Please train your young employees to be courteous and respectful. The other adult employees were very helpful though. The facility itself is acceptable but it does need a facelift soon.

Horrible customer service, the store manager won’t let us checkout promotion item for my parents, told me to go to other Safeway. I provide care for my parents, always help them to get food & medication, this Safeway won’t allow me to do so. Do feel like discriminated at this Safeway. And our Safeway memberships are meaningless.

Staff are completely devoid of any customer service skills if you tell me to wait 10 minutes for the store to open and I do at least remember to open the door when its six and not just look at me and a liquor rep standing out side tapping the glass. Thanks night crew on your smoke break.

Good store as other Safeway. There is a good selection of groceries there. The staff are friendly. There are a lot of self check-outs for you to use instead of waiting for cashiers. They recently established new security measures to fight back retail thefts. So sad for the behaviors of those low life that destroy our country. These measures although kinda annoyed a bit but are needed to protect businesses and customers.

Its a great store, people are just very dramatic when it comes to reviews. The cashier didnt say say hi to me? One star. The store doesnt have my cheddar soup? One star. Do you see how people will bring out the tiniest inconvenience and swear this place is horrible, some of these dinosaurs on here need to act their age. Anyways my point is this Safeway is a great store with nice employees, a clean sales floor, etc. Sure the place may need a big renovation but its still a grocery store. They recently added anti theft gates at the front entrance and people reviewing hate it. Yet they also hate when the store doesnt do anything about it. In conclusion I really do like this store and they have a great management team ready to serve you on youre immature complaints.

I pre-order and pre-pay 300 pcs of chicken for $240 last December 7 and the Deli took note that it will be picked up on December 11 (8PM). We went to Safeway Jackson branch December 11 (8PM). The chicken are not yet ready, we waited 40min. It was all done by 8:40pm. 3 boxes of chicken were smelling bad and has after taste. We threw it away because it is for our company Christmas Party and it smells in the room.The Manager named James called me back and telling me you are not gonna get a refund, you are not gonna get an update from us, you are not gonna get a phone call or email from us but I will take it from here HANG THE PHONE. He wants us to return the smelly chicken but we cant keep them in store because of the smell and we are running a business.

The prices on the shelves are not correct. Twice I was overcharged. A third time the cashier overcharged me because she charged me for sugar snap peas instead of green beans. Dont we already pay enough for food?The lines are too long, they need more cashiers.The bathrooms are dirty.

They got some good sales--I use my Safeway app so I get more credit and then I get discounts on my gas.I always bring my own bags and then I pack stuff myself so Im pretty fast and they appreciate that they dont have to do it.Most of the products are really good I mean I buy a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables some meat and their baked breads cuz I like it a lot

This key copying machine saved me a trip to the locksmith or Home Depot. It was very easy to use. It is located in the front of store near the entrance. It took 5 minutes to copy 2 keys.For the other 2 keys, I wanted keys with a sports team design. That was not available in the kiosk. It will be shipped to me in 3-5 days.The total was $35 for 4 keys

Tried to get a deli sandwich. The person who tried to help me was completely useless. She seemed to not know or understand the difference between: a roll and sliced bread, mustard and mayo, and many other essential things. Please train the people who work that counter what is what.Then, when we tried to check out, we were charged for 2 hot sandwiches. They werent. Luckily, one of the managers was there to help.

Very disappointed with the customer service. on June 07, 2023 at 13:36PM The cashier by the name Jerline treated me very rude after I told her that the price of one of the items was wrong. I explained to her that the items was on sale and that I had already clipped the item in the app and I also had the weekly flyers where it showed the price. She said that she did not think I was in the right store (I did not know that I have to be in the store selected in the app to received the discounted price). Another item that was also clipped went thru. I was embarrassed by her actions and the way she talked to me. She might need a little bit more training on customer service. Thank you,

Safeway prices are already pretty high, however if you find a deal it can be nice. You just have to track every single item and make sure they actually ring it up correctly. There are strange people at night and smokers. Wish management would do something about that

