Thanks to Angelica for the help out to the car. She was very nice and helpful. I just had surgery and lifting is a big issue along with trying to get the cart through the lot. I could see the store was very busy so having the option for the cart is greatly appreciated.

This lady called me from the delivery department and asked if I still wanted my order to confirm that I didn’t want it so it can be put back……. I said no and hung up. THEN I thought YOU MEAN the order that was supposed to be delivered to me at 6pm yesterday has been sitting out ??? And your telling me your jsut now going to put it back in the cooling units the next day at 10am???? Just a warning for you guys. They put delivery orders back on the shelves nearly a day later if it wasn’t delivered……AND MY WIFE IS PREGNANT! Trying to bring us left out meat…. Thank god we didn’t want the order

This Safeway store & their cashiers are 5 Star! Clean, well stocked, fast cashiers, great value and a wide variety❤️ The downside though ….The shopping carts are 1 Star because they are all broken. I shop 2-3 times a week, and the wheels on every single cart are always broken. It has been like this for quite sometime. Safety gets 1 Star because the people in front of the entrance door asking for donations makes me turn my car around and go to another Safeway. I have had the people 6 inches from my face asking for donations, it is unsafe for so many reasons and have had to be escorted out before. I’ve avoided going when I see them outside, but even then when they aren’t there when entering, they appear when I am exiting. I feel very unsafe, especially since my broken shopping cart is full, sometimes I have kids with me, and the under utilized doors slow me down even more. The cart even locks up when going to my car. Another 1 Star safety issue is the entrance and exit doors are never fully utilized, even during daytime hours. This must be a fire code violation. I only shop from 8am-3pm weekdays, so locking half the doors shouldn’t be necessary. The capacity of people entering and exiting are bottle necked, also while trying to maneuver their broken carts, trying to make way for the opposite traffic, and it forces customers to have to wait their turn to get inside and get accosted by the donation people. If both entry and exit doors were utilized, it would be safer all around. There are no other fire exits in the large building, both doors should be utilized during daytime hours.(And why are high school football players asking for donations 6 inches from my face at this Safeway on school days during school hours? 🤨)

This store has a very high delay on orders, they never take customers and drivers the way they should. The staff has arrogance issues and can even think about being proactive. There first approach is arguing their way out of anything without a pint a point or cooperante answers. The manager uses playful attitude to denied resolving anything. This Latina really think we are playing with her and everything is a laugh.

After they mixed up delivery items I never get another delivery again! Am I getting blame for their mixing up delivery items?Another time this Spanish woman ran ahead of me. I didnt even contest but they told me to go to the end of the line. I told them I was actually the first one there. After that, I noticed that I have not assigned delivery again? Why the Spanish lie and I get punish again?

This Safeway has a large selection. The store itself is big. Unfortunately the prices are high. They do have sales but you still pay a higher price than going to Grocery Outlet or Trader Joes. You just have to know what your looking for and stick to what you know.

This large Safeway store has a wide selection of groceries, plants, and fresh produce. Its relaxing to shop here, listening to the pleasant music playing in the background as you make your way down their clean, well-stocked, and organized aisles of food and supplies. I especially enjoy checking out the creative, cutely decorated cakes in their bakery display case! The grocery checkers are friendly and efficient, too!

This is definitely one of the better Safeways Ive shipped at in the Bay Area. It is clean, well-stocked and has a self checkout not plagued by the tremendous lag infecting the machines of other locations. There is also a Starbucks here. Im not too familiar with the availability of produce throughout the year, but when I visited in the late summer, it looked pretty fresh and like there was a good variety present.

Safeway is always the go to store. Big or little that is my spot. Since I cant put new reviews in,I will update this one. Why doesnt Safeway teach the courtesy clerks to bag groceries correctly anymore. When I was a bagger I had bagging school at the San Mateo store for 3 days!

It’s big and has good selections of products, but the only complaint I have is since you have such big space, why you makes the self checkout area so small with such bad flow? The self checkout area probably can only fit three shopping carts at once!!!

