This is the second time this week that they have that on the door. You should update your hours online if the store won’t be open because we drive from far away for emergencies assuming the store is open since it says open 24hours on yelp, on google, when calling to verify the operator says 24hours and on maps it says open 24hours.

Nice store as far as clean and very well stocked, prices are on par with other groceries so could be worse. Customer service though I give them a big fat F. The scanner on the phone app was not detecting the digital coupons so I asked an employee the address to make sure I had the right store. Well 4 employees had no clue as to the store address so I had to go outside to look on the building. If you have a question for one of the people working at the self checkout well good luck not getting a look of irritation or even eye contact. My apologies for ruining your day with a question. The customer service desk, bring a sandwich because youll stand there a very long time before you might have someone show up. This is the weekday crew how things are at night I dont know. Theres 3 Safeways on El Camino close to each other so I go to this one for convenience but not any more. Im not a demanding shopper or uncourteous to any staff anywhere because Im a worker bee just like them so would it kill these people to at least look at you when you have a very simple question?

Overall, the store is very clean, organized, & efficient to shop at. Would definitely recommend this particular Safeway for grocery shopping.Staff who make it apparent they care about customers shopping here and the store quality through service-oriented actions like asking if I need any help finding something when lost and thoroughly responding to and addressing all of my questions and needs.Huge shoutout to Hristina at customer service going above and beyond her role answering my questions about the lotto tickets sold there and whether they had a USB-connecting wall adaptor I could borrow. Even though they did not have a wall adaptor available, they were still professional and kind in helping me.

The store is supposed to be open 24/7. Went there today (6/2) at 1am. Doors were closed but was able to get in when some other customers exited. Shopped as usual, until some crew member (not wearing any kind of work clothing) came to tell us the store was closed and we had 5 minutes to get out, due to the system resetting whatever that is supposed to mean. Based on other reviews this is clearly not the first time this has happened. A lot of shoppers kept driving up to the parking lot and trying to get in after we left. Horrible, unreliable store.

This experience is just based on the experience with one of the employees, Alma, and one of the managers at this store, Gilma, both Spanish speaker.. I went to return an unopened product that I bought almost 2 weeks ago, Alma, the first person I interact with, was really rude, she just came and said we cannot accept the return I asked why, she said this product is final sell, I asked where its says that, and she just walk away totally ignoring me, while she was walking I could asked if she was the manager she said no, while she was still walking, she didnt even offered to talk to a manager or anything.. Then Gilma came, also with a certain attitude, as if she was trying to back up the other rude lady... she also said we wont take the return, then she scanned the product, and she came with that lame excuse, it says item not found, if that was true I dont know how that could be if that product is one of those Signature items, that Safeway offer, after few word exchanges she returned my money, also said that Alma the RUDE employeewas a shift manager... All this could be avoid if Alma, the RUDE EMPLOYEE, tells me in a nice way that that type of product, according to Safeway policies, are not allowed to be returned, in the past I had another experience with this lady when i asked a simple question, and also she answered my question with a horrible attitude. Ive been shopping in this store for over 20 years, and this is the first time I have experienced a really bad customer service, I had great costumer service over all but this Rude lady and that manager need to be trained to offer a better costumer service experienced

My husband went into store today on Mother’s Day to get a cake for me. The woman working in bakery on May 12th, was extremely rude to him. I don’t know if she racial profiling him or in a bad mood. Workers should be professional at all times and treat customers with kindness, my goodness it’s Mother’s Day.

Came here and there were hand written signs saying closed. Should be open 24 hours. I drove 10 miles just to come for medicine and find them closed. This is appalling. Store sign on the window and Google both say its 24 hours but they always close down between 2am and 6am. Management is extremely rude and disrespectful and the place is surrounded by homeless crackheads outside. Also the bathrooms are disgusting. Its a disgrace that this Safeway is located in a city as good as Sunnyvale. Avoid this dump at all costs and boycott them until they close down.

