The pick up order always says someone picked it up even before I arrive. They don’t take the code and they say the order has been picked up. It’s a constant issue at this store. Everyone seems so incompetent, how do they keep making the same mistake when someone orders.

I only shop here because it’s close to home. The lines are often unbearably long and slow. You also have to wait sometimes over 10 minutes to get locked up items. And then they insist on putting it on the checkout aisle that they select. Tired of being penalized for buying high-end goods!(Update: Response to Safeway‘s comments. I started by trying to contact you directly, and every time I attempted to send a contact us email, it wouldn’t submit it and it just sat there. I wasn’t sure if it sent or not, so I attempted to submit it about 3 times.)

Today a man in the sandwich making department called a Blackman a monkey as he waved his knife and smirked at him. The black man’s wife and little girl was standing right there. Gladly the worker was removed from his duties and fired! Thanks to another woman who posted the whole incident live. Racism is bad, now you got to watch who making your food these days. Diamond heights need better people. The manager was great!

Very difficult to get service at butcher counter. After interminable wait, served by a sullen and scowling fellow. Unpleasant experience. At other times, no one manning the counter at all.Almost always long queues waiting to check out.Many items in stock according to the app are, in fact, not there.

As usual, the ad items are sold out. This is a constant thing with this location!?!?75% of the time I go there, this happens. I give up. And of course, Customer Service was closed too...Broken glass in the parking lot also says a lot, car break ins are common here.But hey, at least the staff are rude and unhelpful.....

Be sure to check your receipt. Lotsa bait-n-switch type weekly deals. Slow staff and very few smiles. If you have any concerns, ask for Angie or Feay.4/18/23 -- Happened twice more. Prices are marked on the shelf but are then always charged a higher price at the register. The checkers just shrug and say go see Customer Service, but theres rarely anyone at Customer Service. Its only a $1 or $2 on each receipt. Its not much but its so insulting and makes Safeway look cheap and greedy. How would Safeway like it if customers stole a candy bar or two on each visit? This is what Safeway does to us. And it doesnt get fixed. It just keeps getting more and more common. Just keepin it real, Safeway.

Open late, good selection, easy parking. Lines are too long and they arent always staffed well, but they are the best place in the area. Also the area is very nice to go walk after getting a snack here!Edit:They have stopped selling laundry detergent and instead have fake empty bottles but no actual Tide? So now I have to order from Amazon anyway with each trip.

Update as of 8/26/2023:This Safeway has become a magnet for thieves. Yes we can blame the incompetent City leadership for the unabated crimes (now conveniently labeled as misdemeanors), but Safeway has an obligation to ensure our safety as well while we are in their premises and especially the parking lot. Thieves stalking shoppers who are loading up groceries and are allowed to sail into the sunset. Black SUV thief on 8/25/2023. And this is NOT the first time - car vandalism and theft have been going on for many months. The so-called security people add insult to injury and do nothing thats proactive, preventative, or intelligent. Honest shoppers are relegated to being like sitting ducks.Posted around 2022:We live across from this Safeway. Every Saturday and Sunday morning, a leaf blower-type loud aggressive noise has awakened us around 8am and has disrupted our mornings. We have called a few times to complain, but the problem continues. We have also called a few more times (like today), but were placed on hold for a long time. Ive had to leave this review as you would not pick up the phone. Could you please do something about this out of courtesy for your neighbors, especially during weekends.

Pretty much every time I come here, the checker/bagger is so stoned they don’t know where they are, or they move so slow that I usually end up bagging myself, or they’re too busy having a conversation to pay attention. They will throw raw meat in with vegetables (happens every time actually) and most recently one of them rang up all of my items and handed me the receipt and just stared at me like I was supposed to bag then moved on to the next customer. Train your people better.

I thought this Safeway sucked. Ive been hearing for years that the Diamond Heights Safeway is so nice. I didnt have that experience. Its too crowded. You cant get 2 carts down the aisles next to each other. The shelves were bare in a lot of parts in the store. The gentleman working in the meat dept. seemed extremely annoyed when I asked about a product on sale that wasnt in the meat counter, because he had to go and make a pack for purchase. This Safeway is no better than the 1 in my own neighborhood...and it sucks as well. Definitely wont be going back to Diamond Heights Safeway!

They have redesigned the store and it is one of the cleanest Safeways I have been to. They are continuing to make improvements and the staff is very friendly. Its taken a while to get used to the new layout but it is pleasant to shop there. Now that I am used to the new layout, shopping is faster but they need more checkers! They seem to have all new checkers so I wonder what happened to the ones who used to be there. Such a shame.

