San Bruno Pet Hospital has been the vet I have always gone to, even in my childhood when I had my first dog.Now as an adult and taking Honey, I have never had a bad experience at this vet clinic. Every vet he has been seen by has been so sweet and caring to my chihuahua.Recently, I have been working with Erica Chiu and she has been so amazing. Both times I have seen her, have been after Honey had something wrong with him and I had taken him to another vet beforehand. She cleared all my worries from the other two places and even noticed a misdiagnosis from another vet clinic I had spoken to.I cannot thank San Bruno Pet Hospital enough for their care with my pet and myself as a pet parent. I feel understood and heard with all my concerns.It is a bit pricey but I prefer to pay a little more if it means my pet is truly cared for and not a cash grab.

Dr. Chiu is the GOAT when it comes to Veterinarians in the Peninsula. She is very proactive not reactive when it comes to assessing our dogs health. The facility is very clean, great parking, organized and friendly staff.

Dismissive of concerns, overlooked obvious problems, put my dogs life at risk. I brought my dog in multiple times with issues of back pain, excessive urination and panting. I was told a number of benign silly reasons for the symptoms. I had told Dr Dewar that my dog was waking up in the middle of night panting and I was worried he was in pain, and she tells me its probably nightmares. Hes peeing in the house, hes yelping when he jumps out of the car. She dismisses these concerns, citing old age and even says, oh its great hes just peeing so much in one place, it means he feels comfortable and doesnt need to mark. His liver enzymes were high, but I was told not to worry about it, and the dog was put on a low dose of meds. A few weeks later, Im in the ER with my dog because hes in so much pain, and we find out that he a GIANT, life-threatening liver tumor that has been growing for months. Its too large to be surgical because we didnt catch it early enough. A hellish, heartbreaking year that could have been avoided if I had found a vet who was paying attention to my concerns sooner.

Its hard to find a veterinary office in a major metro area that will treat your pup like part of the pack. The hospitals in San Francisco are just overcrowded, and you never see the same doctor twice. In 2017, we started making the short drive to San Bruno Pet Hospital and found Dr. Erica Chiu. Our American Staff mix, Nubs, adores her. Dr. Chiu is super friendly with him and always manages to calm me down when Im in dog-mom panic mode, whether were battling the latest bout of canine influenza or preparing to fly with him. The office usually runs on time and has tons of parking. The staff knows that Nubs doesnt do well in the waiting room, so they take us to a room immediately. Highly recommend!

I brought my dog in for an appointment as he was being abnormally picky with his food. A vet at san bruno pet hospital suggested new food, topical fortiflora probiotics and sticking with the new diet to allow my dog time to adjust. I told the vet after a few days that he still was not eating. She insisted to continue doing sticking with the diet. I continued to listen to her. This went on for 3 weeks. By then my dog lost many pounds and I continued to rely on her advice. She was very confident that this was a picky eating problem. 3 weeks from that appointment I found out that my dog had cancer in his small intestines. If my vet was more proactive in his issues, we could have identified his cancer sooner and we could have had a better chance at saving his life. We had to put him to sleep shortly after that. My vet was very passive in his issues and he was incorrectly diagnosed. She should have been more aggressive in identifying the issues after I repeatedly told her that he was not improving. Much time was wasted and her email responses were slow and it was hard to reach her when I really needed advice. I suggest getting multiple opinions from other vets or finding a better pet hospital.

Weve been coming here for a few months in early 2022 with our new puppy. The whole place is so well organized and staffed by wonderful people. Everyone has been so sweet to me and my partner and especially to our pup. Im looking forward to bringing my cats here soon, too.In mid April theyve started allowing owners into the exam room which has been really helpful. Id understand if they have to close again but its clear theyre watching the pandemic and local ordinances very closely.The text message based scheduling and payment systems have been really easy to understand and use. We get quick responses to our questions and scheduling requests. The website for this vet was very helpful. All in all weve been very happy with the experience and our puppy is happy and healthy for it.

