Fairly priced, always friendly, and professional! Took my vehicle here for a smog and it failed but they provided me with the info I needed to get it passed. They offer a discount on retests so ended up being very reasonable. Also Bob was so nice to our dogs. Thanks!

I needed a smog check for my DMV registration. While I was at the post office, I discovered that I couldnt complete my car registration without getting a smog check. So, I drove around and saw a big sign that read SMOG CHECK - CERTIFIED. Intrigued, I decided to give Santa Monica Motors-Smog a try. And let me tell you, they delivered!From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Saul, who was incredibly lovely. He checked me in right away with a huge smile on his face. 😁 It was so refreshing to see people smiling. But what truly impressed me was the speed and efficiency of their service. They completed the smog check in just 12 minutes! Saul informed me that it would be electronically reported to the DMV. Their customer service was exceptional, and Im truly grateful for their dedication. Highly recommended!

I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Santa Monica Motors-Smog! I came in with a lot of question and they were all answered with kindness from their wonderful staff. My smog check was quick and easy. They were also able to assist me with my car registration which was a process I was dreading but they couldn’t have made it easier. I shouldve posted awhile back as it was a few months ago I was there. So please let my action of posting now/ remembering, reflect how well deserved feedback is. So I take my older 4-Runner in. Everyone extremely genuinely friendly. The real kind of friendly. The entire staff do business and service the way it should be done. And if the owners open up another spot(theyd be silly not to), offer Ray a piece because Im thinking hes a large reason why theyre so good(In addition to many other moving parts of course). I am so lucky to have found Santa Monica Motors (SMM)! I’ve been going there for at least a couple of years and every time they’ve always provided exceptional customer service. I have an older car and this time when I brought my car to them it was sounding TERRIBLE!! My car was so bad that I thought I was going to have to buy another car, which I cannot afford. But SMM fixed everything in one day and now it’s running like new! I’m just so relieved and grateful. The costs were very reasonable and affordable. Everything was transparent and they explained everything that needed to be done and did not do anything to my car without my permission. They are so professional. They get 10 out 10 stars from me!!

50 stars! Today was my 1st appt with SM Motors. I was overdue for service on my 2013 Prius and also wanted a comprehensive maintenance inspection done. The team (front desk and technicians) were all friendly, extremely professional and efficient. The inspection results with guidelines and servicing recommendations were very informative and clear.The final cost was so much lower than I expected after years of getting serviced at the dealership. I highly recommend SM Motors.

I didn’t pass my smog test on the first, nor second, nor third… try. In fact it was on my 6th try that I finally passed. The team was as patient as I had to be and I really appreciate the tips and support they gave. They didn’t charge me for all the times I went to check (except the first and last) so this place is very fair and don’t take advantage. Totally recommend

This place is run by charlatans 😡 dont be fooled by their positive, polite demeanor. I suspect google maps users are incorreclty reviewing this place instead of the smog check place nextdoor.Santa Monica Motors charges 50% more than mechanics in the area for the same work, claiming its because they have skilled mechanics that know what theyre doing. Ironically enough, these same mechanics - fixed a tire leak for me twice, resulting in having to put on a spare twice that week until I took it to another place. They also charged $200 for an oil change, and forgot to put the clippings on.My favourite part is how they wanted to urgently replace my valve cover gasket for $1200 due to a severe leak. When I took it for a second opinion they quoted me $800 and said there was no leak, just a minor seap at best and nothing needed to be done. (Shout out to Lexology in Hermosa for being awesome!)If youre a smart consumer and do your homework youll. Maybe they like to defraud women. I dont normally write reviews, in this case Im making an exception as I believe everyone deserves a warning about this place. Especially my fellow sisters 💪💁‍♀️P.S. they also wanted to charge me $200 to replace the cabin filter. This cost me $20 on Amazon (because I splurged and got the premium version) and all of 3 min to complete on my own.

Love this place. Started going here in 2018 for a Smog check when I lived nearby. Have come back ever since for repairs and the team at Santa Monica Motors have been the most reliable and honorable mechanics I have ever worked with. I moved out to the Valley and still make the drive to work with them because of everything they have done for me. One of the coolest parts is that they send you a link to a webpage where they custom make a breakdown of all of your cars issues with photos and suggested repairs so you feel like youre making an informed decision. I cannot recommend these folks enough!

Thanks to procrastination and the Pacific Smog Check being closer to my home, but it was already closed at 4:00 (one star for them), I ended up at Santa Monica Motors.Bob greeted me as if I were his old friend or close relative. Unfortunately, I believe this place is scamming people. I was shocked, because I’ve been here before for a smog check (and had a good experience) and the positive reviews highly recommend this place.First, it was almost $200 for an oil change. That price is extremely gouged compared to other places in the area. Second, during my oil change they inspected my car and told me I needed to spend $1000 on new brake pads and new rotors. I was hesitant because I asked if the rotors were warped and the mechanic could not give me a straight answer. I went to another place to get a second opinion. I also went to the dealership to get an opinion. Both the Toyota dealership and the other auto shop told me that my rotors were completely fine and did not need to be replaced.Overall, the people (staff and mechanics) are all extremely kind and positive, but they definitely price gouge you and tell you things are wrong with your car when they aren’t to get more $$.

Ive taken my car to Santa Monica Motors for a few years now. Ive found them to be very helpful, forthright, and friendly. This last time, when I told the manager I needed to have my car before 3:30, he made sure it was available at 2:30; when he saw me waiting for a while in the waiting room (which is very comfortable), he had a driver take me home. The car came out just great and they even cleaned it without my asking. I felt really appreciative and satisfied with the service. They were also honest and straightforward about pricing.

They left their code reader plugged into my dash and demanded my pregnant wife return it in exchange for the air intake they forgot to reinstall. But from the moment I arrived to when I left, there was such charm and warm hospitality. The guys who took my car were like uncles and Bob at the counter was super welcoming in a humble sense.
