The location is great as it is within walking distance to the beach. The room was not ready when we arrived, prior to 4 pm. The room was made ready closer to 6 pm. The room had an extremely strong aroma of bleach so we had to ventilate it for a couple of hours before going in. The pull-out couch is very worn, especially the mattress. It was more comfortable to sleep on top of the closed couch. The separate bedroom was nice to have as it provided some privacy. Overall, the experience was good given that it is a dated property. The pool and other amenities like the fitness center are a big plus. It is within a reasonable driving distance to San Diego attractions and it provides a quiet place to rest. It deserves a second visit

Enjoyed Our StayWe almost didn’t come here because of the mixed and negative reviews. Would have been our loss. A lot of it may have to do with expectation. If you book a resort that was built in 1955 does it makes sense to expect it would be like a new Hyatt? This is definitely an older place but they’ve done a great job of trying to keep it current and make it nice, and comfortable. Our unit was clean, somewhat updated and we saw no signs of bugs, mold, and rust people have reported. We had two minor maintenance issues and both were addressed immediately to our satisfaction.We stayed four nights with two grandchildren ages 10 and 6 and our family enjoyed the stay- the kids love all the amenities around this resort.The entry, lobby area and downstairs game room are quite nice and modern. The front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. They have some activities every day and our granddaughter particularly liked making a rubber bracelet on Thursday, and we all liked the $1 root beer floats on Friday. We were here the last week of May and it wasn’t overly crowded. We had no problem using any of the amenities whenever we wanted. Later in the summer when it’s more crowded, I’m sure it would be more difficult to get your turn.We stayed in the deluxe one bedroom, which is the largest unit they have. The original design of the unit is odd in its layout. It has a really tiny kitchen, which we found difficult to use for cooking much although we did manage it. There’s very little food storage in the kitchen area, except in the refrigerator, although plenty of drawers and cupboards in the unit. Sleeping arrangements are odd if you have little kids like we who need to go to bed early. The kitchen, Murphy beds and living room area are all one fairly small room. There is a curtain to draw across but once you get the kids in bed, there’s no place the adults can go to play cards, watch tv or do anything without waking the kids. If we had older kids or other adults with us who all went to bed about the same time it wouldn’t be the same issue. We did not use the restaurant.Having said all this, we think this was a fine place to come for a getaway, especially with grade school aged children. We would come back again if the opportunity arises.San Clemente is a very cute beach town with lots of shops, restaurants, bars, and a pier area with nice beach.

All of the updated spaces were great and the food at the restaurant (at least the items I had: short ribs, biscuits, and beignets) was amazing! I noticed some suites were updated but the one stayed in was not. Once every room has been updated, the full experience would be improved.

All started on the 18th at 2:46pm when Andrew called and asked what room we would like. We said 102. He said great ok I’ll block that out for you. We ask if this was something new. He said yes we’re trying something new. The wife and I talked about it and decided to call back and confirm at 5:03pm. Got Andrew again and he yes it’s all taken care of. He said no need to be here at 1 we will call you when the room is available. Normally we are between 1 and 5 on the list. So we didn’t go to the Inn at 1 like normal. Around 3pm we decided to go wait at San Clemente Inn. Then we find out room 102 isn’t available and that it was occupied for a month. If we would have been there at 1pm we would have at least been available to pick what room we wanted. Instead we were assigned a room that was available, 369. 3 flights of stairs. We ended up next to a room that had a dog and a screaming baby, joy. But then we down to the spa and 2 gentlemen were there smoking so we went back to the room and waited an hour went back down to the spa to find multiple cigarettes in the spa, glass beer bottles around the spa and some plastic cups. The front desk NEEDS to do walk around. This needs to stop. Also Andrew needs to look for a new job. But here on out we will not trust anything San Clemente Inn or Grand Pacific Resorts says. Because of everything that happened we called it quits and came back Thursday morning. We were tired of the dog, baby, loud music and the stairs. First time in probably 10 years we’ve ever had an experience like this.

Enjoyed a peaceful stay, kinda close to the beach - 5-10 min. walk down/up the hill. a little bit farther away from downtown but not too far, very drive-able, fairly safe and secure area, it was a nice 1 week stay for us.

Walls thin spent 3 nights trying to sleep could hear snoring through wall. TV’s way small outdated. Looks very nice in lobby and staff reception at facility was awesome.Tried calling facility b4 arrival was difficult and unsuccessful. Restaurant price and choices not compatible with other choices in community. Fairly good location however was not overly happy enough to consider staying again or buying.However we have had a total excellent experience at your Carlsbad location

My family and I stayed from March 3–April 5. During this time we had ate room services once. Housekeeping did not clean the room. They made the beds, gave us clean towels, and took out the trash. But did no cleaning. And the room smelled. The smell seem to be coming from the garbage disposal.

The facilities at The San Clemente Inn are fantastic! Mini golf, swimming pool, games, bbq areas, tennis courts and much more! The rooms were clean and the facilities were well kept. The suite we stayed in had a nice kitchenette with dining area with deck. We were pleased with our stay. 👍👍

We are impressed by the commitment to keeping the grounds and rooms clean. The available outdoor activities are good and well maintained. Things that would improve our stay is better internet. A TV that is slightly larger and able to accept a ROKU or any other streaming stick. Our stove only had one burner that works. Blackout curtains in the bedroom. Too much light is coming through from the outside hallways.

This was a great find for a Thanksgiving week retreat from the cold of Utah. We had perfect warm weather the entire time. San Clemente is a relatively quiet town in the hustle and bustle that is Orange County, California. We found the check-in easy and welcoming. The room was better than expected for a studio. Very comfortable for me and my wife. The kitchenette was well-equipped with everything we needed. There was a two-burner stove top, medium-sized fridge, microwave oven, with many small appliances available in the cupboards. Plenty of glassware, flatware, dinnerware, etc.There was a distinct scent to the room that hit us initially. The smell indicated that the property was older, but the cleanliness and care of this place was undeniable. This did not have a new-property scent (if that makes sense to frequent travelers).For those who are bothered by being next to a major freeway (I-5), this may not be ideal, but we had no problem with the noise once in the room because going anywhere off property from our room was so easy. We went to San Diego one day. The San Clemente Outlet mall for Black Friday shopping. Visited many local restaurants in the area and spent many hours walking to San Clemente Pier for some exercise every day of our stay. The staff at SC Inn were very friendly and helpful.

