The clerks and tellers are so good at their jobs and very calm and collected despite having to run interference on the faulty self checkout machines. But it is not appreciated when someone from the deli comes to your register to imply that my credit is bad when the machine stops working instead of waiting for the clerk to come and reset the machine. The experience has left a foul taste and given me a resentment against a particular employee or group of employees. Each department should do their own job and not worry about the others. the clerk easily rectified the situation but dealing with a oblivious deli worker made me want to cancel the whole trip

This place has an extensive selection of food and beverages, as well as a full-service pharmacy. I was particularly impressed with the beer, wine, and liquor selection. On the 3rd of July with the place packed, check out was fast.Just went again (this time mid afternoon on a Thursday in August). I only went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Its clear that the key to a quick trip is to make sure your doctor has contacted the pharmacy and that the prescription is ready before going to the store.Ive lowered my rating by a star due to some outrageous prices I noticed during the short time I was there.

I just returned from spending my afternoon at Safeway in Auburn all to return a bag of flour, buy a bag of flour & pickup my wifes rx.NO ONE was working at customer service & 2 different people paged for a rep. I was then directed to return it at the register!At the register, I waited in line for 20 minutes because they had no help at the register. When it was my turn, the clerk didnt know what to do & wanted me to go to a different line so I told him to get me the manager. He decided it was better to ask another cashier how to deal with it and still he had trouble, another 5-10 minutes.Then I got to wait in line for the pharmacy. Two people in front of me & another 20 minutes to be told, please wait, we have one more being worked on.So:* Long slow lines at registers*Cashiers who dont know what they are doing*No customer service*No one to ask for help when you cant find something.*In 5 years, Ive not seen the same cashier at the pharmacy meaning the cashiers are usually inexperienced at the pharmacy.Compare this to Walmart or Nugget where I shopped earlier in the day:*Friendly cashiers at both stores who were ready when I was*Employee at Nugget who walked through the store trying to help me find something*Multiple employees in both stores asking me if I need anythingId rather pay more money than waste my time at this or any other Safeway store. I left the Safeway livid & frustrated at the total circus that they call a store.Im done with SafewayDONE DONE DONE

Tried Safeway delivery which is new for my area. Great service - ordered on Friday and was offered same day delivery even though the store is bout 30.minutes drive away. Delivery charge was minimal. I chose next day morning and it was delivered on time.Very few stores offer delivery to my town in the foothills - thank you Safeway!

Its a nice, big store. I always find everything I need. They have a big bakery/deli section. The down-side is the long lines. There never seems to be enough checkers.At least this location has two restrooms next to the Starbucks, inside.

I waited 20 minutes in line at the customer service counter behind a single person, I only wanted to get a few stamps because it was late out. The employee talked with the person in front of me for the whole 20 minutes and once it was my turn she put the close sign on the counter fully knowing I was next in line. The worst thing of all they were just talking, the employee wasnt helping the person in front of me they only talked for 20 minutes. I tried to call the employee over several times only to see them avoid me and duck their head. Complete waste of my time, and I now know why my wife doesnt even bother coming here. Customer service sucks, and I hope that no one reading this will go there just to have their time unruly wasted.

This location has superior baked goods, produce and flowers. I love to come here after work and get treats and food to bring home for the family.The curbside service is fast, friendly and convenient. Much better this time. Sale items that I wanted were in stock. Found some good deals that I wasnt looking for too. Sale prices are amazing on some items. They even beat Wallyworld and the staff is much friendlier and more helpful. Becoming my number one grocery store.

This is a good, clean and well stocked store.They have lots of hard to find items,the produce department is second to none in this town. The prices can run on the high side,but if you join the club you can save pretty heavy on certain items. Open late and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and on point. Overall its a great store,just keep an eye on the fluctuating prices.

Its a nice store. The prices are very high for regular items like milk, meat, and cheese but very reasonable for things like flowers. Very large freezer section. Thats honestly mostly all I buy there, and flowers for when the couch starts to feel uncomfortable.

Way overpriced, but at least its close to home as opposed to Walmart/Winco/Sams Club, etc down the hill. Parking is often a nightmare but I guess its all about timing since everyone and their mother seems to shop here... which makes walking down the extremely narrow aisles even more of a pain. Also, the restrooms here are atrocious-- I suggest staff maybe come up with a schedule for hourly cleaning if they havent already. Literally came in here last week and the entire single-user restroom floor was covered in urine. Gross. Only giving this place 1 star because the desserts and alcohol selection are pretty good and well-priced. For everything else, Im shopping elsewhere.

