Decent selection, plenty of parking, but long lines and no self checkout. Even though Im not a fan of this Safeway, its clearly an important resource for the community and should stay open.

This place is 200% trash bathroom doesnt work you literally dont feel safe outside only two doors open in the entire store due to people stealing so much they have to keep doors closed at all times the area is super sketchy you want to take all your stuff with you or if youre probably get broken into although they do have their hot and ready meals and their Deli pretty good which is surprising but no excuse for all the other discrepancies including no bathroom! I am a driver and come here for lunch and extremely rely on the bathroom everyday of course theres so mini bums and poverty all around that they cant even have the bathroom open they lock it tight and shut and it also looks like a back alley back there where the bathrooms at disgusting. Do better Safeway I absolutely love coming to your stores.

Are you in the market for ROTTEN MEAT? This is your place!I brought my $20 flatiron steak home and promptly cut open the package and-- WHAM!--the stench of decaying flesh flooded my kitchen. Sadly, this isnt the first time Ive been burned but its certainly the last.Clearly, the people entrusted with keeping meat at a safe temperature at all times cannot be bothered to do so.Whats more, when I returned it and requested my money back, I was treated like a nuisance--not even an attempt at an apology was made.Avoid this location if you value your precious time.

Why don’t your security let your customer use your restroom. If I have any other choice of supermarket I would go buy their products instead of shopping here, but the reality is that this is almost a monopoly in the city of San Francisco. Other choice left is Target or Grocery Outlet. If you blame the community then get out and let other business savvy people try their luck with you excellent location. Any Buffoon can make more profit in SF. Wake up and smell the sourdough peeps.

The rats are a pretty touch to the Safeway😍the way they run between isles as Im trying to grab an item is very exquisite along with everything locked up because someones stealing every 5 seconds. the bathroom smells so good too I wanna throw up every time I have to use it. So if you wanna risk getting sick and hearing the cops jump someone for stealing every 5 minutes I highly recommend this Safeway you you. And dont even get me started on the long lines! omg you can talk to the person next to you for hours in this store because of how slow the lines are

Maybe this store should just close allowing any other stores to operate in this area. The customer service is not customer friendly or family friendly people who have children have no where to use the restroom or change their infants. So as my family walked in the store we felt uncomfortable and unwelcomed . Now we are considering shopping at other grocery stores even if we have to travel further to receive the service we deserve

After finishing my shopping and outside of the store I was assaulted with bear mace by 2 security guards from Safeway! They ended up stealing my bag of paid for groceries accusing me of shoplifting!! They pushed me, grabbed me & taunted me verbally as they emptied 2 full cans of mace in my face at point blank range! I thought I was going to drown and definitely wished I were dead for the following several hours suffering the effects of the attack! I think I am going to seek a attorney and for sure will never shop there again. Im told I am not a isolated incident but several other people have had similar experiences so beware 4TH & KING location is run by thugs and criminals.

TERRIBLE … I went in to return some stuff I had bought and waited in the crazy long line just to be told by the cashier they won’t take my return because I didn’t walk straight up to them and cut the whole line..I had receipt id and they still wouldn’t let me return anything .. and the security here obviously got bullied to much in school because I’ve never seen people power trip so hard over nothing… everyone needs to eat . Would you rather they get it from Safeway or your kitchen ?

Store has had to get rid of self checkout due to rampant theft and so even if you have only 2 items to checkout, stand in long lines, better off at the marina Safeway instead.Update: checkout lines have improved!

Excellent staff! I really appreciate this Safeway! The Guard named A.C. was really humble to speak with. He made me feel welcome and safe in the area as I was just in time when Safeway open @ 6am. Need to stock up on food!!! lol. I will definitely be back brother! God bless!!!😊

Enormous supermarket with anything you could ever need, and even features a couple other stores like Starbucks and Wells Fargo. Service is quick and efficient, and the cashiers are quite kind and welcoming. Prices are actually quite reasonable compared to other food prices in this incredibly expensive city.

