I found San Bruno Smile after an extensive search of dentists that my insurance covered. It was a very lengthy process but in return for my time and effort I found this outstanding dental office. The staff are efficient and friendly. Miriam, the office manager is so wonderful to work with and the dentists are excellent. I highly recommend San Bruno Smile.

I had a very sensitive tooth which felt a bit loose. The San Bruno Smile office was able to get me in the next work day and Dr. Wu was able to determine we needed to remove the crown on my tooth to see what the next step would be. He took the time needed to determine that my current crown had become loose - not the root part and he was able to take impressions to have a new crown made. Dr. Wu was very detailed as he explained his plan for my tooth to me so I fully understood. The cost for this procedure was carefully explained to me and I was able to ask questions about the dental coverage I have and what % was my responsibility!

I made an appointment for my mom to see Dr. Wu and weve been so happy to have found such a caring dental clinic. Dr. Wu listened to my mothers concerns, thoroughly answered all of her questions, and made her cleanings/treatments as comfortable as possible. Having a Cantonese-speaking provider explain her options has given my mom more confidence in her dental care. Miriam, and the rest of the staff, have also made each visit a pleasant experience. I cannot recommend them enough!

I have only been to a few dentist offices through out my life but I can assure you that San Bruno Smile has been by far the best dentist office I have ever been taken care of. They are very professional, the front desk has great customer service and each and every single member will exceed expectations. The environment over all its very welcoming and super clean. I will highly recommend this place if you dont have a dentist yet and if you do consider transferring over. You wont regret it.

San Bruno Smile is good, but not great. When seated in the dental chair, you face a wall and cannot see anyone in the room. The dental assistants and dentist are situated behind your head when you’re reclined and they come in wearing their dental masks so there is no personal interaction of any kind. I honestly could not identify anyone who served me if I saw them in the hallway immediately after my cleaning.With just a few steps, they can improve significantly. My advice to them: 1) Enter the room without your mask on and formally great the patient eye to eye. 2) State briefly what you are going to do—it may be obvious to you but not to the patient. 3) If you find anything requiring additional work, clearly explain what you see and give a level of severity. 4) Add a mirror where the ceiling and wall meet to give the patient a sense of what is happening in the room behind them.Simple steps like these would make the experience much better.

Started giving me a clean I didn’t ask for the “hygienist was rushing around doing random spots in my teeth poking and prodding super rough. It felt like she had no idea what she was doing. The dentist came in and insisted I had gum disease when I’ve been to 3 dentist and specialist over the last 3 years never heard that. I came for a crown on my chipped upper tooth. Which they only kind of focused on. At the end some woman took me in some back room to tell me the crown is covered by my insurance but I’d need to pay an additional $778 dollars out of pocket which i never heard. I have a crown I paid for out of pocket for $1100 this doesn’t make sense. A scam place and a complete waste of time and gas money. I plan to report this place for doing work in my mouth I didn’t ask or consent to.

The staff were very friendly especially Rosie. The hygienist, Sandy was very thorough. I would given 5 stars ...its just the appointment scheduling at 2pm had me waiting outside till their lunch break was over...maybe schedule at 2:15 instead.

Hello, I had a mostly great first meeting at San Bruno Smile. Came in the afternoon, there was a rush but, the main dentist was knowledgeable and worked really quickly. Asking questions and caring for me even though I heard he was backed up.The only thing I had a problem with was the assistant that polished and flossed my teeth. It seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing, didn’t polish all my teeth, ran the tool into my teeth rather than the polishing head. Flossed straight into my gums, and to rinse she didn’t rinse my teeth, but just sprayed my tongue with water, splattering the water onto my face. I just want the assistants to be trained well to a certain standard before working on patients.

Waiting 34 minutes to be seen. This is fine but the team wasn’t sure where any of the equipment was. Also there were interns watching and no one informed me. I would have like to been informed that there were 5-people in the room. It’s because there is always so many different dentists there.

