Apparently customer service is only open a few select hours. If you need something done and the lady is at lunch the cashiers up front will tell you there’s absolutely no one else who can help you. Kinda misleading since lunch hours aren’t posted. The grocery prices have skyrocketed and the team couldn’t care less about assisting people who actually NEED assistance. Would give zero stars if I could. This place was great when my dad was in upper management now they have really gone down hill. And I find it hard to believe that there’s NO one else in the store who can be of assistance at customer service. Poor job guys will not continue to shop here.

Ran in to pick up an online ordered meat & cheese tray at a little after 10am on Sat 6/22. Grabbed a couple small beverage items and headed to deli counter. There was one woman customer waiting as a deli employee sliced some meat for her. (Deli employee was an older looking woman with long gray hair). This was my first time picking up a pre ordered & prepaid party tray so I wasn’t completely sure of procedure. I looked around deli area and there were no employees other than the one slicing meat. I politely asked “excuse me I just have a quick question please” and the employee turned and yelled at me “I’m with a customer. Ask someone else!” I was startled and looked at the customer who looked as surprised as me. I told the customer I’m sorry I just wanted to ask her if I should go pay for these beverages at a checkout stand and come back for party tray. The customer said You’re fine. I then looked back at the employee and asked is there someone else I can ask and she ignored me. Eventually a couple employees came from store area into deli and I asked them my question. They nicely directed me to the checkout stands and said that is also where my party platter would be brought to me. I am all about quality customer service. I always insisted that my employees focus on their customer and not get distracted with side co worker conversations, their phones, etc but there is no excuse for that woman to yell at me when she could have responded in a polite & professional manner. Maybe she hates her job but that’s no excuse. Maybe she’s dealing with some difficulties in her life which if the case I feel for her but she needs to do what’s necessary to keep her anger better controlled and to behave in a more customer friendly manner. The woman at the checkout stand was very pleasant and helpful in getting the party tray to me. She helped keep my morning from being ruined by the deli woman’s ugly behavior. I’m not sure I want to visit that deli again. I did try to use Safeway Chat to report this rather than doing review but couldn’t get it to work.

The security guard is a piece of work. Its raining on 1.27.24. We had a pick-up order. We parked by the entrance so the Safeway workers wouldnt have to come out in the rain with our order. He made us all move. He was extremely rude and arrogant and on a power trip. He said I dont care when I said we parked here for the workers to not have to be in the rain. Also, the park and go sign was literally pointed to the spot we were parked in. If we werent supposed to be there why was the sign like that? I think he is bored and exerting unnecessary authority over others was entertaining for him. Or maybe he thought we were waiting for someone to steal things and drive off? I am not sure. I just do not think it was handled appropriately.That aside, I frequent this Safeway for pick up orders, and the staff are always extremely kind.

I shopped at Safeway on Pine Street using my EBT card and it was skimmed someone in Chicago. Illinois took all of my EBT funds and I was left without money for the entire month for my family. When I contacted Safeway they spent very little time listening to me, and seem to not care almost as if it happens so often they are Callous to the fact that it took a families food money for the month. I’m very disappointed in you Safeway your lack of caring your lack of asking me questions and engaging in my conversation. Left me to believe that you just do not care you have customers who are being stolen from your credit card machines are being skimmed, and you did not engage and did not ask any questioning or investigation to find out when where and how shame on you how dare you allow your customers to be stolen from and spend no understanding how it happens shame on you

I Enjoy shopping at the Pine St location!! Produce is fresh, meats are well stocked (due to high prices for most everything now days) I suggest they package the fresh hamburger in one and half to two pound packages at mbr prices, just for a week or two. Still a big money maker, dont advertise this special package deal. So many families need to get caught up this time of year!Not every household can afford $22.56 to $27/$28.00 for 3.08lbs of beef at a time. Smaller portions at a reasonable price could be manageable for most. Think it over!

