacks for sale. Its like a mini Urban Outfitters in the middle of the cafe that feels really unnecessary.+ They have one single stall restroom for customers. Its dark but very clean! I love me a clean restroom :)+ Service is very friendly and laid back.

Don’t get me wrong this place was great, especially the pastries. I recommend the chocolate raspberry scone!!! All theirs scones were FIRE! I also tried the lavender latte and the honey something latte, I can’t remember the name. It was so so good. The service…. Was ok….. kinda weirdly attitudey baristas and barely anywhere to sit with chargers. If you want to study here come prepared to not sit for long.

I’ve been going to scout for years! I’m surprised it’s taking me this long to do a review. Hands-down serves one of the best cups of coffee in California. I also would like to give the staff there Flowers being in a college town. They do have a high turnover, but Scout is good at hiring some of the best and most pleasant staff every time. Got here at 6:30am, their opening time. There was already a long line of prospective customers snaking out of the place. The nice thing was that they allow early comers to go in and wait indoors before the official door opening. It can be quite nippy here at San Luis Obispo in November. Also, they were very efficient and quickly took care of waiting for coffee customers.

Bustling place on a weekday morning. The place is not that big but pretty much every spot that was available to sit on was occupied. I was impressed. I tried their drip and was pretty happy with it. We walked around the area while sipping our drinks, which was my first time in downtown SLO, then returned to buy their coffee beans. Their beans are labeled HoneyCo, which was confusing. I would love to come back next time Im in the area.

This was truly a beautiful coffee shop with coffee to match! I visited because my future mother-in-law wanted me to bring down a bag of their decaf beans when visiting her on my road trip south, and as a coffee lover I decided to order a pour over as well. When I asked for one, the person working at the register pulled out all the beans they offered as pour over today with the tasting notes to have me select. I ended up trying their medium dark roast from Kenya and it was amazing! Between the atmosphere, the really kind and helpful staff, and the wonderful coffee I would definitely recommend any coffee lover to stop by!

My wife and I really enjoyed our Sunday morning coffee here. We got the vanilla latte and the matcha and wow we were impressed! Neither of these were overly sweet. Good outdoor seating area but they could use more tables and chairs as some people were standing around. Also, we loved the plant backdrop. The staff were friendly and even the bathroom had a comfortable bench to sit on! We will be coming back again.

I discovered this lovely coffee shop by accident as I was staying at a nearby bed and breakfast. It’s one of best experience to enjoy a warm cappuccino on a cold early morning. Not crowded at 6:30am. Every time we drive through SLO we have to stop into Scout. Great coffee, most of their coffee is on the lighter roast side. So dont be disappointed of it doesnt taste like the big chains dark/acidic roasts. They have tasty baked goods as well. The chocolate chip cookie is out of this world. The people that work there are super friendly. They have a small seating area outside. I recommend a cappuccino, cookie, and a stroll through lovely downtown SLO.

Love this place! What a super pleasant surprise. Ended up here because it was the only coffee shop without a line on a busy Saturday. The cashier informed me their almond milk is made in house, as are their syrups. I tried a wilderness latte and a whiskey latte. WOW!!! I mean, wow. That is some of the best coffee I have ever had. The whiskey is currently #1 on my favorites list. One thing- the barista made one of our coffees with dairy milk when we had requested almond, but she was kind enough to fix the issue right away. This isn’t a review so much as my personal experience drinking a cup of coffee at Scout Coffee. I love coffee and will drink anything from instant coffee to micro-roasted, handcrafted pour over.I ordered a cold-brew. It was incredibly sour (for my taste). I added cream and simple syrup; it did not improve enough to make me want to drink. I tossed it out half finished.I had just paid $5.50 for that small/medium coffee. This is the most that I have ever paid for a cold-brew. I live in an expensive area and buy artisan coffee from all kinds of coffee shops. I didn’t see why the price, especially for cold-brew, would be so high in a relatively inexpensive area.Curious, I researched the coffee shop. My “aha moment” was when I learned that the owners are previously from Verve Coffee in Santa Cruz. This made perfect sense as the last cup of coffee that I didn’t finish was from the Verve shop on 41st Ave in Santa Cruz. This was years ago, so it obvious that my tastes don’t match the style of coffee that they produce. Obviously, other people enjoy the coffee, so this information is just to provide a different perspective than the previous “reviewers.”On the upside, the shop is comfortable, well-laid out, and looks great. The service was good - friendly, helpful and unpretentious. If you like coffee and coffee shops, go in and check it out. But if you don’t like it, you will know that you are not alone!

Located in Downtown SLO, it has a charm of a french storefront store with unique decor and absolutely amazing baked goods.I ordered a cappuccino with an almond/berry croissant. I loved the flavor of their coffee - not too strong, not too weak, a bit sweet, something you would get from Peru. The croissant was the best pastry I have had in a long long time. Crunchy on the outside with lots of roasted sliced almonds, the croissant was filled with berry jam - so delicious, it blows your mind away! I think if I lived in SLO, I would become an addict eating these croissants.Service was prompt and very pleasant. The shop was clean (including the bathroom), bright and airy. There is some seating outside and metered parking for a few cars on the street. Their owners have built an exceptional staple of SLO in just over 5 years of business after developing a fully sustainable concept of proprietorship from working in one of California’s premier roasting companies. Mostly awesome coffee with some of the most creative and tasty tea creations around.Ive had the espresso and pour over coffee here in past visits and most recently tried the cold brew. The espresso is tasty with a thick crema and complex flavor that works well solo and in espresso based drinks. Pour overs have similarly been well roasted, waking up enough of the flavor of the coffee without roasting the beans to a char as is typical with many mainstream coffee shops. I was a bit disappointed in their cold brew as it was essentially the same as charbucks coffee with the signature char flavor to the point that I ran to the add ons counter for some dairy and sugar to smooth it out.My wife always loves the wide variety of fun tea based drinks that allow her to get her honey / agave / soy / almond / foo-foo-flavor drinks and constantly raves about them.In summary, Ill come here for their espresso and pour over based caffeination creations knowing that my wife will also love what she gets. Makes me really sad to visit a local coffee shop that made me think I shouldve gone to Starbucks. Even on a busy night I could not believe the 20 minites it took to get two drinks. Im glad to see the staff having a good time while working, bit even better would have been for the drinks to have been hot and what I ordered.

Scout Coffee is a great coffee shop in downtown San Luis Obispo. It has a really nice decor, its clean and the staff is very friendly.

Scout Coffee is a bright, the staff are knowledgeable, the selection/variety is satisfying and most importantly, the coffee is great. Id recommend stopping here for a coffee and then walking around the neighborhood.

Cool little coffee cafe with crafty goods in store. Bought some bulk beans and they gladly grinded up. Clean and seating in front too.

I am very fond of Scout. Everyone that works there dresses for the occasion. They sell Honey Co. Roasters coffee and it is excellent. It looks like a museum exhibit. Go there.

Excellent atmosphere, quaint and cozy, could spend the whole day here. Only better spot is the Scout on Foothill. Great coffee too.

Absolutely love this place! Relaxed atmosphere, great drinks and baked goods, pretty decor, and good music. I highly recommend their apple pie tea.

Great coffee; excellent atmosphere; no electrical outlets. if you just want cofee this is definitely 5 stars. if you want to use a computer, 2 stars.

Best coffee in the area(and we knew good coffee after living in Europe for 8 years) homemade vegan milks and syrups...Scones, pastries, and coffee rolls surpass other bakeries in the area.

Staff was very friendly. Coffee was just so so. Better then Starbucks but below dutch brothers. They do make their own almond milk daily.