Yeah so I don’t know why none of the Safeways in San Francisco display accurate hours. This place has closed at 9 for the last 2 years at least but now suddenly Google is saying 11? bzzt wrongo. nightmare shopping experience anyway, last time I went they blocked me from leaving either exit - there were staff at both of them telling me I had to go to the other one, and I had to go back and forth across the store multiple times hauling groceries before finally just charging out the nearest one and tripping the alarms. Glad it’s closing

The butcher here is garbage. I asked for two new York steaks and the women behind the counter had a whole attitude because I didnt want the pre packed 4 pack I only needed 2 steaks I received one 2 inch steak that was cut at an angle so it was wedge shaped and cooked unevenly, and the other one was 1 inch, and both had a ton of unsightly grey blotches all over. The produce was also wilty, and the plants are all dying here. If I could give zero stars I would. Worst Safeway experience ever.

Walk in to try and use the restroom after walking around for a full day and had some Yerba matte in my bag for later that was purchased from a different store. Proceeded to humiliate me in front of the whole store walking me back into line saying I didn’t pay for it. They don’t even sell the orange flavor nor were they open to seeing the credit card transaction showing the market and the exact amount it costs for a Yerba matte. Luckily the manager just let me walk off but it was humiliating for security to bag search me and walk me up and down the front of the store.

This Safeway had been dealing with rampant crime issues for a while. Unfortunately, their attempts to stop the crime has resulted in a miserable shipping experience, so bad in fact, that Ive stopped shopping here.A few things worth highlighting:• I feel like Im being treated like Im a criminal from the moment I walk in the door. There are multiple security guards with bullet proof vests at the entrance, and you have to go through a 1-way gate to enter the store. There is a second entrance, but theyve closed it permanently• They added long metal pipes to the shopping carts to prevent them from being taken out of the store. If you buy a lot of groceries and cant carry them all to your car, you are just SOL and will have to take multiple trips.• They literally installed a giant flood light in the parking lot that has a speaker system blasting music to deter people from sleeping in the area. I think they may have turned the music off recently, but the flood light is still there.• They have cut back the hours they are open and now close at 8pm, which is just too early. The small corner store next to where I live stays open later than that!• The final straw for me was when they removed self checkout. It now consistently takes upwards of 20 minutes of waiting in line to checkout. There is no express line either.This is the closest grocery store to where I live, but I will be taking my business elsewhere until this store can get their act together.

Its great places but management need to do something about parking issues traffic control. People park over night illegally and day time yet I dont think store do much of it!! Or dont have much support. Homeless are outside bagging for money or food and around the street theres drug homeless most of time. Customers and staff members should be feels safe 🙏🙏 to coming shopping or work!! Customer service here is generally non existent. The employees just look at you like youre a zombie. Untrained rude cashiers that do not listen to you as you instruct them on how to bag your items. Unhelpful management. Also they took away the self checkout because of all of the theft but this just causes massive wait in line and constant irritation during check out. Shelves never properly stocked. Items in wrong places. Totally bad overall grocery experience. Minus 5 stars.

This Safeway is fairly organized and the line for self checkout usually isnt too long. The store is cramped but thats to be expected. The parking lot is pretty dodgy with people often loitering particularly over by Popeyes. Staff or security guard has never said thank you, have a nice day, etc but Id probably be pretty miserable if I had to work in this grocery store too.

Listen up, folks! Ive got a story to tell about my recent trip to Safeway in the Filmore area of San Francisco, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride.I walked in and was immediately greeted by a whole squad of armed guards stationed throughout the store. I mean, I get it, they need to protect their merchandise, but it was like walking into Fort Knox. I half expected them to pat me down and check my bags. Not exactly the most welcoming environment, if you catch my drift.But once I got past the security detail, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and well-stocked shelves. They had everything you could possibly need, from snacks to cleaning supplies to even fancy cheeses. And let me tell you, I love me some fancy cheeses.However, my excitement was short-lived when I realized that half the products required an employee to come and unlock a case. Seriously, even the shampoo and laundry detergent? Come on, Safeway, what are you trying to protect, the Hope Diamond?I had to wait for an employee to come and open the case, then retrieve the item from a specific check stand. It was like a secret spy mission just to get some Tide pods. But hey, at least it made me feel important.Despite the hassle, the checkout process was smooth sailing. The staff were friendly and efficient, and there were no long lines to speak of. Plus, the prices were reasonable, and there were plenty of deals and discounts to be had.Overall, my trip to Safeway in the Filmore area was a mixed bag. On the one hand, the environment was clean and well-stocked, and the checkout process was a breeze. But on the other hand, the heavy security presence and locked cases were a bit of a hassle.So, if youre looking for a shopping experience thats equal parts spy mission and grocery trip, Safeway in the Filmore might be right up your alley. But if youre like me and just want to get your shopping done without feeling like youre on the set of Mission Impossible, you might want to look elsewhere.