I had to take my mother-in-laws cat here. This is where shes been taking all her pets for the past 35 years. And I can see why. Such great staff and vets. They welcomed every pet in with such great energy and genuine lovingness. The doctor was very communicative and listened and explained the process.

Every vet and staff member weve seen here with our three cats has been kind and communicative and very obviously loves animals.I feel like they listen to me when I tell them what Ive noticed at home, and make recommendations with my cats wellness in mind. This review is way overdue, but Dr. Chiu and the staff at San Bruno Pet hospital deserve more than 5 stars. We have been bringing our senior cat to San Bruno since 2017, and the reason we brought him there was because his previous owner had taken him there. The staff have always been friendly and helpful through all these years. Especially towards the end, when my cat had a lot of health issues/emergencies, they were able to fit him in urgently on multiple occassions. Even when I couldnt bring the cat in, I would receive advice from Dr. Chiu and the staff via the phone and email. And when it came for the painful time to say goodbye to our beloved cat, Dr. Chiu was empathetic and helped me find at home enthunasia in my time of distress as I was crying on the phone.It was clear that our cat was very, very well taken care of at San Bruno Pet Hospital because he lived a long and full life, making it just a month shy of 21 years. As I was mourning him, I reviewed his 100+ pages of medical records that were meticulously kept by San Bruno Pet Hospital - going as far back as 2003 when the place was White Ivie! I cant imagine a place that could have take better care of a pet. I dont understand the negative reviews at all based off of one bad experience; I literally have documented proof of 20 years of excellent care.Thank you San Bruno Pet Hospital staff, for caring for my family member. One day when Im ready to adopt again, Ill be happy to bring my new pet here again.

Have been using these vets for over 40 years now. Highest quality vets & techs & all services. Might be a bit pricey but worth every penny for the outstanding services. My dogs survived longer & better than most because of these vets. Very high quality services!

I have been going to SBPH for over 3 years now and have been extremely pleased with the care for my two dogs. They are very accommodating for visits, and have been really amazing with my dog who has some behavioral issues/fears of the vet. I always find pricing reasonable/standard and have had great experiences with numerous vets, and techs at the office. Highly recommend for your furry friend!

I was going to another pet hospital for the longest time and decided to give San Bruno Pet Hospital a try. Im really glad I did because I had a great experience with Dr. Gonzalez. She was patient and took a consultative approach to my cats concern, which I really appreciated. From day of scheduling appointment, phone interactions Ive had with front desk, to the day of check in, my whole experience was very positive. Our rabbit has an issues of uneven front teeth. When we made the appointment we clearly stated this problem and would like to have further diagnosis as we already had the radiographies by the time. When we showed up, Dr. Lawrence was unable to provide further examination to our rabbit but just did normal vitals like weighting and stuffs. I am very upset because they are are unable to provide more information when we stated our problem and goal, but they still arranged the visit. We were charged $100 with NONE useful information. With that being said, if you want to take your rabbits to do some basic checks, they might be able to. BUT anything more than that, stay away from this hospital and find some others that are more capable.

Theres a reason why people review the prices here.Ive been going here for 2+ years and LOVE the Doctors and tech staff. They are phenomenal and so communicative. Ive told myself for 2 years the price is worth it because I am getting great care.However - at the latest visit, I bought a bottle of antiseptic shampoo ($41) - only to find it online for $18. I called to see if I accidentally got double charged and they said NOPE thats the cost. I was told they mark up slightly but it costs them more to procure it.I understand they might get it from distributors at a higher price, but maybe thats an indicator its time to look into your own costs and sourcing before passing it along to patients. I was more frustrated with the lack of customer service than I was the $20 price difference.Anyways - my trust took a hit. I want vets to be payed fair prices (especially in our part of the world!) but come on.. a 100% cost overcharge on a product is not okay, regardless of the reasons why. And being unwilling to work with patients on this stuff is very tough to stomach - especially given the amount of money Ive spent here in the last 2 years.

