Its a friendly small town market. Store staff is helpful and courteous. I do most of my grocery shopping there. It has improved recently by adding refrigerators with doors for cheese, butter and other dairy items. Also, beer and wines are also enclosed in refrigerator with doors.

This Safeway location is awesome, store is clean, restrooms are clean, everything is always full and stocked, parking lot is big and always clean, and is nice to have a gas station too.The only reason why i gave three stars is because cashier didn’t greet or say hi or anything, and didn’t say thank you not even a bye either.I personally don’t mind that but i believe is part of costumer service and part of his job.

ASK AND DOUBLE CHECKCame on 8.28 to buy a whole roasted chicken, but they seem small, so I saw the fried chicken on the deli, 16ct /$17.99. Got home, open the bucket, only 9pieces in there :(We were celebrating my moms bday, I couldnt go back because her and the family arrived.

Big store with everything we need and some great deals available in the app, along with fuel discounts for grocery purchases. Clean. Well organized. Plenty of staff handling registers and keeping the store stocked, cleaning, taking care of produce, deli and Starbucks in the store. A nice experience.

As you would expect from a Safeway and is well stocked and has standard prices (especially if you are visiting Pinnacles, this is more of a local location and not tourist inflated). However, the self-checkout scanners dont seem to be equipped to take Safeway rewards cards on devices and must be entered manually. Otherwise well stocked and a good grocery location.

Great grocery store overall. Probably the nicest out of the handful we have in town. Wonderful selection. The floral department is one of the best. BUT...my wife bought a couple of pieces of rotisserie chicken from the deli last week and they ended up being totally rotten. I mean fished-out-of-the-trash rotten. Couldnt really smell how bad it was until she put them in the car. Once we got home we found the source of the smell and in the garbage they went.

Ive never figured out the digital coupons. I would really love to get the deals. I paid $7.50 for lunch meat that was on sale with the digital coupon for $2.50 but because I couldnt figure out the digital coupon I had to pay full price how is that fair? I use my club card!!!!In all fairness though this Safeway has gone better over the last four years since moving here to Hollister.Theyre stocking more which is wonderful. I think they finally got the message that they have to start stocking more in general with the housing boom over the last four years and with the amount of people moving here from San Jose and those cities further north of San Jose.That increase in population hit the stores hard especially when people started buying in bulk around Covid. They couldnt keep up with the need nor the demand. Remember people from these big cities think that they can get anything they want anytime they want. Theyre used to being able to stock up and buy in bulk.

Very clean never too packed. Best hours to shop are in the evening because its almost empty which is nice to keep a distance right now. Love Michelle M.. Super sweet and friendly Customer Service. From the Midwest, Safeway is a new chain to us. Very clean stores, well organized with extremely helpful staff. Everyone is happy to answer questions! Supply was reasonable considering the state the clutter is in with getting shipments delivered etc. The deals are good, it was a little confusing getting used to finding the deals and coupons. You dont need clicked coupons in our state to receive the deals. Were learning!

Been shopping here for quite some years, staff is friendly. Store is clean. I also love the pharmacy services, the best. My negative staff is based on their online shopping service. My order is always I complete so I decided to get down and see if I can substitute the items, turns out the items were there but not in my order. So maybe a lack of effort? Or time?

It’s a nice store with most everything you need. Decent hot food, deli selections and bakery. Fish and meat department always looks fresh and is generally open longer than their competitor around the corner. My complaints; why I give it 2 stars, are club card and layout.Groceries are spread out from one side of the store to the other with the pharmacy and gift junk in the middle. Stuff I’m never looking for there. Maybe it only happens to me but when I miss something it seems I’m walking miles back and forth through the dead zone and it drives me crazy.Club card.I’m not the club card carrying type. I have an account but I don’t carry the card.the store had mine screwed up for so long it was impossible to use and I got tired of them saying they would update the information, only for it not to work the next time. For this reason I always seem to get screwed if I use the self checkout and sometimes when the cashier can’t find my information. It bothers me that if you are offering lower prices.... just offer the low price to everyone!! I hate having to remember if the items I picked up have club card pricing and whether I’m going to end up paying the higher price if I use the self checkout and can’t figure out how to get the discount pricing.Again, this may be my problem, but at the end of the day it is the store that loses my business because I don’t like the layout and I don’t like messing with the club card. With a few other stores close by I generally just avoid going here because of that. Who knows, maybe it ends up costing me more somewhere else but at least I know up front what I’m going to pay without the guessing game.Other than that for me, it’s a good store.

