Safeway has such good deals I went to get the soda was buy 2 get 3 that is such a good deal plus they have scratches so if you like deals make sure to go on a Friday its 5 dollar Friday each department has deals so pick up an ad and check it out holiday times they have very good deals so dont wait stuff goes fast.

Dont come to this Safeway. They have people watch you go in and out of your car and tow you right at one hour of being parked in the lot, even if you are a customer. Shady business and do not care about their customers. Cost me $500 to go to Safeway. Will never shop here again.

Great little place to grab the essentials. Most of the produce is fresh and there is a wide variety. Admittedly, I generally dont get my produce here, but I do get my meat and snack on here. The variety is quite nice. Also one of the few places I have managed to find fat free mozzarella cheese, which is great when you are on a macro diet and need a bit more protein with no other macros. My regular haunt!

The smallest Safeway Ive been to thus far.Its very easily navigable, without the crowds found at other Safeways.Restroom is a single one - for everyone.Very clean, & w/excellently fresh produce.Parking for all vehicles is closer to the door than at other Safeways, & the parking lot is very, very flat, so both walking in & pushing a cart out are very easy.

4/16/23 - I still love my Safeway. Yes its on the smaller size and doesnt have everything the larger stores do. But.....it has what I need 99% of the time. Im also disabled and cant lift anything over a few pounds. I was able to find someone quickly and asked for help with putting a 30# bag of dog food in the cart. I was also able to get someone to help put it in my truck. Theyre really short staffed but in my eyes they ROCK. We (your customers) see how hard you work as well as the multiple hats you wear. You do it with a smile and care. Thank you for the excellent customer service.I love my Safeway. It may be a smaller one but all necessary cleaning supplies, toilet paper & tissues are in stock. Workers are all awesome and so friendly. Smaller store = less people shopping. And have been ordering groceries online when I dont have time to shop and orders have always been ready within a few hours. Best flowers, plants & fruit too❣️

I have been going to this Safeway for almost 3 years now with no problem. I always pay for my items, and Im friendly to those working there. During my last trip, I was followed throughout the store by a worker. When I went to check out, he followed and ensured I paid for my items. When I confronted him, he said I had put something in my pocket (spoiler alert: I hadnt).Its unfair to have been made to feel like a thief when I have never stolen a thing in my life. I understand they have to minimize thefts in their store, but this was not it.I will say, though, that my previous experiences at this store have been amazing, and the workers were always nice, helpful, and courteous. They always had what I needed. I would like not to let this one experience ruin things for me, but its hard to get over what happened. I appreciate the manager on duty talking to me afterward and trying to make things right. At the end of the day, though, I know they wont miss one customer.

This Safeway store is on the smaller side and Ive been shopping here for nearly two years. Its been consistently disappointing to find their inventory lacking in dairy items and bagels. Seriously, I havent come across those delicious jalapeno cheese bagels even once in the past two years and Ive always had to drive down to a different Safeway to get them. And heres a heads up: the bread they carry is often close to expiration, so make sure you check those dates before grabbing a loaf.

Small grocery store right across the street from SCU making it convenient for students. Prices felt crazy high to me but then again I’m from out of town so not sure how they compare to others locally. Pretty good food, alcohol & floral selection & but lacking in other areas such as beauty, bathroom & there’s no pharmacy. Also odd but there’s no carts ever. It’s almost like they’re non existent at this store, just baskets. The staff is super friendly & very helpful. Nice neighborhood store feel.

They seem to be having trouble getting and maintaining inventory. They must use a version of the Pareto Principal 20% of items equal 80% of sales. I must like a lot of the 80% that are slow sales items they do not stock. This most recent visit, I went for 4 things, they had none, so I left, went to Luckys, and got everything I needed.

Do not shop here. This is a private parking lot for which they are legally allowed to tow your car after one hour, but don’t tell you this. They actually dispatched a tow truck at 58 minutes and authorized the tow at exactly 60 minutes, giving you no warning. They obviously don’t want me shopping here, which I will never do again. This is a predatory tow situation, in my opinion.

Rotten food.I live very close to this supermarket and I bought a pack of franks past week. I didnt check the expiration date but I noticed a funny color. It was due 2 MONTHS AGO.Its not the first time I see something like that. I bought a cake months ago and I noticed fungus when I opened.Beware. Check the expiration date or better: go to other supermarket.

I was not overwhelmed by the amount of items in stock but the store was clean and accessible for the handicapped. I was truly impressed by the customer service. The line wasmoderately long but the staff were patient, nice and helpful. Also, the parking was good. There was plentiful door parking, as well as parking lot parking that had large enough sedan stales to not hit your door on another car

Amazing courteous help from a man whose name starts with T (I think). He helped me get the last can of tea (top shelf all the way in back.). When it turned out to be a flavor I was not looking for, he suggested another location in the store. Found 3 cans of what I wanted!!! Yay! Thank you!

Long lines for sure.Good produce, flower/plant section is solid, meats are surprisingly in their variety and quality, and anything college student related is on point. Holiday accoutrement are on offer for every season.This store is always a great people watching spot since it’s residents, college students, professors, and adjacents like me zipping through for firewood or milk.