January 2024Celebrating a birthday! Stayed in Carlsbad facility and loved it. First time at San Clemente. Front desk reception and service was pleasant.Resort fee should be optional $27 a day up-charge. Location and service have been good. Disappointed in computer size TV screen in room 😟As well TV screen was small in larger room (LVR / Dining) area.Recommend they update TV’s.We had been considering ownership however have not so favorable impression of this resort.

Rain water collected on balcony was not cleared prior to stay, and we were expected to clear it. Also, when clearing it, it was extremely slow draining into a non functioning drainage area on both ends of patio. It left us unable to use it.Also, kitchenette had no condiment (salt/pepper) options for meals except coffee.And why are room furnishings expected to be moved back to original room setup without use of Murphy beds? Too much labor without room services.

Great place, lots of amenities and very comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed! I was visiting my son who is stationed at Camp Pendleton so location to him was perfect. It was only 10 minutes to downtown San Clemente. I would stay again for sure!

There was so many fun things to do as a family at the hotel: mini-golf, shuffle-board, ping-pong, swimming, etc. It was such a close walk to the beach. The grounds were so beautiful. Overall, it was such a great time!

This trip was a very meaningful stay celebrating 54 years of marriage. We notify you of our special occasion, and said my husband was handicapped. We asked for a room with a view, of the ocean. They forgot to tell us there were no elevators, and our rooms were 25 to 30 yards from our handicapped parking. When We finally got settled in our rooms we had to call room service to replace a lightbulb that was burned out, and there were no filters for our coffee maker so we had to call again. When we turned on the television the language was set on Spanish and we didn’t know how to change it so we had to call a third time to get somebody to come up and adjust the TV in English. The bed was hard as a rock, the View out our back window was of barbecue area and bushes. for us the room was more like a hotel six. we should have stayed home and celebrated in our own home, what a disaster. On a positive note your front desk personnel were top notch, and your Bill boy that helped us coming and going was a real gentleman. We booked for a week but left 3 days early very disappointed. Will not recommend to friends or family.

The resort was nice, amenities were excellent! Pull out couch was terrible, I would look into putting memory foam on the beds as they are very uncomfortable. Also it was upsetting we could not have our entire family join us in the amenities outside as we had a 6 capacity room and 8 guests (my brother who lives close to the resort and his girlfriend). It would be nice to buy additional passes for our entire family to participate in the amenities.

We enjoyed our stay here; our kids found it fun. Our room could use some upgrading but it was clean. Restaurant was excellent. I think if the inn could provide water, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, that along with wine and beer for purchase- makes traveling with kids better. Pool service or some Continental breakfast goodies could push it to five stars review for me. The grounds are very nice with lots of outdoor fun for families…a little hard to check those things out. Staff was friendly and helpful, close to the beach.

I had a unit that sleeps 6, and it was set up for privacy. Having a full bathroom as well as a powder room was awesome! There were many opportunities nearby - the beach trail took us to the pier, shopping, and food establishments. The 2 night time events at the Inn for adults was fun. Live music is always a plus! Yes, there were activities for kids. I would definitely go back!

We enjoyed our week here at the Inn! Its clean and family oriented. The staff were exceptional and went out of their way to take care of anything we needed. Its not a five star resort, but its comfortable and well kept. The rooms are a little dated, but everything works. We loved the Riviera restaurant inside the lobby. The customer service here is absolutely appalling. After spending an unbelievable amount on the rooms, I found myself arguing with concierge staff for over an hour just to check in. The situation only continued to worsen as our family tried to celebrate a birthday by the pool and grills. We were harassed by staff constantly as there were not enough wrist bands for our visitors to celebrate with us. Some were even forced to leave the premises before singing happy birthday and having cupcakes for a toddler! On top of everything, I am 9 months pregnant and was not even permitted into the pool area to retrieve my wrist band from my mother in law- instead the staff shut the gate in my face and instructed me to walk to the front desk which was a distant walk from where I was.The rooms have drawers that have not been maintained and do not function properly. The TVs are smaller than I have seen in most cheap motels. The cleaning in the room and throughout the amenities is horrendous. I could go on but I hope by now all have been warned of this awful establishment. Needless to say we will not be staying here again and highly recommend all to avoid this overpriced facility

We’ve stayed here a few times before and will likely return for many more visits. It’s a great, quiet area by virtue of it being off the beaten path. We love the 8 to 10 pool and the 2 jacuzzis, the fully stocked kitchen, the balcony and the multitude of entertainment that you can rent for free. There is a bbq zone and a gym. The pool is almost always busy, but it’s great; I think they changed it up and it’s now a saltwater pool. You can park up to 2 vehicles per room for free on their gigantic parking lot. You can walk to the beach. You can rent so many DVDs and spend the days there just chilling out. It’s a fantastic place to relax. Please don’t come here because it’s already a little difficult finding availability 🥲Now, the service is all very friendly, but they’re stretched thin. There were often pretty long lines when we needed to speak to someone, like at checking or when renting stuff. Housekeeping didn’t come to our room all day, and then at 7 PM when we finally came back “home” and flipped the do not disturb on, they left us a note that oops apparently they couldn’t clean because we had DND on, but why the hell would we want that when it’s already 7 at night anyway? Our room also had ants in the bathroom cabinets, I’m guessing because it was on the first floor and opened directly to some vegetation. It didn’t really bother us, the ants were in our room before us and stayed there for longer than us because we were out and about. It’s cool.The rooms have so much stuff in them too. Beyond the typical hairdryer and iron, there is a dishwasher, a full sized fridge, all kinds of supplies like paper towels, pots and pans, a mop, an ironing board… I’m sure I’m missing a lot more useful and/or unexpected stuff, but long story short it’s fully equipped for long term stays.TLDR We always recommend this place for a chill vacation.

Really cannot beat the location, price and service! The rooms decor may not knock your socks off but they are large rooms with a kitchenette and living room area. Perfect for traveling with the family. The grounds and common areas are updated beautifully and very modern. The service was great (Thanks Autumn!) A block or so walk to a great beach. Close to downtown shopping and restaurants as well. Overall we had an amazing stay and would absolutely book again!

