2024-04-20 22:43:02This is a place where owners Dan and Jess have manifested loving what you do into something magical. You can create your own special piece from locally sourced lumber or have them create it for you. You can get artsy and learn how to add resin to your project. You can soak up the vibes in the garden or gaze at the mural that adorns the building. Its a place you want to stay awhile and take it all in.Hands down this is one of the coolest places in San Diego and Chula Vista is fortunate to have them.

2023-08-08 19:34:13This is a gem. Local timbers, knowledgeable staff, environmentally conscious business practices. Theyve made several benches and tables for our home. Compared to what you find at traditional stores, it blows my mind that each piece San Diego Urban Timber provides is literally a one-of-a-kind. Cant say enough positive things to encourage others to stop in, look around and just ask.

2022-04-28 06:56:08This place is so cool! Southbay, SD needs a place like this. No more going all the way to Santee or Spring Valley for wood. Not only do they have an outstanding collection of wood pieces for furniture, but they also had a good collection of suitable fire wood! I love having bonfires in my backyard and the wood was fantastic. The prices were very reasonable too and the staff was super friendly (slow down in the yard for the friendly pooch that roams around, hes very friendly and seems to be sort of a greeter). I will definitely come back!

2022-10-25 07:26:59I commissioned Urban Timber to create a resin table for our dining room. This table was particularly special because it incorporated a resin mold of my mothers hand and it was meant to be a family piece we could pass down. My mother has since passed. We spent approximately 13k on this table.During the entire process I wanted to be involved and gave feedback on how I wanted the table to look, some of the feedback was incorporated and other feedback was completely ignored. There were three different occasions when we extended the deadline for the table because Urban Timber had other projects that were consuming their time and because I had the perception they would put more effort into this table if I gave them more time, I was happy to oblige.I was wrong. They did not put more effort into the table. Instead, each pushed back deadline simply gave them more opportunities to ignore our table and work on other projects. When it was finally time to finish the table, they simply pulled an all nighter and completed it last minute -- getting delivered to our home the day of a huge Christmas party. If thats all that went wrong, I would have been happy. However, in their rushing to finish in the last minute, they put the table through a device that shaved the top 2 inches off the table. They reported they werent responsible for this because they took it to a third party to have the trimmings on the table completed and the settings were set wrong. In either case, that mistake was made our problem because a great deal of the detail I was excited by was wiped out. The detail underneath the resin looked horrible and flat. Urban Timber responded by telling me if I dont want the table they could use it as a conference table but they were not willing to fix or compensate me for this significant screw up.I had plans to do other wood crafting projects and I wanted to go through them originally but I will never touch this company again. We spent 13k dollars on a table that was done by people who did not care and who executed our plans with profound mediocrity. I would never recommend Urban Timber for anything and I would advise people stay away if youre looking for a quality product.EDIT: As you can see in the reply Urban Timber is under the impression that (a) there was only 1/2 sliced off the top and (b) that they reached out offered solutions both things are verifiable false. The solutions offered were refuse the table and be out the money we had put down for the project or accept the screwed up table. Thats it. Literally nothing else. These are hardly solutions. It is not surprising that the owners are playing ignorant about my dissatisfaction, as if, they are JUST NOW finding out I was not happy. They knew I was not happy IMMEDIATELY. That is exactly why I was told I could refuse the table and that theyd use it as a conference table. As if I would refuse the table after several months of planning and money invested. They took advantage of my being in a difficult position and offered NOTHING to actually address the screw up. That is who these people are.The narrative that they are just now finding out I am not pleased is disgusting. Jess even wrote me an email about how I should love the table after I expressed my dissatisfaction because the resin was poured during a new moon. These people dont give a damn and are solely concerned with deflecting responsibility and will not have your best interest at heart. If youre spending a large sum of money here please tread cautiously and expect to do an incredible amount of babysitting.