Excellent store overall. Clean and well lit. Only fly in the ointment is the meat department. The department rarely looks fresh and well stocked. The weekly specials are hard to find (Im suspecting this is by design). Employees seem to avoid customer contact whenever theyre on the sales floor. Thank you.

The store has received a much needed remodel and now uses the Safeway app. Unfortunately the store still suffers from being so small and will either run out of items or just not carry certain items. The major positive though is for those searching for booze. They carry a lot of wine and hard alcohol.The store is clean and for the most part the employees are helpful. The store does get really busy at certain hours and there are lines for the registers. Overall the store is above average and 90% of the time youll find what you need.

This store is consistently restocking their shelves with new products. The service is great and friendly. They are one of the only stores that do not use bags, requests digital transactions, has plexiglas partitions, and everyone wearing masks.Its one of the safest places to shop.

This Santa Clara location is a disgrace to the Safeway brand.Ive been a faithful Safeway shopper for a long time. Their stores are clean, well-stocked, and have the kind of nice atmosphere that has been noted by other reviewers.In most locations, the staff is amazingly helpful and friendly.Why do we keep going back to stores or restaurants with a brand name despite widely differing geographic locations? We TRUST the brand.Well, I dont trust Safeway any more. Imagine opening a can of X, your favorite beverage. You take a gulp, and realize its ... badly spoiled, toxic. Will you keep buying X? Drinking it?What good is that nice environment, whats the use of all those nice products if I cannot PURCHASE them?Last night I had a basket that was already quite full - the result of 15 minutes of wandering the aisles.Then, alas... I realized that the lines were about 14 clients deep at each of TWO open registers. Of course there were about a dozen CLOSED registers. When I realized I was in for a half-hour (at least?) wait to check out, I sought management.The manager was nowhere to be found. One of the frantic (and innocent) cashiers stated that the mgr was off working on something. The other employee explained that theyve been cutting back hours.Interesting.Customers are not all that stupid. We learn that there are other supermarkets just 5 minutes away up or down the freeway. There are convenience stores 3 minutes away with almost everything that I, at least, needed.I was delighted to purchase my groceries from just such a local hole in the wall market, paying perhaps a small premium on the products, with NO waiting.So long, Safeway.

Safeway is improving in terms of selection, cleanliness,. layout and service. Five dollar Fridays are a.neat way to buy meat, and there was a nice selection of cold craft beers in the end fridge (I bought a 12 pack). If it feels like someone is watching you in the parking lot, theres probably good reason.Safeways tow contractor, Morris & Sons Towing, camps out in the parking lot taking notes and pictures of people coming and going. Once youre in the store, they quick-tow a car away in under 30 seconds, and the next tow truck is ready to swoop in and assume stalking duty.Ive been shopping at this Safeway regularly for 3 years and have heard stories of unnecessary and aggressive towing, but didnt believe it until I saw it with my own eyes today. Sadly, Id rather shop somewhere less convenient than have to always worry if my car is still outside.

This Safeway is kind of small but has most everything you need on a normal shopping trip. The checkout lines can get ridiculously long though. They really need to have more cashiers available because getting out of there can take FOREVER. Very organized. The Down side is they dont have variety of selection for ethnic/Asian seasoning and food. On a lucky day you may find fresh produce and meat. Their rewards program isn’t really worth it because of their overpriced low quality items. Cashiers are much slower than other grocery’s store, and they always seem to be in a grumpy mood.

This particular Safeway is very much defined by its proximity to Santa Clara University. Its small, very crowded on weekend nights, and it doesnt boast a particularly good selection of anything. (Breads in particular are quite scant.) Because of the captive student population just next door, they can get away with being somewhat subpar.If you need to pick up just a few things, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening, your best bet really is to go elsewhere. Otherwise, youre likely to find long lines filled with college kids buying booze or other sorts of party favors.

Unfortunately i was on lunch break when I decided to try an save a few bucks by buying hot food in safeway., Ive Boughton fried chicken here before, with great taste and crispness, todays chicken was not at all crispy what so ever, and the chicken alone must had about 4 different flavors, taste like Chinese food with other fried flavors... on a scale of 1 thru 10, I give a big 1, mostly oily and was not at all crispy, was hard as old bread crust.. to bad for me.. lost out in fried chicken and cost

Fruit bowls are always fermented tried to give the benefit of the doubt twice and both times it was old and slimy. My fruit bowl, 10mins after buying it, started hissing. You know the sound of a can of soda being opened, thats the sound that was coming from my fermented fruit bowl. I suggest checking the temps of where you store them. 🤮🤮

I have chosen to go to the Santa Clara Safeway near Santa Clara University. It’s a bit smaller and has a very nice produce department. They have all the staples at reasonable prices. Their meat department is pretty good as well. Plus your car won’t likely get dinged as it would at the MidTown Safeway in San Jose.

