Just came to this location with my 3 boys. Got followed around the whole time by an armed security guard. We got 3 pizzas and 2 juices. We went through self checkout and got watched so hard that he probably knows my pin number. Unacceptable, just because were black does not mean were going to steal. We were prioritized above everyone else in the store over 5 items. WOW....

The store is good. It has apples that other stores dont always carry.Its a 4 star because their 3 leches cake is dry like the 🏜 desert. Also, it lacks frosting. I get that they want to keep cost the same with everything going up, but in that case.... do less bread and more leches!

I dont know what happened to the sandwich deli menu at safeway. It use to be very inclusive accommodating all kinds of peoples choices. They had vegetarian sandwiches, sandwiches without pork, more healthy options. Now ALL sandwiches have pork or pork derivatives...and kiss good buy to the vegetarian options...really disappointing!

Other than the ONE manager (white guy who works in the mornings) this stores employees have completely started making many many customers feel like criminals from the moment the walk in the door ..Ive personally seen the same manager Hispanic woman constantly following customers and harassing them Ive heard her say inexcusable things about customers in Spanish when she thinks nobody but her friends understand Ive literally seen people leaving this store in tears of pure frustration after being harassed accused and bullied by these people its far beyond what they are supposed to be doing ..the security is there for a reason (even though the will literally be physical with anybody they feel they can Ive seen it alot lately) but these regular employees are a liability and it only takes 5 min in the store to see which ones and why

Sheila the store director was very unprofessional the messed up my son whole cake in the bakery department she told me well I didnt make your cake imagine having a kids party and the flavor cake for the birthday kids is wrong flavor and then they threw in 3 chocolate cupcakes in my dozen of white cake order very unprofessional didnt even call and ask if I would like anything else or if it was okay the director told me she can discount me 50% of a totally wrong order before I mentioned I still had the cake I cant refund full cake because you guys already ate it once I mentioned I had more than half what would I get she remained at 50% I told her if thats the case I might as well let the kids eat the cake she told me well then I wont refund you bring the cake or no refund call my supervisor tomorrow lol GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Considering its kinda located in Concords version of a small hood, the store is kept up very well.The aisles are clean and the shelves are stocked and tidy. The staff dont have the look of please kill me in their eyes like you see at Raleys locations, so thats a good thing. Overall, you could shop at a far worse Safeway location than this and is definitely worth a stop.

What I like: Fresh & organic choices, high quality meats, healthful options, nice selection of cheese and cured meats, fairly nice employees, clean & orderly, and a familiar and comfortable layout.What I dislike. I have never personally had any issues being watched or followed. However, upon reviewing other claims I asked a friend of mine to do an experiment I had her go into the store to buy a few items. I watched her and noticed that some of the actions by security was not similar to my own experiences.I understand that while Antioch my not be of the same socio-economic level as Walnut Creek or Brentwood and I know that all supermarkets must deal with product loss. But by doing this you alienate some customers and deprive them of knowing what Safeway is all about. I recognize that this treatment is not indicative of how Safeway views its patrons and it may be due to overzealous security guards using lazy standards to promote safety and reduce losses. However, I believe openness and honesty can help this Safeway rehabilitate its image therefore I implore them to look-inward and ameliorate this situation.

Always good quality and the Butcher is always pleasant and helpful, even when he needs to fill in mornings at the Fish Dept. also. Shopping Carts during the day can be problematic and you may have to approach a customer unloading purchases to get their cart. Great deals in the clearance section by the Bakery(Dont even look at the baked goods calling to you to-- just look...!).

No matter how crowded the parking lot. No matter how busy it is. I always recieve fast, friendly, and helpful service. If mobility is an issue you can order online and a crew member will bring your groceries to your car! Cant get that kinda service anywhere else but at Safeway! Usually go late at night to avoid the crowds. They used to have a lot of employees I knew and regularly would chat with while checking out and they were super nice. They all have moved on or change shifts and Ive seen a lot of new faces lately at night. The only issue Ive ever had is there was an item I really liked and bought one of them (it was a hot sauce) noticed it was expired by a very long time. (About 7 months past due) I returned it and told the customer service about it and they said they would take care of it..... They didnt. The next time I brought it up to the front of the store again and told the person it was now expired by 8 months and still on the shelf. (There were about 20 total of them in 4 different flavors all expired) a week later went in again and still on the shelf and nothing had been done. Finally asked to speak to a manager on duty (I really tried not to pull the male Karen move didnt yell just told them I had repeatedly told them about this and they kept putting it back on the shelf) finally got taken down and took another month or so before it was restocked. Other than that Ive been going here since it opened in 1990s and never had an issue.

