Best experience ever! Oscar and family took great care of us. We had a tour guide escort through the beautiful trails and spots. The rentals came with riding gear helmet, gloves and googles. HIGHLY recommend booking with them!

We had a great experience here! Oscar and his family were great and hard working too! We came Thanksgiving weekend so it was really busy. We came in on Friday but there was nothing available. So we booked for Saturday. We booked 2 four wheelers and a dirt bike. Everything ran well. The trails were awesome! The trails were kind of rough but very fun! Some of the trails were definitely for higher skilled riders. They do take a $500 deposit for each toy. It takes 3-5 business days for the deposit to go back into your account. We had a great time!! I would highly recommend this place! :)

My partner and I stopped here on our bicycle tour to see if they could fix one of our pedals. Ended up hanging out for quite awhile! These people are so kind and generous and certainly seem to know a lot about Motorsport stuff. A true gem of the desert.

We rented 5 ATVs from SD Motorsport and had a great time.We tried to rent larger, and more expensive ATVs, but the owner talked us out of it - he said wed be fine on the cheaper ones.I said I wanted to rent for the day, they said that half a day would probably be enough. Half a day would have been enough for most of us. Ive rarely known a company that would try to persuade you to pay them less, but they did.We told them it was our first time, and they sent us out with a guide, to make sure we were OK, and knew some places to go. The guide stayed with us until we were comfortable (and we decided when that was and there was no charge for this (but we tipped them as well as we could.)Highly recommended, Ill be going back.

The owners are down to earth and no nonsense. They were super busy when we visited (New Years weekend) and had a lot of anxious people ready to get toys! They handled it well, and everyone left with bikes/ATVs. I even overheard the owner offer his personal 4-wheeler to a group, when they’d run out of rental units. Because I’m small, only the 150 dirt bike would fit me, and they rearranged some things to make sure I got one. It does take a little longer than expected to get through the checkout, safety brief, and equipment brief. But again, we were there on a holiday weekend. The equipment worked great. The bike ran well and started on the first or second kick every time. Checkout was super quick, when we returned it. They let us know that the deposit could take 5 to 15 days to be taken off the pending charges on my account. Pretty typical timeframe. I would rent from them again. Thanks, guys!

Great time in Ocotillo. Took my 11 yr old daughter there for her 1st ride. The owner was very helpful in showing her how to shift and steer. Also he gave us a map and pointed out some great trails for beginners. We are definitely going back for another adventure!

I rented a dirt bike and had a great time! It was my first time riding a motorbike and Oscar put me at ease, answered all my questions patiently, be them about operating the bike, the area, or the rental itself. The process was very smooth, and I was given the flexibility to rent for 1, 2 or 4 hours and pay afterwards. They even offered a complimentary water bottle. I cant recommend them enough! Thank you!

Oscar is the G.O.A.T. Miles of trails with markers everywhere. And he even gave me a map. Staff is amazing. Took the time to give me safety tips. Price depends on what you wanna ride. I paid $116 for the ATV, helmet included. You have cell connection was getting 5G full bars. (I got Tmobile) Definitely will come back. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Awesome experience! We rented a total of 13 ATV’s and 3 dirt bikes. Oscar was great to deal with and is a really down to earth family man. Great prices, great equipment, and he provided us with all the safety gear we needed for the whole group. Oscar covered all the basics from novice to experienced riders. Our group had ages from 11-64. We had the luxury of Oscar’s son Moses who led our group to the must see parts of the desert. During our outing two members of our party had a collision which required immediate medical attention (helicopter ride). Moses calm demeanor and experience was crucial in the positive outcome. I wish I could give him and his family 10 stars. We will definitely be returning and will definitely make sure Moses comes with us. Do your research, Oscar is the only way to go.

This past weekend we rented 3 Quads from this place and everything was great! We had issue with one of the quads as oil was leaking but when I called them they sent someone right over and traded quads with us with out any problem. Check in was fast, he gave us some great tips and info and returning the quads was no issue. I do recommend you take video of the toys you rent so there isnt any surprises when you return them in case of damage and all that. But we will for sure be renting from them every time we go. They do get pretty busy so I highly recommend you to rent your toys in advanced as we have gone before day off and he is all out.. So this time around we called and reserved our ATVS with 2 weeks in advance.