This Safeway is right next to Santa Clara university and therefore you have loads of students on here doing grocery. Theres nothing wrong with that except the fact that the staff is never able to open more than 2 cashiers. Therefore the line is always super long and blocks the isles in the store. Its a issue because this Safeway location is already tiny. Despite to that, they serve fresh vegetables and fruits and have almost anything else you could ask for. Theres also a Starbucks inside.

I used to shop at this location for it is close to my home until yesterday they towed away my wifes car who came there to buy some groceries and spent more than an hour in the parking lot. She has a receipt proving that she was there at this time yet it did not stop them from towing away her car after 1 hour of parking. 2:04pm they observed the car in the parking lot and 3:06 it is already towed! Judge for yourselves.Looking at Yelp here and Nextdoor, I see shes not the only one who suffered this outburst of towing at this parking lot.Unless you want to waste $315 or more rescuing your car from a towing company, avoid this place at all costs, just as Ill do from now on.

The ssfeway off the Alameda by Santa Clara University is by far the worse shopping experience one can endure. They are constantly understaffed and the employees they do have have little training so the checkout time is insane. Theres no point going there if you just need a couple items. Only go if you have a huge shopping list and alot of time to spend in line. The lines wrap around and into the food isles so you cant even be too selective on what your getting because it is so congested and blocked. They are even lacking on simply keeping the shelves stacked. I live a block from there and only go if I absolutely have no other choice. I drive 5 miles to another grocery store. By far the worse shopping experience anyone could have. Last time I went there I needed to grab one gallon of milk and a can of soup. I got in line halfway down the Soda isle. I was in line for 18 minutes. There was only 2 checkers open and no baggers. Sad part is, there were 4 other employees we saw standing around gossiping and having a good old time. The lady in front of me in line looked at me and said, by the time you check out, your milk will probably be expired!. Lol. It gave us both a chuckle. It was funny but sad at the same time

I am living right next to the market, and it never surprizes me to spent 1 hour for simple shopping. Even when its not crowded, you wait approximately 10 mins per customer in the line. I had a very unpleasant experience with an employee there named Monica. See is a checker and works customer service. I really dont understand how she got the job for customer service when she has absolutely no personable attitude whatsoever. I was definitely blown away by her attitude. She was very smug and completely brushed me off from the start. I couldnt believe it. I went there to send money via Western Union at about 8:40 pm on October 7, 2018. I asked one of the other checkers to call for customer service for me so I can send money. I waited about 5 minutes and then was told I couldnt send money. I was confused because I know Ive sent money up until 9pm before so he pointed me to Monica saying she said it was closed. It was important that I sent the money so I went to talk to her while she was checking to just inquire about whats going on. I politely said I need to send money and she gave me the most stuck up attitude Id ever experienced by someone in customer service. I mean there was no smile or any kind of courteous attitude to explain anything. She completely shut me down and with wild hand gestures telling me that Western Union is shut down at 8pm world wide. I said no that is untrue because Ive sent it up to 9pm before. Instead of her being kind about it she said well you need to go look it up. I could not believe the type of conversation I was having with her. I said Miss I dont need to look it up because I already know the truth. So she was not only rude, but fed me lies. Now the proper way to handle it would have been for her to say I am sorry for the inconvenience sir, but Safeway shuts down Western Union services at 8pm. I got the complete opposite. I felt like I was dealing with someone off the street. I had no idea they shut it down there by 8pm. But I did end up looking it up on Western Unions website and it does say that different locations provide the service at different hours. Some until 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, or even 24 hours a day. It depends on the location. The way she handled it from start to finish was utterly rude amd disrespectful and I did not appreciate it at all. I was already stressed out about getting the money sent amd then I had to deal with that. I said wow lady you have an attitude problem and walked away. I was very polite too throughout the whole conversation. It most certainly left a very bad taste in my mouth and I may never shop there again. Which is a shame because Im there almost daily shopping at the deli or whatever. She is in the wrong business and I believe she should be written up, demoted, or even fired for lack of how to carry yourself in a customer service position. Safeway I really hope you guys talk to her. After I walked out and got in my car I was still in shock. So I wanted her name so that I can make this complaint. Instead of going back in to confront her face to face I decided to call the customer service to ask for her name. It was about 8:50 at night so there werent many employees in there. Only 2 checkers and she was one of them. I knew it was her when she answered because I recognized her voice. She didnt even answer the phone respectfully or pleasantly at all either and did not state her name when she answered on behalf of Safeway. So I asked for her name. Instead of telling me at first she goes why well who is this. I was blown away. She was acting as if it was her personal line. I then asked the same question again. And then she said her name was Monica. I said thank you, I will be making a formal complaint about my experience with you and then hung up. Get her out of there Safeway. She does not belong there. I was disgusted with that whole experience. I never want to deal with her again...

This place has been terrible through the COVID 19 problem. No one is cleaning shipping carts or baskets. Their employees all have masks, but almost no one is wearing them! They either have them down attend their chin or leave their nose exposed. So if anytime in the neighborhood becomes infected, you likely caught it here. Very irresponsible.