This place is super busy. Its a good store but all the surrounding stores have better prices. The deli here is below par. They never have enough people working and it takes forever to get one item, and its food is 15% too expensive. They dont have a ticket machine to let employees know who was there first. They have many self checkout lanes but they dont accept cash anymore. They wont explain why if you ask. It gets backed up because there isnt always someone to help the old people who struggle to use the simple to use registers. Employees here are not friendly or polite and would rather avoid you instead of helping. They do a semi good job at keeping the shelves full compared to neighboring Target. Target is rhe worst store in US history at keeping shelves stocked. A chimp could do better then the warehouse manager at Target. So stick with Safeway or Smart and Final or Bel Air. The biggest positive is the booze selection and availability.

Safeway is normally my go to place. Today not so much. There deli needs help in there management. After waiting by the hot deli case I received no help. I asked 3 people if there was a different line. I got a I dont know i think and the last one is a young guy who said whomever gets you. Then he looked past me and took someone who just walked up.

I cant really blame Safeway for charging more since they arent buying random stuff like Grocery Outlet or operating like WinCo to offer the best grocery deals in the region. Their focus is quality and its not too expensive compared to the next tier (the dreaded Whole Foods and Nugget Markets price gougers).Check out the deals available through their app. The first online pickup offer can save you about $35.The deli is the best part and you can get a good combo deal for lunch or even dinner ($9 in 2023 for 1 entree, 2 sides).The pharmacy has been helpful for free vaccines. They handled walk-ins.They also have some fairly exotic fruits and vegetables available to try out and overall their fruit and veggie section is suitable for most culinary purposes.

I have always thought Safeway was a really great store in Auburn, it had better prices and the same selection as the Bel air down the street....until I went yesterday...and the whole store reeked like fish....and I went to look for a few items that are not specialty items...they didnt have 3 things I was looking for....and I went to buy a 12 pack of Sprite and it was $13 for a 12 pack....I went to Bel-Air and found the items I was looking for and the 12 pack of Sprite was only $7.... I was blown away....I wont be going back anytime soon...Ill try again in a few months to see if things have turned around...plus I really like the sushi station at Safeway....hope that doesnt go bad too...

I went just to get the holiday sale on the 8 piece fried chiken . the two gentlemen at the counter were freindly and polite . got my order of 8 pc. 4 drums 4 thighs right on hot and crispy . i asked can i pay here its the deli right . no sir over there, the fairly busy check out lines but reasonable . did the self check ( not a big fan. ) but too longalready i got charged full price i put my number in it said member card accepted but it did not telll me no sale items . them being busy on the 4th it would a been frustrating to call assistance when i could right now already be on my way not still in safeway

Only needed Lucerne Belgian Chocolate Toffee Coffee creamer because our usual store didnt have it, and your store did. I bought 2 of them for my sister. Also needed canned pumpkin for my dogs digestion and you had 2 big cans.Had no problems at the store. Just went in and got my 3 items and got through the line quickly.

Shopped VERY late on a Friday night. My only complaint was that it was cold in the store, possibly due to a lot of restocking going on. I dont mind the boxes and activity of the stocking at all. Thanks to all at Safeway for the first rate job they are doing.

I love the food cant stop craving their selection. I always say the employee are so nice and the cashier is so nice and polite. They have the things you need for your cabinet 🗄️ and fridge. They also have good prices. They are so train on their staff at Starbucks inside Safeway. The Starbucks employee are so nice and they are well train on their drink. Like coffee ☕. Or anything that cold ❄️ or hot beverages.

This is the best grocery store in all of our! Super friendly staff and willing to go above and beyond to help you! The pharmacy is amazing as well this is where I get all my medications only because Si and Linda are the best those are the two pharmacist there and they are AMAZING! I recommend using their Pharmacy because they do it in a timely manner and they feel like family. I wish I can give more stars!

Good selection [visited 3 other supermarkets & Safeway was the only one with 2 brands of gruyere, (2 didnt have any).Clean, well-stocked & the usual Safeway organizing.Also, as usual, no staff on the floor & only one checkout open.Strangely, I didnt notice a lot of store brands [Safeway Select & Signature]. Their store brands are usually very high quality, so that was disappointing. I probably wont shop here much if they dont have the SSelect versions of frozen veg, pantry staples & crackers.

Management and customer service does not comprehend simple tips and takes attitude towards people that try and help them.Or atleast the people I dealt with.Try being polite and respectful to them and apologize for what issues came up prior, they dont care.They have a poor mentality on making the job easier for them and customers waiting in line behind a dasher thats holding the line up.

Bought water here multiple times over a span of a year. Anyway, water machines/dispenser behind the registers taste funny like the filters have not been changed. Either that or that the plumbing is giving their water a nasty taste. Better places I buy water at is either Raleys (slightly more expensive) or Sunrise (very limited hours of operation).

