The store in general is good, but I feel sorry for the cut fruit staff, the presentation of the fruits is horrible, very large pieces, with seeds, the grapes are not separated from their branches, really very unpleasant.

Today i went to Safeway to get some Roma tomatoes. Talking about unfair inflation! One pound of tomatoes was$3.49! Yesterday i went to Las montañas market in Concord and bought Roma tomatoes for $1 69 per pound. Unbelievable!!!Got a reply from Safeway apologizing the fact that Im not a fan of Safeway pricing. The also urged me to find coupons to save a little money.The issue here is that why do one needs to go and pick up pennies here and there to counteract the blatant overpricing of food items. Safeway has a very powerful purchasing power to obtain good prices from their vendors. So the suggestion of clipping coupons its an insult to to our intelligence.BTW we do have the Safeway app to get such coupons but they dont always apply to the overpriced items.

UPDATE: Im changing this review from two stars to five stars because I have made friends with the wonderful man at the pharmacy who is helping us to get our prescriptions now. He just needed to get to know us I guess. I will be calling him before my husbands prescriptions need to be filled to give him a heads up. Im willing to do this because I know what pharmacists have to go through nowadays and theyre still under staffed at the store.☆☆☆☆☆Until about 6 months ago, I would have given this store 5 stars. We mostly use it for the pharmacy, and had excellent support and service until the manager Elizabeth left. Elizabeth always made sure my husbands standing medications were in supply, ones that are on a 30 day fill for years and that he needs for pain management. The new employees in the pharmacy are not proactive. Each month there is a problem getting the medicine on the 30th day. They fail to order it and orders are not fulfilled on weekends. As a result we have to continually call to see if the medicine is in. For the past 2 days they have not answered the phones or returned calls. The store customer service was no help, the man who answered would not walk back to leave a message. I hate to change pharmacies because many are as bad or worse. Its a shame they cannot adequately staff the pharmacy.

Love this place. You can pock the exact fish that you like, by yourself. Owner friendly and very helpful.Large selection, healthy. Never had any problems. Prices are better than other pet store.

Switching my five star to a one star. Ive bought some much rotten produce in the last two months. Tomatoes, Brussels, lettuce, basil. Ect... it is safeway so i expect better. Its bad enough having horribly rotten produce. But lately it more egregious! The attitudes of mangers are horrible and dismissive. Its not the cashiers. Its managementUsed to love it. Now despise having to go there. After being completely dismissed and ignored. Several times. I cannot stand spending my money there anymore. The google pay has been down since @ least new years. And when i bring it up, to mangers and anyone else, Im dismissed and ignored. They have literally no customer service skills. Wish i had a better neighborhood store.

The five star rating is specifically for the bakery department, in this case; and Id like to note an employee, Laura. She took a half sheet cake order from me with less than 24 hours notice (my son had been in the hospital, and I could not get by to order it, sooner); she was SO helpful and mindful of the details to my sons cake. Also: my boy is autistic, which sometimes means that he is completely ignored by counter persons, sales people - he has more than once asked a question ( and he is past 18 years old, Guys, its not like these clerks decided to ignore a little kid), only to be met with a blank stare or worse yet, complete indifference. Laura not only asked my boy to spell his name for the cake, but included him in the discussion of decoration details; she checked with him on every point, from the decoration set to the whipped cream topping to...everything. I have a few store employees at this store, after all these years of going in there that I specifically watch for when I need something or am ready to check out, and Laura is one of them. BTW, she said that would be making the cake herself and it was absolutely the best one that we have ordered from this store in the 9 years we have been in the area. TY and AAAA plus!!!!! =)

I love home depot. They always have the best prices in the nursery. Helpful employees, and I can honestly say, Ive never waited long, at all, for checkout. Just yesterday we went, the parking lot was packed, but we were in a d out so quick. And self checkout is easy super to use. 5 stars. 👌

Very friendly staff. I can always find Great deals in the Meat Dept. & Deli. The produce dept. has a great crew, theyll prepare a sample of any produce item that youre interested in, within reason. Great store.

Just another Safeway. Unfortunately I do not have many options for grocery shopping in the immediate area. I would prefer to shop anywhere else, but it’s the most convenient. Nothing to do with the staff, they are all great, just limited selection of produce and goods at Safeway vs other retailers.

This is a busy, well-stocked store with a nice deli, pharmacy, floral dept and Starbucks inside. The parking lot tends to busy too. Safeway always has a nice meat/butcher shop section and fresh produce.

Always replacing their brands with leading competitors and discontinuing a lot of brands. Service in deli slow to get waited on. Looks like sandwich area has priority. They never have enough Boars Head pre-cut in the case in the morning. Employees doing online order shopping always leave their carts in the middle of the aisles and are rude. Never enough checkers in the evening when people shopping after work.