I had the best time with my fiancé! We were assigned ATVs that fit us well, got a safety brief, and were explained how to operate the vehicles. We also got a brief of the map and where we could take the ATVs. Oscar was super pleasant and explained all of the paperwork and charges/liabilities. I felt very comfortable with the equipment and PPE. This family run business is awesome, and I highly recommend it. I believe it’s one of the only (if not the only) places to rent either a dirt bike OR ATV that’s right next to the riding location. It’s an easy day trip from downtown or north county San Diego. We went for four hours and that was plenty of time. The bikes are manual, but Oscar gave a great explanation on how to operate, and I didn’t have a problem at all. We were also provided a bottle of water and there is cell service!

Last weekend, the familys RV broke down on the 78 and a tow truck had trouble finding our location so we were able to coast it to San Diego Motorsport Rentals just in time for our roadside service to say we were not covered for RVs. That is when Brian approached us and offered to let us park it overnight and that it would be safe. He was so kind. We returned from Riverside the next day, fixed the part and headed home. Although we didnt use their services, I can guarantee Brian and the staff will take good care of you like they did for my family and me.

The family that runs this location are good down to earth people. They run a business in the middle of no where. Be prepared to have a blast and ride on well maintained equipment. We are from the Midwest and wanted to go riding in the desert. These guys had positive and negative reviews, but if you read between the lines, you can see the negative reviews were from people that did not respect the rentals, and caused a lot of damage. I went 2 times for a total of 8 hours out in the desert. Believe me 4 hours is enough. Bring lots of water and make sure you have a full tank of gas when traveling out there. The scenery is amazing. The family is reasonable, and respectful. I would have no problem renting from them every weekend if we lived out here.Note: Make a reservation in advance. Be polite, and understand there are a couple forms that have to be filled out in order to rent the vehicles. They will place a hold on a credit card for about $500.00 depending on your rental. I had no problem getting my deposit cleared both times I rented. If you have time to talk with the owners I suggest you do so, they are good folks lots of knowledge of the area and love to tell stories about past rental incidents. You would be amazed at how some people treat equipment they rent.

Today my son and I along with a few of my sons friends, headed out for a half day of ATV riding at Ocotillo Wells. We have been to San Diego Motorsport Rentals four or five times in the past and will continue to go there. Their prices are very reasonable, their bikes in decent condition, especially considering the nature of where they are being used, and the staff always very helpful. Its sad their bikes couldnt be a little prettier, but they run well and having rolled one myself a few years back, they get some abuse out there in the real world. A first class operation all the way.

Oscar and his team are friendly and laid back. My family was in town visiting and we wanted to ride Ocatillo. We rented three quads and two dirt bikes. All were in good to excellent shape. The tires on my Honda 230 were pretty worn down but it ended up handling just fine in any terrain from hard pack to sand. Overall we had a great time and will rent from SD Motor Sport Rental again. For the past 2 years we have rented quads at this operation in Ocotillo Wells and had an absolutely wonderful time. I found the staff to be very efficient and helpful. We had some inexperienced riders in our group and staff made sure everyone understood the operation of their vehicle. This year we arrived without a reservation (not recommended) and they bent over backwards to accommodate us and we ended up having a great, great day just as last year.With respect to the broken/damaged deposit and charges my personal experience is the opposite of other reviewers so I think they are reasonable. If it is something that might be considered normal wear and tear, they are not going to ding you, or at least they didnt ding me for some minor damage I pointed out to them that I committed during our revelry.We plan to rent from them every year we are lucky enough to make the trip to the desert. Their quads are in great running shape mechanically and this area is just huge and varied. You can bomb down the washes at 50 mph or creep up and down crazy terrain, whatever you like. I have no complaints about the service at all, I think they were friendly and efficient and understand that this place is REMOTE. The check in desk is a 1-2 person operation and it takes some time to fill out all the paperwork, like renting skiis or anything else. My advice is to have a reservation, show up a little earlier than your time, and be prepared if someone is in front or you that you might have to wait for them to finish checking in. Then go out and have a great time, we certainly did- 2 years in a row.