This Safeway should really be reviewed as two entities. The gas station is convenient, usually one of the lower priced, and generally nice to fuel at. It deserves 4 or 5 stars.The store proper is a different matter. This place is cramped like you wouldnt believe. Even before social distancing the aisles were to close together and the check stand lines went into the aisles. Its central actually harms this review because it is one of the busier places in town. Shopping isnt fun, and they have generally higher prices than Nob Hill or Lucky. If you have the time, Lucky is the better shopping experience all around.

Been shopping at this store for 20+ years. Have had good service and clean environment. In the last 4 month I have been disappointed. I understood the need to be patient during the upgrade but it is well past time to be making excuses for the shelves not to be stocked. I go shopping on the same day at approximately the same time since they started the remodel I have been lucky to find half of what I need. I may just give up and switch to the Luckys store. Theirs are much better stocked shelves. This is not what I had grown used to from this store very disappointed.

I enjoy shopping at Safeway very much. The parking lot is easy to get in and out of, better than the other grocery store parking lots, where drivers drive every which way. The deli is great, as is the bakery, great cakes and pastries. The fish dept people seem a bit paranoid, though helpful. The balloon people are great and recognize me. There is a very good choice of little things for older patrons, small containers of vegetables and fruit or yogurt. The choice of cookies and candy is very good. There is a great blood taking office, the people there are very competent. There is a great choice of wines. The beer selection is ok. Ive only had two concerns with ice cream, the Tillamook ice cream was blue once and another is seem to have plastic in the ice cream. My favorite time to shop is at the opening, though the self serve machines are down for awhile.

Love 5 dollar Fridays. Problem with sales shelves empty out quickly but you can ask for raincheck again depending on what the item is. I love the new refrigerators that were installed in cheese, butter and beer aisle. I used to have to wear a sweater and walk quickly thru these aisles. Now the items stay fresher and saving energy by not having items in open areas. Makes my shopping experience more comfortable.

Know they are clean. So with that in mind take a slip of paper from the donut area if you decide to grab just a bell pepper or a head of lettuce with your bare hands. Sometimes we forget to carry the sanitized cloth. Most vegetables are clothed but thank God for single items due to budget. Fighting what you touch and there again touch maybe not recognizes.💋😋

Store is big and spacious. They have a wide variety of items. The meat counter offer fresh steaks and chops. The staff in all parts of the store are cheerful, and helpful pop full of needed. There is a Starbucks which makes shopping nice, or a nice reward for completing the shopping.

Honestly, I’m not someone to EVER write a review but I’m super upset. I always shop at Safeway. Love the prices, the people, the store. The last couple of months I have purchased produce and got home to realize that it is already rotted on the inside and inedible. Two containers of hummus were not sealed, and two different packs of muffins already moldy. It’s extremely disappointing. I’m a mom of two young kids with no time to make extra time to return bad food. I hope it starts to get better.

Love the new look. Getting use to finding everything. Only issue is there is never enough checkers. Sometimes I am fourth or fifth person in line with one open checkout. When calls of assistance are made, it seems a long time before someone shows up. Happy with people and service.😁

I want to thank Karla in floral for taking so much time to help me put together a floral arrangement for my daughters college graduation! She stopped what she was doing to assist me and made suggestions that helped me decide on colors and the style of the bouquet. She then took all the flowers I liked and made a tremendously full and elegant bouquet! I have been shopping at Safeway for years and they are all wonderful but this lady was the BEST! Good selection, clean premises. But if you get claustrophobic it might not be the best store to go to. As they focus on getting as much product on the floor as possible and so err on the side of putting so many displays in the isles often its impossible for two carts to fit to pass each other. You have to wait and take turns going by. Not that big of a deal, but as someone who does get claustrophobic I could only handle being in the store for so long before I had to leave.

The labor allocation to the check stands are a joke. Always long lines unless your there very early or very late. Employees treat the customer like they are inconveniences. Hello, without customers you would have a job! However, this is the exact type of service the store manager gives so no wonder why its acceptable to come to work and act poorly!

Went in for a cake, they had a great selection for birthday cakes. Had car trouble (locked keys in car) at the safeway parking lot. The manager was so nice to my husband and family. He helped us and offered cold water bottles for myself and the kids and asked us if wed like to wait inside at the Starbucks area while someone came to get the car door open. It was 109 degrees outside. Very thankful for this mans generosity and willing to help as well as his co worker. Didnt get the names, sorry nut great customer service!