The view from the room is great but other than that for the price go stay at a Marriott or holiday inn. The restaurant is nice but that’s about it. The tvs are smaller then an iPad and one thing we werent warned about is the ANT problem the kitchen is unusable and can’t bring anything in not worth it for longer stays and no accommodations for the problem all over the bed and counters and got in our bags. Beds were uncomfortable and they did provide toppers after three nights in and complaining they should just have them to begin with. For the money just not worth it.

The suite was the same price as most rooms at other hotels. Everything was provided in the kitchenette including a microwave and a tiny dishwasher. The bed was very comfortable and I liked there was a walk-in shower. The hotel has lots of amenities including a small mini-golf course that Im looking forward to for next time. This is my new favorite hotel.

I was very dissatisfied with the result of a dispute regarding our room charges. I highly recommend you check rates before you fall within the 7 day no cancellation period. The rates may drop significantly during that time as was our experience. They advertise a Best Rate Guarantee that they do not honor.The room we stayed in was comfortable but desperately needs a remodel. There were many cosmetic repairs needed, carpets were badly stained and the couch cushions sunk in on one of the couches.However, the resort amenities were newer, clean and attractive. We had meals at the restaurant Riviera in the hotel 3 times in the week and service, food and comfort were great in the restaurant.

The hotel provided information about San Clemente, and a detailed map of places that tourists would need. The lobby was beautifully decorated for the holiday. Our room was delightful. This is NOT the beach hotel youre looking for! In the span of one week, we had a major power outage for hours, hot water out, disgusting cleanliness issues such as dead bugs behind the beds and roach killer in the kitchen cabinet with pots and pans, all to finish off with a major plumbing issue in our building that caused us to have to move rooms.The GM, Lisa, was extremely rude during our interactions with her throughout the week, reminding us that things were not her fault and doing very little to help remedy problems.Not even an apology for all the things we had to deal with.The rooms are outdated, dirty, and have no views of anything besides walls and parking lots. We will NEVER stay here again and will encourage others to find better accommodations.

When my daughter checked the location of the first room160, it had roaches, so we did not check iinto that room. The second room 260 the microwave was burnt on the plastic door and the inside of the microwave, the carpet was dirty, paint chipping on the bathroom door and the pull out sofa mattress was stained horribly. So, we end up moving again to room 132, which was okay. For the price I paid, I expected better.

San Clemente Inn is such an exceptional place. That’s why I keep on going back every time I visit. The rooms are so well equipped with so many towels,pillows, blankets, etc. It feels like a second home. The kids loved the pool, mini golf, even playing checkers every morning. I was pleasantly surprised by the SC Inn. The room was spacious. There were two Murphy beds in addition to the bedroom, a kitchenette and living room. We didnt use any of the amenities since it was a quick overnight stay, but the space allowed me to move around in the morning without disturbing my wife.The only negative was that the light outside the bedroom window was bright, so our room wasnt dark.The location is directly off the freeway. That made access easy though. We rode our e-bikes down to the SC pier. And I ran down to the beach. The location worked well for us overall on this trip.

Too restrictive with guests. Our family vacations in San Clemente every year. We stay at 3 separate locations due to the number of people. We also have relatives in So Call who we wanted to visit. We were twice confronted, once when we had two extra people in the gazebo. Another when we were at the pool with 4 children and my daughters family. No one else was at the pool when we were confronted. The fear of towing was also a negative.

This place has a superb restaurant called the Riviera. The food is great and the chef amazing. Unfortunately I heard that he has left. That said it was reported that the quality of the food has not diminished. I have had several great meals here.The hotel itself is old and a bit shabby. The rooms that have not been refurbished are served with a small air conditioner that doesn’t work well to cool the room. I have had good luck here but the last stay i had to cut short because the moldy smell in the room was overpowering. I was told that there has been a recent management change and the prices have been raised beyond good sense. Great location off Highway 5 and the amenities are good.

What a jewel! Booked this property as a stopover to dropping my Son off at Camp P. Safe to say we will be back, the property itself is beautiful and the photos do no justice. The room I booked was a one bedroom suite, did not expect the high quality for the price! Murphy beds in the living room as well as a dining table and couch! Large fridge, a dishwasher and all the pots, pans, appliances you didn’t know you needed. Beautiful walk to the beach, excellent staff and fabulous resort amenities. I will add that SC cafe 4 min drive away is the place to go for breakfast.

Well, could have been different. First room the heater broke. Took all day of our vacation week to get them to change our room. Were told get your exchange company to comp you. No such thing. Second room, heater inadequate, did not complain as it worked somewhat. Southern California was experiencing unprecedented cold, but we were gone all day so used blankets at night. Heard other complaints about the same thing. Still, some of the most uncaring customer service Ive experienced. Anyway, not all bad. Clean rooms, decent bed and kitchen appliances worked. Grounds are nice, clean, spotless pool and an extravagant Christmas display at our time there.

The San Clemente Inn is a beautiful hidden gem in San Clemente. Amazing location and exceptional staff. Just a 5-minute walk down to the beach as well! Gorgeous sunsets! The grounds are beautiful and immaculate. The room accommodations are fantastic, especially when traveling with six people. We have been owners for over 12 years and we love this place! They have a nice pool and hot tubs. There is a small gym as well. There is also miniature golf, a shuffleboard and tennis courts. For a smaller resort, the offerings are fantastic. Currently staying here and will be for the next 3 days as I already paid for it.We are here to celebrate my partners birthday so it’s a big occasion and privacy and peace is our #1 priority.I approached the lady at front deck and politely asked her if we could switch rooms because there was a lot of noise coming from the room below us.Instead of accommodating us and apologizing for the noise, she argued it and told me it would stop.She denied us changing rooms and completely ruined our birthday celebration.The hotel was also very empty and had tons of rooms available.A shame. We will not be coming back here

