I did two dives with Scuba Pros during a short stay in San Diego, and Cam was my dive master. Conditions were tough, but he made it great, informative, and safe. Ill definitely use them when I go back.

I actually did a lot of research before going on this dive and I was really happy with the the first and second dive. We saw what felt like hundreds of horned sharks and a guitar fish. We were also able to swim through some kelp which I was extremely happy with, since Cam mentioned that we shouldn’t expect to see any given the recent storms. Cam went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed myself and make sure everyone was safe.Would 100% go again!

The instructors were very professional. They are knowledgeable in scuba and take safety seriously. I felt very comfortable going scuba diving with them and I will do it again. The snorkeling was also a first for me and I loved that I was able to go through caves it was beautiful! Thank you scuba team !

Cam was a great guide for my first ocean dive with my friend. All the provided gear was in good condition, dive plan was clearly communicated and any questions we had about the area and what we would be seeing were answered. We both had a great time seeing the kelp forests, sea lions, lobsters, and caves during our two tank dive!

I give San Diego Scuba Pros 5 stars. I had booked several dives, however due to weather condition, some of the dives got cancelled which I was informed of well beforehand.So in my mind when I booked the scuba tour, I thought it was boat diving - it turns out it is shore diving ! 🤯 I was not experienced with shore diving, so initially I was disappointed. But I must say, Lando and Alexandra were great, they created a fun and safe environment and were very helpful in making my shore dives great and educational, that’s why I give this place 5 stars! The dives were awesome and we saw a lot different sea life. So I would recommend

The waves were crashing in and we were unable to do the original location at “the cove” we were given many accommodating options and decided to go to a different location as we were only in San Diego for the two days. Communication was great and logistics were well arranged. I enjoyed my first dive after recently receiving my scuba certification in Costa Rica. I have really enjoyed the people involved and Cam (our guide) specifically was very easy to work with and helpful. I respected the way he handled the bad weather with us and he had a lot to offer.

I took a private class on spring 2024 because I suddenly got diving trip plan so I emailed Scuba Pros and they responded less than 12 hours. Their communication rate was just top notch. They managed class schedule based on my demand and set me up with the instructor, Lando who was cool and great instructor. Even this was my very 1st time scuba diving experience he explained everything very clearly which made me understood efficiently and quickly. I recommend Lando 100% if you want open water certification. Also, Scuba Pros provided the equipment very clean and neat condition even the wetsuit that I sued was a brand new. Not only that, BCD, regulator and everything was very good condition. Thanks again, Scuba Pros team and Lando for your prompt and good service!

A spectacular dive with a great tour guide. This was my first dive in California and had only done dives in the tropics prior. expecting cold and low visibilty experience, I was pleasantly suprised. Wetsuits, with booties, gloves, and hood, were provided and in great condition. The guide gave a great prep talk of what where we would be diving, what we should expect to see, and took us to some incredible sites (caves, canyons, and kelp forests all within 2 dives)! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend.

We went on 2 dives with Cam while on vacation and it was so wonderful!! He took us through some caves, we saw lots of sea lions and he even let us hold a lobster and a horned shark!! Cam was super funny and knew a lot about the area/ scuba diving in general so we felt very comfortable diving around all the wildlife etc with him. So cool and was a 10/10 experience. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to go diving here in La Jolla.

I had the pleasure of diving with Cam from The Scuba Pros and a small group of guests. Cam was compassionate, patient and diligent in making sure his group was ok at all times.I plan to return to dive with this company in the near future, a testament to my trust in The Scuba Pros.Only downside was my SPG did not include a dive computer, so I never knew my depth or how long I had been underwater. My one recommendation would be for the company to update their gear for those of who cannot afford dive computers.Otherwise, highly recommended!

A friend and I had a Discover Dive booked, but we got sick the night before so we had to cancel just a few hours before the dive. Everyone was very understanding and we got almost a full refund (minus some fees that were already paid for, like packing the gear etc.), despite cancelling with just a few hours notice. People were also super responsive and professional, replied to our emails promptly and arranged the refund just a couple of days after cancelling.