This is my all time favorite Safeway, its been my home store now for 3 years. I like the fact that I feel as if Im shopping at home with my relatives. I know most everyone there, and its such a great feeling to be able to say hello and have small conversations with the people I see mostly more than my actual family, as they live out of state.

Hours not accurate.In response to the response: I checked the hours, drove across town, and saw two doors that had signs on it saying store closed. The motion-activated door I approached did not open. In the time I stood there looking up other open stores, I saw at least one employee enter the store, and another get in his car and leave. 🤷

At the beginning of the pandemic, it seemed like they had their act together - multiple lanes open, getting people out quickly, and ensuring that the store wasnt too crowded. Now the lines for open lanes extend all the way to the second half of the store, and two lanes are open with 15 people + in line. This is not a one off, it has happened nearly every time Ive come in the last few months. Different times of day, different days of the week. They obviously no longer care a bit about safety.

A functional Safeway with the worst restock/inventory policy Ive seen. Store management seems to believe that shelves need to be stocked with any item, even if its not the right item, and since shelves are stocked they dont need to be restocked. If this is your primary Safeway then you will invariably find they are constantly out of stock of multiple popular items and that where they belong on the shelf is filled by less popular items of the same brand. For weeks. Months. Its perfectly functional otherwise, just that the most popular stuff will remain out of stock forever and store management doesnt seem to care.

Today I bought a watermelon at this Safeway. I walked out after paying my bill. The cashier stopped me and said “You did not pay”. His attitude was very rude and behaved like I stolen something. I remember it showed approval and taking your card. I went back and found I just forgot my receipt. The other cashier educated very rudely that I should get my receipt for payment confirmation. How can you do this to your customer? I paid and just forgot my receipt. It happens at other stores as well. They just asked me to take my receipt. I never experienced such rude attitude before, especially for such a simple thing.

This is a very nice example of a Safeway. They have a cheese monger (!!) who actually knows his stuff. They also have a pretty big selection of produce with a good amount of fresh organic stuff. I personally like all the ready-to-cook vegetables (cut and washed in store) that make my evening meals go alot quicker.

More than a few times in the past three months, my wife and I have referred to the Safeway websites to decide which one to go to, due to the fact it was in the early morning hours we needed the service. We are very disappointed and set back financially, because of the extra cost at convenience store and wasted fuel when we were informed of their doors locked when we got there. Now faced with another decision having to be made in an unnecessary situation. When the correct information could and should be available on the website. To me its negligence at a level where it should not exist. It may seem petty from your point of view, since you serve such a large number of customers. All the more reason to ensure your public info stays updated. Individualality being the number 1 concern from cooperate. In my opinion. I mean thats what makes up the majority, right? I doubt these two individuals use your service again, even if you are the only ones SUPPOSEDLY OPEN.

I usually come to this location because its 24 hour and Im able to grab what I need before my day starts since Im on-call 24/7. But the last two days, Ive walked to the store at 4:30am only to see a sign saying Store Closed. This morning (10/7) I got there at 4:45am and saw another HAND WRITTEN sign on the door saying Store Closed. Reopening at 5am. So I waited the 15 minutes.5:00 comes around and another couple shows up waiting to be let in. The guy cleaning the floors at the front lets us in the store. I see an employee at the bakery and ask her if the store hours were changing or something because this was now 2 days in a row where they werent open when they were supposed to be. She was really dismissive and just said yes acting like I was bugging her for asking a question. After about 10 minutes in the store and about to walk up front with my purchases, the guy comes back up to me telling me that I have to leave because all of a sudden now they dont open till 6am.When I called customer service, the message said open 24 hours. When I talked to the lady on the phone, she also said 24 hours but the reason they were closed was because there were no cashiers...two days in a row. If youre going to advertise that youre open 24 hours, please staff accordingly or have people cross-trained to use the registers. Also the experience of finally being let in the store and then telling me to leave when I had a basket of purchases in my hand was not a positive one.