This a nice Safeway but the cashiers dont seem to be knowledgeable. The other day I bought lays chips that were on sale and said you could mix and match. When I finished getting rung up I saw I did not get the sales price for the chips. I asked the original cashier and she said she didnt know so I asked another cashier and she said because I could only mix and match of the same type like only all ruffles not all lays brand. When I got home I checked and you can mix and match all of lays brands online so I emailed corporate. They replied and said that I should have received the discount and thank you for notifying them that the discount was not being given at the register. They also told me I had to go to the store and talk to the manager to get a refund because as much as they wanted to they couldnt do it online. I have not had time to go back. So everyone check your receipts when you go here and hopefully you will get a competent cashier

I frequent here because I live in nearby apartments. I have many issues with this store which range from : outdated products, products that spoil before sell by date, and missing/ unmarked products. This place needs a complete do-over from the staff, down to refrigeration. I gladly now Uber to Luckys for cold items and have saved money since. Know what your purchasing and ask as many questions as possible....buyer beware!!!!

The Associates are very polite and ready to assist. Bonnie is the best of the best. She went over and beyond to assist me. Wonderful woman. Shes the type of employee every company needs. The prices are on the high side compared to similar stores. But since I live in the neighborhood, I save money on gas so it evens out. I wish their supply chain would get more serious. Sometimes, they run out of my favorite vegetables and mushrooms. Ill have to watch, fast and pray for the next supply to arrive. Thats not good, business wise. The problem persits despite repeated pleas.

The interior of this place is old and needs some work.i come here for the sandwiches. They are always short staffed and the people behind the counter making sandwiches and or grabbing oth items for customers are very slow. More often then not there is only one working since breaks are ill timed with rush hour for sandwiches and the line to get help can be long. They have reduced the types of bread you can choose from and did away with condiments like honey mustard. The floors in this place really need to be run down and a self checkout area would be welcomed since there are seldom more than a couple of cashiers. Stock on shelves is not great. It is frustrating when an item is buy 5 or buy 10 deal and there arent that many on the shelves. I prefer the other Safeway in Hayward!

Sorry, but this place is a nightmare, specially when you just want to get a few items.If you value your time avoid this store, usually there is only 2 cashiers operating and lines of people waiting their turn are huge.I know cashiers are fast and most of them very friendly, but there is a big management problem here. Parking lot looks trashy and inside feels depressing, nothing to do with the other location in foothill Blvd.( nice and clean and you barely will wait much to get your groceries done)Dont believe me? Most of the time I come here and it’s long lines in the afternoon(30+ ppl and 1 or 2 cashiers). Today I came to get change for $100 so I could do laundry across the street. I did buy something. The cashier says I don’t think I have change for that. She didn’t even check. Just rude plus before she got to the register we we’re already waiting for her to get there. I had a okay experience at this location on Jackson St, Although This is not the area I like to shop it was close by. Items were in stock only downfall was a African American women with an attitude. She needs to find another job if she does like being a cashier. She did not provide any customer service. She made it has if buying groceries is bad thing. This is my first review, but I was highly unsatisfied with my service at Safeway. Usually Safeway is really good and has lots of interesting fresh foods to buy; and also, they provide sandwiches at the deli which are really good. But, at this location and day, the deli worker refused to make me a sandwich because she was the only one working. The line was about 3 people long (also note that previous times I have been to the deli it really doesn’t take long to make a sandwich, about under 5 minutes). I’ve worked in food retail before and have been short staffed at times with even more customers; but not once have I refused service because there wasn’t enough workers. Ridiculous.

Although the Safeway on Jackson makes excellent cakes, the bakery always seems to be short staffed. In fact every department seems to be short staffed. There was a sign at the bakery stating that they were on lunch and to have someone from the deli or customer service come to help customers. The person from the deli did page customer service twice. However nobody came to help me. I hadn’t been at this Safeway for about eight months because the last I came, I waited 20 minutes at the customer service desk for someone to come. At the time someone at the register also paged customer service twice and no one came. It seems there is poor management of the systems put in place for each department. Management should train staff on how to pick up where someone else leaves off just in case someone goes to lunch, calls in sick, or is the only one in their department. We don’t want to burn people out. Better management of employees should be happening.

I would not recommend this Safeway. The Head Leader Cameron was very rude and disrespectful. Not only to customers but a door dash employee and Safeway workers as well. Although one of the cashiers were very slow. It does not trump his attitude. No team leader should act this way. This Safeway is one of the classics and has been there since I was a kid. It doesnt look all new fangled like some of the newly built ones, but it has all of the same stuff and services. Everything was easy to find and the floral section is especially cool to keep the flowers fresh. Cashier was very friendly and personable. This location also has a huge parking lot, so plenty of parking. When we were done, we walked down the same shopping centers walkway to Baskin Robbins for ice cream.