My wife and I just got our open water cerification and we had a great experience! We did private lessons with Lando who is an excellent instructor. We had no diving experience and both felt anxious at different points but Lando walked us through it all and put us at ease. He really is a pro and he made sure we had fun while completing our certification. We saw dolphins, sea lions and even got to hold lobsters during our dives. Had a great time celebrating my birthday with a couple friends doing the intro to scuba diving. I was impressed by their level of professionalism in all things and their accommodation of our needs. The dives both went very well, equipment was provided and was all in very good condition. They were timely and most of all we had so much fun,. The visibility was not great and they were flexible and let us dive the following day instead and even refunded half my sons dive when he decided not to take the 2nd dive. I did my three day PADI cert with Lando and he was absolutely phenomenal. I paid the extra $ for the semi-private class and it was truly the best decision. It was just me and a buddy for all 3 days which allowed for more 1:1 time and help. The first day (pool day) felt a bit rushed but there is simply SO much to cover so that is understandable. You MUST read the book and do the coursework as Lando really likes to apply the material to a real-life situation to help you understand, not just throw definitions around. The second day was the open water and it was tough but Lando was very comforting and reassuring. I ended up getting seasick at the beginning of our swim back but Lando and my buddy were very patient and understanding. I was so tired by the third day I almost called it quits but I’m so glad I didn’t. Lando made the 60ft dive feel like nothing! We didn’t see much but that is sometimes just luck. I took this course two weeks before my trip to Hawaii and I feel very well equipped for my first official dive! They also offer “tag along” dives after your course if you want to feel more confident. Overall, I would recommend them to everyone. They were the best priced in the area, offer a WHOLE package so you don’t have to bring anything, and made it fun, informative and safe.

Overall excellent diving experience. Clear instructions on their website, and when you arrive at La Jolla they’re prompt setting up and getting everyone prepared for the dive.Of course what you see underwater is completely out of everyone’s hands, but I had a great experience and saw everything that I expected to (and more). Cam was a fun and supportive guide!My group was lucky that the water was calm, and on a not as calm day you’d need to keep alert and focus on what you’ve been taught. It’s definitely good to have some experience with colder water.

I had a very positive experience getting my PADI Open Water Certification with San Diego Scuba Pros. I immediately felt a sense of trust with my instructor Lando, which was important when first learning to dive. His instruction was a good blend of technical and real world knowledge and gave practical direction. The weather and dive conditions while I did my course were less than ideal and though it would have been cool to see more on my dives, I appreciated that they put my safely first and stuck to locations that did not put me in danger. I completed a 2-tank dive with Scuba Pros at La Jolla Cove and had a fantastic time!The dive tour included gear rental which made it quite easy to do the dive during a weekend trip without having to hang my own gear up in the hotel room. When I arrived early in the morning, my gear for the day was well organized and ready for set-up. Lando was very friendly and we felt comfortable and confident as this was my daughters first time snorkeling. Communication was great and easy to meet-up. We loved the seals, Gariboldi and sea caves. Gear fitted well (may have been better to have gloves and possibly a hoodie but otherwise we were really warm. It would be great to learn more about the fish species. I cant recommend this shop enough! I live in Colorado but completed my PADI open water rec diver certification here. I sent probably no less than 50 emails in preparation for the trip, and was always met with a prompt and friendly response and an answer to all of my many questions. Lando was my instructor and he is incredible, super thorough, patient, and flexible, very communicative and helpful! If you live in the area, they will take you on incredible local tours. And if youre looking for a place to finish your certification or move to more advanced levels, this is the place to do it.

