Really easy to rent, very convenient location, nice route suggested to see the hills and park with views of the city and ocean and then down to the cove to see the sea lions and seals and we could do it all in just a couple of hours with these bikes. Just be aware at the time we went, there was a decent amount of construction and our brakes were very noisy as some hills are quite steep. We think it was time to replace brakes but the bikes still worked great. I did forget to bring it to their attention when we got back. Sorry!

Since moving to California last summer, my husband has been obsessed with the idea of getting an e-bike with seats for our two kids. After looking at various shops for months, two weekends ago, he decided to go for it. He was set on getting it from SD Electric Bike because of his good experiences in-store and its proximity to where we live. So he did it, he bought the bike.But the Sunday he bought the bike and the few days following, it was raining non-stop and therefore we stored the bike indoors. By Friday, I was so ready for the much needed space the bike was taking up in our hallway (no garage) so I called San Diego Electric Bike while the kids were having lunch to find out if they sold a cover (the bike is XL) and if they didnt, what size/kind did they recommend.The beginning of the conversation went fine, but then my son started crying hard (he is a little over a year old) which triggered his older sister to start making noise too. I apologized while trying to calm the kids down and heard nothing, I even said are you there? and he said yes, but there is just a lot of noise. I apologized again, and as I settled the kids and walked out of the room, he hung up on me.I get the kids were being loud, but I am taking care of two kids all day and they are children, not adults. I am doing my best. They are doing their best. They make noise and I cant control them. My husband also had just spent over $3k at this shop, he could have granted me an extra 20 seconds to figure things out and continue our conversation. I feel there were many better ways to handle that than just to hang up on me. Anything from I cant hear you well, can you change rooms? or Do you want to call me back? Both of which I would have done. I also immediately called back and the phone just rang and rang. And then honestly, I cried because it is hard being a mother and doing/giving everything you can and still being treated like that.I wish we had spent our hard earned money elsewhere. I wont go back in.

Tl;dr Bought an ebike on the internet and it worked until it didnt. These guys fixed it. THANK GOODNESS!Story time... Okay, so you bought an ebike on the internet (maybe for your partner). She used it daily, commuting to and from work, and on the occasional weekend outing. Memories are made; the bike grows on you.Then, one day, the (hydraulic) brake simply fails.You take it to one bike shop. They tell you they have a lead time of 2 weeks. They tighten a few screws, refill the brake fluid, and then charge you almost $200. Within a few days, the brake has stopped functioning again; all the fluid has leaked out.You try to get in contact with the bike shop again, but they dont respond. You try another bike shop, but they refuse to service the random bike you got off the internet.A feeling of despair creeps on you. Whereas before, that bike was part of you (or your partners) everyday routine, you now instead fret about whether to get rid of it, whether to replace it. You go back to the internet, but no bike has just the right set of features.I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate these guys. I scheduled an appointment (through a convenient online form, no less), took it in 2 days later, and the SD Electric Bike had done a full brake replacement within a week (it would have been faster, but the timing of the shop hours didnt line up); remarkable considering that the lead time on the other shops were about two weeks at least. Unlike the other shops, SD Electric Bike also identified some other bits that needed maintenance (grindy steering and worn out front brake pads).Thank you guys so much!BTW: regarding the inventory -- I though it worth mentioning that these guys also carry Gazelle bikes, which are *great*.

Great experience. Wife and I rented bikes for 4 hours and rode down to Ocean Beach pier for lunch then ride back. Great trip. The beach walks were busy so you need to expect to go slow (9mph speed limit and pedestrians have the right off way). Still so great riding along the beach, down the LaJolla bike path and over to the San Diego River bike trail. Followed Google maps for directions.Staff at store was nice, laid back, and prompt. The bikes were in great condition and I had 60% battery left after the 4 hour rental. Zero complaints.

We had a lot of fun, and the gentleman/clerk was very friendly and helpful. $40 for 2 hours was quite reasonable, and the bike had excellent power and excellent breaks. Would definitely try this again, especially with a friend visiting town. For what its worth, when I returned the bike at 1 hour and 55 minutes, I had about 10% energy left in the battery, and my friends battery was about 15%. So I am not sure that a 3-hour rental would work... Unless you really baby the battery.

The bikes performed great. The only issue was that the guy issuing the bike seemed to have a problem sending the bicycle route to me, telling us that he had already sent it to my partner. So instead of sending me the route, he sent me advertisement for the store.

Making reservations was simple. Employee was very accommodating. Fair prices. Our large family group thought the bikes would be confusing but we all (teens to grandparents) found them very easy to use and had a fantastic time. Great activity for a wide variety of ages.

Great experience! I really enjoyed getting a feel for how a pedal assist bike works and San Diego Electric Bike provided great customer service. Mine was not a throttle bike( IDK if they even rent those?? ) and you do have to pedal for the motor to assist. Enjoy the ease and extended range if you give it a go!

Ray went above and beyond to fit my husband and me for e-bikes. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful and didnt oversell - but looked for what was right for us. Great shop, bike selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great service!!!