THEY ARE SCAMMERS. BEWARE.I have medi-cal. was in need of multiple crowns. was told that my dental insurance only covered HALF of what the crown costs for the material they elect to use which was zirconium. and total is supposed to be $1500/crown so I had to pay 750$ OUT OF POCKET. they told me this was determined by my insurance plan, and that anywhere I went, this was gonna be the cost.come to find out through being referred to an endodontist by HPSM, (later realized that San Bruno Smiles elected not to refer me directly to this specialist because they knew this endodontist was telling customers of the scams they were pulling) that what I was being charged with WAS NOT THE COST OF THE CROWN. (the $750 I had to pay out of pocket), that a crown needed after a root canal, including ALL procedures that come with it, was ONE HUNDRED PERCENT COVERED BY MEDI-CAL. (after calling medi-cal. this was confirmed, as with all crowns needed, even if root canal is not needed)but what they charged me for, was a procedure called crown lengthening. an unnecessary procedure that you cannot even vet if they did on you. and guess what? its one of the ONLY procedures that Medi-cal does not insure unless you went to an endodontist instead of a regular dental office. this was NEVER mentioned at all during any of my appointments at San Bruno Smiles. to reiterate, they said this to me over and over again, youre paying half of the crown because thats what your insurance plan covers.I confronted San Bruno Smiles about what I was actually being charged with and they told me that we already explained this to you mam. and what made it worst was when I asked for a receipt and it said gingevectomy. and the receptionist had a smirk on her face as she printed it out for me.I pulled my original invoice and all it said was crown procedure. so two different invoices, worded differently, but the first one gave me the impression that it was for the materials of the crown that was only half covered by insurance because this was what they told me MULTIPLE TIMES in person.both had my signature on it, so apparently I agreed to it without knowing I was technically being charged for a procedure that I didnt need and was never informed of.they insisted a crown lengthening procedure NEEDED to be done. so it was either pay $750 or too bad. they said THEY WILL NOT do a crown for me unless I do a crown lengthening procedure with them as well. (refused to refer me to an endo to have it all covered) and still the lady in front with the fake eyelashes and the mole on her lip, smirked at me as she said this, knowing I needed a crown done asap.im writing this because I got scammed and it might be too late for me (currently looking into options with filing claims) but I wanted to write this in case you were told this by the dental office.KNOW what it is that your insurance covers because being told what youre covered and have to pay out of pocket may not be the truth!!theyre telling you to pay HUNDREDS of dollars for out of pocket costs that are not needed, which is illegal, not to mention unethical. and when I tried to meet them halfway, asking if they were willing to refer me for a crown lengthening procedure elsewhere so that I didnt have to pay so much money, they refused. they are NOT for the people like they claim. they only want the money for themselves. and they are scamming low income people at that. SHAME ON THEM.i found a new dental office and guess what my bill is for the crowns with the SAME materials and procedures?ZERO DOLLARS. (and what is that I dont need? crown lengthening.)the kicker is that almost everyone who goes here has medi-cal.just beware of when they tell you of out-of-pocket costs. confirm this with your insurance provider, dont just pay because youre in the moment. if they give you attitude right then and there, just go elsewhere.if youve ever heard of anything along the same lines, paid the same $750 as I did (thousands since it was three crowns), unfortunately we got scammed.

I made an appointment in December which seem to be the first appointment. After a month wait I get a phone call to change to the end of January, which is a joke! Horrible over the phone service, mocked me while I was hanging up. I do not recommend this dentist office. Not enough dentist to serve the customers, months of waiting just to see a dentist. Staff are rude. I will never return to this dentist ever and I recommend no one else as well. They do not care about the customers at all.

BEWARE! They’re here for profit, not for your well-being! I was told by the dentist here that all my old fillings were not in good condition and should all be redone. I was suspicious so I only let them redo one. Since then I’ve been to TWO other dentists and both of them said my fillings are FINE! Also if you have any records with them don’t ever think of retrieving them or transferring them to another dentist that needs them. They’ll never respond and will charge you and arm and a leg. Don’t trust them.