We love vintage buildings but because this building is a 70s era the windows are single pane aluminum framed and not heat/cool efficient and not good for blocking the freeway road noise. The updates to tile flooring is good but the dishwasher and fridge are too old and our dishwasher didnt work well. The outside changes to artificial grass are appreciated for water savings but no recycle bins are provided inside the room. Absolutely love the state park next door! A pathway to the park and a sidewalk to the beach would be better and safer. We looked at some old reviews before our trip and were a bit discouraged. Most recent reviews reflected that there were room renovations in the past few years yielding a better response from people. The lobby, playroom, fitness center, restaurant and pool area were very nice. Our room appeared to have newer furniture in the living area and flooring. Beds were ok but we have back issues to be fair. We were most disappointed in the bathroom. Both the toilet and vanity were usually low for adults. It felt like walking into an elementary school bathroom for 1st graders. The shower did not have enough towel racks to hang our wet towels. The inn did provide a supply of towels in the vanity and daily maid service if we wanted it. We dont typically change our towels out everyday and of course there was that notice in the room to conserve water/energy by reusing your towels. We had to hang towels on the top of doors. Additionally there was not sufficient storage space in the vanity or any rails inside the shower. Ending on a good note, the place is clean, well lit at nite and staff friendly. There seems to be ample parking and the inn is very close to the beach and downtown San Clemente.

Sorely disappointing experience, the rooms were gross and seemed as if they hadn’t been properly cleaned. Upon arrival there was a spider above our door inside our room, the kitchen table and surfaces were sticky/ grimy, there were ants in the shower, a dead bug on the wall in the living room, and the cherry on top was a mouse lingering outside our front door scavenging for food. We don’t plan to come back here.

The hotel staff was really friendly and charged me an extra $30 per night for the correct room but the hotel was really expensive for what you got to begin with. At first glance everything looked good, but the hotel is VERY - VERY noisy. Our room was at the ground level. Their floor is made of tile and you can hear every step, loud screechy sounds when upstair neighbors moved their chairs and it can be as late as 2 am or as early as 6am. Also room service didnt do their work as often as we would like to. Our room wasnt clean for 3 days and we had a lot of trash and used towels on the floor. The queen bed is comfortable, the other 2 twin beds are not.On the bright side the pool is very good. It has a salt water instead of chemicals. Lisa called as soon as she got my concerned message to let me know that staff had found it and secured it for me. I was reassured by her pleasant and calm response and her efficiency in resolving the matter, all without even a hint of annoyance or judgement. Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at due to their hotel manager Lisa. I contracted with San Clemente Inn for my big wedding weekend. I say this with absolute assurance that every single person who booked a room through our room block had an issue. Some guests were told our room block didnt exist (so I would call and resolve the issue on others behalf), some were told it was sold out and they needed to get a room elsewhere, some never even received a emailed confirmation following up their reservations, and some were told they didnt have a reservation upon arrival. When my guests were told it was sold out, I was then given a call to let me know that I needed to sell more rooms or they would be taking my deposit. I quickly informed them of my guests that were told it was sold out (3 different occasions), to which the manager Lisa gave me such attitude and spoke over me with such a condescending tone asking for the time and date to which my guest was told this so she could listen to the phone recording. I dont keep records of my guests phone log, so I couldnt provide that information. When I followed up to resolve the issue I was informed by an employee that phone calls are NOT recorded, so I am not too sure why Lisa said this. I had guests who arrived who were told they didnt have a reservation even though they had a credit card charge. Every interaction with management was met with such grief and aggression. The staff at the front desk were lovely, but I must say this is a hotel ran by a manager without customer service skills. We are in a time when staffing is short and so I try my hardest to be patient and kind, but the troubles we faced were met with a lack of customer care and I think the owners of this hotel should know. I will not be staying here and neither will any of my 35 guests due to the difficulties they caused throughout the entire experience. San Clemente Inn needs to figure out their hotel management and get a hold because this was no way to treat any customer.

Our family had a wonderful time at this affordable yet resort-like hotel. The rooms were well stocked with dishes and glasses etc. for a family to cook or host. The outdoor bbq grills were Fire Magic brand ($$$) and cleaned daily. The outdoor hallways were swept and mopped daily. The restaurant Riviera was INCREDIBLE. Happy hour was excellent and lasted from 2-5pm. The kids played putt-putt golf for literally hours trying to make a hole-in-one on each hole. They also played air hockey, fooseball, basketball and shuffle board. They played chess and scrabble. They even watched a movie in the game room on the big screen.The best part about the hotel is the bottom floor rooms that access the grass turf area so we could relax and enjoy a drink on our balcony while watching/monitoring the kids playing.Our family definitely recommends this place for a long weekend local socal staycation.Oh and it’s only a 30 second drive to State Beach with TONS of parking.We had a blast… and we live local lol.

This is the 4th year we have stayed here. Check in is always a problem. Because of the switch to a new computer/reservation system, our notes requesting a handicap accessible or at least ground floor room close the the parking lot was not transferred over. So when we checked in I explained that my mom cant walk far, and uses a walker. So the young unfriendly lady at the desk gave us what she thought of as a ground floor room which required a long walk to the back of the complex and led us down a flight of stairs! I had to leave my mom sitting on her walker outside in the heat while I went back to the front desk to explain that room wont work as it requires a flight of stairs to access (which I would think she should have known)The manager on duty arranged to give us a nice room on the 1st floor#106 which was recently remodeled. (why werent we offered that room the first time??) We checked in to the room only to find the power was off in the room, including the air conditioner. It was 90 degrees in the room! (this was during the recent heat wave) So again I left my elderly mother in the room while I went back to the desk. I was told by the same unhelpful young woman that she would call the maintenance man and he would get to us as soon as possible. Finally the manager walked down with me and was able to reset the breaker box in the room but the air still didnt work. She had to reset the switch on the air conditioner unit. I dont understand why this room wasnt checked after the remodel to ensure it was in working order? Why did we as guests have to troubleshoot the room? So after a hot and miserable hour we finally were able to unpack and wait for the room to cool down. One outlet never did work, and the TV in the master bedroom remote never worked.