This is a really nice Safeway.. its been here for a very long time. When I was very young I used to go to Safeway all the time my parents lived right next to it in Virginia Hill. It was one of the original Safeways in California. You still have the old ceramic giant S like the original ones did. So this one is just a gorgeous gorgeous Safeway its very clean people are very friendly. And they have anything I think you could possibly think of what youll see in the many many pictures I have coming up which will all have comments on them. Most people usually flip through pictures and dont read the main body. So most my comments will be on the pictures. Its clean or friendly. The only problem I had why they didnt get five stars. Was the meat department guy directed me towards something that was just not the same as what I asked him and its screwed up a really good dish but I made that was my depart advice main dish Cuban black beans soup. I had asked for ham hocks and he directed me to ham Shanks which I didnt realize are completely different Hawks have meat in them Saints or just straight-up fat. And there was smoke that was my fault they look very similar so. Anyways other than that they were perfect. Please be sure to check out my pics if you like any of them give me a thumbs-up we live for those thats how we get ahead they pretty much I hope enjoy the Safeway if you get a chance to go here. And they have some great prices on a few different items I was very surprised.. Ill be showing those with the pictures.

Though Ive shopped at this store for many years, it can be frustrating at times as it is a smaller sized location and often I am unable to find things that are available at larger locations and often find items I regularly buy removed from the shelf to make way for other things. That being said, everything else is great, friendly and helpful employees who always try to make sure I leave happy, very clean, and always fresh.

This used to be my favorite grocery store but sadly it has gone down hill. Always out of stock, constantly changes what they carry, when you dont sell Stoffers lasagna as a grocery store your buyer needs to be fired. With that said, there are still some amazing staff thats been there since before the change in management that work hard and are really helpful and kind. As long as youre not going there expecting to buy the food you want and are willing to wait in lines that go down the aisles, than youre fine.

I like Safeway as a chain and I probably shop Safeway more than I shop at any other grocery store. This location is terrible. What kind of grocery store doesnt have frozen peas? None that Ive been in for the last 30 years. and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth that I had $20 cash back coming to me, and I had to remind the cashier about it. unfortunately this location is convenient for me for a number of reasons, but its never going to be my weekly go to grocery store.

The people who work at this Safeway cant seem to do much right. I put a divider between some of my groceries, because I wanted to ring my mothers stuff up on her safeway card, and my own stuff on mine. Cashier looks at it, and asks if I want everything together. NO thats WHY I used a divider. I would like them on two separate club cards. So as I was taking my bags out of my purse, and bagging my groceries, when I go to pay for them, he has them all together on my moms club card. Good Lord I told him TWICE! So my mom got the $50 credit toward gas instead of the $100 credit (because I use Fast Forward) that I would have received on my OWN card, had it done it correctly as I asked. Also, you often dont get the sale prices as advertised on your club card. Im constantly having to spend time at the courtesy desk, to get it corrected. They really need to get it together at this Safeway. Ugh..

I love this store and even though I moved I continue to shop here..I love the girls in Starbucks so much that I only get my coffee here !!! They know me by name and always remember my drink... I think all the employees are super friendly and I am greeted by everyone. I will never shop anywhere but here even now while I live in Concord. This is my store and I feel at home here. Great place to shop for the last three years for me ♡

Waited in line an extra 3 minutes while the clerk and bagger talked to a customer about going to a party. She could have checked my few items while talking I will go through self check out if I return to this store. In the mean time, I’ll pay a little extra and go to Lunardis or Nob Hill

This is my favorite local safeway. Its not crazy big, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I once had a bag fall apart right as I left the store but they helped me replace the items I just purchased that were ruined from the fall (glass breakage and spills).

I like to call out excellent service when I see it and Quinn, on the night shift, is very friendly and helpful! I come here often late at night. The reason that I have given this Safeway 4 out of 5 stars is because they are no longer open 24 hours. They now close at 2 am.

Ive been to many Safeway stores all over. This one is weird. They have the one entrance blocked with a stack of water bottles making you only go one direction (way before shelter in place). They never have hand baskets available, you have to hunt them down.

Ive been a Martinez resident for over 30 years and Ive been going to this Safeway location for almost as long. About a year ago I had to give up and shop elsewhere. The store became dirtier and dirtier, I found many items past their expiration dates on the shelves, checkout was chronically understaffed and employees acted as if they hated their jobs and the customers.Happy to say that after a few recent visits, things seem much improved. The employee I spoke to at the Customer Service counter was polite and pleasant. The store looked cleaner. There were several staffed registers when I arrived at the checkout area.Really nice to see the improvements!