Definitely want to eat before and bring a backpack cooler with plenty of water as the nearest food establishments are nearly 20 minutes away. This is the most fun Ive ever had riding. The scenery alone is worth the drive.

Went to Ocotillo Wells last weekend with my son and buddy. I stopped by SD Motor Sport Rentals to rent my son a quad to ride. Oscar greeted us 1st thing in the morning and got us all hooked up. He briefed my son on the quad since it had been a few years since last riding and gave us a map to remind us were everything was. My buddys battery was dead on his personal quad, so Oscar sold him one for 1/2 the price as everyone else and then lent my buddy a front tire since his rim was bent to heck and all wobbly. So off we went into the desert having an awesome time hitting blow sand, the cove behind blow sand, devils slide, shell reef & pumpkin patch. Good thing we had the map cause we got a little lost finding pumpkin patch. It was a great day of fun riding, but all things must come to an end so we headed back to SD Motor Sport Rentals. We got there @ 4 and my son really wanted to try a dirt bike out. We asked Oscar & he not only let him but gave him a little lesson on how to ride one. My son cruised around the shop area for about an hour testing out the dirt bike. So we wrapped things up, thanked Oscar and headed home. When we got home, my son was bummed cause he realized he left his helmet at the rental place. I called Oscar the next day and he said he could bring it to us on his way through Escondido. I cant thank Oscar & SD Motor Sport Rentals enough. 5 stars all the way!

We had a blast enjoying our first quad experience. The 85,000 acres offered at Ocitillo had every type of terrain imaginable and the the quads were able to handle most of it. The equipment was great value for the money and the staff made it very easy for a first-timer. Highly recommended!

I limped in to their parking lot at 6pm on a Sunday night with a blown coil-over on my FJ Cruiser, and the crew at SD Motor Sport were amazing!They spent the next three hours getting my rig back on the road -- Dennis did the tear down while one of the regulars at SD M/S, Raymond, actually drove me all the way to Brawley and back to get the part from the only auto parts store open late on Sunday.When we got back, Dennis and Oscar, working by floodlight, replaced the coil over and got me back on the road. They saved me a huge towing bill and a motel for the night, and allowed us to get to work on Monday! I cant say enough for the outstanding, go-the-extra-mile service they gave us!Whats more is that they were extremely generous with the price! They could have had me over the barrel, being on a Sunday night and all, but instead they cut me an excellent deal.I recommend Dennis and Oscar without hesitation. Great guys, great business. A pleasant experience, the staff was very informative and helpful. They explained everything to the riders that made the time there enjoyable. I recommend that you go in the coldest part of winter. I went in February with a friend that was visiting from Miami, and it was in the low 70s. He rented a Yamaha YZ 250 for himself and kindly rented a 350cc Honda ATV for me. We were very satisfied with our time there. If you dont own a dirt bike or an ATV, you cant go wrong renting one there, and enjoy the great open spaces of Ocotillo Wells. Happy Trails!

We rented 7 pieces of equipment. 2-250s, 3-450s, 1-700 atvs and 1-450 bike. The staff was great in getting us set up for our adventure. Provided a map and suggested areas to ride and rest. We did a full day and was well worth the money. We did not have any equipment breakdowns. Everything went as we planned and really made our trip a great time. Ive rented from these guys 3 times and each experience is better than the last. First off, the equipment is very good--especially for the price. Weve only taken the ATVs, but Im pretty sure they have dirt bikes and buggys too. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and they provide a real helpful map and overview of the HUGE area in which you can ride. Last time out we had some car trouble and the owner basically bent over backward to help us out--and this was AFTER our rental. Awesome guy, awesome place. The one bad review was probably from someone who wrecked the equipment and is trying to get out of paying for it. Trust me, you have to REALLY mess up their stuff to rack up a bill like that--be responsible and honest and these guys will certainly take care of you. Cant recommend them enough!

Amazing place super fun for offroads, the rentals are awesome the equipment was great. We rented 2-450 bikes and 1-450 quad and had a blast! It was our first time at Ocotillo Wells and for sure wouldnt be our last. If they had more dirt bikes that would be great, other than that everything is sweet!