This Safeway is tucked away up in diamond heights. Always has enough inventory and they make sure they have the best quality to match the quantity needed for everyone who patronizes this store, as well having everything accessible. Nothing is locked behind glass where you need to page an associate to come and fetch certain items.One of the last places that isnt overrun by people stealing everything on the shelves.

Not sure whats been happening to this store, but Im done, after shopping here for over 15 years. It used to be good and reliable, with friendly staff. its been consistently unstocked over the past few months, and this week they decided to move everything around, and it is a mess (including dumping lots of sales and seasonal items at the ends of the aisles in a haphazard fashion which makes the place feel like a dump). This doesnt feel like its just suply chain or delivery issues anymore: it feels like purposefully trying to kill the store so they can close it down. Really a dispiriting shopping experience. Im moving on to better options.

Not sure but this location was one of the worst Safeways in SF that Ive been in & Im a native born & raised! Stopped to pick up just a few items 4 days ago and most of the shelves were TOTALLY empty, just nothing but tags & no customer courtesy notes!! I know things are lagging due to Covid, but other SF Safeways Ive shopped at are not like this. Not to mention that this one has not been renovated/updated in years & is very old in appearance & lighting, however, the parking is great!Only going back to return an item that I just noticed expired in May of 2021...Really DH Safeway?!? :(** Two stars are b/c of the nice staff only! Way too often I have the same story: take an item with sales price only to find afterwards that the price is much higher (no, its not about member prices). Yes cashiers are friendly and usually honor the price indicated - but why should I check it every time? Hate those dirty tricks.

If youre the type thats looking for a little danger and excitement but dont know how to achieve that in your life, you should definitely go here! Not quite as invigorating as getting into an (intentional) high-speed in East Oakland, but hey...you can also check off picking up groceries from your list of things to do.Within the same shopping center theres also a Petes coffee, 24hr fitness, Sallys beauty supply, pet supply, Noahs bagels, smashburger, chase Bank, wells Fargo inside Safeway. Not as good as before - theyre missing office depot and radio shack. But I can guarantee you...the universe will be anticipating youre feeling a little sluggish and a quick burst of adrenaline will be just what the doctor ordered! Be sure to buckle up. Think twice before bringing your gun, because if you understand the theory of probability...you will likely have the opportunity to use it. Most likely, you will regret doing so.

Really crowded because of Thanksgiving holiday. This isnt my go to Safeway I just happened to be in the neighborhood. The checkers are nice and helpful at this particular one as opposed to some others🥴 however I watched a woman pay for a ladys groceries at the diamond heights location. She didnt have enough and wouldve had to put some holiday items back. Overall I prefer shopping at Safeway. Some things are a bit pricey then they should be though

Very efficient Safeway. Even though its located in a pretty busy area and the store itself is small, the employees work quickly so lines are USUALLY not bad. The rare times they dont have a lot of lanes open the lines are ridiculous though, like Costco length. Regardless, 4 stars because for the most part thats not an issue. Their selection isnt great, but they just dont have. A lot of space so theyre limited.

Since 2019 they have improved by leaps and bounds. Previously they often ran out of basic items such as milk, eggs or bread. This has changed and during the pandemic of 2020 they really stepped up to the plate and put customers first. Almost without exception, the employees at this store are very hardworking, dedicated and helpful. For a relatively small Safeway they do an excellent job.

They are handling the panic buying well. Was there on Sunday 3/15 at around 9am and employees were stocking shelves and keeping things moving. There were only two checkout lines going, though, but I think theyre going to add to the ranks during the shelter in place. Shelves were light on pasta and toilet paper, but not completely empty. Customers were not crazed, everyone was pretty chill.

This location is well stocked and the drive up and go is a lifesaver. I order on the Safeway app and 100% of the time they pick great produce. A few times some items were out of stock but nothing major. The inside is immaculate and there is also a Starbucks.

Increasingly chaotic, decreasingly useful. Nonstop renovations for no discernable reason and ever raising prices for the privelage of walking around a store that is mid construction.Today the entire produce department was dismantled to redo the floor. I just wanted some carrots and celery, but they were in accessable. The employees even said they were not allowed to grab them for me, dispute being just around the corner.I have lived across the street from them for 10 years, but literally do most of my shopping at Trader Joes several miles away because at least they keep things in stock, have reasonable prices, and dont force their customers to dodge construction during open store hours.