You know I could not place a order for some wings I was told by a deli person I had to come in and get them I wanted them freshly made for our dinner, but you know you lost me as a customer I never refused service to a customer any of my 10 years of working in the deli or bakery dept thats very sad t I say no to a customer I showed their every Friday for the specials that was very rude on how you treat a paying customer. I placed a pick up order on 3/23 and I order some Taylor farms mini meals to last a week, but they all had a best by date 3/23.I went in and after waiting a bit at customer service, the manager of the pick up department noticed me and was amazing. She asked if I wanted to shop myself and replace, but I’m recovering from a sprained ankle and I told her I wouldn’t be able to.She immediately jumped into action and an employee did my shop again, fast and effectively, and she gave me a chair to sit on.

I was in there for maybe 10 minutes yesterday 2/4/23 during the 2 pm hour. After I was done I went outside to wait for my ride. There were two or three other people who arrived there after I was already standing right outside the door. They were smoking weed right in front of the store. The employees who were out collecting carts didnt say a thing to them or tell them they needed to move on. this went on for a goof 10 - 15 minutes. This may be California...but some people dont appreciate getting high let alone are allergic to it.

OMG I have lived in this area for over 40 years and every year on my kids birthdays I would order and purchase their cakes from this location. Depending on the child I would either get white or marble or chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream frosting. So of course when my daughter turns 18 this is the cake she wanted so I pre ordered it online, well unbeknows to me she as well ordered a cake online and we both ordered it about a week out. I was to pick up the cake about noon on the 29th of November and she was to pick up her cake about 3 PM on the same day so when we went to pick the cake up neither cake was ready or shall I say neither cake was even made. I was so upset that I asked to speak to a manager because to me this was unacceptable. The manager was wonderful he was very apologetic and he even had them make my cake right then in there which was fabulous because my daughter is picky and doesnt eat regular frosting. It took them about 30 minutes which is understandable and the cake was free because of the misunderstanding and the confusion of the whole situation. I understand the policy was changed because people were ordering cakes and not picking them up so now when you order a cake you have to go into the store order and pay for it then and there so when I ordered it online I figured there would be a pay Option but there was not so if you want to take your chances and order online without paying 1st then thats what you have to do and if youre thinking well Ill just check a confirm prior to the day I pick it up you might as well forget about it because my daughter called not once but twice to check on her cake and it still wasnt made. Thanks to the fabulous night manager for coming to the rescue.

This safeway location doesnt have many carts, and they got rid of all hand baskets. If you want to go grocery shopping here not only do you deal with high prices and pray you can get a cart. The management there doesnt care at all. Go to Brentwood safeway on Balfour!

The level of discrimination is ridiculous at this location. This morning, me and my 16 month old child came into this Safeway location to pick up some sugar. After paying as Im about to exit the store I was stopped by the security guard and accused of stealing. He proceeded to place his hand on my shoulder as if he was going to detain me or something. I told him I didnt steal anything and ot to touch me. I told him I have a receipt in my bag. I asked to speak to a manager as this security guard continued harassing me and making a seen. As Im explaining the situation to the store manager, the security guard is making threats and trying to fight me. The manager didnt even try to get the security guard away from us as Im talking to her. As I walked to my car the security guard continued to follow me and tell me what am I going to do. I had to tell him Im calling the police since he will not stop harassing me and my sleeping child. Im very disappointed with this location and how things are handled here. I will make a complaint with corporate and hope to make sure this doesnt happen to anyone else in the future. This was ridiculous and very unprofessional.

Went to this Safeway last night with hubby. Ide like to say this is a really awesome store! The variety of food, home run inn pizzas, with this interesting atmosphere had positive energy with happy shoppers, robust staff help up front and a nice security guard. The ladies at the self checkout were patient and quite helpful to us we havent seen this kind of customer service for some time! Great selection. Well maintained to include the shelves appearing to be full. Also a friendly staff.Today, we had two carts of groceries. We went to Damaicas line. Not only did she NOT roll her eyes or do anything to make us feel bad about the amount of items we had, she was friendly and helped me bag the items. She is a great asset to your store.It kind of surprised me that there were two male employees that didnt offer to help her. They stood by the next register talking to each other.Today, I went to do about 2 weeks shopping. The cashier was Tina. She was great! Friendly and helpful. The bagger however packed one bag so full that I weighed it when I got home. It was 98 pounds. Others were extremely heavy too. Back when I was in the grocery business, we were trained to bag much lighter, (35lbs). Im 72 with a bad back and ended up straining it again. Please train your people to bag lighter.Today, they had sodas buy 2, get 2 free. I was charged $9.99 each for all four. Im a rewards member, but may not be much longer.