Well stocked and clean! Plenty of room in the aisles, unlike some of the other Safeways in the area. Great rewards program and coupons for their rewards club members. Even though it was a last minute trip to pick up some need items for dinner, when I saw the pharmacy was open and no wait, I figured I might as well see if they could squeeze me in for a flu shot and COVID booster since so many folks I know are getting sick. They took me right on in and I was back to shopping in no time! And Sai was super gentle, just barely even felt a pinch. This has become my favorite Safeway.

Great store, HUGE selection, even at midnight. They usually have really great club card deals. Its only a 4 because, your checkout people are seriously lacking. They come across as indifferent and downright rude.. how can you tell someone with a straight face that you dont know your own website? I needed help with their app and the digital coupons. Dont even bother stopping in for sushi.The sushi rolls here are typically very sparse and lazily made. Hardly any salmon, only tuna. They cover everything with sauce and extras to hide that theres hardly any meat, and the rolls are so loosely done theyre falling apart.Dropped to one star. Didnt even finish the roll I got because it was just so drowned in spicy sauce it was all I could taste and there just wasnt enough fish in the roll at all. So much for a quick, healthy lunch. Wont waste my time or money on this sushi ever again.

Not nice a nice place for the disabled. The parking lot and entrance is difficult. There’s a ditch in between car rows, then you have to walk far to get cart. Workers seemed mad and for the most part are not friendly especially the meat department. Had issues with pricing. It better now that the app has been updated.

Usually has sale items in stock. Unfortunately, if you go after 8 or 8:30, checking out can be more difficult. Not enough stands open. I waited 11 mins to get checked out. Self check out was not quick either.I will say things have gotten better since I last wrote a review.Sushi here isnt as good as the one Im use to in the bay area but the bakery section is good. Wish the bakery carried Greenlees cinnamon bread. And now they do!Staff is nice and helpful. Always checking in to make sure tou find what you need.

I ordered 2 dozen donuts; 12 pink with blue sprinkles and 12 blue with pink sprinkles. I informed the lady who took my order, they were for a gender reveal party. A friend picked the donuts up 30 minutes before my guests were to arrive. When she returned with the donuts, i was not happy. Who puts green, brown, orange and yellow sprinkles on pink and blue donuts? And, of course theres no time now to fix it. Thanks for getting my order wrong, Safeway. I will go elsewhere for the upcoming baby shower.

First time doing it all on line. Made it so much easier. However when I showed up to get my stuff it became super confusing. There isn’t anyway to contact them to let them know your there and there isn’t any online order pick up parking. It all kinda broke down and took me like an hour to get my stuff. Hope they get better at that. Otherwise I love the concept it was great for social distancing and no wobbly carts. Thank you Safeway

My husband and I went to the Auburn Safeway a couple of weeks ago to receive a COVID vaccine. Linda and Patty helped us. They were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I love Safeway!!! I had been doing yard work and thought that the poison oak had been cleared from my property. Well...its back and worse than ever. Safeway came through for me. The interior of this Safeway is very nice and clean. Plenty of shade trees populate the parking lot. Great prices and virtually everything is in-stock. The fountain soda machine has been shutdown since COVID-19, otherwise, 5 stars is appropriate.

Sometimes the sheer size of the store and the required work by the employees so demanding, yet there is considerable attention given as to how to make the items appealing to purchase, but also the organizational patterns established to make the merchandise handy to find show the extent to which the employees go to arrange items. Nicely appointed and a clean place to shop. The dont carry a couple of brands that I like and I find that I always end up in a line with two or three customers ahead of me. It isnt a bad experience; but nothing special either. And if the customer wants and is willing to pay for and requests the groceries be split into two bags... Please dont think youre doing them any favors by shoving stuff into one.

Love safeway always have this is my favorite pharmacy as well. Sai and another lady there are the absolute best!!! I love that I can find pretty much anything I need here except during the pandemic but I did notice how hard everyone worked at keeping it extra clean and keeping the stocks shelved to the best of their corporate abilities. As for customer service I would say only a few people are great at it. Never ask the young ones for help they are walking around in the clouds. The ones who have been there for a long time know there store and they never have a problem to lend a helping hand even when they have a line with atleast 6 full shopping carts!!!! Safeway is one of my favorite stores I go here first then holiday then raleys then smart n final and if they dont have what I need its save mart to grocery outlet. All these stores have something that one of the other stores dont. I barely ever step into bel air.