For you that are familiar with the area this location was formally a K-Mart then became a Pak-n-Save supermarket.Great convenient location with lots of parking and also has a Starbucks inside. Store is always well stocked and very clean.Would’ve given 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that you have to bag your own groceries. This was common when the store was a Pak-n-Save, as per their previous name. You pack your own groceries and save. LoL This has got to be the only Safeway that has their customers pick their own groceries.Did I mention they got cup holders on their shopping carts? For that, this is the only place I do grocery!

I really enjoy shopping at this Safeway. I actually drive from my home in SF to this store for a more pleasant experience. Parking is easy-peasy (it doesnt share the lot with other stores). Plenty of shopping carts available. And hardly anything is behind lock and key! I really can’t stand waiting for someone to unlock items and then standing there while I try to decide what I want. I don’t have to at this location, unlike most SF stores. 5/5

This is my go-to spot for grocery shopping because I know where everything is because Ive been going here for so long. They are always fully stocked as well. So if Im ever looking for something in particular, they have it.Try to avoid going on the weekends or after work because it does get crowded. To the point that they may not have a shopping cart for you to use. Usually, Ill ask someone who works there and theyll find one for me. Thats how good the customer service is.

Large Safeway thats well maintained with a great selection of fresh groceries and produce, including organic and plant based products. Lots of parking with friendly and helpful staff. Their online ordering app needs a bit of improvement though. The notification system via the app to let them know youve arrived for pick up doesnt seem to work very well but is still overall fairly a convenient option if you dont have time to run in and shop in person

I would say I go to this location because its convenient I also feel like they have the friendliest staff, everyones always upbeat, kind and helpful. Its well-lit and safe and I do feel like the store is clean. The only drawback is they are out of items quite a bit but I cant necessarily say that is Safeways fault since a lot of places are out of items due to supply/demand and shipping issues.

Long lines and more clerks needed to bag grocery. The transition from pack n save was great but I had to walk through the parking lot today just to get a shopping cart since none were in the corral near the entrance door.Still long lines skip this place if you can 8/6/17 7pm. This is my first time in this Safeway and I must say the store was exceptionally clean. They had a secure area to return shopping cart so they wouldnt roll away. They had enough check stands open so no one was really waiting in line. I would definitely return to this Safeway again

I really enjoy shopping at this Safeway. The only reason for the 4 stars is that there is a remodel going on in the store and some shoppers might find this uncomfortable. I do not, but if my landlady was shopping with me, she might.The produce is fresh and top quality, with local products too. They have a nice herb display.The meat market is well appointed, with lovely fresh meats and fishes.I appreciate that in addition to the fresh bakery, there is also a large gluten free section.As a matter of fact, foods for those with allergies are in abundance.The handicapped carts work and I have always been able to find one.The employees are knowledgeable and courteous. I had a nice chat with the manager and then found out he was the manager.This was a good shopping experience and worth the few extra miles.

Terrible experience at the bakery section. The lady seemed prejudiced and was frustrated by my basic questions about the cake order process. Very humiliating. Needs more diversity training for the staff. Where do they find such impatient and rude employees is anybody’s guess. Great store, but needs better process of hiring.

Been coming here with my mom since I can remember. The remodel made such a difference and it has remained one of my favorites. The Mercedes dealership next door is different but hipsters have to live somewhere. Always clean even after a long day. Never a long line. I cant complain, for once. Thank you!

Great service, location is convenient, customer service is friendly. They are helpful, a lot of different varieties, I get good deal in produce and meat. Just for you coupon reward system is a enormous bargain and save me a greater sum of money, recommend the just for you coupon and personalized deal in the account. Safeway provides free item and discount regularly. There is weekly deal and free reward to redeem. The check out line is ok, still need to wait a bit. Self service line is also busy. A long wait.

First time here since they converted this store from Pak n Save (discount Safeway store) to a full Safeway and was a little disappointed that the decor inside didnt really change much, still looked like the warehouse it used to be, just less jam packed. In fact, a lot of shelves and displays were empty and was in disarray. Its alright for very basic items but Ill stick to my usual Safeway stores.