Reserved 4 quads and a motorcycle over spring break for a day through these guys an couldnt be happier with our experience. When we got there it turned out that two of the quads were double booked so they turned that negative into a positive by upgrading the two of us whos quads were gone, up to a side-by-side UTV instead! Then once we got out on the road one thing led to another and the UTV ended up with a flat, but the staff were super helpful and got it fixed in no time at all and for way cheaper than we expected. Overall the shop is a great place to rent from and the people are real nice and know what theyre doing.

Hot, TOO Hot, went there in April and it was in the 90s. Rented for 4Hrs and was finished by the 3rd hour. We Loved It, but next time we will go during the cooler part of the year. We got the semiautomatic ATVs. Ran Perfect, No Issues. They gave us a serious Safety Brief and Orientation prior to going out, taught us everything we needed to do or not do to stay safe. Highly Recommend for adults and children beginner to advanced.

I took my 2 sons out to Ocotillo Wells and we rented 2 dirtbikes and a quad from SD Motorsports. I cant say enough good things about this shop. If youre looking for a great experience riding ATVs in the desert then this is your place. VERY PROFESSIONAL! When we arrived our bikes and quad were fueled up and sitting out front, ready to go. They were all in great shape and they all ran perfectly for the entire day. Their prices are competitive and affordable. The rental process was streamlined and easy. Brian, the owner, is friendly and very knowledgeable. He emphasized safety and ran through the whole riding process with us. He then pulled out a map of the area and highlighted where he thought we would have the most fun riding and even pointed out from the parking lot specifically how to get there. Ive dealt with other rental shops before and this is far and away the best one that Ive encountered. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Everyone in our group of 12 had an amazing time this last weekend. We rented a couple RZR side by sides, 3 450s, 3 400s and 2 250s. The check in process and helmet/goggle sizing was very quick after scheduling in advance. They had a vehicle for every skill level and emphasized safety the whole time. They ensured we had a good understanding of the areas that we could ride and made sure that we were comfortable on each vehicle that we were riding. Gas was delivered promptly every morning along and any minor adjustments to the ATVs were made at the same time ie. adjusting flags on the back and checking that all other fluid levels were still correct. Overall it was a great experience and we will make sure to rent from them again the next time we come back to Ocotillo Wells.

We drove from San Diego because we heard about the amazing hikes in Anza Borrego. We were heartbroken to find that you needed a 4-wheel drive for access to most of them and on whim we stopped at San Diego Motorsports to ask for advice. Even though it was Thanksgiving day the owner Brian was amazingly generous and drove us to the trailhead using his truck. It was an incredibly kind gesture and our family had a great hike. We will never forget our Thanksgiving day hike thanks to Brian!

Worst business ever! The razr we rented broke the first day and they charged us a two day rental and for the repairs. When my husband returned it he was cussed out and treated very poorly. They had several other atvs in the same week for repairs as well. Their poorly kept up equipment is not the renters responsibility. We have owned our own atvs for 30+ years and know how to treat them. We will be taking them to court if the credit card charges are not reversed!

We decided to rent ATVs at Ocotillo Wells. Took the family out kids and adults. We where all sized to the correct atv and skills. Got a safety breif from them that went over all to do and not to do issues. It was a little hot. But everyones enjoyed themselves great memories. Very Friendly and Informative. You need to try this.

Drove out, chose the A TV we wanted to ride, received a orientation and safety brief that covered everything you would need to know and headed out into the desert for 4 hrs of fun. Highlight of any vacation, have to try

Limited supply of utv’s but the plenty of dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. Fair price but 4 hours or all day instead of 1 hour is going to be your best deal.

Owner verbally assaulted me.I lost the keys to their truck, I agree it was my fault. However, I have the owner on tape verbally assaulting me which gave me a panic attack. He also extorted $250 additionally out of me on top of all the fees and fines I paid.

It wasnt open, even though the neon sign said it was. I didnt need to rent anything just needed to buy food and water (traveling on foot out of the desert), and was very disappointed that it wasnt open and had no posted hours of operation.