Older time share, they are working on upgrading the rooms but they are still fairly plain. We had the largest unit and its smaller than other places weve stayed but good enough for our family of three. The Murphy twin beds in the dining room area are a nice design and at least give the kids an option that is not a hide a bed or couch. There are no ovens, only a dual hot plate which threw us off and we had to replan the meals we brought. They also currently only have charcoal grills. They were running a gas line so I think that will change but for now even the BBQs are dated and also caused a trip to Carls Jr for dinner instead of what we had planned when it took to long to cook. Overall its a good place, but not as great as a lot of others. They do have a nice kids spa that they keep at a lower temp. The main complaint we had was the lack of towel holders. The room has zero towel holders or hoods yet they ask you to hang towels to conserve water. The lack of towel bars or hooks makes this impossible and we basically had to swap them out every day just to have dry ones. They also tell you not to drape them on the balcony or chairs, so swapping them is the only real option.

Since covid the upgrades have been amazing. I have always been comfortable here. I wanted to get in the spa real bad and wish they would open the spa hours longer, but when I arrived to the spa there were 8 guest in it and I had 15 min. I stay here at least 20 times a year. And the thing I look for is jumping in the spa. So when this happens it absolutely sucks. The could certainly do better with making sure the water pressure and shower fixers work well. Maybe some new fixers that create better pressure. But other then that with prices now your not finding much better with all that is offered. Keep it up. Love this place.

Great area in San Clemente Cove. Beach and pier short walk across the train tracks. Amtrax station right here if you want to take a ride up or down the coast. One bedrooms here are nice for a week or two. Looks like the rooms have been altered. Fire place is in a corner and room is crowded with sofa bed and two armed chairs. Two separate small square coffee tables are all so close you bang your feet and legs. Kitchen with mini stove and mini dishwasher. Regular size refrigerator. Small round dining table and little desk add to the already tight spaces. Bedroom small with a full size bed. Dresser is inside a small closet with nice size tv on it but you cant hang but a couple of items. Living room also has a nice size tv. Internet is slow and has problems. Manager Stephanie is a breath of fresh air and will do what she can to make you stay enjoyable. We would come back.

The San Clemente Inn is a time share community that sells extra rooms as a hotel. We love it here. We have come here at least once a year every year for over 20 years. Sometimes stay a week sometimes just a day. Either way, they have been awesome. It is not fancy. beds could be softer. but the amenities are great. the location is perfect. it is designed for longer stays as a corporate type apartment with a kitchenette and lots of beds. we usually can sleep a max of 7 people which is perfect for our family of 7. Very clean and updated hotel near San Clemente State Beach. You could really walk down to the beach but it would seem like quite the hike back up the hill after a day in the sun. But theres beach parking 15 bucks a day. The hotel also has a restaurant and a very nice pool and recreational area with corn hole, mini golf and ping pong. The pool was clean however the hot tubs were not very not. Apparently one is for children but even the adult hot tub is not hot enough. Thats my only issue and I guess its a small one.

My wife researched many sites in San Clemente. Hands down we would stay here again. The staff was accommodating and friendly. We had teenage boys that wanted to do their own thing, so the basketball court, pool table, mini golf and many other accommodations were right up our alley. The Inn itself is going through a renovation yet the reconstruction did not disrupt our stay. It was a very short drive to the beach (a walk for those prepared for a hillside jaunt). The rooms were not upscale but they were very comfortable and nice.

I love this place. If the Ritz or any other big named hotels wanted to take a page out of the book it would be from here. You walk in and your surrounded by beauty. Your not ambushed by any parking attendants. Parking is free with plenty of spaces. The rooms are all different models from a one bed in a room up to having your own little apartment. When your finished unpacking and you venture out to the back yard your greated with wide open space that not only has a jacuzzi for adults to enjoy but actually has on for kids to have fun in. Theres a mini golf course that any amusement park would love to have in their parks. Theres plenty of BBQ grills and gazebos to enjoy the night at with little fire pits to take the edge of with on cool nights. The game room is very clean and plenty to do from playing pool to shuffle board to ping pong and plenty of books to check out. The exorcise room has all youll need to enjoy from free weights to treadmill.Staff is very friendly and go our of their way to make your stay very enjoyable. Location cant be better. Not even half a mile from beach and wont even have to worry bout any parking or paying to park. Had a Great Stay at San Clemente Inn!I am very much enjoying my three-night stay at the San Clemente Inn – don’t let the aging exterior of the place discourage you, as the rooms are modern and offer so many welcome amenities. I’m staying in a one bedroom suite with kitchen, balcony and a nice view from the back of the hotel. Everything is exceeding my expectations – it is very roomy and clean, the bed is comfortable and the linens are clean and crisp. There is lots of seating from the kitchen table with four chairs, a full size couch and comfortable arm chair, and storage space galore. The kitchen is surprisingly well stocked with everything you’d need for preparing meals – a 3/4 size fridge, a two-burner Miele stove, lots of pots and pans, dishes for six, etc., even a little dishwasher! Staff are friendly and efficient, and there’s plenty of free parking. My daughter recently moved to San Clemente and so I’ll be visiting often, and I doubt I’ll bother to explore other hotels in the area as I have everything I need to be very comfortable right here at the San Clemente Inn!

Luved our stay here. It was an excellent room for the money. Very large slept 6 or 7 people full kitchen with new appliances and all the little things like new dish and silverware and a good size refrigerator. 2 bathrooms a large deck a big swimming pool separate hot tubs for kids and adults shuffleboard charcoal and gas grills on the property. is a family friendly environment and only about a three block walk to the beach. Terrible customer service. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights for my sons swim meet. None of front desk employees know how to greet and smile to us or any costumer. They hated their job and they dont even try to hide it. They only come to the room to take out the trash. They dont sweep or wipe the mirrors. We stayed at Crest Suite. We have to keep our doors and windows open 24hrs because the place smells like a wet dog. It doesnt look anything like the picture in their website(beware, the pictures are deceiving). Complex is pretty old but okay. View from our room was really good; they said it was one of the bigger rooms. Bathroom looked old and could be maintained better. When the room was serviced, the bathrooms were not cleaned so that could be better otherwise did a nice job of cleaning. This resort is a short walk from the beach but not really within walking distance to local restaurants. The rooms are outdated, despite claiming to be newly renovated, but they were very prompt in fixing a leaky garbage disposal. The amenities are nice: a pool with two hot tubs of different temperatures, ping ping tables, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, put put golf, shuffleboard, air hockey.