They were able to fit me in pretty last minute, were quick to respond, had great gear and were very attentive while getting geared up and during the dive. Both Lando and Cam asked what I was hoping to experience for the dives and went out of their way to make it happen. The sea lions and kelp are a unique, amazing sight to see! Cam’s wife was also so helpful and wonderful! I highly recommend working with Lando on your scuba certification. San Diego Scuba Pros offers the best rate I found for semi-privates, so if you do the coursework to get certified ahead of time, they will work with you to get the pool and open water sessions done in three days.Lando will make you very aware of all the risks you could face scuba diving, and then show you how to avoid them so you can be safe and feel confident under water. Scuba Pros provided all the gear I needed, so you dont have to worry about getting scammed into buying all this gear you may or may not want to travel with in the future.I sent so many emails ahead of time and they answered all my questions. Lando never made me feel rushed when learning and was a huge support when I needed some encouragement to take the plunge (literally). I only had one free day in San Diego while I was there for a work trip and so glad I spent my time diving with Cam! He was extremely knowledgable and thorough. I havent gone diving in a couple years and never in the States but I definitely felt comfortable with him! He does a great job preparing you for any and all emergency situations which (while it felt a little doom and gloom sometimes) helped me feel more comfortable when I shifted from the pool to the ocean. I got my PADI certification via San Diego Scuba Pros in June 2023.SD Scuba Pros were professional, responsive, and flexible. Their transparency on their website was helpful, and if I had any questions, they were a quick call away. They also were responsive via email too, which was much appreciated.Price: I got the group rate (probably the cheapest and most flexible in town from my research), as you can take 3-4 people but work with the instructor to find the best time for your group. It beats other larger locations that have more of a regimented structure. Loved the alternative option for the e-learning section.(saved me $$!)Rentals: No rentals needed! One perk is that if youre out of town, they have scuba gear that you can borrow (all included in the price). Gear includes your wetsuit, goggles, mask, gloves, hoodie, booties, and scuba equipment (tank, BCD, etc.) But, feel free to bring your own if you have it.Instruction: My instructor was Lando, and he was so knowledgeable; I felt prepared and confident in my abilities by the end of it for my next scuba trip. He teaches you more than what is not in the books, and has a lot of experience under his belt. While we weren’t able to dive La Jolla Cove as planned due to large currents (our groups only bummer), I appreciated him knowing our limits and making alternatives to give us a learning experience that was level with our abilities.Additional Dive: While its not explicitly advertised, when you complete your certification through them, they will take you out again for a complimentary dive (1st dive after certification). We had a wonderful experience with San Diego Scuba Pros. I brought my 13 year old son here on vacation and to get open water scuba certifications. They were awesome about accommodating our schedule to get everything done while we were here. We worked with Lando and he was very helpful and courteous. He was great about communicating about scheduling, what we needed to bring, and made sure he had everything ready for us when we got here. They had nice high quality gear and equipment and he was very knowledgeable in his instruction. He went above and beyond the basics and gave us real world examples of all the skills we learned. We scheduled our 2 dives lobster tour with Scuba Pros in February, however, due to covid we had to reschedule to a later date and Scuba Pros did not charge us any fees for last minute rescheduling. Due to scarcity of legal size lobsters since we were at end of the lobster season, Scuba Pros offered us an option to do 1 lobster dive plus 1 dive tour. Cam taught us some tricks on catching the lobsters which helped a lot. Communication was great, most responses were received within the same day. We had such a great dive with Cam and Lando. My husband and I are new to diving and this was not only our first shore dive but also our very first time in the Pacific. They were patient and really took the time to ensure our comfort in every step of the process. The positive experience with San Diego Scuba Pros started from the very beginning when I booked the wrong date on the website. I sent an email requesting the date be changed and received an immediate reply with a confirmation the change has been made, I think it is important to note I sent the email around 7:30am EST :). When we arrived for our dive all the equipment was set up and ready to go for the day! The water conditions were a little rougher than normal but Cam and Lando helped us all get out to the descent point and guided us through some great areas. Lots of fish and sea creatures to see! We could not have been happier that we chose San Diego Scuba Pros for our first dive here in Cali and will only use them when we return for our next dive! Lando and Cam were passionate, professional and knowledgeable instructors who were able to provide a full tour-experience two-dive day at La Jolla Cove. I enjoyed exploring the kelp forests, seeing giant bass, sealions, lobsters, a seal, and even an octopus. They helped carry trash we picked up, supported with gear, entry and exit, and were able to find lots of interesting critters and share insights into the area.Definitely worth doing both dives!Just be aware that generally they only book morning dives, which is perfectly reasonable for work-life balance for their full-time instructors!However, I hope in future they have freelance instructors on hand so there is an option to do afternoon dives, which in my experience is easier to arrange for shore over boat dives.We did lose the guides underwater for short periods twice – understandable due to the visibility and kelp. We were easily reunited (once underwater and once at the surface) but in case of choppier conditions I recommend a SMB in pockets to maximise safety and make reuniting on the surface easier, if necessary, as is the practise in Australia.