Gloomy feeling to shop here nowadays, but everyone needs food to eat right?Ive seen more than a few homeless people abuse this store as a free pantry by just grabbing food and eating it nonchalantly in the store or shoving products into their clothes keeping the security wearing body armor constantly busy running through the aisles and around the front doors.A couple of aisles are entirely locked up behind cases presumably because of theft issues.The staff are mostly locals and are about as friendly as can be expected considering the ambiance of crime, drugs, and violence surrounding the store.This is an essential store in this area and the most convenient Safeway on the Geary corridor but security issues make this store feel unsafe especially around the parking lot & after dark.

Good and nice grocery shopping store, I like it fresh bakery items, chees fresh veggies n fruits, sandwiches, chips, frozen foods, fish medicines, every thing and dedicated pharmacy ( where a great experienced men and a Asian and chines women) make it great because they talk like very soft and in lovely way, thanks Safeway, also customer service good n Starbucks is also there.Today 04/18/2022 we have tried many Oat milks but this green chobani Zero suger milk is outstanding for suger patients, dairy allergy patients as we tried and get best results.( coz I’m a diabetic patient n my wife has dairy allergy, but after using this milk my suger is normal n my wife has no dairy allergy.

I shop here all the time, the deli has good food and theres always something on sale. Love $5 Friday at Safeway. They changed the layout, only have the doors on Webster in operation due to thieves they also close early because of them. Cant go anytime you need something. The plus is their Asian section has more, I can get my bubble milk tea in a can there, my favorite Japanese ramen, a good selection of sauces and pork belly. Dont know where the moved the Revive to, its my favorite kombucha soda. Still a great place to find most of what I need.

My hotel in SF is near Whole Foods Market, but i walked more far to Safeway because last Sunday I have been to picnic at Dorores park, and i shop at that branch made me such a good experience, but today and this branch is toooo different, today i went to this branch around 6 p.m. need to buy nuggets and fried chicken, i saw both of it, but i walk to other corner and back to this counter within 3 mins, nuggets is gone, i understood because i think that time is almost finished job for staff in the kitchen, But when I tried to point to the fried chicken still in the box. The staff, an elderly woman, cursed me rudely in a very loud voice. because my feet accidentally crossed the line in the kitchen counter (because at that time I had to hurry and point out which one to take because they are about to throw it all away Causing to accidentally step a little bit), with a gesture like I went begging for free, And many insults, when i received the item So I informed her that she helped to be courteous to customers. with a polite voice (Because I dont think I did anything wrong. I just wanted to go get some food) but what I got was that the staff yelled more and more cursing after me. (Can be confirmed by another female teenage employee inside), And when I want to buy the vitamins that are in the cupboard When calling the staff to open the cabinet Employees came in dissatisfied. and opened the cabinet door violently. The expression on her face was very dissatisfied, even though i had not asked for any help. or any talk (There are 3 customers waiting to buy things in the kiosk. Everyone has the same event and experience.) I dont know why i must have met this situation in this Supermarket, but i think this is the worst service, they should train staff more about EQ and Service minded.

This entire Safeway has been so aggressively set up around security and preventing shoplifting that it’s basically made normal shopping here impossible. Shelves are always out of stock, there’s 30+ minute long lines to check out, it’s just terrible.The final straw is that they just took the 6 self-checkouts that were the only thing making check out even remotely timely, and completely removed them. The checkout times are now on average 20-30 minutes long for the express line, even with a number of lines open.The prices here have never been competitive anyway, so at this point I’m just going to be shopping at the locally run small stores (nijiya, woori, and jaeho market) which are much better anyway.

The Safeway is all right this one is kind of small but they pack it in well Easy bus access and they open until I think 11 maybe even later but I would guess its actually 15 minutes before the tournament say they close cause the security and they tend to have longer lines right here No self check out Starbucks open in the only like peak hours They have a good clearance section here too. In a somewhat sketch neighborhood keep your head on a Swivel for sure. They need more cashiers and theres a lot of other m business in the same city block here too. Lots of resources for sure. And the main sf bus comes through here the 38 geary bus.