Service was great! I was there to do a western union transfer and it was super quick for the guy to do for me! Meanwhile I was on the phone with western union and my husband got a call from our bank saying there was fraudulent activity going on from a phone call that I had with Western Union. So I went to Safeway instead and it took 5 minutes, and it was safely done. Plus I bought 55 balloons 🎈 for my birthday and Im a happy girl. I shouldve gone to Safeway in the first place! I like the way the savings are set up. Dont have to collect points and get coupons in the mail. Always have an abundance of choices, and prices are comparable to other regular chain supermarkets. Great selection of fresh fruit and veggies, and bulk items.

This store is ohn ROUGH SHAPE.... the staff is also in pretty rough shape. Selection SUCKS and the building is simply too small and outdated to serve the needs of a Safeway grocery store. Parking lot is poorly lit and maintained and its just an overall bad experience.

Fair large grocery store. Not the cleanest or best laid out in Auburn - try Bel Air for that. Not filthy either just a generic large grocery. For locals: find your Holiday Market instead. Smaller by far but way cleaner, better organized and stocked in that smaller foot print.

I’m not one to write bad reviews but tonight did it for me! I was working earlier and needed to close up the restaurant I work at down the road. My fiancé messaged me that our 16 month old son, who is on lactose free milk, was out and I needed to grab some on my way home. I ran out in order to make it to the store before closing at 10:00 pm when I pulled up the time was 9:56pm. I thought for sure I’d have a minute to run in and out, unfortunately this was not the case the doors were locked at 9:56! When I knocked on the door an employee just looked at me and kept walking. It’s disheartening that those 4 minutes of them leaving work was more important than what some people might need when they should of been open. They’ve definitely lost a customer!

Great service! Prices can be high, but the products are *always* top quality. The deli here is always full of delicious and nutritious fresh foods, such as sandwiches, chicken, cheese and more.The bakery offers bread, doughnuts, and even cakes!There is also a Starbucks near the soda machine and soup vendor, of which has bathrooms.The pharmacy offers a variety of drugs for ailment from headaches to constipation.

The tall guy with grey hair that usually runs the front register in the mornings wearing safety glasses and gloves gets an extremely bad attitude and takes it out on me when I am purchasing groceries in his line. This morning he was practically going berserk because I was trying to read the display screen to see the final price of my items before entering my pin code in the card reader. Then he went stomping over to the coffee counter apparently venting anger. This has occurred many times but today was dramatic enough that I may reduce my visits to this store. I am normally a daily shopper here but I do not want someone elses negativity placed upon me. There is no reason to treat customers this way.

In an effort to avoid possible exposure to Covid-19, we opted to use Safeways delivery service for the first time ever.Expected to be delivered this morning between 9am and 11am, we were surprised to receive a notification that our groceries had been delivered shortly after 9am. We checked everywhere and found no groceries.Another notification that our groceries were delivered was received about an hour later. Again, no sign of them anywhere. The dog didnt bark so no one had been here.A short while later a notification was received from the bank that Safeway charged us for our order.A short while later....yes, another notification...from Safeway alerting us that, mysteriously, our order had been canceled, and provided a number to call. Which directed us to another number, which pointed us to another number, where a woman answered and performed the most basic functions of her job while maintaining the attitude that she was being inconvenienced.We were informed we would receive a refund within 5-7 business days and of course, a $20 Safeway gift card.We firmly yet politely and respectfully informed her that would be pointless seeing as how we intend to never shop there again. We also expressed to her wed much rather have our groceries. She tells us she can have them here by 1pm tomorrow and we let her know, respectfully, that we were hungry at that very moment.A brief...very brief pause as we consider waiting and then we declined and opted to allow them to hold on to our money for 5-7 business days at absolutely zero benefit to us.The woman then informed us that if we were going to be disrespectful then we could hang up. And, very very respectfully countered with the fact that wed been nothing but polite and respectful, respectfully of course.So our experience with Safeway delivery: theyre holding a chunk of our money for a while and we just had to venture out into the minefields of Covid-19 to get some groceries.Later well order more groceries from Amazon.

This pharmacy is the best pharmacy I have ever used. I recently moved into the area and had a prescription from out of stat that had to be filled right away, I had out of state insurance that made things very difficult to process and I was amazed at how hard the pharmacists worked to help me with my unique situation. as my medication is for a life threatening condition, I was relieved to find a pharmacy that I can depend on. This is about the store in Auburn on Bell Road. I normally am very complimentary about the large Safeways but with long, long lines and only 4 checkstands open, the wait was too long. The front manager kept calling for all courtesy service, then started calling them by name. I like the downtown Grass Valley Safeway best of the Safeway stores because it is a smaller supermarket. Sometimes the lines get to be a bit long.

Grapes are soooo sweet. I only buy my fruit from safeway they always have fresh sweet fruit.

HUGE store. Very friendly workers. The deli is amazing, with everything from fresh sliced meats and cheeses to hot & ready to eat meals.