My wife and I dive mostly warm water in the Caribbean, and my daughter is a newer diver. We went out with Cam and David for two tanks at La Jolla Cove and really enjoyed the diving. The visibility wasn’t great, but the kelp forest was a nice change of scenery. My son and I have been meaning to get certified for years, and just never got around it; however, we decided to get on it this spring. I did a lot of research and found San Diego Scuba Pros. From the moment I first talked to Lando, I was confident we had made the right choice. He is a great instructor, very patient, flexible and overall a really nice guy! Because of COVID19 the process took a long time, especially after the beaches were closed. My son had a friend staying with us, so there were three of us learning. Ended up doing the pool dives in our own pool, which has pretty good depth. That was a great day, Lando making us feel confident in out first set of dives. After the beaches opened a couple of months later, we set out on our first dives at the Cove, another great day, learning the skills for the first two ocean dives. My son and his friend had to leave to go cross-country; no problem, Lando took me out on my own to finish the ocean dives! And, then took me out with a master diver friend of his to La Jolla Canyon, to make sure I was comfortable at 60 feet - visibility was poor, I got a little claustrophobic, and came up from about 30 feet - they came up with me, super patient and we went down again, after they made me feel more confident, and had a great dive on the edge of the canyon. I just cannot recommend Lando enough, Im almost afraid to give him such a great recommendation, cos hell get too busy!! My 2nd dive was an early morning night dive for lobsters and I literally saw hundreds and grabbed about 25 of the biggest I could grasp with one solid keeper.

We registered to get our Scuba Diver Open Water Certification last year around spring, to do it in the summer thinking that the Covid-19 Pandemic was going to be over by then, well, around the time we were supposed to do it, the local restrictions had become more stricter and San Diego Scuba Pros made every effort to try to accomodate us but I finally decided to postponed our trip to San Diego. Highly recommend SD Scuba Pros - Cam was one of the best dive guides Ive ever had and let me tell you why. It was my second time doing a shore dive (I always do boat dives), and my first time wearing a 7 mm wetsuit with a LOT of weights. It was cold and the conditions were a bit rough, but Cam tried to make sure we got the most out of the dives. He took us through the kelp forests and showed us giant sea bass and a huge lobster. On the second dive, he took us through the caves that the kayak tours go to, and through some cool tunnels! He saw that I was exhausted after the second dive and took some of my weights off of me and carried them up the steps so that I would have an easier time. We are so glad we booked a snorkel tour with Cam. This was a ladies trip, and I wasn’t confident in setting the girls up for success snorkeling in the new place. And for one of our little ladies, it was her first time. Cam was super responsive and made sure we had all the gear we would need the day before. He was timely and had high-quality gear ready for us in the morning of. We had a sit down in the grass to see what animals we might see, and get a plan. This was especially helpful for the girls. We went to La Jolla Cove which was the perfect spot. It was easy entrance and exit out of the water. He was so patient while we got the kids in their gear and made all the adjustments to get them comfortable. We cruised up the coast to a little cave. The girls were in heaven. It really was a magical little spot. We saw a lot of fish, and even a seal. We went over by 30 minutes but he was unfazed. He really was just dedicated to us having an awesome morning. He was so relaxed while also being so reliable. I highly recommend booking a snorkel trip with Cam!

Did two dives with Cam in the morning between 9am - 12 am. Eventhough I only called them a day before my available day to ask if they would take me for a two tank dive the next day, they were completely cooperative to arrange it. Dives through kelp forrest and the cove were super cool. Saw a giant sea bass, couple of small sharks, loads of fish and seals just going right past you in the cove. Cam was really professional and helped me (beginner diver) with some tips and tricks, while also giving some background info on the surroundings.

My husband and I booked couples dives for 2-days with Cam and Lando. I am a slow surface swimmer. Cam made sure he stuck with us while Lando was with the rest of the group and we all dropped together. One of the group members had a mask issue, so we surfaced again, resolved it and went back. It wasnt the best of the days for La Jolla due to the red tide and high surge (compared to Monterey). Nevertheless, we saw a baby Horned Shark, Garibaldis, Cal Sheephead, Sheephead Crab and some wonderful kelp. We decided to do only dive due to the conditions and the brothers were very gracious to give us a refund for our 2nd dive and the other days as well. We look forward to diving with Cam & Lando when the conditions are good.