This store is always lacking in the cashier department. You had better check the dates on everything, especially dairy and eggs. Just bought a salsa from the deli and began to eat it when my wife informed me that it expired almost 4 weeks ago. They rotate the old expired stock to the front so make sure you dig out the ones in the back.

They have a decent amount of choices. They could use more gluten free stuff. They are not limiting the amount of people in the store and you will need to clean your own cart.Staff is always friendly and willing to help. Ive only ever had one nasty lady working in the deli give me attitude but I havent seen her in a while.I used to shop at Nob Hill in Gilroy because I didnt like the Safeway there. But when we moved here it was just the opposite. I dont really like the Nob Hill in Hollister so now I shop at safeway.Also if you use the just for you app you can save even more money.

I had the most humbling, sweet, lucky and serendipitous experience at Safeway back in 02/06/2021 with cashier Marissa & the woman doing the bagging. I was on my way to a much needed womens ceremony that a friend was running for me that required flowers. I hadnt received my EDD (it was suspended) and thought that I had plenty of money in my account, but an unexpected automatic payment (Study.com that charges $59.00 per month for CSET preparation, watch out for them cuz it renews if you dont cancel after your exam(s) went through and wiped me out. I was asked to show up with very specific flowers for this ceremony and so I picked up some carnations & roses. I was deeply embarrassed when my card declined and had every intention of simply returning the flowers and showing up empty handed at my friends house. Marissa and the woman doing the bagging could see tears welling up and offered to buy these flowers for me, even though they absolutely didnt have to. That experience definitely made me cry because here were these young women, helping me out during a time of need when I felt like I, as the older person should be the one to help THEM out! Ive been going back to school to get a Special Education Credential and am super broke these days & they just lifted my entire year with their kind hearted gesture. Without knowing my situation or even asking, these women truly blessed my day & year, again, with their overtly kind and generous offer to buy these flowers for me. They didnt know my situation, but had such empathy for me and this event that I was on my way to. I havent received my financial aid for this semester, but when Im able to, Id love to be able to pay them back or offer them a gift certificate. Ill be done with my SPED credential program in due time. Thank you Marissa and the woman who was doing the bagging. Ive always felt the kind hearted nature of virtually EVERYONE who works at Safeway, but my gosh I just never expected this level of support when I needed it the most. They cemented in me, that despite this horrible pandemic that were in that theres so much love & HOPE & absolutely support in the places youll least expect it. I will forever shop at this store until I am no longer able. These women absolutely didnt have to do this, but they did. I will pay it forward, promise. I hope you women know what blessed angels you are & that some really AMAZING karma is coming your alls way. Im crying again, just remembering that day & how two strangers can completely uplift your spirit with a genuine act of generosity! Currently the store is well stocked with most items you would require. Shopping carts are collected and clean before use. Not a big fan of using Covid19 as an excuse to shove plastic bags down our throats, they dont even attempt to find paper anymore because money before the death of marine life. The dumpsters near the gas station are usually overflowing and garbage is blowing around.

The management here is very very poor. Wish I could give zero stars. Ordered drive up and go 2 days in a row and the first day they only gave me 5 of 30 items cause they were rushing and forgot my other bags and the 2nd day I waited from 7:00 pm till 8:30 and ended up leaving cause they said they still weren’t done with my order that was supposed to be at 7:00 and the worker commented that the manager sits there and does nothing all day why they run around like slaves due to management cutting back employees hours when they are super busy. Horrible experience. Corporate needs to clean out the store and get rid of the scum that is called a manager. Nob hill was such a fast easy ordering experience. I come here only when necessary (other stores don’t carry what I need). But be prepared to pay more than necessary.Prices are very high here. Go to the smaller markets in Hollister and prices are much more affordable. Everything is marked up here. For example 1lb of tomatoes costs anywhere between $2 to $4+ and at the smaller markets the same 1lb of tomatoes will cost about $0.79 to $1.30.Anytime you come here, you may end up paying about 2x as much as you would somewhere else.