Well stocked produce and bakery sections.Their spinach dip is delicious.Their mushrooms and green beans can sometimes rot pretty quickly.They also have a decent international foods (Indian, Hispanic and Asian) selection.The flower arrangements always look pretty. I wish they carried a wider variety of roses, but whatever roses they do have, look fresh most of the time.Their staff is very helpful and friendly and finally, the self checkout is easy and moves fairly quickly even when people have a cart full of groceries.

The only grocery store around with Cosmic Crisp Apples, however they have no SweetTarts. For those of you who, like m, judge grocery stores by these two keystone metrics, you will find yourself conflicted. For everyone else, its a fine store which appeals to a consumer desirous of slightly dimmer than typical interior, and a very particular assortment.

A standard Safeway with an attended meat counter during the daytime hours. Vegetables can be expensive here but are of generally good quality/value. But better options exist nearby.The parking lot is large, but driveways are very narrow, especially if someone does not pull all the way forward into the space.Starbucks can be found inside.Automatic checkout stations shut down by 11 pm.Cellular signal is virtually nonexistent in-store, and Safeways wifi is perplexingly bad; so much so that the Safeway app is useless while in-store. Load your coupons before entering.Staff are helpful and friendly.

Always dependable, Safeway carries everything you need. Usually clean store. Often they run out of specials but they do give a rain check if you can remember where it is and remember to use it. Prices have really gone up this year. You only get the sale price if you use their loyalty card. I only buy the loss leaders here except I am a fan of the house brand bathroom tissue, Softly.

I bought a half-gal 2% Lucerne milk. Unfortunately it leaked while I finished shopping in petco. It was at least easy to exchange the milk but the first 3 cartoons of milk had the same defect at the top of the container which was open to the air and leaking if inverted or slight pressure. I informed an older employee who was stocking the bakery around 645 pm that those 3 containers were defective. She told me very rudely that it wasnt her problem and that I needed to inform the front. Ive worked plenty of retail and service jobs myself. These milk cartoons are not closed and could make people sick. I could not believe her reaction.

Whoever was in charge working customer service at about 4:30ish on 7/9/23 needs to be re-trained on how to deal with citizens over 50, as her actions could be construed as age discrimination. I was with my mother, who was going in circles with this younger woman who also accused my mother of having an attitude ( which she wasnt). Once I entered the conversation, the womans tone changed. If people cant handle people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds, maybe the customer service arena is the wrong job or occupation path. My mother still didnt get her issue resolved, and we left. I should not have had to get into the conversation for my mom to be treated with any semblance of respect. Do better Safeway!

Went in at 1pm today to buy the Fried Chicken special, they told me to wait for 20-25 minutes as they were making. After waiting for 15 minutes, they told me the Fried Chicken is no longer available until 4pm. It seems like the employees working here like to play with the customers and wasting their time?There is another Safeway that is just 1.5 miles down to the street. Go to that one instead of this one if you dont want to end up being played by the employees.

Poor management.This store is routinely out of shopping baskets. The employees blame theft, but other Safeways in the area never have this problem. This location is not in a more dangerous area or otherwise atypical.It is greatly irritating to be told “just use a cart”. The store is too crowded for people to use large shopping carts for 5-10 small items.I have complained to corporate multiple times, and I am about to start holding them accountable too.

A more clean feeling compares to other Safeway. The line aren’t that long too for self-checkout. However, their recycling bottles machine were full and they only take it in the mornings. I wish it was morning and night cycle. Also beware, last time the store said it was open until 2 AM but when I was there around 1 AM, the store was closed. Disappointed but not surprised