First time visit for my regular dental cleaning and initially found the overall experience was acceptable and the service provided was rather efficient. Quite a few oral x-ray was taken I supposed was due to being a new patient although the attending dentist didnt go over the oral x-ray as a general observation. He suggested to me to consider doing a deep-cleaning as well as filling to an existing crown work done at a different dentist office. However, a week later now I have yet given a call back from the reception desk with a quote on the recommended dental work when the receptionist indicated to me she would call me the same day after my visit. I even followed up with another call to the dental office indicating I had not received any information from their office and the receptionist answered the call said she would call as well as email me the dental work quote the same day and two more days have now lapsed and I yet gotten a call back. Not sure whats going on and certainly didnt give me a whole lot of confidence of their patient care service from this clinic. May need to search for another dental clinic to better suit my needs.

I was 10 min early, 3 people came in after me and the 3rd person went before me. All of them had the same appt time as me. I was rushed in to a room and had x-rays taken within min. Then I was told to wait for the dentist, for 45 min. I got up and left. Even if I had waited, my appt was close to closing, which meant I would have been rushed through the cleaning. For some reason, they make you wait for the dentist before cleaning, it would have been done if they did it first. I have never had an exam before cleaning, every dentist wants to look at clean teeth to make an accurate examination. From former reviews, maybe he wants to see dirty teeth to put pressure on for unnecessary work. They were high pressure last time I was there too, but the cleaning was first. Highly suspicious.Lastly, I was basically harassed prior to my visit. In less than a week, I received 6 phone calls, 5 texts and 2 emails, all for confirmation. I usually don’t confirm until about 2 days before, because my schedule can get a little wonky, and don’t tell me you REALLY need to know for sure if I’m coming, because obviously you’re overbooked anyway!This is a real sticking point for me, as I’ve actually had a different dentist do the same thing and the second the 48 hour mark passed, they cancelled my appt and said it was my fault!!!Sorry San Bruno, no smiles here! Just anger and frustration!!

I had an appointment at 2pm on Thursday. The office was clean, I appreciated the process (sending forms online, waiting in the car until it was my turn). My dentist assistant was amazing! I forgot her name, but she was so helpful, patient, and sweet. My dentist was very straightforward and came up with a great/simple care plan. I did wait a long time for my dentist, but i was sitting in my chair. My appointment took a while, 1.5 hours for teeth cleaning/check up, but they were just super busy, which is understandable at any doctors office.

I had the unfortunate experience to be assigned to Dr. We. A man with a big ego and bad attitude, who thinks chastising patients is a good practice.Avoid this practice if you want to get good care. They are the worse.

My experience here so far has been great! The facility is clean. The staff and dentists are nice, accommodating, and professional. I really appreciate how thorough the dentist was in explaining the condition of my oral health and what I need to get done. I also appreciate the staff who sat down with me and went through which procedures are covered by my insurance and which aren’t; and was forthcoming with what my out of pocket cost would be. I also really like how I wasn’t pressured into anything and that I’m given the freedom and time to decide my next steps. Overall, my first couple of visits here have been great and enjoyable!

It was my first time at this dentist office. It was a very bright and clean place. Extremely nice staff and efficient and friendly process. It’s a very busy office, so there is some waiting time. But I had one tech for the X-rays, a dental hygienist for the cleaning and a different hygienist for the polishing. Then Dr Tai came in to talk to me about my X-rays and what I would need to do for the future. I have one tooth that needs attention right now, to redo the filling and one that will be on a watch and see. I appreciated that he didn’t try to “oversell” me or make me worry about my whole mouth. It’s a very nice practice and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to someone else.

My experience here was nothing short of disappointment. This place is a quiet echo of what it used to be unfortunately. My visit today was set at a specific time, text message confirmation, and check-in paperwork was done prior online. Still, I was brought back only to wait 1hr. Why? The dentist even had the audacity to attempt persuasion on hurrying me through a cleaning session. REDFLAG safety concerns! Analogous to airline travel feeling more like Bart, San Bruno Smile has became a disorganized, sub-par generic walmart brand service with filthy restrooms. Fortunately, for us though, we live in a free market capital. A simple dial to DHMO coverage and was swapped within the snap of a finger. San Bruno deserves better than this! Youre rolling the dice everytime you walk through this places front door..