This place is way too expensive and when we were ten minutes late to the appointment they made us reschedule for the following week even though we said we were on our way and that we really needed our puppy to have her final shots that day. Ten minutes!! Our other appointments we had been early and had to wait for them! They have technicians doing the shots as well - not the Vet. We switched our dogs care to Banfield which my other dog is on. They have a puppy plan and you save way more money as well as a grooming salon all right on site. Open all different hours which is quite convenient. They may not be as personable but I don’t go to the Vet to get my social needs met.

Were so grateful to have San Bruno Pet Hospital in our lives! Its always like coming home to extended family that we trust. Our rescue guy, Dukito, age 6-1/2, has had more than his share of complications. Our unification happened 2 years ago. Its been full of health surprises. Hes been hospitalized for devouring sand, had leg/foot reconstruction from benign aggressive tumors. Hes been stitched when the birds he was chasing bit off part of his ear. Hes remains eager, super active, and happy. As a result, we need close watch on him from a total health perspective. Dr. Jennifer Lawrence and her caring, skilled team provide this. Theyve helped keep Dukitos life healthy amid these trips to Sage ER. Dr. Lawrence provides valuable consult which is also educational; both important to me and my partner. Ive never had a dogkid, who wags his tail and talks excitedly just pulling into the hospitals parking lot. We can feel confident that the treatment plans are made after a lot of listening....no, rather, really being heard for each animals individuality. Plus, any records from other places of ancillary treatment (ER, Derm, etc) are reviewed with attention. Its clear Dr. Lawrence and her staff care and walk the talk of high skill and high commitment. Were so appreciative!

Extreme unresponsive and rude crew including front desk and doctors, very pricy and do NOT treat your pet or your time seriously!!I went to this place twice with my puppy, the first time a doctor said she only do ‘phone’ screening and I had to speak with her over phone (this is may2022 and all covid restriction is already lifted). I was shocked how she could ever diagnose my pet without seeing the dog in person. I had to wait for her call +10mins standing right outside of the hospital and wasted another +30mins of my time listening to her speaking useless information including recommending and selling pet insurance! How about caring/seeing my dog? Less than 5 minutes! (that was $250+ charge)Second time is even more ridiculous. I guess the place is not happy with me taking the pet to get vaccine somewhere else and refused to give my pet vaccination using ridiculous reasons and asked me to meaningless wait for more than 25mins in the lobby AGAIN!!!! I have repeatedly confirmed with them it is ok to bring my pet 3 days before and also twice on the appointment day, but they were so irresponsible, I again wasted my time that I had to take off from work. This is pure revenge that I was not a “loyal” customer, which is absolutely mean and unacceptable. I suggest everyone avoid this place to give yourself and your pet a peace of mind, we need more professional and reasonable pricing vet help, not some one good at making excuses all day long and lying on google review.Update: the reply below from the owner is simply NOT true, you guys are completely lying about same day vaccination. Skilled and friendly staff. Theyve been seeing our pets for years and have taken great care of them. They also have boarding available. Access is easy, but leaving the driveway can be a minor challenge sometimes with the mall and freeways so close.Only reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is they are a bit expensive compared to other area clinics. Still, very good people and they will treat your pets well.

We took our two adult cats here when we were planning our out of state move, and it was a fantastic experience.We had a lot to cover in one appointment: updating their shots, getting general checkups, and then talking through the pros and cons of various options for for travel, including possible medication to keep them calm.Our biggest concern when we see a new vet is our older cat, who hates new experiences of all kinds - especially when they involve leaving the house. But the staff had no trouble at all keeping her calm during the examination, and they didnt even need to scruff her during the vaccinations.To cover all the topics, they were brisk but incredibly thorough, and by the end of the visit, wed covered all the bases, and when we left, we had a plan and the medication we needed to execute it.The price was probably the most surprising part. Given the two checkups, the vaccinations, and the prescriptions, I expected to pay considerably more than we did.