One of the nicer Safeways around. Its pretty and usually well-stocked. My only complaint is the parking lot, thought its a large one, is kind of strangely set up so that parking is rarely easy. Very clean and bright, and open late! Is it 9pm and you realized that you forgot to put meat out to thaw? This place is perfect! The place is relaxed and calm, with the cashiers giving a warm smile and workers not minding the occasional question on the floor. This store is consistently crowded from 3 to 7 pm. I would recommend to stay away during these times. Lines are super long. Cashiers are slower than average. Lines are between food aisles so if you happen to be looking for an item, you are trying to maneuver in between the folks waiting in line. They encourage social distancing but the layout of the store makes it a challenge. Great selection of items. However, the soda section was scarce. Unsure if the shipment was running behind or an influx of purchases during the holiday season. Attempted to be proactive and try the online curbside service, however that even had a 24 to 48 hour ordering queue so it would be highly unlikely if you want to purchase groceries and pick up on same day. Parking is decent. Employee is there at the front wiping carts and there is also sanitizer as well.

Update 9/1/22: I have received a response from someone at Safeway assuring me that the problem will be fixed. However, now, a month later, I am still hunting for carts. I would like to hear from Safeway the deadline for getting the problem corrected.The store routinely lacks shopping carts. It started about a year ago, and has not been fixed since. I complained about it several times, but the store manager seems to ignore the complaints.

I frequent this location due to its proximity to my workplace. It’s always been a good experience to come to this location because of the wide selection of groceries and friendly workers. However, I was disappointed by one worker who reprimanded me for checking that eggs inside a carton were secure and had zero cracks. On the day that the governor opened CA up, this worker yelled at me for opening an egg carton and doing a quality check of the eggs. I lifted one egg to make sure that it was not cracked, and this lady said: “Don’t go touching things and putting it back.” I told her that it was broken. She kept giving me a dirty look so I left with a bad experience. I couldn’t continue shopping and went straight to self checkout. This worker went to the self- checkout employee and complained about our interaction; she demanded to place a sign next to the eggs about not letting their patrons check the products inside. Are we not allowed to check that the products are up to our satisfaction? How is it different for me to check the eggs when other people do the same when picking fresh produce? My problem with my interaction with this specific employee is that she didn’t explain how else I could check for cracked eggs. She didn’t elaborate store policy that patrons are not allowed to touch eggs inside of a carton— which I am pretty sure is not true. This employee only made me feel bad about checking that the product was up to my satisfaction.

This is a 24-hour Safeway location that is only a couple of miles away from its other El Camino location, across from the Sunnyvale Sprouts Farmers Market. Its the larger of the two, easy parking, with other fun stores like REI & Petco nearby in the same plaza is extra convenient. The store is fairly clean but what bothers me is their Friday $5 specials like Fried or Grilled Chickens always run out, one time I went there specially for it they didnt make the chicken tenders - HELLO, its YOUR Friday $5 Safeway Specials, store manager ❗❗🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I frequent this location the most; however, when only one check-out line is open with 9 people standing in line, there needs to be a step-up. There have been so many times I have thought about setting my basket down & walking out because I feel the customer service is poor. Some of the checkers are great at engaging with customers, I have favorites. On a different note I think the store needs to plant some secret shoppers to review their customer service. Some of the service comes with bad attitudes, talking to everyone but the customers, or having no ability to handle problems when they occur. I would do self checkout, but often due to purchasing wine I have to stand in line & wait. Our Safeway stores in Los Angeles had 3-4 checkout stations to make sure there were no more than 3 people waiting per checkout. The store is nice, but it would be great to see some changes.

I like Safeway, and have been a regular customer for more than 20 years. However, recently, the prices have been really outrageous. Their produce is usually pretty good, but paying $2.50 for a head of lettuce is a bit ridiculous. This particular Safeway is also very busy, and they arent the best at adding more check out clerks, so you can often wait behind 6 or 7 people before paying. That said, their employees are mostly very nice, and many have been there for years, so its nice to see a familiar face.