Update August 2023: By Wednesday, shelves should be restocked but not so much here: plenty of empty slots in the dairy aisle.Safeway recently lost a law suit for overcharging customers. A buy-2-get-1-free item rang up full price; I didnt notice until I got home even though Id pointed it out to the cashier at the time.At 6:30 pm, there was only one register open (plus self-check).Customer service seems to have fallen off a cliff at this store. (Again, Im only here because I couldnt stop at my preferred store in Pleasant Hill.)Security Trumps Customer ConvenienceThis Safeway has cordoned off a store within a store, reportedly to protect high security items: booze, razors, batteries, Tylenol, etc. Everything in the corral must be paid for upon exiting the corral. This is great for Safeway, I guess; not so great for customers. I already had a basket full of items when I found out I couldnt buy Tylenol or batteries without getting into another checkout line.I understand the need for store security; shrinkage can be a real problem. However, treating every customer as a potential thief at 7-11 tips the scale for me enough to shop elsewhere. Ill be back occasionally for half-and-half and blueberry muffins but I think thats it.Update (June 2022): Nothings changed. I still do the bulk of my grocery shopping elsewhere. I was out of milk. Thats it.

Everything listed in the weekly advertisement, was not in stock. The deli was the biggest s*** show that I have seen in a long time, most of the employees didnt know what they were doing one of them actually said she didnt know what she was doing. They were having to constantly substitute product for what should have been in stock. There were no shopping carts to be had. The store blames it on the homeless population stealing them I dont see how thats possible when they all have wheels that lock if you take them off the property. Also the staff it seems to be excessively busy plucking orders for online sales, and making sure those take priority. Customer service is questionable at best employees seem to have somewhat of a general malays when it comes to dealing with the public. The Hangover from two years of covid stimulus. Has not worn off yet.

I went to the seafood counter asked the clerk for 1/2 lbs Italian seafood salad. Got home went to open it up for our dinner was charged $51.28 for 1.72 lbs of crab legs. I took it straight back. It took 3 days before the return hit my bank account. I thought I give them another try today. There was 2 people in the sandwich, a customer at the deli meat counter and me. 2 clerks over at the sandwich area there 1 in the deli meat section and 2 standing making sushi. It took 17 minutes until the one clerk from sandwich bar came to help me. This man had just arrived to get Chinese food and the clerk making sushi starting waiting on him. I asked my clerk for some chicken stripes and asked for fried rice and chow main. She said that after I got my stripes I had to go standing behind the line to get my Chinese food. I was like oh I am done here. I will never go back to this Safeway again.

Always a pleasure, we’ve shopped at Safeway here in Northern California and Von’s in Southern California since moving to California as newlyweds in October 1973.Our Safeway Club Card has enabled us to save a considerable amount of money compared to regular prices and saving an extra 10 cents a gallon on gasoline is nice too.We really appreciate the terrific selection of products and the friendly, helpful, service of the employees.

Worst service of any store Ive ever been to. Went to return an expired item. No one was at customer service where the sign read Customer Service 8am - 8pm. It was only 6:10pm. I asked one of the cashiers of someone was available or if I should come back. She said that she would go and get the manager. 10min later still no manager. I asked the same cashier again and she went to go get a manager. She returned and stated that the assistant manager was at the self checkout. I went to see him about returning the expired item. He stated that the manager was upstairs but he would call him. Again, no manager. Horrible customer service. Will not be returning to this location. Will go to the next town over to return the expired item and will not be patronizing any Safeway stores again. Too many other options available for my hard earned money.

Absolutely my new GO TO! Tired of Starbucks? Try Dutch Brothers! I cant believe I used the excuse of the line of cars is always too long from checking them out! The lines move quickly, they have 2 employees outside taking your order from your vehicle, you can pay right there (card only), but if cash is king for you, then you can do so at the pickup window. If youd prefer to stretch your legs a but, they do have parking spots and you can walk-up to another window and place your order in person, and there are two tables and seating for patrons to use. The staff is mostly young adults and they have all been wonderful! Please do NOT let that car line discourage you! Itll be worth it, we LOVE their lemonade options...the Eclipse is a favorite!

The staff here are some of the most kind and helpful people. The store typically has everything I need, and it even has a Starbucks located inside. Great place to do your shopping although I do advise sticking to items that are on sale as other items can sometimes cost a bit more than other stores.