Awful experience. I ordered 2 days ago on Safeway online, one Turkey Thanksgiving dinner and one ham Thanksgiving dinner, I usually cook my Thanksgiving dinner myself but this year I decided to order from Safeway then I call 2 hours in advance to confirmed my order after receiving email confirmation . I arrived on time at the deli and surprised my order was not ready the lady at the counter only said to me one moment and went to the back she started talking to another employee 10 minutes past and asked them whats going on they said they didnt have my order . I asked to talk to the manager, instead she call someone on her cell phone and of course I didnt not about the coversacion she was having with the other person because she walked away, 30 minutes past and she grabbed a small Turkey and a ham that the use for the deli for the sandwiches and 2 boxes on Turkey dinner and told me that the Turkey dinner and the ham dinner are the same . I was like when in the world Turkey and ham dinner are the same I showed her the Safeway paper and read to her what comes with each dinner, I asked again to speak to the manager the only thing that I got from this lady is Im sorry its my fault...46 minutes past..she said do you want to cancel your order ... then I was like you dont even have anything ready the only thing she was just walking around . I even told her that I was expecting family over for dinner to celebrate an early Thanksgiving dinner.. but it looks like she didnt care...of course the manager never showed up at the counter..

Safeway is so much more expensive than a lot of the other grocery store chains. I always have to carefully check the eggs, and usually have to check a minimum of three cartons before I find one without at least one broken egg. The produce section is not very fresh. The staff that makes sandwiches and some of the express checkers are super friendly, and very helpful.

The Safeway in Diamond Heights is what I would call a medium to large Safeway, but its not one of those HUGE ones that have everything. But it probably has what you need.Deli section is okay, and they make decent sandwiches.Staff is personable and nice for the most part. And they have a mini-Starbucks next to the customer service area. Theres even a new make your own key machine that was just put in that people are using.Overall this Safeway is one of the nicer ones Ive seen, both in services available and a pretty nice staff that work there that are helpful if needed.

Safeway on the smaller size and definitely didnt have every item on my list especially sale items so guessing when items are on sale they are cleared out fast due to storage room but have also seen smaller stores so guess its a happy medium. Nice area however and would have gotten 5 stars but while was in a hurry the cashier was flirting w other employees and didnt notice me for at least 2 or 3 minutes

If you go there between 6am and 8am during the weekend, not crowded.There may be only one or two registers open, but typically not a long wait.Only issue I have is that over 50% of the time I may not find an item on my list and it may take a few weeks before its restocked.Still prefer this Safeway over the Market Street store.

This use to be a nice store, but since the covid-19 issue, everything has gone downhill. You rarely see anyone, stocking the half empty shelves.It looks like a market, in a third world country!The last time I shopped there, a security guy was fighting with a guy over a bottle of alcohol.I do hope, Safeway management reads this post, and checks this store out. I save money on gas at Chevron and at least $30-$40.00 in sales and Just for u deals every time I shop! Not too long wait before 12 noon! I walk Ernie in Christopher Field dog park & theres a playground for children, right there! Local market in an area without corner, neightborhood stores. Its this or Mollie Stones. This Safeway drives me crazy. They rarely have what Im looking for (standard stuff) and will drop a brand on a whim. Shelves have been particularly empty lately. Neighborhood grocery store that has just about everything. Its not as big as one of their flagship stores, but they have a great selection. Does have a tendency to be a little crowded and congested, especially early morning and late afternoon. Try to plan your grocery shopping during non-peak hours. Parking can also be difficult, as compared to the number of stores sharing the same small parking lot out front. You also may pay a few cents more for their items as they are in the middle of an upscale area of town.

Lots of selection. The prepared sandwiches were very good. Everything we needed, even after a walk in nearby Glen Canyon, stopping in for coffee and tea at Starbucks, was easily accessible. Very friendly and helpful service from the store staff as well as the barista at Starbucks.

About a 5 minute walk from my house, this store is convenient. This is one of the smaller Safeway stores in the Bay area, so you may not find all the products you would at the larger Safeway ( such as the one in Market street) by Church station. The staff is for the most part very friendly and recognizes me.

Safeway church and Market is crowdednand kind of crazy. The security guards can be overzealous but it is because (from what Ive heard) it has the highest level of theft in California. Small Safeway, usually minimally stocked so they run out fast. The Safeway isnt allowed to expand on the property. Produce is typical mediocre Safeway, Deli is fair. Reasonably easy parking, cars can get broken into around the 5-6pm hour due to local idiots. If you are closer to any other Safeway, go there.

