So easy! And the Customer Service has been stellar! Doing it online has always been easy to do, but I was frozen out of my account and called for assistance. I have used Sanborns many times, have always been fine with their service and rates. This time, however, I could not log on, so I called to get insurance, was charged (but it didnt show in my bank records for a while), and never got email or text confirmation of my insurance. I tried many times to contact them (unfortunately it was Thanksgiving Day) and ended up going across the border without proof of insurance. I chanced it because I didnt want to pay twice, but it was stressful and time consuming.

This is the 3rd year, I (an elderly Canadian) have used Sanborn to provide auto coverage for my NWrn Mexico winter vacations which have ranged from 6 weeks to 4.5 months. I have found their online booking of insurance easy to arrange, and reasonably priced. Fortunately, I have never had an accident in Mexico (at least to date), so cannot comment on that aspect of Sanborns service. In any case, thank you.

I have been using Sanborns in San Ysidro for my TPL insurance for Mexican rental cars for years. For the last several years, I have had to make some short road trips to Tijuana with my own personal vehicles and I have used Sanborns to protect me and my vehicles. It is super easy to get policies issued with my on line account and when I need help, customer service, Manny is always available, super courteous, and efficient. Once again Sanborns is the clear choice for Mexican Insurance. (Update) Yesterday I was in Tijuana getting work done on my vehicle and I was delayed. Top notch in customer service too! The first year he went above and beyond what we expected when we arrived at our destination and found that the car rental agency did not want the insurance in the nationally-known company name, but in the local owners name. Prior customer. Purchased in person before. Great experience. Purchasing insurance during 4th July weekend was a mess. Their office was closed. No phone customer service. Will never purchase online again. The auto-fill portion of the website kept reverting to old car rental info. When I hit purchase, some info was correct and some was not. ZERO customer service available that day. Was unable to correct. Ended up paying for two days instead of the one that was needed. The system reverted to the prior purchase of two days. I did a fair bit of research on which Insurance agents would be the best for obtaining Mexican automobile insurance. My research led me to choose Sanborns. I went to book the insurance on line and was advised by a popup on the site that I should contact a local agent for all of the alternatives for my insurance. I was looking for insurance for a two month period. I contacted the San Diego agency and spoke with Emanuel Garcia. Emanuel was very helpful and explained all of the options I had open to me. He assisted me in selecting the optimum for my circumstances and dealt directly with Sanborns while I was on the phone with him. I had my policy in place by the end of our conversation and received all documents directly from Sanborns the same day. I stopped by Sanborns Mexican Insurance so Id be covered in north Baja.A lot of people dont know this, but although your U.S.-based car insurance most likely covers you and your vehicle if something happens while youre in Mexico - the Mexican police DO NOT accept this as proof of financial responsibility. So, you may think youre covered, but end up in a Mexican jail until you bail yourself out with fines.A policy from Sanborns provides proof of financial responsibility.My Mom used to say, Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I guess this applies here.Emanuel is very friendly and offers excellent, solid coverage - whether it be for the day, a couple of days or an annual policy (which is the way to go if you visit Mexico frequently).Very highly recommended!

Sanborns is currently one of the few places in the United States to get a Mexican car rental policy issued for a Mexican car rental in Mexico, with Mexican plates. Mexican law requires that you have 3rd party liability insurance, while actively driving in Mexico. Sanborns offers the 3rd party liability coverage, please note, it is NOT comprehensive coverage! If you have the right credit card, that offers the worldwide car rental insurance, that covers the vehicle itself, check with your credit card company for the benefits and to get a printout declaring the worldwide coverage. Sanborns is accessible via phone and email, and are flexible to work with. Be advised, when using their policies, the Mexican car rental companies give you hoops to jump through to use the Sanborns policy, as they require the vehicle information on the Sanborns policy ON THE DAY YOU SHOW UP TO PICK THE RENTAL VEHICLE UP. So, this requires you to be in touch with the Mexican car rental company BEFORE you pick up your vehicle, to get this information onto the policy.