In terms of a Safeway its just like any other store. My issue is that they dont seem to care if customers dont wear a mask. My last two visits to the store Ive seen at least one or more people walking around without a mask. Even the woman at the customer service counter doesnt seem to know that a mask goes over the nose. When I let her know that there were two people in the store not wearing a mask she more or less blew me off as she said shed give them a mask while turning her back to me and walking away. She made attempt to do so during the remainder of my time there. Ill probably just shop at a different store from now on.

It was good overall, the self checkout could have been designed slightly different to avoid a bottle neck of customers attempting to get to the next available checkout. The dairy section had the eggs also in a kind of bottle neck zone in a corner where as popular items that are likely to have a high volume of foot traffic would better be left in locations that have a thoroughfare.

This used to be aPak & Save. I visit this store regularly and there can be some incredibly long lines but, it is a well organized ( recently, within the past 2 years, reordered the aisles and lroducts) clean, everything in its place store, which I value. They have decent prices and sales. I use the Safeway app and as a cardholder, each week I get special sale prices on things I buy most frequently. The staff, overall, are helpful and mostly pleasant. All of that being said, there are some things I dont buy here, such as T.P. because I make periodic runs to Costco and you cant beat their prices for most household items. They also have a Starbucks inside (not a fan of this particular Starbucks, but thats a whole different review). Seems like theres always a lot of cars there but that doesnt necessarily mean the store is really busy, which boggles the mind. The quality of their fruits and veggies is not consistent and when there is a big sale going on, I feel they are not efficient in keeping the sale items in stock.

Ive stopped shopping at any San Francisco Safeways because they are dirty, dangerous, or rude. This Safeway in Westbourgh is what a shopping experience should be. Its clean, well stocked, friendly workers whom are eager to help. Nothing is locked up for security reasons, so its grab and go on to continue shopping. I highly recommend this Safeway.... its worth the extra miles.

Large produce section but I honestly dont buy produce here because I think its overpriced for the quality. Bulk bins, bakery, deli and even a butcher! Conveniently theres also a Starbucks, bank and an Amazon locker inside. Big parking lot!The Cons: Occasionally price tags are missing or an item is in the wrong area.Restroom needs to be tended to more often.As stated above, produce is overpriced. Lines can get really long at checkout.The pros definitely outweigh the cons and I never have trouble finding help. Today in the checkout line i saw the disrespect and discrimination of all the employees at the gellert blvd store in south san francisco, around 11:10 pm a white guy with a backpack on his back was trying to pay the bill and the card was being refused, at the same moment an Asian man who was at the cashier already took all the bags and took them away from the guy, on the other side behind the service desk two Asian employees started filming the guy, Im Asian and I felt really bad for being there, the guy was trying to pay for his purchases, if he wanted to steal he would have stolen and not tried to pay, I live around the store for 5 years I always see this happening in the store with other Asian customers well and poorly dressed and people are always very kind, today I I felt very bad witnessing what happened. I will never come back to this store

Surprisingly large and very clean. An impressive alcohol selection considering this is a grocery store. The few times Ive been here there always seems to be something not working properly with the registers. Once the scale wasnt working so anything that needed to be weighed couldnt be purchased (to be fair, it was only the scale in my line, but the store was busy and there was no way I was going to get out of line and back into another). The lines can be long at certain times and like any other grocery store there are way more checkouts than there are cashiers. Ive never understood why a store has 10 checkstands and only 3 cashiers.

Worse experience ever. Went in to grab a few things for dinner and when I was checking out one of the items wasnt registering so the lady asks someone to do a price check. I was patiently waiting but after about 15 min or so and multiple trips to the back from the young gentleman assisting they still were unable to figure out how much the item was. At this point the assistant brought me to the front desk to try and resolve the issue of which I said I was done and expressed my disapproval.My suggestion, dont make things more difficult than they are and if not able to figure it out in a timely fashion opt to give said items for free, basically a simple honest gesture for the inopportune moment and the (my) customers inconvenience!