Dont go to the Deli Service store.They cant follow directions. I got to get my team lunch, they didnt evern bother to ask what we want on our sandwiches in the end we had to remind them the sandwiches includes cheese.. To whom it may concern:Today I went in to the Antioch location to pick up a few things. And sometimes I will grab a hand basket and sometimes I won’t. Well, today was one of those days. I didn’t grab a basket and used my reusable Safeway bag to put my items into. As I was shopping, I was on the aisle with Tupperware and the security guard came down and walked pass me. As this point in time I didn’t think much of it. Well, I headed over to the aisle where the vitamins were and now this area is joined with the alcohol section which has a separate register. And as I was looking for a vitamin that I had in mind. I look up and noticed that the security guard was watching the monitor screen and now mind you this not a big area and it was myself and couple on the same aisle. I headed to register to check out and I mentioned to the cashier that I was not very happy with the fact he had been watching me while I was shopping. She explained that the shopping bags have been issue. Not exactly sure what that meant. But, however as I was heading out of the store I asked another clerk what was the security guard’s name. I aware this location has had some issues. I have had conversations with some of the workers. But, not everyone that walks through that door is their to rip off the store. Regardless of there dress or creed. I left the store feeling very uncomfortable. I forgot a few things and didn’t even want to go back. I went to target instead. I’m speaking out on this matter because this not the condition that I want to spend my money that I work very hard for 6 days a week. This was not a good experience.

Stood at counter to pick up turkey holiday dinner.. 5 people behind counter with no one else waiting. and waited a long time to be acknowledged . In fact we felt ignored. Then was given a turkey that had to been out defrosting for it least 3 days, I actually saw a whole cart of turkeys just sitting inside a shopping cart, Even tho there was a freezer just steps away . found other turkeys in the store too that were just warm. that could kill somebody ! We decided it was not safe to keep shopping & left .

Came for the advertising on their steaks, got excited when I saw the sign, but no all gone =( seems like they only put a few out at a time so people dont go crazy on the advertised price. Felt kinda like a bait and switch because they advertised an amazing price to get me in the door but then only put enough out for 2 or 3 people to get the deal. Helpful service was above and beyond. my card made the register malfunction and cashier was extremely helpful and rescanned all my items and helped me bag everything since i was carrying my baby and i was nervous because I was holding up the line but cashier was super kind about everything and made the experience less stressful. Worst Safeway ever. You need a new night shift manager. I come in at 1240am and then 5 minutes later they call on the intercom that theyre closing in 5 minutes which would only be 12:50am. I dont really think nothing but sure wish I had. I go step into the bathroom and come out about 12:57am and start heading to the front counter to get rung up. As Im walking down the aisle the security guard was asking me what I was doing here? I said what does it look like? Im shopping and going up to the front to pay. Then he says oh I dont think theres anyone at the front because theres no one else in the store. Long story short I get into an altercation with the rude brown manager with a beard with glasses who told security to throw me out of store. He aint nothing more than a union worker. I walk in at 12:40am, go to registers at 12:57am and get kicked out without my groceries. Great job Safeway on hiring nothing but the best 👏👏👏 I will definitely refer people to never come here again, free of charge.

Not good. My husband and I both need an electric cart and they only have one left. Today he was worse off so he got to use the cart. I understand people steal them. There is a solution to this crime. When a customer leaves the store a bagger clerk follows the customers out, helps them to load their car and brings the electric cart back into the store. This is what Raleys does. This place gets way too packed and nobody opens a line. The lines get crazy at the store closes early. Be aware of your surroundings parking lots full of shady characters. I have watched groups of people walk out with things right in the face of security. I actually stopped going here when there was a huge shootout in the parking lot hitting lots of cars and windows. Typical Safeway. One thing different about this one is that they have a sushi and asian food section (in addition to the their deli sandwiches). Their chow mein is good but I would stay away from the other stuff. Sushi are made fresh daily and kept in a display case. Its not bad but dont expect it to be cheap. Typically will cost about $10.00 for a small tray which is comparable to restaurant pricing.Their sandwiches, Im not a big fan of; but their fried chicken and chicken strips are not bad and good value.Their groceries are okay and produce are fresh although not as cheap as FoodMaxx. Between Luckys and Safeways I like the both of these stores but since Luckys has closed down in December Ive been shopping more at Safeway Safeway is a little pricey but I like Safeways.

Tried to call 4 times for info from the bakery; tried the bakery twice and after getting nowhere tried customer service twice it automatically hung up on me once after ringing into nowhere and three times looped back to the main announcement: not so friendly neighborhood Safeway after all.