I went for a cleaning and a consultation. It was busy when I got there. Waited about 45 min to be called. Im not sure why they take so long. The staff is friendly though, but the dentist after he was done doing my cleaning he left without saying anything. I had mentioned him before that some of my wisdom teeth are coming out and that sometimes it hurts when I eat. He never addressed my concern. I had to ask his assistant about it and she went to ask him about it. She told me he had said to just wait till my next cleaning (6month from now) to see how everything goes. Basically I have to wait till it hurts more I guess.I will be looking for a second opinion.

This place is great and everyone is very nice. The dentists themselves are always very professional and very friendly. They will actually talk to you unlike other places I’ve gone to. I personally like environments like that. The physical place itself is very small but they make it work. Especially during covid there’s not many people who come in and out so you don’t feel crammed. It’s very easy to book appointments and reschedule them. They use a texting system to check in and review after. I haven’t had a bad experience here.

Please, dont go here. They messed up my filling and I told them to fix it but they said there was nothing wrong. I told them about another filling causing me pain on the left side anytime Id eat something hard, again they didnt do anything. I got a root canal there too and after a couple years its aching when it shouldnt be. Theyll also try to keep you coming for unnecessary check ups to see if theres any other unnecessary fillings they could give to you. money grab, gaslighting, totally unprofessional. Please avoid at all costs. finally, I never write reviews on google, & I let things slide usually but this is unacceptable.

Yes, I was dreading to go.Its been 2 years since I had my teeth cleaned.My prior dentist was closed forever. Then I called my insurance thinking I could change my existing dentist. Things have changed everywhere.And it did. Lord 🙏 I was thankful. I was bleeding with inflammation. I had headaches, ringing in the ears. I came in a BIG mess. Ladies were very sensitive with me.DDS Sing was great and kept saying Im sorry till the end.And this was just a cleaning! Omg! I felt way better hearing her voice. I felt real sore but it was my fault for waiting too long. Never will I jeopardize myself like this again..its been 4 days now. Next will be my deep cleaning. San Bruno was referred to me by my insurance carrier and i am so glad they did. They were very clean and efficient, I was seen right on time with my appointment. They did xrays of all my teeth and did a detailed assessment of all my previous dental work that includes, a bridge, root canal, implant and various fillings. They explained the condition and necc work that is required then did a thorough cleaning all in less that an hour. I was extremely impressed with the complete experience and would highly recommend them.

I had a 9 am appointment and got there 5 min early. X-rays we’re done at about 9:50. Polishing started at 10am. Cleaning started at about 10:15. By 11am I still hadn’t seen a dentist. And was kept being told he’ll come soon. I walked out. These guys are pretty disorganized.

Very nice people and skillful workers. My teeth were cleaned really well and even my removable false tooth was cleaned. No cavities were found. But in the past a cavity was found under a previously filled cavity. Dr. Avendano suggested a root canal but I asked him to fill the cavity instead. He did it and I have had no trouble with it. Its been about 3 years. That is skill. thank you.

When I needed to switch dental care due to loss of coverage and previous disappointment with other providers Dr. Avendano was just a name I choose from google search, and, of course I was very leary,. Once I stepped into his office and met the front desk staff I Immediately sensed a positivity in the care I was about to received. The staff radiated warmth and upon meeting Dr. Avendano the first time I noticed a graciousness, humbleness and a special “morality” in his demeanor. I have worked 30 years as a professional health care provider myself and I can sense sincerity and good ethics. Dr Avendano has both and his working staff reflects this with incredible teamwork and support. I have been with him for 5 years+ and cannot commend him anymore with his technical skills, patience and determination to provide excellent results. I have to admit that at as an older patient my dental needs are quite challenging and Dr..Avendano has proven to be a warrior who has manage to overcome any challenge to a point of complete satisfaction. I have seen his volume of patients grow….without a doubt the reason behind this is obvious.