Store is large and well stocked. Cashiers are efficient and friendly. My only complaint is that on a lot of items, even items that are on sale are over priced. Take for instance Marie Calendar chicken pies in a four pack on sale for $10.00. Grocery Outlets everyday price for the same exact item is $8.00. Because of their higher prices I shop for sales and comparison shop at various supermarkets instead of doing all my shopping at one store even though its inconvenient. Although I waste gas shopping at different stores, I still save money overall.

After renovation, this store becomes more upscale look and feel. A new Starbucks booth is set up. Shelf layout is totally rearranged for better product display. You see much less junk food selection but more healthy options. I like to go back to there more often.

This Safeway has an easy to shop layout that includes a large selection of bulk items, huge produce dept. and a diverse ethnic foods section that spans two isles. Its clean, organized, and staff is friendly. My one complaint is not having enough cashiers and courtesy clerks. This is an issue with many Safeway stores despite hanging banners everywhere boasting they will open another check stand if there is more than 3 people in line. Despite that it still is a 5 star store.

This Safeway had pretty much everything I needed that was on my list. Although it wasnt always the easiest to find whenever I needed help there usually was someone on the floor to help me. And even when I couldnt find an item, i approached the gal at the counter and then in a moments time she would come and help me find the items I needed. Good staff very accommodating.

Well, unfortunately, my delivery didnt go so well, as the driver (Non-Safeway) just left my groceries, including perishables, on my porch (In the sun), and never made contact with me. Gruhub policy clearly states that the driver shall see your face, and get your name, prior to leaving your purchase. But, that didnt happen (And, I left specific instructions to text me an ETA prior to the delivery. And, that didnt happen either). Anyway, I called Safeway, after my neighbor informed me that my groceries had been sitting in the sun on my porch for 2 hours, and I spoke to a young man (Marcus) that took care of everything. So, I still give Safeway a 5-star rating (Its not Safeways fault that Grubhub isnt keeping up with their employees customer service, and knowledge of their policies). Ill continue to be a loyal Safeway delivery customer, as long as I never have to deal with an incompetent individual like that driver again...

Changed to a 1 star due to recent visits and the current state of this store.Do not go to this location unless you are just picking up online orders.The store has been completely overrun by item pickers who do not work for safeway and will cut in lines to ask locations of items. The parking lot also reflects this new mentality as they have taken up multiple close parking spots for the pick up service and multiple vans for this service as well.During my last particular visit they also were blocking off 90% of the handicapped parking spots and filling in holes during the morning rush, which with someone who is handicapped and is unable to walk long distances and on multiple occassions seen all 6 of the handicapped spots filled on my visits over the years, this is unacceptable.Theres another safeway not too far away on Skyline if you prefer the normal store experience rather than traversing a busy warehouse.Edit as of 10/2020 Deli also still has abysmal service with no coherient lines, rude staff behind the counter, and overall a terrible experience.

My favorite family grocery store, you can get everything here for a big family and better selection than canned food outlet with fresh produce, dairy, bakery, and veggies minus the warehouse membership. It has a starbucks, great parking lot and orchard hardware right next door so household family type food and repair chores can be done more quickly. Just bring your own bags to pack your own groceries as this used to be a pay and pack and was designed to be more self service oriented.

Large Pack N Save transformed into basically a warehouse Safeway. Helpful staff lead you to the correct areas and get you anything missing from the isles if they have it in back. Almost always fully stocked with everything. The new remodel is great.

You should have more employees like her not like what i experience last week when the lady told me she was not the manger and could not help me that was a rude approach to customers. Overpriced. Same items are two or three times cheaper at other stores, such as FoodsCo or even Target. Besides, there is always a chance the items on sale (or even not on sale) are dangerously past the expiration date. We saw expired yogurt, cream cheese, etc. We used to buy French bread they bake. It used to be of a very good quality. Now, it is barely edible: the inside clayish and row. What a waste of their own supplies, labor, and time! Quite disappointing.