Customer service was great everytjing was easily located store looked to be clean and well stocked. Only problem lots of homeless outside store but there is store security during business hours. And there is homeless everywhere. It seems like redding has a homeless problem thats only getting bigger. Maybe a solution should be sought out. And some more helpful hands to change the out come of redding and our fellow neighbors. Kindness gose a long ways and Everyone needs a hand sometimes. Just a thought. But back to safeway i enjoued my time shopping and experience with the staff.

Probably the number one hang out for homeless and junkies to ask you for money or some of your food upon leaving, or you have to walk around them as they crowd around the doors. Other than that the store is great, the people are amazing, and always have a good selection of items on hand.

I use Safeways pharmacy and so I do shopping there as well. Its a bit more expensive than other grocery stores, but I prefer quality over quantity. And they carry most everything a person needs. The staff is friendly and the pharmacy staff make you feel like a valued customer.

Check the alfredo sauce before you buy. Found one with a popped seal this last week. Have had to return one before because i didnt realize the seal was popped and it was moldy when i went to use it. Check the plastic bowls of cut fruit before you buy, have found mold and also bite marks on the fruit (?!). Otherwise the store is great, lots of friendly and helpful people. Victor is a gem, we see him a lot and hes always smiling. The pharmacy is awful, please avoid. Theyve refused to fill my antidepressants before because I had to switch from insurance pay to cash pay (husband changed jobs and i cannot go without these meds), simply because it was a hassle for them to switch it over in the system. I had to call my mother in law the last time they did this (its been more than once) to get help figuring it out as she works at another Safeway pharmacy and knows all the ins and outs. This was after i called the store manager for help, and whoever it was that i spoke with went along with the story the pharmacy was spinning.

I dont know if youve ever dropped in to Safeway for a quick bite from their deli but they have a pretty phenomenal selection for the price, compared to fast food these days. A bonus, if you happen to like mac and cheese this is the place to go: Ive never had a commercial version of mac and cheese as good as this anywhere. Happy eating!

Just picked this up, not at all what I wanted. I wanted it to be circular not a square. Scooby-Doo is green? The color isn’t there at all, the border is all sloppy. Even the basic white frosting is messed up and this is how it was when we picked it up. Very disappointed and paid $38. Very upset, seems put together last minute. My mother would never complain, but I’m very upset with this outcome.

This place struggles to not be overtaken by the negative in the neighborhood. Its not really their fault but it is called unsafeway for a reason. To their credit Ive never actually been injured, but Ive definitely seen some things and been called a few unsavory words. Aside from the unruly customers, its a clean store and the staff are pretty friendly considering all they go thru. Someone should probably pay them more!

Security guard lady would not look up for her from her phone as I walked to the front of the building where she was standing. On my way out, a lady with her baby was parked across from me, and she left her wallet in the baby stroller as she put her baby in the car. A man with a teardrop tattoo on his face that had apparently been in jail for a year, tried to approach her car several times and I just kept standing there staring at him. He finally got the hint that I wasnt going to back down and he walked away. I told the new mom to be more careful about her surroundings. So whats the point in having a security guard if shes not paying any attention to anything going on? Ive had issues with the security guards at the store before, they are just absolutely not interested in their jobs. So please be very careful and not leave any valuables where someone can see them inside your car. Keep your purse on you while you are getting your kids in your car. And look around and see who is watching you while youre getting in and out of your car.

This store is centrally located, and easy to access.80 % of my shopping is done here. It is clean, the staff is helpful. I found that if I ran all over town I could save a little, but the travel costs would eat up any savings. I use this store for debit card loading, also. They are friendly, and carry the odd items that I use, like vegan chorizo. All in all, a very nice store.

Definitely the #2 safeway considering the surroundings, selection, lack of bread variety in the sandwich counter ect... that being said this is the one is usually go to for small stuff because its closer to my home... very expensive place to shop for the most part so dont do your bulk grocery shopping here. The produce here is definitely the best... that and the good maple syrup they stock are the main reasons I use this store.