I went in to buy a giftcard as well as lunch for the day, an felt very very very uncomfortable by the checker but mainly by the bagger who is another checker... i personally believe its INAPPROPRIATE to ask a customer what they plan on using the giftcard for/what they are purchasing via gift card.. aslo felt like i was judged by my answer even though i coulda lied i was honest but felt very embarassed even by the customer behind me.

Conveniently located to my home, but far from the best Safeway. There is no self check out and the express lanes are often left unattended. The result is that the lines are often outrageous. I’ve been here at night and not been able to find checker for10 minutes despite bringing the silly little bell they left on the conveyor.

Out of all the decades of my family and of my friends family going to this Safeway and spending who knows how much, weve never had an experience like the one we had today.After standing in one line for a few minutes a rude cashier tells us she is closed as it is our turn to pay. Even though she assisted a few customers before us and did not mention nor turn off her aisle light to indicate she wasnt going to assist us.Hey no problem, she probably needed to go to on break. There seemed to be an issue on who was supposed to cover the that lane. No biggie right? No cause for anger on our part....... But then we went to lane 4 (where unbeknownst to us, we were going to have an issue) another employee started to help a different customer at the same lane we just left that was closed. What? Still no cause for anger or agitation on our side. We kinda thought it was funny honestly.Then a lovely Cheryl started ringing us out and we were thinking yes we can probably enjoy this beer slightly below room temperature after waiting to get helped for like 15 mins. Still not a problem. But then it started to go down hill quick.My best friend is from Mexico and hes recently become a US resident. He gave Cheryl his Mexican ID where weve used absolutely everywhere (this very same Safeway last week) without a problem. Its a government issued ID right?She took the ID to her manager and we waited again. She comes back and tells us shell do us a favor and use my ID. I ask her why my friends ID doesnt work and she said I cant scan that one. I proceeded to ask what if you couldnt scan mine. Cheryl suddenly copped an attitude and told me that if she lost her job would I secure her. ????? She then proceeded to tell me about all the fines the store currently has. As a customer why should I hear about all that.Im just trying to buy some Sapporo. You know.Then a fellow co-worker Kristina comes by and I assume shes the manager. Shes not but Im glad she came by. Her calming presence tried to defuse a rage fueled incident. Thanks Kristina. Then Cherly promptly told me to have a nice day. Refusing to sell me the beer stating my friend was underage. Were both 24! She said she couldnt read the DOB on my friends ID and it could be fake. What? Its right on there.All in all we got the beer. At room temperature, but better than no temperature. Was this a race driven incident between two Latino customers and a Caucasian employee. With these tough times its hard to say. Trump is president.But Cheryl sure had an opinion about us and told it to the customer behind us about how rude we were and tried using a fake ID. Still in ear shot Cheryl.Thanks Alhambra Safeway for an unforgettable moment Ill never forget and tell everyone about.

Open 24 hours, one of Safeways better stores, nice staff, but parking can be tight during peak hours. Dont park in the spots facing the store unless you have to, since traffic in the parking lot isnt likely to stop and allow you to back out.

TURNED INTO A DUMP PLACE NOW, STAY AWAY!......The managers and assistant managers, daily workers really DONT CARE about customers returning here anymore....They wont lift a finger if there are problems or food packing problems,.... returns and problems JUST ARE NOT TAKEN CARE OF at Safeway!! . Safeway has gone down hill big time since they were sold to Albertsons .....Half the time you have to go out in the parking lot to find a manager and stand around explaining your issues with the managers while they are smoking...... This Safeway is way nicer than the one I shop in Pinole but good news coming in 2019 they are going to remodel the Pinole Safeway to bring it up to modern-day standards the stores at least 45 years old and it shows it plus theyre going to get a gas station there which will be a bonus for all my wasted bonus points Ive earned and cant use because the nearest Safeway gas station is many miles away

Horrible place. Go to a corner market & buy your stuff there. Support local not Albertsons. That is all this place is, a crappy horrible run Albertsons owned store that places customers on the bottom of the list when it comes to service. I used to buy my wine here until the only person there the wine Stewart named Seth left. They wont pay there employees any more. Truly a disappointment compared to when this was just SafeWay owned by SafeWay. I am afraid the SafeWay will be no more if it continues to go down hill the way it is. Sad.

Still no Apple or Android Pay, seem to have cut back staffing (longer lines recently when Ive gone), and they have also cluttered up the place with stacks or merchandise in many aisles... most of which were fairly narrow to begin with.

Safeway is absolutely more than annoying. Employees walk around with their masks hanging around their necks. Asked a cashier to put her mask on, she replied she wanted to breathe. Employees do not honor six feet distancing, brush right by you. This at both Safeways in Martinez and one in Concord.