Unfortunately this Safeway now has around 2/3 of their products locked up in large see-thru cabinets. If you want something that is in one of these cabinets - you ring a bell and an employee will appear to ask you what you want. It will then be removed from the cabinet and taken to another locked cabinet across from the cashiers. About 8 1/2 times out of.10 I forget to ask the cashier for my item(s) and go home without...Also when I first started going to this Safeway (approximately 26 yrs ago), it would close at 12:00 a.m. every night. Approx. 12 yrs ago it suddenly started closing at 11:00 p.m. About 3 mos. ago it started closing at 9:00 p.m.I understand why; its because of the VERY LARGE increase in thievery.I for one think there are better ways of solving this problem.

The store Itself is great but the huge parking lot is a mess. I circled around although I didnt see broken glass debris on the ground but several group of people gathering here and there that feels like its some sort of territories and bases. Few spots with trashes and rubbish furniture around. There are few seems less fortunate homeless here but they are not main issues here.If stores in the plaza dont handle it timely, they might be forced to close their stores just like other famous stores in other SF areas.Feel very sad that the Japan town right across Geary St is super crowded everywhere with totally full parking lot and people dont park here even this huge parking lot is 40% empty.

Aside from copious amounts of thieves fighting with the loss prevention constantly, this Safeway is not as thoroughly diabolic as some of the other ones are in SF. I have even seen local high school students (from Lincoln HS) come in 50 deep during their lunch period to just take whatever they want. The management needs to realize that without consequences that actually mean something, the blatant thievery will continue....Nobody wants to see police and/or Safeway LP fighting with thieves in the entrance to the store. Often times the thieves are belittled and held down illegally against their will. Security laughs at them. Ive seen security rip clothing off of homeless people. One man couldnt get his shoes back from the security guard - it was freezing out, and the man said he had no other shoes. I even saw one older gentleman in his 70s WHO WAS NOT HOMELESS get maced by security one night shortly before closing the store. Allegedly he asked for the milk was and he was standing too close to security so the guy maced him.The aforementioned security guards have to be held accountable just like the thieves have to be held accountable for stealing from a grocery store..In addition to not wanting to see fighting at the entrance, I, for one, dont want to see fellow SFers stealing food because theyre hungry and they cannot afford something to eat.The system is broken. We need more drug and mental health treatment for people that are stealing, in particular the people that turn around and sell the products they steal for drugs. I cannot imagine how hard it is to live on the street, but I CAN imagine why people on the street get caught up in drugs and choose to continue doing them. They get treated like absolute sh*t EVERY DAY, REGARDLESS OF THEIR MORAL CODE. That must wear them down, whether they have the ability to notice it or not.MANY Safeway employees are also SFers. Thus there MUST be a better way to help people in need of so many things that are acting out for a variety of reasons. Lets all come together and figure out what we can do to help people each other. After all, remember that MOST OF US are all one paycheck away from being homeless ourselves.

Safeway used to be my place for groceries but I do not like to go there anymore. Lots of their products are now locked so you need to wait until someone comes to unlock the product (which in my last three attempts no one showed up so I left the store). Just be ready for the hardcore process they have in place to purchase key essentails. I believe there has been a history of crime based on the proximity to the projects. 1) locate the locked cabinet 2) ring the bell and wait till someone arrives 3) point at what you would like from the locked cabinet, quantity, etc. 4) clerk will walk your items to the checkout 5) scan your items for you 6) then you may pay and they become yours.... Truly absurd and you basically need a personal shopper to get your grocery run done. I walked in as an out-of-towner staying in a hotel thats walking distance away... Maybe its a known thing...

So let me start by saying, this review is being submitted after my third shopping experience at this particular Safeway. I make that clarification for two reasons, the first being that in order for me to get a good feel for a store, enough that I can write an accurate review I like to go a few times Also every Safeway is different soby no means is this review a reflection on all Safeways. All three times that Ive shopped here there has been a large presence of unruly homeless individuals out front and inside and all three times there has been some conflict between security and one or more patrons. Its San Francisco and were dealing with homelessness just like all other large metropolitans so thats not a problem for me this is a problem though these individuals tend to be violent and aggressive. Tonight a gentleman tried to walk in with two dogs, my new not chihuahuas but like pit bulls. He was politely asked to not enter the store with them. To which she said some explicitives and just continue to March into the store security warned him another time and then it became aggressive with the dogs out of control. At which point other homeless individuals went up and down the aisles taking whatever they wanted not rushing either just picking items up and they walked right out the store. This is the first time that theres been aggressive dogs but the prior two times same thing homeless people just taking their time shoplifting and security cant do anything about it. It makes you feel unsafe when youre walking outside because theyre all gathered out front. The staff are as friendly as can be expected considering that circumstances. Its annoying when they start announcing at 10:30pm that the store will be closing in 10min and for all customers to finish shopping and make their way to the front registers. Customers not in line by this time will not be allowed to check out. REALLY!? Two weeks ago I showed up at 10:45pm and was told they were closing in 15min and no other customers were allowed.