I never 1 or 5 stars because a business truly worthy of 1 star would already be closed and there’s always room for improvement. With that said, I’m relatively new to Redding. I moved here for personal reasons. I’m glad I did! I was looking at reviews for different places to an authentic feel for the community and I saw this store. I saw that “homeless” is mentioned more than any other thing. It’s mentioned 65 times. The one thing this store has no control over is the one thing people complain about the most. If you think about it, 65 reviews on this store are kind of irrelevant to a degree. The quality of this store, the employees, the products and the price are all things that one should review. Not the ones who loiter outside. But thank you for showing your heart. More complains about the homeless than anything else as if it’s Safeways personal responsibility to fix that problem. No it’s the church’s. How many people who complained about the homeless go to church? How many go to Bethel? When’s the last time you decided to sacrificially be part of the solution? I’m not talking about handing out a blanket or a sandwich…but actually invested and committed to a homeless individual. To disciple them. To bring them into your home. To work with them addictions and all? Yeah that’s costly. That’s also the reason I’m not homeless anymore. I was homeless for 3 years when I first got saved. Took nearly 3 years to hold a job, manage money, keep a place to stay and drive and take care of a car. I had people from the church who wouldn’t give up. How many people here are that passionate about the homeless population? Are you really just passionate about complaining so someone else can fix the problem? Do better. Want to see the homeless disappear? Be the church and be it selflessly

Purchased about 5 bags worth of groceries. I was busy getting my ph# entered and getting my cc ready. This took my eye off the clerk bagging my items. Wasnt until I got home that I saw the dozen cupcakes from the bakery were in a bag on its SIDE.All of the cupcakes except bottom row were now all BOTTOM ROW. Half with their frosting knocked off. The others all mashed together.They looked like they were dropped on the ground.Im frustrated because time after time after time I have to stop whoever is bagging as they will put pies, cakes etc on their side.Personally this is not a training failure. This is simply an employee doing a job which is far to complicated for them. I mean, every person has had a B-day and been to B-days.If you asked them how many times have you seen the cake being walked in while on its side? OK this is sarcastic but seriously. I would say 50% of the time baggers try and do this. And they do it right in front of the cashier. Who started as a bagger. Assuming they learned and now would stop it from happening under their nose.Just return the damaged cupcakes for a new batch.1- waste if my time2- cashier wont help you.. go to customer service.Stand at counter looking around. Nobody their. I was impressed to see they had an employee outside, collecting and sanitizing carts continually. Inside was cleaner than their normal standard, as well.Freshest produce always! Deli section top, top as usual. Bakery that takes cake to a whole another level. Great product variety store wide. And the cherry on top? Safeway is the place where you get what you pay for. We go there for the produce and when you spend a certain amount, you can save up to $.80 off per gallon for gas. Theyre usually always clean, the deli rocks and they seem to have enough check out lines open.

Hands down the scariest parking lot in Redding. We are locals and live close by, it’s so bad I don’t shop there unless I need one thing and I’m without my family. My kids are scared of Safeway and call it sketchway or unsafeway and they are all under 10 years old. The employees are all great, but corporate needs to step in and assist with the type of people that camp out on the parking lot.

Went there for 1 thing and took forever to find. When I did that section was a mess. Thanks to the help I didnt receive while being watched was SUPER HELPFUL.If someone looks like they might need help. You should help them, specially if you think they are suspicious. Not just stand at the end of the aisle being obvious that youre watching them. I couldve been in and out and not have wasted time.

THOSE PRICES ARE FREAKING ROBBERY!!The way they have everything labeled and displayed they had members prices displayed and not the actual prices so when I rang up my total instead of something like the hamburger buns being 249 they were actually 479 I went way over my budget I already had an entire car $235 for $100 would have got at Walmart for the exact same products they literally have tomatoes in a can you can get a Dollar Tree for $1.25 and they are asking $5 for them at Safeway Safeway is the worst they are understaffed their staff is rude because of it so forget Safeway sell your stock cuz that company is going to sell I guarantee it