My recent trip to Safeway at Diamond Heights was a disaster. They’ve decided to re-arrange every single isle during a pandemic, causing mass congestion and confusion. This store was already pretty packed, try it packed when you’ve made a list by isle that is now useless. They’ve also reduced a ton of product, leaving people wondering what to do. However, after receiving horrible service on 4 CONSECUTIVE trips, something needs to be said.- No greeting by checker.- Continued to scan my items while the belt smashed my produce.- Never offered to bag my items and stared at me, expecting me to bag everything, while trapped by a cart of bags.- Rudely failed to assist a disabled elderly woman with a question.All in a two min interaction.Peter needs some training in common courtesy, or a new job.Chain stores such as this have policies in place to assure that you receive a consistent level of service from location to location. The only thing consistent here is entitled, grumpy, gossipy staff with no light in their eyes. Sad, really.Bummer that it is so close to home.

Horribly laid out store so you cant find anything. Dairy, meat products, etc scattered all over the place instead of together. Produce is horrible (especially broccoli, and organic green onions coated in ice?). Staff is terribly unhelpful and cant be bothered to check if an item might be in the back of the store. I came to this location after getting fed up with the Market Street and Potrero locations and its no better. They all suck! Time to check out Whole Foods and see if the lower Amazon prices are factual.

My partner and I visited this location around 830PM to return a RugDoctor. The piece of equipment that we had rented was dysfunctional, leaking water, and created a larger mess. Lolly, who may have been the evening manager, was empathetic to our situation and provided a solution that worked for everyone. Thanks turning a not so pleasant experience into a better one.

Since Albertsons bought Safeway a year or two ago, slowly but surely the prices have risen and the selection worsened. The weekly sales have also become more difficult to take advantage of because they will discount a few varieties of a certain product but than leave the others of the same product at the non-sale price. For example, certain varieties of Lean Cuisine meals will go on same for 4 @ $10 but then displayed with the mix and match sale varieties are full price ones. Very tricky. If there were other places to shop nearby I would.

Diamond Heights Safeway changed isles locations and order. It is as if the isles were reordered (1 became 10 and 10 became 1) and flipped (items that were farthest from the entrance are nearest. Took a bit of time to adjust to the reorder. Also noted not as vast a stocking of items as before. In addition, check out isles have been changed, i.e., more than one 15 items or less designated checkout. All in all, a good shopping experience. Butcher and deli staff most helpful.

Not the worst grocery store Ive been to but definitely on the lower end of the scale.First lets talk about the rating scale. A five star grocery store should be well lit, nicely stocked, have plenty of parking, have a coffee bar, a good beer and wine section and a dope deli that will turn out quality sandwiches, snacks and burritos, organic produce and a butcher counter. Examples would be Lazy Acres in Santa Barbara, Whole Foods in Petaluma and even the newer Whole Foods on Market Street in San Francisco.This Safeway has virtually none of those options. The deli is generic. Theres often nobody behind the butcher counter. There is a starbucks, for whatever thats worth. The parking is alright. Theres a not-awful selection of organic produce. The beer selection is particularly sad. Prices are pretty reasonable.Like I said, you could do worse--its not an experience going here but at least you can get most of what youre after.

Not Covid safe. Too many people, no one paying attention to or enforcing lane directions, people completely ignoring 6 foot rule. One guy in the soup aisle was coughing and sneezing into his shirt - he was so sick. Shouldn’t they be taking temperatures? If a person has a fever, they can order online and have food delivered. I hurried out of there.

If this is for the Safeway at the Diamond Heights Shopping Center, it is the BEST Safeway in San Francisco.! The crew actually treats thier customers like they are friends and family. They remember that I wasnt feeling well and take the time to ask if I am feeling better now, or may remind me that I dont have something I normally buy which has saved me an extra trip to the store for that one item that would have been forgotten.However, if this is about the Church and Market Safeway, avoid that store like it is the plague, unless you like being treated like a criminal, or being disrespected and treated like you dont matter.

I was shopping last night for a customer and I was in it the alcohol aisle this was around 11 o’clock at night while I was looking at the app and the alcohol I thought somebody was staring at me and I looked up and it was the security guard literally right there practically just watching me at the aisle to see what I was going to do it I made eye contact with him and stared at him right back he continued to just stand there and look at me I said hello can I help you with Something. He said no and continue to walk away I was looking for the alcohol that the customer requested and I look up a kid there at the security guard was Filipino man still staring at me it made me feel uncomfortable that he was profiling me and continue to follow me throughout the store believe it or not Friday night 11 o’clock to stores really busy but he continued to only follow me and nobody else. I am just doing my job and trying to shop for my customer and to be profiled out of the other customers is not right. I usually shop for myself when I’m done with my shift I will not be shopping and spending my own money here at this store being followed and disrespected like I did last night