I love the retro easy going beach lifestyle. Only complaints Ive ever heard over 5+ years are from people with penthouse expectations..... its a beach house type of experience... . Love it..Beach is just down the hill.... super nice public beach. Very disappointed. The photos show a remodeled lobby and room, very misleading!!! We got a run down outdated room. Hinges on the bedroom door were loose, door stop loose, fraying furniture, marks on walls and floors, wallpaper peeling, dishwasher door doesnt always close, cheap bottle opener broken, knives so dull they mush blueberries and watered down dish soap. Our multiple conversations with the front desk ended with our manager will call you later today. Never got a call.Also, WiFi signal is weak and constantly knocking me off and making me reenter the password. No diaper aged kids in swimming pool. I have had both my kids in swimming classes since 2 months old and they wear swim diapers with no problems ever. This place is too rundown, unhelpful and uncaring with poor customer service. I will never return and highly suggest you choose another place to stay.

Our room was spacious, our balcony overlooked the pool and grassy area. There were other rooms whose balconies overlooked the corridor of the next building, which would not be good. The furnishings are a bit dated, but in good repair. I love the full sized refrigerator, and cook top. We had a room that slept six, and had a very large balcony. However the balcony only had 3 chairs and a side table. For a unit this large, there should have been more chairs out there, and a dining height table would have been nice. I didnt see any balcony with more than 3 chairs. Employees were friendly. We had an issue with the kitchen sink when we arrived, and it was addressed very quickly. There are DVD players in the room, and you can check out movies in the office. Short walk to the beach, but be aware that its a steep road, and coming back is a tiring uphill hike. Also, the road does not have sidewalk, so we had to walk little ones on the street. Its not super busy, but we observed many drivers going faster than I believe they should be considering the curves and pedestrians.

We have stayed or hung out with family and friends who have stayed here. The hotel is in a great location, right next to the San Clemente State Campgrounds. This gives family or friends who are not so keen on the idea of camping a easy, clean, well maintained place to stay within walking distance of the campsite. It’s also up the street from San Clemente State Beach, right by freeway access for the 5 freeway, nearby several fast food places, shopping and a bar!

The room carpet and chairs should be updated, and the restroom shower should be replaced. The courteous maintenance person pointed out that the shower did not have mold; rather, the door sealing was black because the shower is old. Housekeeping needs a better vacuum cleaner. The floor was still dirty after they vacuumed. The white fixtures and appliances were very clean. Housekeeping and maintenance staff are friendly and courteous. Location good for family because close to the beach, and the kitchen area is fully stocked with dishes, etc.

Staying at San Clemente Inn is like renting a car that is really ugly and broken on the outside but the interior looks great.The rooms and common areas have been recently remodeled and look good. Newer appliances and bathrooms look particularly good.That sad there are a few suggestions to make this place a 4 or 5 star.Have coffee in the lounge, have signs that show where to find rooms in every hallway, paint the exterior, upgrade the pool deck, and upgrade the bed quality.Unfortunately the staff was the worst part. There is a arch type of San Clemente citizens. Lack of drive and enthusiasm. Lacking the effort to go the extra mile. The front staff lost our rPaper reservation and just stood there after he couldnt find it under C the hotel is banking on the decades of being iconic without actually addressing the fact they need to upgrade to continue to be the iconic SC place to stay. The Hampton Inn across the 5 freeway looked much better on the outside.

Check in was a different process than most, but we got our first choice of room and it was clean and ready right away. The rooms are nice, the property is located in a safe neighborhood, and the walk to the beach is just a half mile (down a steep hill). Service is pleasant and polite and helpful. Rooms are updated but outside looks dated. We saw a skunk by the grills last night, and when I told an employee he said, Oh they are all over. Racoons too, so be careful. Hope we have no incidents with wildlife during our stay! :)

I like the concept of the amenities... I was however under the impression it was closer to the beach. Which it is not. Also you need to drive too get anywhere from the hotel. Its about 4miles to the main popular pier and night life. I did get a rom with a sliver of a view of the ocean. Also the beds are amazing!! We booked this place from Hotel Tonight and for the price we thought we were just getting a small spot to out our heads down. When we arrived we found what was basically a small apartment with living room area, bedroom, and 2 pull down beds. It also included a kitchen which was stocked with all the utensils and pans etc that you could need to make a meal. Weve been to this place twice now and love the area. Staff is great and of course the restaurant Adeles is great for breakfast.

The San Clemente Inn was a great surprise! We ended up booking here through HotelTonight and got a great deal. We originally booked a studio but got an upgrade to a one bedroom when we checked in. The room is incredibly spacious and could probably accommodate 4-5 people comfortably. It featured a full fridge and freezer, a cooktop, fully stocked cabinets with appliances and flatware and even a dishwasher! The room also featured a private balcony.The room was great if only a little dated. TVs and appliances seem older than youd get at most traditional hotels but by no means bad. The inn has a ton of amenities that I wish we had more time to check out (like a pool, mini-golf, shuffleboard, tennis courts and more) and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The restaurant here was actually very good too!One negative note on the housekeeping was that they were not very thorough in their cleaning, we werent even sure they stopped by until we saw that the bed was made.Overall this place feels like a hidden gem especially for the price and if your travels make staying down here in San Clemente workable I think youd be hard-pressed to find another hotel that even approaches this quality and experience at this price.

You can not beat this place price wise, location, cleanliness, interior ( Murphy beds come out of the walls to add to comfortable twin beds), kitchenette, separate bedroom, sofas beds... It is a wonderful place to get out of the city and relax. Its quite. It has a pool, hot tub and kid hot tub. There is a workout room, game room and mini golf course. You can bbq and enjoy dinner outside on the picnic tables. There are a few gazebos with comfortable outside furniture. The only downside is the walk to the beach is long and hard for little kids.

The overall stay was good until I had to deal with Susan at the front desk. She should not be working in hospitality at all shes rude. We definitely wont be staying here ever again. This security guards were nicer than the front desk representatives . The reps in the front all spoke in a condensending tone. The beds are very uncomfortable. There is no fan or a.c in one of the bedroom suites. The small a.c doesnt work well to get air into the room, adding a fan would work. And there was 2 huge roaches in the bathroom. Nasty nasty.