Not the greatest Safeway, I brought back a Safeway brand, Signature reserve, which has a 100%satisfaction guarantee or $$ back, their customer service clerk argued with me and refused to refund my money, I had to make a big fuss about it and finally I received my refund after being humiliated and put down Infront of other customers making it look as if I was doing something shady told me theyll so it this time if you dont want to honor your 100% guarantee then take it off your products or just get rid of the employee that treats your customers bad Im not a frequent returner and I had a receipt and the debit card I used for the purchase that was only 2 days prior. still no apology for the poor product that I bought or the inconvenience if it wasnt pricey I probably wouldnt have bothered but it was $9.99 and because if this incident I will ever be 100 % satisfied with any Safeway branded product as this incident destroyed my impression with Safeway forever. Going forward I will he returning any/all signature reserve, open nature or O organic products that I happen to purchase I the future . Perhaps my next return will change my opinion. I hope so

Very clean, wonderful employees, great selection, serious homeless infestation in the parking lot every night, got a sandwich made by the store, it had at least a half a fly in it, found it after eating part of the sandwich, pretty sure I ate the other half, havent had another sandwich made by anyone other than myself since... I assume that because the deli counter is right next to the door and bathrooms flies can easily become a problem. Safeway/Vons should really reconsider this design flaw, or perhaps add one of those handy dandy downward facing air blowers that keep insects outside. Bright side, it was added protein...

This is the Safeway off West Cypress Avenue, near the downtown area. The store is bright and clean and the employees are very friendly. I went with a good friend and realized after wed left that the inside layout of the store is the same as the Safeway on East Cypress beside CVS. The colors and decorating is nicely done. My friend and I really were tempted to buy some pool/river/lake inflatable unicorns, pink flamingos and white geese. Pretty awesome floats. If you are into having plenty of time to float on water, this would be a fun way to do it no matter what your age is. I was really tempted and Im 67 years old. Once a float fan, always a float fan! Very nice store you would like too. Try it out.

Ive always liked Safeway. There deli, meat and sea food, there produce. Since the out break of the virus theres been changes, not just in price. The deli, and meat and seafood departments have remained high quality . There produce has really gotten bad. The shelf life once purchased and brought home used to stay good at least a week to 10 days. There produce now doesnt even last a week. My personal experience is some dont even last 2 to 3 days and it rots.I dont shop as I once did. When I do, I dont buy there produce.

Love this store. Staff is friendly, store is always clean & well stocked. My pharmacy is here and their staff is always helpful and very knowledgeable. The only deterant here is there are always homeless people roaming the parking lot and often times panhandling. The store is doing what it can to keep the customers safe but sometimes its a little scary.

The staff was super friendly but I did not at all feel safe walking to or from my car with my 6 month old son. The amount of people that are just simply allowed to sit there and harass paying customers and disgustingly impose themselves on people with children handing out all kinds of sob stories. Like I legit just almost fought this guy because he started screaming at me for not taking my hard earned money set aside for my childs needs to give to him because I need to eat tooThe Safeway on the other side of town at least has security guards that sit up front and is better lit so you at least feel safer.

So, it no secret that if you order from Doordash,you are lucky to receive half of your order.Now, Safeway has an app, that I used and the difference is....They use theyre employees to do the shopping, so your getting what you ordered or darn close .You can order for delivery, and use your discount phone number.Its a GREAT APP! If youre shopping here and can afford it, my review isnt going to stop you from buying groceries hereIf you download the app, youll save a lot of money but 7 out of 10 grocery trips, I will find an error on my receipt. You have no way of knowing if you are being charged full price or sale price until you put your phone number in at the paying station so do that as soon as you can. Then you can watch the prices as they are scanned. Safeway will always fix their mistakes, as long as you discover them, otherwise its free money to them. Ive saved $191 on one grocery trip! The savings are there, you just need to stick to your list. There is a Starbucks inside that make fabulous coffees.