They technically close at 11 but they have security stop letting people in just after 10:30pm. Got shut out a few days ago along with a much of other angry potential customers. No reason given.I get it, the employees want to go home on time—they make this PAINFULLY obvious if you are lucky enough to make it info the store anytime after 10pm. I worked plenty of cr***y minimum-wage jobs thru high school/college where I almost ALWAYS stayed well past my shift—big deal. Only difference is I was expected to do it with a smile while being just as kind and attentive as I wouldve been if they came in any other time. You know, like it SHOULD BE.Tonight I walked in right at 10:30pm and I was immediately accosted by 3 security guards in bullet proof vests (overkill much?). The first one stopped me and just pointed upwards, making sure I heard the intercom announcement about the store closing soon. Yeah dude, I got it, whatever. Then another one barks at me that theyre going to look thru all my bags on my way out, because its the new policy for everyone apparently. I just turned around and left. The best part —one of the same 3 guys still tried to stop me on my way out, until I reminded him that I NEVER EVEN MADE IT TO THE SHOPPING CARTS.Church & Market Safeway had a problem with homeless people and theft, too, & they were able to get it under control without all this insanity. This is a smaller location so whats the problem? As a woman especially, I felt VERY uncomfortable, and would never EVER spend money somewhere they treat PAYING CUSTOMERS like PRISONERS.Avoid at all costs!!!

You can find everything you need. The deli is plentiful. The restrooms can be a long wait at times. Often times you end up waiting for a junkie to finish up and come stumbling out. The single occupant bathroom can be soaked with urine. Clothes and other odd items get left behind. The door doesnt close properly, so you have to give it a good slam! The pharmacist there, are more then helpful. The people that work the produce know their run. The flavors, the switch in inventory, the deals. The butcher, knows the in and outs. Want a deal, kindness goes a long way. Shop after 8pm less crowded until around 10 pm when self checkout closes. Plus there is a bathroom... Repeat 1 bathroom... This is my local Safeway and is by far the worst Safeway in San Francisco. The store is operated like a police state by necessity. Shelves show the results of obvious mass looting by shoplifters and it is often very difficult to get everything one would expect to be able to buy at the grocery store because so much of the merchandise has been stolen.I dread going here and often will travel much further distances to go to better Safeways.Its very common to see physical confrontations between shoplifters and store security which just makes the environment unsettling for everyone.

Its an infuriating experience to shop at this Safeway. While the majority of customers pay for their groceries like normal people, on every occasion I see at least one instance of high-school aged kids blatantly walking out with whatever merchandise they desire. I must say that the authorities should take notice of having such rude, aggressive, irritated, irrational, racist security guard being employed and carrying (weapons). I ignored him, and on our way to go and find stuff that we wanted to buy, I encountered him again literally starring at us with anger and hostility. He seemed really agitated and annoyed and was giving a really angry stare to which I asked why is he starring at me and “ he just started being aggressive, and stared yelling at us! I politely ask him that i want to talk to the manger and he started accusing that i am the one who is being the problem and said “get out of my store”. One of the other guards (black) approached and he also came across someone who sounded like let me take care of these guys but when i politely told him what has happened, he changed his stance and tone and apologized and told me “ it happens”. I just have one question “ why should it ever happen”? This is unfair to the business ethics, customers experience, and just add negative connotation to the ‘Safeway brand’. My father is really disturbed by the incident and thinks that we were treated because of our appearance or ethnicity. He always have struggled to integrate into american society and experiences like this adds to that. I request to the leadership to please educate and teach employees to be respectful, responsible, and treat people the way they expect them to be treated. I am disappointed!

Its pretty crowed especially at night around 9:30-10:00pm is usually when I go if I get off late from work. The only thing is theres a lot of vagrant people in the store and its okay but theres a few that can be quite characters and cause a scene those that are mainly high or drunk. There is definitely police officers on site and they are definitely a force to be reckoned with, so you dont have to worry about any security issues. They seem to run out of items I usually buy, but then Im guessing thats everywhere mainly since covid-19. Staff is polite, bathroom is generally under the desirable level but dealable with. Masks are still mandatory fashion accessory. Beware, if you drove and wish to push your cart of groceries out to your vehicle, you must inform a manager and you will be escorted as carts can no longer leave the building.