Took my newly adopted 3 month old kitten for a checkup after picking her up from the Burlingame ASPCA. They have a good covid19 check in policy at the hospital when we stopped by for our appointment, and it made us feel that appropriate safety measures were being taken. Vet was knowledgeable and recommended leukemia vaccination and flea medication. They are quite busy and were willing to take the time to review all the exam results and information. Excellent service.

We recently moved to Bay Area and I was looking for good care for my old cat. When my cat got sick I finally chose San Bruno Pet Hospital and was very pleased with the care they provide. The staff is very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, my cat is in the last stage of her life, and Dr Erica Chiu was very professional, knowledgeable and compassionate treating her and discussing our options with me. I have been taking my bulldog here for over a year for minor injuries and some other dietary concerns, and have had pleasant experiences all the way from booking to check out.Heads up, they book up super fast these days. When my dog had an eye injury, we had to wait 2 weeks or call daily to see if they have any cancellations. Luckily, cancellations do happen so we got an appointment 4 days into calling every morning at 8AM. If it’s an emergency, they will give you info for 24-hour emergency vet services nearby.Like another review said, they’re a bit pricey but they’re at a premium location so I’m guessing it can’t be a cheap operation.For nail trim/grooming, I recommend Petco across the street. Call in advance — $10/$15 + tip.

We visited for our first visit on the recommendation from a co-worker. The staff and doctors are so friendly and truly care about the pets they care for. The practice is smaller which means more personalized care, and their prices are reasonable. We will be back for our dogs annual checkup and any interim visits.

I was looking for a new vet, and am so happy to have found this awesome hospital.My fantastic experience started with a call on Thursday afternoon with a very friendly staff person who got my pooch setup for a Saturday appointment. This was already a huge upgrade from my last vet office, which has a not-so-pleasant front office person who is never able to fit me in within days, or on a Saturday.The visit itself was also 5 star: no waiting, and smiles all around. They are over priced! Took my two dogs in for a simple nail trim and they charged 42.16 for each! One is a large dog that I used to pay 15-20 my other dog is a small Yorkie mix of 5 Lbs. if you want to be taken for a ride this is the place. They are nice but, very very expensive!!! This place accommodated us instead of our primary vet, and went above an beyond to investigate the extent of our dog’s injury. My husband and our son went to this hospital for our cat appointment, Manager Pearl and an other girl was in the reception, first thing they said was our children couldnt come inside, he should wait in the car.I get it, we still have a pandemic, but how we gonna leave a 5 years inside the car by himself?Now they are saying what they asked was for both stay in the car and they gonna go and get our cat outside. Also this other girl who I had the unpleasant to talk hang up the phone while I was talking. What kind of professionalism is that?Do not even see the vet, but for sure its not worth take our pet at this hospital.

I dont understand how this place has an average of 4+ stars.Quick version: It is more expensive than other vets in the area, the vet we worked with was unprofessional, and their number one goal appears to squeeze as much money as possible out of customers.Longer version: We got our first ever dog (a Goldendoodle) and decided to try this place because of the good reviews and convenient location. We had two exams with Sue Lee and in both visits she mentioned an article about how the first person to breed a doodle now regrets that he did. The vets should be trying to create a good rapport with your customers, not trying to make them feel bad about the dog they have, especially with their high prices.They charge you some kind of exam fee even if your pet only needs to get a vaccine which is an unnecessary $50+ on top of paying for the vaccine. We asked for an estimate for getting our dog neutered and the quote was over $1,000. You can get it done for around $150 from SPCA/ARF. Our current vets quote was $297.The first medication we needed, we bought directly from them. But after we left, we looked up prices on Chewy.com and the prices on Chewy were sizably lower. When we needed medication the second time, I stated that Id like to order through Chewy and have the prescription sent to them. They tried to talk us out of using Chewy multiple times and tried to convince us to order through VetSource, which requires a membership to purchase from.Lastly, we needed a series of stool samples completed. One to determine the cause and a second one later to make sure the issue was taken care of. When we dropped off the first one, we paid for it. When the second one was dropped off, we were told that we had already paid so no payment was given. After returning home, they called and said it was a mistake and we needed to pay for each sample separately. Instead of being able to pay over the phone or bring it in the next day, they told us we had to come back that day to pay.Overall, we felt that the clinic was knowledgeable (as is our current clinic), but way overpriced and had somewhat poor personal skills.