Avoid this place if you dont want to be OVER CHARGED! They force you to upgrade the service only because they have special deals with certain company. I went there for root canal. Instead of using the regular crown as other dentists would do, they charged me for an advanced crown that is, according to them, mandatory for my tooth. I asked if I chose the advanced crown, which is more than 2X more expensive than regular crown, do I still need to pay for the regular crown? They said yes because the advanced crown is only the upgrade. So basically instead of $300 copay for the regular crown, Ill need to pay $1500 out-of-pocket for my advanced crown. When I asked if there is any way I only pay for the advanced crown, the receptionist rudely told me go to other offices. They are only here for moneys. Do NOT go to this place if you dont want to be robbed.

I requested for them to send my new dentist my past x-rays that I paid for which would simply be a pdf file and quick send but they are charging me $45 for an administration fee?!?!? Are you serious??? How cheap can this place be??? I paid for my x-rays and they cant even email me? Instead they offered to make copies for free but I had to drive out of my way from San Francisco to San Bruno to only pick up poorly printed x-rays.DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCAMMED.

Dr Avendano is great- I recently had a root canal and did not feel a thing! Dr Avendano really shows he cares about his work and the comfort of his patients. Great staff and very welcoming when you walk in- especially Ms. Sandra, she’s super friendly and organized. I really appreciate them because they (if available) give you the best options to a tooth problem and really talk to you about the pros and cons in detail before a procedure. Im so glad I did! Ever since I had my dental insurance disappear after losing my job and then having medi-cal, I did not know that they offer dental insurance until my dr mentioned something. So I called and got assigned to Dr. Avendano. Having zero clue how my insurance works or what the procedures were I went to my appointment not sure of what to expect. My expectations were high and Dr. Avendano and his staff far exceeded them. They were all very friendly and helpful. They explained every step. Even what they were going to do next. I highly recommend going to them. I had such a great experience that I’ve been telling everyone I see about there practice.

I made an appointment because my gums are bleeding so badly. My mouth is in major pain. The doctor who saw me was named Pedro Avendano - my first impression of him was that he was arguing in Spanish to another staff member right in front of me. It was awkward for me because they were standing right in front of me, I had to walk around them to go to the room. Anyway, this first experience was awkward and uncomfortable.The place is nice, and clean, with big windows and as I sat there and waited all I could her was spanish all around me. Everyone is speaking spanish like we are not in America or something.Anyway the dentist they sent to me HARDLY speaks english. I mean he struggled to find the words to describe basic dentist vernacular to me. I told him that my gums were in pain and bleeding and that when I did some research on Google it said to gargle with hydrogen peroxide . He says, That no clean I assume what he was meaning to say is that hydrogen peroxide doesnt clean your mouth out. I know that. He didnt address my gums at all, instead he told me I need to brush my gums and floss, etc same shpieal that all dentists say but instead he was saying it in broken English.I was so upset and irritated at how they were treating me, he didnt treat me like a patient he just treated me like a number get her in and get her out He was talking to the dentist assistant in Spanish and I dont know if he was talking about me or not but I found it very uncomfortable and unprofessional that Im totally unaware of what he saying as he is working on my mouth. Who knows maybe he was making comments about how gross my gums were? I told him that I probably needed antibiotics - I swear to God he completely didnt respond to me, he acted like he didnt hear me and even when I repeated myself he didnt answer so at that point I just stopped talking to him and he cleaned my teeth, quickly and that was it.I have to make another appointment with another dentist in Millbrae and hopefully they will speak English and listen to me when I tell them why I am there

I arrived for an Evaluation and they told me I needed three fillings. They did them to me and one was wrong, they left me in a lot of pain. I went and they adjusted it but the pain is still the same. I visited them again to see what solution they gave me and they sent me with a referral to another clinic. Now I have to pay more to another dentist when I felt good and had no problems with pain or inflammation. Friends who advise me what I can do in such a situation.