All of the beauty and health products are locked at the store. They don’t have the staff who are willing to open it for customers. A whole line of myself and other customers were waiting for way too long for help from customer service to get items out. I went searching for someone. I encountered at least for employees who wouldn’t even look at me they just waved and shook their head no as if they didn’t even speak a word of English. Others told me I was they were on break. Others acted as if they were going to help but didn’t. I spoke to at least 12 employees and couldn’t get anyone to help find a solution.. This a convenient Safeway to go to in this neighborhood with plenty of free parking. It is also one of the larger Safeway stores and includes: bakery, deli, floral, Wells Fargo, Starbucks cafe area, Western Union, California lottery, etc. A wide selection of grocery items for both domestic and international palates. Sadly, like many retailers this Safeway location has had to reduce their hours given the prolific shop lifting and non shoppers wandering the aisles in the later evenings. Prices at this store are ok if you are a club member, but that being said it always pays to shop around because many staple items can be found at lower prices at Target, Grocery Outlet, Costco etc. Safeway is just not the same local grocery it once was since selling out to Albertsons group, who clearly have their priority focused on their investors and not on the customers. Same can be said for their club member program, which while necessary if you are going to shop here to get fair prices, is not a program that rewards customer loyalty like it once did.

I only come to this Safeway when Im in the area and need something, but I would never make the effort to visit this particular location outside of that. Its located in an area surrounded by a lot of section 8 housing, so the neighborhood isnt all the great. Some of them just stand at the door eyes glued to their phones, others more focused on talking to the Safeway employees about their weekend. I once walked in to witness a homeless guy shoplifting. The security guard there that day was alerted about this, but did nothing.My last visit here, I happened to have my dog with me for a walk. Since we ended up nearby, I stopped in to buy a few items at self check out, then put them all into my bag and started to head out. Right before I got to the door, I stepped aside to put my personal items away and get situated with my pup. But as I tried to walk out the door, the security guard there stopped me and asked to see my receipt and bag! This is the first time this ever happened walking out of a Safeway, especially this one. I asked why he needed to do that and he said that I was the first one at the door. 3 people had walked put before I did and he didnt bat am eyelash at them. Im not really big on chasing trouble, so i let him. I have never seen anyone look at the receipt and check my bag as long as he did. He looked at every item to make sure it was on that paper. My entire time in that store, I went directly to the items I wanted, then straight to checkout. I was wearing my work clothes with my name tag still showing. I had my 11lb dog in my arms while in the store. I gave this man no reason to walk up to me like this. I was very angry this happened. And when I left, i lingered for a bit and watched this security guard and not once did he stop anyone else.Maybe it was a race thing, maybe he felt like intimidating someone smaller than him. Either way, I was extremely disrespected and will be spending my money at another Safeway. I hope this location gets shut down anyway.

HORRIBLE. Some of the security guards profile by skin color and class. The last time I was there a security guard kept antagonizing a man and saying he would call the police. Not sure what this person did and he was at self check out, so I imagine he was not doing anything against the rules, at that time. Customer said he was not afraid of the police because hes been locked in the penitentiary a couple of times. At that point the security guard should have walked away because in escalating the interaction he put the rest of the customers in danger. I asked the security guard why he kept antagonizing the man and he could not give an answer. He could have easily just stepped out of the mans line of eyesight because thats what the customer asked. He said he was not going to do that. I called the corporate office to complain about it because my life was put in danger and they have not bothered to call back, after a month. I went back into the store to talk to the store manager and I never got a call back. This particular Safeway does not care about the safety of its customers and you put your life at risk when you go in that store. Safeway, if youre going to hire security guards they should be trained properly. If you cannot control the behavior of the people you have hired, then they should not be working with various people from various backgrounds. I am a community activist and a psychotherapist, so I say this as a private citizen and as a mental health professional.