There are so many good things to say about San Bruno Pet Hospital. From the veterinarians to the staff, the bottom line is that they will do what is best for your pet. They are compassionate and professional. Last year I went through a difficult time when one of pets was diagnosed with kidney disease which is incurable. Rather than put her down I opted to give her IV fluids daily, something I have no experience with. Both Dr. Barchas and the staff showed me to do this. When it came time to put Marcie down I was treated with dignity and respect.Throughout these challenging times San Bruno Pet Hospital is open for business while at the same time stringently following COVID-19 guidelines. Another plus is that they are open Saturdays.I would not hesitate to recommend San Bruno Hospital.

We have been going here since 1984 with all our furry kids starting with Siryon, then Taiko and in his senior years we found him his beautiful wife Peekaboo. Then we saved Maxx who is our furry little cotton ball, and shortly after Peekaboo passed on we adopted his pesky little sister Coco so he would have a buddy.We are very happy with all the staff members who take such good care of our babies and us pet parents when we have to face tough decisions. Our doggies well being is important to everyone there from the receptionists, to the vet technicians, all the doctors and the kennel staff.Dr. Ivie left the hospital in great hands.

Unnecessary upcharging and add-on services. Brought my dog as a new patient, saw a doctor in October who gave a physical exam and suggested we give our dog a flu vaccine. Made a appointment in December to get the flu shot but they insisted on performing another physical (and charging for it) before giving the vaccine. Watch out for the sneaky extras they add in here!

We came directly after landing in the US with our mixed Border Collie x Canaan dog in the midst of the shelter in place chaos. We needed overnight boarding (our airbnb did not allow dogs) and they have closed theirs.We found a working boarding that required us to give her additional vaccinations. They took our dog in and gave her the required vaccinations, Dr. Barchas was kind and came out to explain the situation and her state after examination. They helped us book future visits for continuous support in her health.

So I called to get a quote on a procedure for a kitten I rescued and the lady who answered the phone by the name of Meme had a nasty attitude and sounded to be upset with her life. She even slammed the phone and hung up on me. Truly alarming behavior coming from an employee who is handling living beings. I hope she doesnt take her anger out on someones fur baby because these pets are like our children at least for the majority of us pet owners. I mean shouldnt this place be an establishment of healing and compassion?

Im very pleased with the results taking my dog there. I used to go to other places. Always worried about cost but wanted to take care of my dog. Frodo had a foxtail lodged in his ear. He was very uncomfortable with this wild grass seed poking his eardrum. I look forward to making San Bruno pet hospital my two dogs place for there medical needs. Thank You very much. 🐕🐾

I was excited to take my new adopted guiniepig to this facility but when I called the receptionist was rude and not customer service oriented. I called to confirm my appointment that I did on THEIR website and was told that they didnt HAVE TIME FOR ME even though I had made my appointment on their website, I dont understand how you can set a appointment and it be confirmed and than the receptionist says they dont have time. As a first time client the morale over the phone was unprofessional and I asked that my appointment be canceled.

The doctor didn’t seem to care that much about my dog; she didn’t even speak with me during one of the follow ups even though I asked questions. She just sent a vet tech in because I didn’t pay for a full physical, just a “brief follow-up” appt. They also required full physicals before each vaccine, even though my dog just had one in their office, which is not something I’ve experienced before. Front staff is friendly at least.

I found visible tape worm segments in my dogs stool and called my vet to get her some medicine to get rid of them. There were quite a few of them on the surface. I took the sample into the vet so they could run test on it. The next day i got a call saying they couldnt find any parasites in her stool. They are negligent.