A five star place, a two star neighborhood. The market is clean & well stocked. Their prices are not bargain prices but produce, meats & liquor are top quality. The membership program is easy (member discounts are automatic at the register) but the electronic coupons are too complicated for me. I often ride my bicycle place and this place is somewhere I cant go without someone stealing either parts of my bike, such as tires and rims, bike lights, whatever they can get their hands on. Just moved here and have been trying to get my medications transferred to their pharmacy. Its going on three weeks now and I am playing the go between between this store and where my meds are located on the East Coast, and each time I am in contact with Safeway, they have no idea at all what Im talking about. I had a Walmart pharmacist who was helping me and went above and beyond to help me contact me to say he could not get in touch with anyone in their pharmacy and asked if I had anywhere else I would like to try, he would not be attempting to contact them again. I dont blame him. I tried calling the Pharmacy Sunday and could not reach anyone. I drove to the store and the pharmacy had no customers and two technicians so its unclear why they werent answering their phone. This Safeway kinda sucks. The one on East Cypress is much better. There are less homeless people out front at the other one. The high volume of vagrants at this store makes it so that the security guards are always on edge and suspecting people of stealing when the people arent doing anything wrong. Pharmacy is pretty good but Im in a powered wheelchair and since I cant shop with a basket and believe me Ive tried. There was a time my mom was supposed to pick me up and pay for the groceries but she fell asleep so I had no way of paying for all of them so since that incident I went to pick up my moms prescription and was going to buy a few things and I was dropping everything left and right and no one offered any help other than some other customers and the security guard was watching me so she saw me struggling so I gave the items to one of the staff members who was stocking items and decided to leave because I was almost in tears and wanted to catch the next bus home. Does she do that to everyone? Of course not because of one incident that to them looked like I was me trying to rob them blind. Not everyone is trying to steal. Im in a wheelchair and cant shop like a normal person. So I will come to the pharmacy but I dont want to shop in a store where Im labeled as something Im not...

Great store. I wish they had more security people, inside and out. The homless man on the resting on the porch, was not a welcome site. The other entrance had another man as well. A third homeless man was waiting for me to exit my car, as he was standing behind it. At 10am a store officer came out of the store, and the unwelcome men walked off the property. I wish I didnt have to wait in my car for the twenty minutes prior.As a disabled and older woman, I have to be more careful than most. I found a store scooter in the lot. If youre just visiting Redding, this is not the go to Safeway. Go to the other one at any cost if you want to enjoy your experience. They may coexist on the same street, but trust me that this Safeway is different in the way that there are many more people outside the store you would not want to meet. Safeway has a very good selection when it comes to inside the actual storeand I think theyre feel sections for filling up your car cant be beat.their gas is one of the best prices in town look around.you cant beat the prices at Safeway for gas and they have a big parking lot to....But I definitely kicked two stars off the rating because their parking lots are very dimly litand if theres someone around waiting for youyou cant see them which I think is dangerous.And the other star was kicked off the list because their prices really arent that good. theres better prices in town as far as meats and cereal and milk go in Redding.you can go to WinCo and youll probably save a hundred bucks or more off your food bill if you go serious shopping WinCo seriously cannot be beatand theyre just as big if not bigger than Safeway.But Safeway is definitely good for different reasons .if you need one itemand you dont want to stand in a line that goes to the moon go to Safeway.there lines are generally smalland if you need one item dont go to WinCo cuz youll be in WinCo till youre 95the lines are horrible .But the lines are horrible at WinCo for a reason.because people save a ton of money!their prices cant be beat .WinCo is the best on prices in town so certain stores are better for certain reasons.I would definitely go to Safewayif you need an item for the recipe for the tonights dinner.or you need one item or to go to Safeway spend a couple bucks more for the item and get out fast!its worth it to spend a couple more bucks and no youre not going to be there foreveror go there for the gas .you cant beat a well-lit gas station thats properly maintained and clean.its worth its weight in gold .if you gas your car up in Redding in other places youll notice their trashy half the time and theres bums around.thats generally not the case in Safeway so now you know...