You couldn’t find a better company than San Diego Scuba Pros. I need to preface my comments by mentioning that I’m accustomed to warm water, Caribbean diving during shore excursions. With that in mind, this dive at the Cove in La Jolla was quite different from what I’m used to. On our particular day there were big swells, poor visibility, and the water was much colder than Caribbean 59 degrees F. I dove with my wife, son, and 11-year old daughter. It was my daughters first dive after certification. And with those conditions, it was pretty rough for her. That said, Lando, Cam, and Liam did a fantastic job with all of us. We were only in town for the dive that day and they went out of their way to make it a fun experience. Despite the poor visibility, we saw a sea lion, horned sharks, lobsters, a ray, kelp beds, and other fish. They even helped us carefully hold a lobster and sharks. They hung out very close to us which helped ease my mind with my kids and the rough conditions. They included all equipment and some photos for us which was a great bonus. Overall, a challenging but fun experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to book with this company again.

My son and I recently finished our advanced open water certification with San Diego Scuba Pros. We had the flexibility of date and time as well as various options beyond required navigation and deep dive. The bring the gear to you, which is another advantage.We finished our five required specialty dives (navigation, peak performance buoyancy, deep, boat, and wreck at HMCS Yukon and Ruby), and received the PADI certification the very next day. That was really fast. We missed out on the planned Night Dive due to rough conditions at La Jolla Shores. However, San Diego Scuba Pros are open to taking us on a night dive at a later date when we are back in town without extra charge, thats super of them.All in all, I would highly recommend San Diego Scuba Pros for PADI certifications or other dive tours in the San Diego area.

He was rude, made us feel extremely unsafe, and actually put us in danger several times. I explained how uncomfortable and scared I was several times and he did not listen. A friend and I booked a last minute dive day, and Scuba Pros was the most affordable and accommodating dive shop we found in La Jolla. Cam was a great dive master and the entire process was very easy, just having to give a gear request the day prior to the dive. Unfortunately, weather ruined the dive plans just as we entered the water and forced us to cancel the dive. They issued us a full refund no hassle. What a brilliant set up and staff, in a nut shelf great guys.Firstly booked to visit pre Covid on vacation from the U.K.from first contact with Lando all info was given promptly and in good detail, any thing I asked was answered pretty much straight away considering time difference.Then the dreaded Covid hit before we flew and travel bans came in, straight away I was contacted and refunded.Recently managed to rebook for now 3 of us as my sons are new to diving. Lando is an amazing scuba instructor, he is very knowledgeable and teaches in a very understanding manner.I learnt more with him doing the open water then I did completing the the open water training and skills in England.He teaches in a way that is common sense which the training does not necessarily teach you. Very personal and attentive to the needs of my family. My son celebrated his 8th birthday with a discover scuba experience, he brought a friend and my 14 year old came as well. A dive master, Zen, worked exclusively with older son and Lando worked with the smaller boys. He had extremely patient and informative. He kept a good flow of communication with boys and me, the dad. Lando is extremely well trained as a Master Instructor, and provided basic and understandable teaching to the kids. This was my first dive after OWD certification, and it was the PERFECT dive. Cam, our guide, exceeded expectations. He walked us over to an overlook to view the dive site and to orient us to the course, goals, topography, and other specifics of the dive. One of the divers decided for personal reasons 15 minutes into the dive that he didn’t want to continue, and Cam calmly directed the tour to make the diver’s safe exit out of the water our priority. The high point of the dive ironically was when my BCD inflation tube began to leak air rapidly. Cam and I hovered at a depth of around 20 ft while he resolved the issue, which took about 2-3 minutes (but seemed like 20), and to our delight, an adolescent sea lion found our activity to be quite a curiosity, as it “danced” around us, swimming loops above, below and around us while we worked on the leak. Despite the tour being cut short because of the air loss, Cam and the La Jolla Cove dive (and the sea lion) represented to me all of the best reasons of why I got into this sport.

Our instructor, Lando, made the all rescue exercises and scenarios as realistic as possible, demonstrating how some of the techniques described in the PADI material worked better than others. I was in town for work from the east coast and decided to get in a few dives before I left as I had never dove in the Pacific before. I reached out to Lando while researching the least expensive pricing to get my AOW through PADI. He not only has now certified me in my AOW, and rescue diver, but we have become good friends and did some pretty serious lobster diving this season. He is currently training me to become a Divemaster. Lando is a patient. highly experienced, and extremely knowledgeable instructor.