I went to the kiosk of costumer service and instead of receiving help from the two ladies that supposedly help me they were talking about other employees shifts and making negative comments about them. -even when I was standing right in front of them. Safeway on Gellert in SSF used to be a Pak N Save. This Safeway is pretty wide with plenty of selections to fit your grocery needs. Theres also a Starbucks inside too, for those of you that need coffee while shopping. Lots of parking in front of the Safeway as well.I appreciate whoever organizes the fruits and veggies by color. Every time I come here, the bell peppers are organized by green (top), red (middle) and yellow (bottom). It just looks aesthetically pleasing.Cashiers also appreciate when shoppers label their bags of dried fruits and nuts using the appropriate product # and name. Once, I didnt do this and I held up the line for about 10 minutes. I felt awful, so to avoid this from happening again, I make sure to use the twist ties to close the bag and use a pen to label the product. It saves time for the cashier.Not a lot of Safeway employees to help out on the floor though, at least when I come in the evenings. I knocked off one star because usually, when I shop here, there are often long lines at three cash registers. Youd think theyd have more registers open, but nope. Just three or four. I hope this can change to accommodate to more people.

It was once called Pack n Save. Now its back to being called Safeway. It has a warehouse feel. Its big with a large selection. I particularly like the produce section and take advantage of the organic produce. Theres a Starbucks in the store too. I gave it four stars because the layout of the store feels a little awkward to me, and the arrangement of the produce tables dont quite make sense to me. Otherwise, I prefer this Safeway over others Ive shopped at.

I called the store this morning and after numerous tries, Sandy answered the phone. I asked to speak to a mgr or person in charge and she puts me on hold. Well, as many callers may know, when a call is put on hold and the phone is not answered in an appropriate amount of time, the call cycles back to the operator and choices of extensions are given again. In the same call with sandy, my call was cycled back 5 times before I gave up. Maybe they knew the caller wanted to speak to a mgr and nobody wanted to answer. It doesn’t matter why. We had an extremely unpleasant experience at this Safeway. My partner and I arrived close to closing time (10 min before closing) to which Carolynn rudely told us we were not allowed in. After asking why, she told us they were closed. It should be noted that posted closing time is 1 AM and we drove 15 minutes to this Safeway for that very reason, as it is one of the only stores that closes this late. We were taken aback for her rudeness as she rudely yelled at us across a few isles when coming in to the store and approached us to tell us in a loud manner that we were not allowed in. I then told her that I believed this Safeway closed at 1 AM to which she repeated that they were closed and were not allowed in. It should be noted there were multiple customers inside of this store and we felt very humiliated to be receiving this treatment in front of other shoppers. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars, its actually called Pak n Save by the way, was because none of the express lanes were open and there were huge posters above the checklanes that said more checklanes would be open after 3s a crowd. Well thats a novel idea..hows about letting the public have a copy? Lets talk chips..its now separated into TWO DIFFERENT aisles!! Ideally most would prefer...chips/snacks, drinks soda/beer side by side. I have been involved in large scale operations for 20+years and Safeway has spiraled down the toilet with its poor decesions. Pretty much started around the time after a person won a large lottery jackpot there...believe it or not.

Selection and Availability Is Always Hit or Miss. I am done shopping at a market that doesnt monitor and cant keep staples, even its own brands in stock and offered for sale. Lucerne Half and Half in quart size is a prime example. 6 visits in a row, doesnt matter what day of the week or time... You cant get a quart size of Lucerne cream unless you want fat free... No thanks. They have pints or half gallon, but not quarts. Same goes for 2% Lucern milk in Half gallon cartons. It was a madhouse in there and there is only one product I buy at Safeway now, everything else I shop elsewhere to save a lot of money. You can trust me Im a madman and I know a madhouse when I see one.

A huge Safeway, the only cons to this safeway are no self checkouts which could take a bit long to buy something and really bad cell phone reception in the store, at least they give you free WiFi.