I had my roomates dog with me and she was being not well behaved in the store...i kept her under control tho and the staff were ok with it. The security guards were awesome. I feel for them-its not the best part of town-but they still helped me when i needed it. There was no line to check out. The prices are standard San Francisco taxation but with some deals for the bay. The parking lot wasnt as trashed as it should be. All in all 4.5 stars

The employees at this store have absolutely NO idea what the term customer service means especially at the meat and deli counters. The meat counter staff are always grumpy and act like they are doing you a favor to even acknowledge your presence let alone actually helping you. The deli counter staff is even worse. There can be a line of 10 people at the counter with 5 staff running around doing things in the area but they will only have one person doing anything with the customers including getting their items and checking them out since at this store you have to pay for deli counter items at the deli counter. If they are going to require that, at a minimum they need one person working the register and one getting items for customers. Today I was the only person at the counter and had 10 items in my basket in addition to the two items I was buying from the counter. The staff member helping me refused to ring up all my others because she said she was too busy. Again, I was the only person at the counter at the time. Im sure they dont care but I will definitely avoid this store, even if I have to go out of my way to go someplace else.

Wider aisles, bigger selection than many Safeway stores. Plenty of parking. Starbucks and several Wells Fargo ATMs inside. Gourmet cheese section as well as regular service deli. Lines to get in due to COVID-19 move quickly. (If its the whole length of the store youll be inside in 15-20 minutes at most.)

What can I say, safeway is safeway! Lots of foods and lots of selections. They also carry firewood, charcoal, toilet paper etc etc, batteries and chords.

Don’t go to this grocery store!I honestly wish there was an option to rate in negative stars, or at least 0. I would give -3.Purchased some Organics chocolate milk from here 6 days ago. That would be January 2.Opened it, drank a glass next day and day after, thought nothing of it. Got violently ill both times after drinking the milk. Examined the carton and noticed that the expiration date readDecember 19.Gross, but thought “eh whatever, it happens.”Returned the milk the following day, January 5, to at minimum, inform them that their entire stock of Organics Chocolate Milk was expired by +2 weeks.The employee at the customer service desk (January 5 ~5pm) was borderlinerude, didn’t offer a refund (which I didn’t expect since the container had been opened), but did not even care at all about the stock being overly expired, nor did he/they apologize. All they said was “Well look into it.”Terrible customer service, but, ok, I’ve dealt with worse...Then, go back today (January 8), and the entire stock of December 19 Chocolate milk was still sitting there, untouched; except for maybe a few that had been purchased, and the addition of a couple new shipments.Apparently, this Safeway does not care at all when customers inform them of their expired Milk stock making people sick.Went and pointed out the expired stock to an employee (January 8 ~5pm), told them it expired a month ago, and that it has made at least one person seriously ill. She/they said “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that. We’ll have to look into that.” Then walked away. (To be fair, at least this employee expressed sympathy)Well, I will be sure to “look into” contacting the San Francisco health department to report this, because this is not ok.

Although most Safeway stores are very crowded, this one is only crowded during the lunch hour and between 5 and 7pm. Workers and cashiers are very helpful, gladly going to the back to look for an item you see missing from the shelf

Id wasted 35 of my day and very dissapointed, pricestag arent correctelly arranged. Waiting for an agent, manager not even customer service in charge took a good decision about my claim. Your people calling for assistance and they never show up. I wont be there again and tell my customer to be carefull because the big guarantee sign that you hang on top of cashier is not true.

This Safeway has been here for ages. The location serves the community here and even though the parking lot is always packed it still has a lot of foot and car traffic everyday and an easy and quick place to get food to eat when nothing comes to mind.

I used to work at this Safeway from March 19 to April 9, 2020. This appeared to be a good job, however, the store director (Eddie Chu) was a bad employer. As the boss of every staff member in that store, he is someone that expects perfection from employees and tends to easily get restless when even the slightest mistakes are made on the job. He fired me from Safeway less than a month after I was hired due to unsatisfactory performance during probation and other staff have said that Eddie is someone that tends to take advantage of his rights as an employer, and using them to call out staff who are only human. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, he is the employer of all those staff, but I think this is wrong. Do NOT shop here. Instead, bring all of your friends and have them all rally together to protest Eddie taking advantage of rights and firing employees over forgivable mistakes. He really just wants everything to be HIS way, so he doesnt care about his employees!!

The bathroom was out of order. :( :( :(Bought several bakery products, and all were very solid. I do believe Safeway consistently has better baked goods than Lucky.

Kind of dystopian. The management has turned the place into a penitentiary aesthetic. Chronically understaffed. I feel sorry for anyone that has to work here. Only reason I shop here is because it is close to where I live. They have me locked in.