The San Clemente Inn was recently voted the best place to stay in San Clemente. The location is walking distance to the State park and beach, and biking distance from the famous Trestles surfing spot. The San Clemente Inn has great rooms featuring kitchens that make you feel like your in an apartment, not just a room. There are many on property activities including a large pool and jacuzzi, BBQ area, tennis courts, basket ball court, miniature putting course, weight room and recreation area. There is also a restaurant inside connected to the remodeled lobby. The staff is great providing the type of service with a smile approach that we appreciate. I recommend that you stay here the next time you are in town.

This is a nice fairly clean hotel with pretty big rooms. There’s a pool and two hot tubs, a mini golf course, and bar. There was a transgender night during our first night so check up on when those are going to happen in case you’re going to have kids joining you during your stay at the hotel.

Great area but very disappointed in the service at San Clemente Inn. Never once did we receive housekeeping during our 5 day stay despite calling the front desk multiple times. No making of beds, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, nothing. When we spoke with management about it, we were told they would speak with housekeeping. We werent offered even a penny off of our stay. She went out of her way to harass myself and my mother during our stay. She was rude and annoying regarding a parking pass issue. I almost didnt leave a review because I really dont want to give this place a negative review. I have some very nice memories here and its a sweet little spot near the beach. I have been patient through the years that they continue to use the excuse Were under renovation. But I dont think I can accept that any longer. The room design and layout are severely outdated. Often times there are burnt out light bulbs, the remote for the tv either doesnt work or is intermittent (not much of a problem since were out most of the time and dont mind using the on T.V. controls). The views outside can be nice from the room but in starting to think the fabled ocean view doesnt not exist. Actually, in my last room the view was quite terrible. Dying grass, rod iron vexing that looks like some creature has eaten and chewed at the bottom of it. Chain link fence for an outdated basketball court. Several cob webs just outside our room and what appears to be a spiders nest (and yes, we found a spider in our room). I think a little more care for the maintenance of this place could go a long way.

Room was clean and had everything you could possibly need for cooking during your stay and also to enjoy mixed and blended drinks.Toaster, blender, coffee machine, utensils, plates, bowls, pots and pans etc.Also there are so many activities to enjoy on the property. Location is wonderful, resort things to do pretty good, rooms not real great, but you are at the beach, so expect some differences. First night,, main tv quit working. One in bedroom extremely small and not meant for mainstream. Maintenance guy on Sunday evening tried to fix, but seemed to be in the screen itself, not the labeling, so nothing to do. Next day, after we ask about it, they check it further. We went on about our day and upon returning early evening, found a small unit playing. While hard to read print on this smaller screen, better than nothing. When went to turn off found out why it was left on. The on off on the remote doesnt work, had to figure out where the manual switch was. Have not addressed this with the facility yet, but will be interesting.

Best hotel in San Clemente! The rooms are giant! There have been multiple times where a suite has slept 6 adults comfortably (private bedroom, 2 pull down beds, and a fold out couch). You get such a great value there because besides that you also have a 7 hole mini golf course, 2 full sized shuffleboard tables, pool tables, fooseball, air hockey, ping pong, and tons of board games and movies that you get to check out throughout the day. Also public bbq areas and lots of grass and some picnic tables. My family has had many family reunions and I also just had my wedding here. Eat at Adeles, if you are lucky and get to talk to her you will never want to leave. She is super nice and very accommodating to allergies and will basically cook you anything she has ingredients for. If you stay here I highly doubt you will regret it.

Maid service is hard to come by. We had two suites for a week and all we could get was clean towels and toilet paper. Bathrooms were moldy and general cleaning not good at all. We all left with major sinus infections. The kids did like having the miniature golf course, tennis courts, and pool. It was sad to see how shoddy the upgrades were handled..no seal around showers so water just poured out of the shower kind of shoddy. I hope management addresses the cleanliness of the rooms because the kids like staying here.

I have been coming to the Inn for 20 years. It is by no means fancy, but there is a lot to do. The rooms are spacious and many have an ocean view. It is great for families- they have board games and movies to rent, tennis, shuffleboard, minigolf, and a sport court. It is also a short walk to the beach.

I stayed there and was charged extra cleaning fees even though we had already paid for cleaning fees. They said it was excessive and there was not anything excessive about this. Not only that, they wont allow children that are in the diaper age to swim in the pool-- regardless of whether or not you have a swim diaper. This is not a kid friendly resort. Update on 2nd Visit: At first the guys that were rude on our first visit were nice and the staff was helpful as usual. However, in the middle of the week we found ants everywhere. My wife went to the front desk to let them know and there were multiple people complaining of the same thing. No apology or courtesy from the lady at the front desk at all, just a rude We will have someone take a look. Do you want me to tell my manager? A very nice maintenance person came and sprayed the room within the hour and we never saw ants again. The same guy even came the next day to ask if we saw more ants, so he was on top of things.The reason for the one star change (we gave them a 4 before) is because of what happened throughout the week and at the end. My son had a rash all over his face and arms so we assumed it was a reaction to their detergent on their sheets and knew it would go away, so we didnt mention anything. My wife complained to me about being very itchy the first few nights. At first we thought nothing of it, but then we found bites all over her arms and legs. We thought it was the ants mentioned above, so when they sprayed we thought it would go away and things were fine. On our last night there she woke up with more bites on her feet and legs, and I had bites on my shoulders and arms. We left a day early and at 3:00 AM to drive home before traffic so we didnt talk to anyone at the desk, we waited until a more decent time. When we did call at 11:00 AM my wife let the guy at the front desk know we checked out early and said they might want to check for bed bugs because we had bites all over. She was very nice, did not accuse anyone, just mentioned it because we didnt want others to go through the same thing. No apology, just, Ill go ahead and tell my manager.Two minutes later a guy called saying he is the assistant manager and said, Well we checked the room with dogs before you were there and didnt find anything. So.... and left the sentence at that. I told him we had bites all over and that something was in there that they needed to check again. He asked, Did you see anything? What do the bites look like? Are you sure they are bed bugs or is this just from your own research? What exact days did you notice the bites? After I answered his questions he added, If you really want we can put a work order in your name and call you back with the results, but we didnt find anything before, so.... I finally said, Yes we want you guys to check because we do have bites all over us. My wife was getting very upset with him and was saying how he needed to apologize and have some customer service (he was on speaker phone as I was driving home still). He never apologized, only was very defensive and doubting about the whole thing. So I attached the pictures of my shoulder and arm as a few examples of what we had all over. We never said they were definitely bed bugs, we just suggested they look for them because we had bites all over us.The management is very rude and doesnt know how to speak with people or handle problems. We never heard an apology for anything that was going wrong, and whenever we mentioned anything (I wouldnt even say complain, we were very nice about everything that was going wrong) they were defensive and rude. Maintenance and the cleaning staff are very nice and helpful. But if you want to get eaten alive and be treated like dirt by those that are supposed to help, feel free to stay there. If not, I highly recommend going somewhere else.1st Visit: The guys at the front desk were pretty rude, but the women were very friendly. The cleaning staff was very friendly and courteous whenever they saw us passing by. Id stay here again (read second review, never will I stay there again).