Each time Ive gone to this location The deli is closed early. The last time I went I asked, what time the deli closed? They told me 730. I went in today at 6:45 And the person behind the counter told me in a very rude way they had close early because of covid procedures. Which I did not believe. Then upon asking for a manager, the manager very politely explained that they were short staffed And that was the reason they had to close the Deli early. The manager then said she would reprimand the employee. I just wanted a sandwich. I then went to Luckys and got the sandwich I wanted. Skip Safeway. Choose something else.

This safeway was definitely one of the worst ones I have attended. It was unorganized, lines were too long, understaffed, the fruit looked old and not up to the standards that majority of the Safeways uphold. They did not have the basics that I would normally find, and the staff was not that accommodating. The cashier I managed to get to was the manager and she spent the whole time talking about how which day of the week she should take off. This experience vwas horrible and I would not recommend this safeway in Hayward, I will much rather drive to Union city to get a better experience and better quality.

Thank you Safeway Bakery in Hayward (Jackson Square)! I was in a jam and needed a half sheet cake for work today and the bakery team took care of me! The cake was fresh and delicious! And they took the time to write all the names of my employees celebrating B-Day. I called Lucky this morning and they need at least 24 hours notice. I called Safeway at 730 am and they had it ready for pick up by 1pm. Very satisfied customer.

Moved in the area sometime back so frequenter here. This are disappointments - one of the door closes at 8 Pm, most other places in Bay area it closed at 10 pm. Then the place has no self checkout which means you have to go through often long lines and theres not an option. Finally the place has old credit card machines meaning you cannot use nfc for Google pay or Apple pay.The place in general is old, honestly a remodeling wont hurt.

This is the wrost Safeway ever.... The lines are always long, and you would see other cashiers out side smoking. Nobody’s never at the customer service booth, they page for somebody to come it’s take 10 mins for them to show. Waited 20min in the deli line to find out that I have to pay a dollar for each deli meat when I tried to order the all deli meat sandwich (formally on the menu but still ok to order over the years) so, $12.00 for the sandwich and a dollar for each meat after the first meat. I’ve been getting this sandwich for years for the sandwich price and for whatever the reason, on Friday January 10th at lunchtime the rules changed by the deli manager without the exception of me spending my whole lunch break in the line so no sandwich. I had to literally run to Taco Bell across the way and eat on the go. Even a customer in line says that she still orders that sandwich sometimes so all I can say is VERY BAD customer service in the deli I’ve never had this experience at any other Safeway INCLUDING THIS ONE until 1/10/2020 lunchtime.

This store is not stocked as a freight manager I was highly disappointed and was shocked for my high expectations in Safeway always being my first choice. Second rant only one associate from store could point to where a product was or could be which btw bacon usually is by the hotdogs or egg dairy section again just super disappointed in lack of effort in help the rest of associates wouldnt make eye contact and thats being within 3feet of customer and not even a greeting of hello I will not go back to this location again and will let my family and friends to avoid this store as well.

New manager followed me to my car and harassed me about showing her my receipt for a bag of ice....she treated me like a thief, recorded me on video, took pictures of my license plate...she claimed security told her to do so. There was no security at the door and I never signed a waiver saying I was ok with them checking my receipt on my way out...if you have a receipt like I did and security stops you and prevents you from going home, its considered false arrest . You can sue the security company and the company that hired that security company.

I went to the deli place tobuy a sandwich and the woman right there was really rude to me, since the soda machine was broken, she said I could wait until the machine was repaired to get my soda, so I asked her if there was any other option instead of waiting, she didnt answer, so I heard the other woman in there said I could take a bottle soda instead. This Safeway store is an older one and the inside of the store looks outdated like it was still 1970 compared to other modern Safeways. However its location is key. It is right next door to a Starbucks that is open until 11pm and its about a mile away from my gym Planet Fitness in Hayward. Also there is easy access to the freeway going towards San Mateo. There was a nice selection of items and my checker was pleasant and professional. I would go back if I had to but I would prefer one of the newer or remodeled Safeways instead.