I recently had a very poor experience at the store on Pine Street Redding CA.I went inside and spent approximately $10 on a snack and a drink. I went outside to sit down on a bench and kill time while my car was being detailed. I was just sitting there on my phone minding my own business and eating the food that I had just purchased. A rude security guard came out and told me that I had to leave and can’t go back into the store or sit out here. I tried to explain that I was a customer and just purchased stuff from inside, but he wouldn’t have it.He seemed to have a speech impediment and possibly some kind of special needs so I’ll cut him some slack. But certainly not a welcome experience and I probably won’t be going back to that location again.I was sitting there 10 minutes max, not causing any kind of trouble. Just thought I’d share my experience.

Customers have to have masks but employees outside on duty didnt have them or one getting off work exiting the store didnt have one either. I asked to speak to a manager then a gentleman came outside named Trevor. Of course I wanted to know why I had to have one but they warrant even wearing one. His answer was to shrug his shoulders and proceeded to tell me if I wanted to go in I needed to wear a mask. A very horrible way to run a business especially if you aint going to protect the customers just making it very inconvenient for them

Funny I work 60 hrs a week I walk home by there every day since my truck blew up an I carry my back pack an use it as my lunch bag when I go into the store even though I spend over 40 d0llars at a time I have there security follow me around like there some stray dog trying to catch me doing something lol. For real as I walk outside there is always homeless pan handlers druggies an dope dealers out in the parking lot that they never clear out the security. What a joke hell half the security are the homeless people best friends. Sad I wont come here again ever

I cant stand the street people who are always hanging out in front of the store and sometimes enjoying a laugh with the supposed security personnel. The stores atmosphere is very uninviting and their prices are higher than any other store in our area.

I have to stop and comment on one of the awesome things about Safeway, i work road construction, and instead of going to fast food, i get a giant sandwich bathed in avacado instead of mayonase, i have it cut in half and for two days i wait in agony for lunch time!! Ham&turkey on sourdough, avacado-pickles- pepperchinies..yikes!!

I often shop here for my food and soda, but today I went to use the Amazon Locker for the first time and wow this is an amazing invention. I live in a location where my packages always seem to go missing I decided to try the Amazon Locker out and I would recommend giving that a try if your in the neighborhood.

I was lucky enough to witness my checker, bagger, and the customer service lady ridicule a homeless woman buying a water. She was clearly suffering from mental illness and was rambling about the fire. When I called them on thier disgusting banter the woman pointed at me and told me I had no idea what they were talking about. I said that I did and pointed to the homeless lady standing 5 feet behind her that she didnt see. Way to show some heart in this disaster.

Nothing shouts great customer service like having tweakers harress you in the parking lot. When youre desperate and have to make a grocery run, but your stuck on this side of town then Safeway is the place you go. With the typical Californian obsession with organic produce youll struggle to find the normal fruit that isnt price gouged because its special. Friendly employees that have had enough of people nagging about the tweakers in the parking lot with really round out the experience.

Ive been going to the East Street/Pine Street Safeway Since 1985, Ive Known a few Different Mangers over the time, and a few staff members. I think Justice is One of my Favorite Checkers. And I must mention 1 of my All time Worst Security Gaurds has to be Susie, Y ?? You all ask, She profiled me as a shop lifter and said it loud enough for the customers in the 2 Ilses could hear it, and When I asked her to go do her job and leave me alone. She said O Im doing my job Im just waiting to catch you stealing something and your mine.She also said loud enough that customers in the deli section could hear it and we were by the ice cream section. I had enough, I went to customer service counter and requested the night manager. Dave came up and I asked him a simple Question: I have been coming to this store for over 30 years Does he think I need a baby sitter when I came here? He said err, No I dont think so. I said great then tell your Female Security Gaurd to get off my ass and leave me alone, And I said that LOUD enough that all the checkers and Customers in the front could hear it. I was done, Tired of the harrasment, I told them the next time it happens I will bypass customer service and just File with Shasta County Courts. Well needless to say Susie was moved to the early morning shift and away from when I normally come in. Afternoon and evening. Ive never had a problem before. So Otherwise there would be a 5 star rating.