We had only booked one night but after seeing what it had we immediately booked another 3 (they matched the expedia price for the first night) and stayed there instead of moving on. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere but here. This property is part of a timeshare network (VRI.) It’s not an “inn” or a “hotel.” They already have timeshare folks money, so they don’t have to impress them. They aren’t there to impress anyone. We stayed for 5 nights. On the last morning the cleaning person opened the door at about 8:45 demanding we get going. I told her we were getting ready. She heavily sighed and proceeded to stand outside the rooms glaring at us for the next hour and 15 minutes. Check out is 10am. A 10am check out is already ridiculous. 8:45 is insane. We had 3 rooms. We had vacated one of the rooms by 9:15 and we told her. She rolled her eyes and still stood outside “mad dogging” us. They didn’t clean any of the rooms once during our stay. Towel exchanges was the extent of their housekeeping. At $205 per night/room you would think you would get a little service.The service we did get was in the form of a $75 per room cleaning fee. Over $3k for a 5 night stay wasn’t enough $$$$ for them. Remember they never cleaned the rooms during our stay. When we called to find out why there was an extra charge on our card. The manager proceeded to scream at us. When it was explained that no one cleaned our rooms during the stay we were yelled at, “we don’t do that!” She told us they don’t care about repeat customers. Lesson learned. Avoid all properties managed by VRI and stick to branded hotel chains.

Very good quality suites. A modern build and good staff made my stay an enjoyable one. Close to the beach with good amenities, yet the curb appeal was not so great. Overall, however, it was a great part of my vacation!

I stay at the San Clemente Inn at least once a year. Their room options are great, location is good, amenities are good. No real complaints. It is a bit old as far as the look of it goes, so thats why I wouldnt give it 5 stars.

At exactly 10:30am of the day my family and I are supposed to check out(January of this year), up comes this guy banging on the door telling us that we have to leave immediately. We had to scramble everything and literally make a dash for it. Ive stayed at numerous places worldwide and this has NEVER happened to me before. They always give you the flexibility to check out comfortably. I will definitely not be staying here again!

The hotel room was exactly what we expected. We had 5 people sleep in the room comfortably, and were able to make breakfast in the kitchen with the provided utensils and stovetop. There are plenty of activities available and its perfect for family vacations.

Front desk isn’t cooperative, front desk doesn’t like children/young adults, Front desk are old strict haggs that catered to white folks, everything here is 18 and over so if your looking for a fun hotel for your children don’t come here. Also it’s a two story hotel without a elevator so not immobilize friendly.

Great place to stay if you love rules. They seem to have rules for everything, down to fees youll have to pay if a mug goes missing or you misplace a room keycard. Rooms arent quite as nice as the lobby makes the place look.

This is a cute hotel. We were on a road trip from NorCal to San Diego. Pulled an all-nighter for the drive. Found this place using Google Maps. Called and booked a suite that sleeps 6 for $225. There were only 4 of us so we enjoyed having the space to spread out. The room features 1.5 bathrooms, a bedroom with a queen sized bed in it. There were 2 beds that folded out from the walls in the dining area plus a sofa bed near the modeat-sized TV. Brown-out curtains kept the room a nice hue so we could snooze longer. A ceiling-to-floor curtain could be drawn to divide the sofa bed/TV watcher(s) from the dining table and wall pullout bed users. Opening up the cabinets and drawers was like Christmas or a treasure hunt as we unearthed all kinds of goodies. The kitchenette with a teensy stove, frig with freezer, and teensy dishwasher were complemented by pottery, dishes, cutlery, toaster and coffee pot. We loved our stay and would gladly return... for a longer period of time!Note: Checkout time is 10 a.m. but if you ask nicely, they will extend it to 11 😁

We reserved this hotel through RCI and due to the current situation with COVID we called them multiple times to confirm our stay there. The receptionist told us that everything great and they are waiting for us. The week before our trip the RCI called us and said that our hotel is canceled because of the covid and we have to confirm with hotel. We called the hotel and they said they are still waiting for us and everything is good. The day before, in the morning, before we could cancel our flight we called and confirmed one more time. And they seemed so kind and still were saying that they are waiting for us. In the afternoon, they called and said that the reservation is now canceled. WHAT????!!!You are telling us the lie that you are waiting for us the whole month or more ???!!!And now, less that 12 hours before our flight you are saying that you can’t accept us?????!!! We were so disappointed with the management and manager Lisa and employees which don’t really know the rules of hotel etc.Do not recommend you this hotel and deal with the management!!!!We were supposed to come with the baby and had the whole day of stress because of this hotel.

We booked several rooms for our daughters wedding months in advance. The hotel first represented that they had annex rooms by downtown area, they lied. Then, the morning after the wedding the hotel staff stole several large and VERY expensive flower arrangements and pieced these out among the room maids.The event was aweful. It was like being in a third world country, only worse. Management would do nothing even when they saw their maids walking around with our flowers.Better to stay at the Y than this place. would have given it a minus 1 if possible.

Cool place, the rec area and pool are good. The pool is a little small so it can get quite crowded easily but it definitely will cool you off in the summer, and if its too crowded the beach is just a few minutes walk. Nice place