Very disappointing experience using DriveUp & Go service. They gave all my refrigerated/frozen items to someone else but charged me for them. Then told me I would have to wait while they reshopped those items or I could go home without any meat or dairy. Never have the vegan brands they advertise to have in stock. Deli staff is usually pretty rude and ignore me unless I ask them to directly help me. Produce is over priced and sometimes not in great shape, I think that might be a universal problem in the Ag area though...not sure. It’s the last place I go if I have non choice.

We arrived in Hollister around 745 pm and entered your store looking for a quick solution for food for the kids. We were going to get sandwiches made, however while looking at the menu board your staff came out, did not acknowledge us and called to another staff asking if their till was already taken because they werw cleaning up for the night. Construction difficult enough to get around, but also down to one working (one stall) rest room from which lots of noise emerged, but not the occupant...at least not in the ten minutes I waited.UPGRADE & UPDATE: Construction is completed. Some staff could be more attentive. But the store is clean and many are friendly. Was one-star when I was cranky about my first experience there. Subsequently, I find myself there too frequently to believe they only deserve one star. Why am I there so frequently? Two reasons. On the road for business in Hollister, especially during the pandemic restrictions, a clean and accessible mens room is a major attraction. But the other reason: Spicy Chicken Tenders. We dont get them here in Salinas. Ive seen them at one other Safeway so far. But for those of us who want both kinds of heat in our road-trip hand-held meal-on-the-run...theyre worth putting up with the sometimes distracted (and other-times sterling) staff, the weirdly convoluted traffic patterns in the store, and occasionally long-ish lines with apparently too-few staff. So, three stars at this point, for this location. (Watsonville, Felton, and Burney, California: 5-star Safeways, by the way. Salinas locations, not so much, though Constitution Avenue is easily a 4-star location on a regular basis. But, admittedly, Ive been spoiled by the crew in Burney.)

A week ago I went into the Hollister Safeway to get some $5/lb ribs ($5 Friday special) and they told me that they didnt have any ribs shipped to them. This week they had them but they were out and the cook was at lunch and it would be 2 hours before they would be ready. So I have to make an additional trip to get ribs for my wife.

This place has the best pre-boxed sushi around Hollister I make it my go-to for lunch almost every day and if Im sick of the sushi The boars Head sandwiches are off out of this world. They have a great selection and a awesome team working there everybody has a positive vibe and is super helpful and to make it a bonus you get to save on the Safeway gas if you are a member like I am and always safe almost 30 cents a gallon each time at the pump definitely shop here you will not be sorry you made the decision to come here

Tried grocery pick up app service. Terrible experience! Placed order early in the day, picked a 5pm pick up. Hubby had to wait 22 mins because nobody was picking up the phone before he went there and wheren he got a hold of somebody that person didnt have the groceries, went back in to get in, stopped to talk to 2 patrons for 10 mins with no concern that there was a customer waiting for the groceries ordered. Dont offer a service you guys havent perfected.Not to mention the fact your recent store remodel has cause residents, yes it was a discussion on a local FB group, precious time looking for relocated items, distributeor dsplay a damn map you dummies, that was the damn reason I tried your grocery pick up service.

Typical high class grocery store - clean, well lit, good selection, helpful employees, lots of parking. Even right next to best gas station in town. Pay a little for all this, but its worth it. Will return.

Main reason I give a high rating is because I want to give credit where its due since these forums usually are used to vent negative experiences whether genuine or not. An employee named Amber who works there is very professional and really stands out to me in her customer service. People like her make a big difference which is often overlooked.

Nice big grocery store with great stuff. Bakery has several sweet treats. The fresh meat section has a wide variety of steaks, the butchers will custom cut for you. All staff is friendly. The cherry on top of this Sund wa y is the Starbucks stand with help accurate baristas.

The prices are higher here but the quality is great, the employees are really why I go so often they are exceptional. The lines are crazy long especially weekends and at night, I suggest going early in the day if you can.

Are you really freaking kidding me??Lots people pissed off.Plus the lines inside getting out of control 10 plus carts per 3 checkers. And only gets worse. Come on.Making it difficult to choose.Read your tanks every 4 or 6 hours know your volume. Far too crowded a store, jammed with multiple displays on each aisle, making it difficult to walk around. Safeway seems to think they will sell more if they overload the entire store. What it does is make shopping there highly stressful as you try to negotiate around over packed aisles and try to find what you are looking for amongst all the junk. Prices are high by as much as a dollar per item compared to elsewhere. The layout is poor with meats and dairy scattered all over. Produce didnt look all that good. Once was enough. I dont recommend them.
