2024-06-21 16:22:13Number one bring all your documents. Number two get there about 15 minutes before it opens and youll be fine. Number three best option is to make an appointment. Very efficient very nice people, and take all your documents out of your envelopes or wallet before you get to the window. They just start moving a lot of people through and you are one of many. Even if you dont think youll need it, bring all your documents.

2024-05-21 20:43:55Great DMV experience. I went 10min before closing not knowing if I was going to be turned down. They let me get in there and handle business. It wasnt too long of a wait (under30min) and everything went smooth. Everyone was helpful, but you can see the smug look in some workers but thats a given in any public building. I probably would too if I worked with all those people day in day out..😄 Overall DMV has greatly improved their service over the years. Thats awesome.

2024-06-23 03:18:35Nobody relishes a DMV visit. It takes hours, and you often leave disappointed due to bureaucratic glitches, more forms needed etc. That said, the staff here are friendly and very knowledgeable. I was particularly impressed by an employee going through the waiting line asking folks what they were there for and offering helpful guidance. Very well organized operation.

2024-05-14 18:25:59Kind of positively surprised. Had to make an unexpected visit to the DMV and all online appointments were booked for over a week. So, went without an appointment and seemed to get lucky. The parking lot was half empty when I arrived at 8.15.Went inside, got my case number and pretty much had the same wait time that I had last time, but had an appointment back then. Its never fun at the DMV and of course they wanted more money to issue my title for a vehicle I had bought 8 weeks ago.

2024-05-26 14:48:47Nancy & Brandi are amazing, but everyone else is grumpy, incompetent or too stern. We had an appointment for 8am (when they open) and got there a few minutes early. There were two lines, so I asked someone in the shorter line in front of the door if that was for appointments. The two gentlemen at the end said they didnt have appointments and they saw other folks go in a few minutes earlier, so we asked the security guards just inside the one open door. They rudely told us to wait outside and they werent open. Uh, then why is the door open and why did some people already go in? A minute later, they opened the second door and said nothing. At 8am, they let in the other line (non-appointments) but said nothing about appointments. We went in after that line was done. Odd. One lady was calling drive test so we went in that direction, which was near the appointment line anyway. There was one teen and his dad in front of us, so we waited. A few minutes later, the gentleman at the front desk called us over since we had an appointment. He asked us what we were there (drivers license test), took my sons name, found his appointment, then proceeded to tell us that we needed two forms with addresses. I was so confused, as wed already done that 6 months prior. He said something unclear about the no longer doing express (maybe) appointments and that our number was wrong. I had no clue what number he was talking about (its all their internal numbers for organizing services). He called someone, gave us different number and sent us off. Our number was called right away and the lady at Window 16 (I think) asked us why we were there (drivers license test), took my sons name, found his appointment, told us his permit didnt expire until November, asked us why we were there again (drivers license test), then told us we were supposed to be at the Behind-The-Wheel-Test Window 29. It seems that since we didnt say Behind-The-Wheel-Test, they didnt know what we were talking about. Very odd. Nancy was actually at Window 28 (which you can see from Window 16, by the way) and she helped us efficiently and with a smile. She was friendly and clearly knowledgeable, making us both feel more relaxed. No problems at all. The only thing that was also odd is that we were the fourth car in line even with an 8am appointment. There was only one woman doing Behind-The-Wheel-Tests (she came out at like 8:30). She was very stern, all business moving up the cars in the inspection line and in our line, but she was not mean. The first two teens were gone for about 20min each and both failed. It was about 9:20 when she took the third teen and we moved up to the front of the line. At 9:30, Brandi approached the window and greeted us nicely and said shed be taking my son for his test. She made us feel at ease and was professional, but also kind. They were gone for about 15 minutes and in the meantime the third teen returned and had also failed. Brandi and my son returned and were in the parked car for several minutes, but he got out with a smile. He only missed one. Brandi even made a written comment on how he safely watched pedestrians (when someone jay-walked in front of them) and told him that whoever taught him to drive (mostly me!) should teach more people how to drive. Im certain he would have passed even with the stern woman (as hes a very safe and aware driver) but Brandi made it a nice experience for him. We went back to Nancy and she gave him his paper license with a Congratulations! and we were on our way. They need more folks like Nancy and Brandi at the San Marcos DMV!

2023-06-18 01:18:16I went online and got my place in line ( identification cards and drivers licenses need to be done in person) my place in lined started before I even got in to my truck and drove there. When I got there within 5 minutes I was at service window #17. al They were so accommodating it was amazing. Good flow Good Vibes always look ahead online about getting your place in line, thats the real deal and how to get in and out.

2024-04-02 22:11:37I had an appointment and went right up to desk to be assigned a number. It took about 10-15 minutes before being called up, but agent was very helpful and I was sent to the camera line, which went by fast. My last stop to get a temp permit issued off what I already had completed took the longest - one agent helping both test takers and people waiting for stamped permit - understaffed, and other agent was doing nothing.

2024-06-26 23:41:16The biggest waste of time at a DMV I have ever experienced. Rude, grumpy, and uneducated workers who dont know how to use a computer or update an address. Yelling at me for not having correct address, refusing to check their system for their mistakes, and barring me from making a new appointment as it was already 4:15 pm.

2024-05-30 17:26:15Theyre pretty efficient here, even if you dont have an appointment. My only issue today was that the check-in lady was being super rude to some of the elderly people and the non-english speaking people. Very short, very rude, and rushing them along, also turning people away quickly if they didnt have all their documents ready. This is what causes DMV anxiety people!Youre getting paid to do a job. If you dont like your job, find a new one where you dont have to interact with humans.