Update: Theyve gotten better in 2022.This used to be a pretty good market, but has really gone downhill lately. They are TERRIBLE about keeping things stocked. Basics like milk and orange juice are always completely cleaned out, with only the most expensive brands remaining. Theyve been hiking prices all through 2020, with ribeye steak even hitting $32/lb throughout the summer. The steak isnt even particularly fresh, with brown, fouled spots occasionally appearing on meat that was labeled as packed on the same day. Produce is about 5x as expensive here.The cost for a full basket of groceries here is about 30% higher than any other Safeway, and twice as high as some of the smaller markets. Its just not worth it to go to this Safeway anymore.

I have scheduled grocery pick up on two occasions, and selected specific pickup times, only to have them tell me that the pickup times are only guidelines (not strict reservations). I stopped in on 12/3/2020 and checked out at 9:09 A.M.; I did not pay attention to the clerk’s name who was working at the self-serve check out area.As I was putting my items down, I pulled my mask down to blow my nose since my allergies started acting up (there was only me and the clerk at the checkout area). The clerk rudely asked me to put my mask back up; I told him I was blowing my nose and would put my mask back on shortly. All potential shoppers should be aware that at this store, line-jumping and line-cutting is apparently allowed, with no attempt made on the part of store-employees to keep it under control. Good store. Its big and clean with a good selection. The lines can be a little long during peak hours, and I dont like the parking lot layout. There could be more spaces close to the store entrance.

Staff Jose is rude and judgmental.While I was with my dog in the store, Jose came from nowhere and directly told me in a condescending way: please don’t drag your dog. I was shocked because I didn’t even feel leash being pulled. He said so only because he saw my dog lying on floor, which my dog likes doing every day.He refused to apologize after I explained that the pup likes doing that all the time. I felt very offended and uncomfortable. Safeway should train their employees to be polite and professional.

The worst of the local Safeway locations. I once got sushi with a pill in the wasabi. A cashier once made me wait while she went to the aisle because she was sure if I bought more soda Id get a discount. I had diet in my cart; she brought back sugared, and there was no discount. I could give more examples but there are 3 other Safeways within a few miles and none have ever given me as bad service as this one.

I only came here to use the DMV kiosk to instantly receive my registration and sticker. There is a catch though- DMV will charge you 2% for using a credit card. I didnt mind because when I paid online it took 2 months and a phone call to receive my stuff because of the Covid pandemic. Id rather take my stuff now for a small fee than risk getting lost in the queue again.

Much better than the Safeway on Bernardo Ave. It could be stocked better though, since shelves tend to get pretty empty later in the evening. It also has insanely long lines even as most of the registers are closed.

Employee wanted to ban me forever and called the police...I encountered a homeless man outside of Safeway yesterday and denied his friendly request to buy him some juice. Afterwards I felt bad, he had asked about my day, had a nice demeanor and really just wanted some juice. Tonight, after purchasing my groceries, I found the homeless man outside reading a book, after a friendly hello and an exchange of names I offered to buy Mike some food. After we filled up a hand basket and paid for our food, an employee named Jose confronted us on our way out. Jose proceeded to tell Mike hes not allowed here. Jose was quick to come to conclusions and was surprised when I stopped him from harassing Mike. Jose told me to leave and that hes not talking to me. I told him that Mike was with me. Jose said hes tired of him begging for food. I clarified that I was the one who offered to buy Mike dinner and that he was kindly reading a book outside. I affirmed that the two of us were paying customers, minding our own business. Jose continued to confront us and told me that if I didnt leave he would ban me from the store and call the police. I told him that we wanted to leave but he was the one who stopped us. Jose proceeded to call the police so I stayed to talk with the officer. After Jose told the officer that Mike was pandering, I clarified the situation and the police ended up leaving without citing Mike.I understand how easy it is to judge someone based on their appearance. I get that Jose probably had reason to make those conclusions based on previous experiences, however, there was no reason to escalate the situation and make it an incident. At the end of the night, it was a waste of the officers time, Jose/Safeways time, and now they have an upset customer. I hope this was an isolated incident and that it was simply just an employee who deviated from an established training program.

Great selection on a huge variety of items. Good prices on specials but regular prices on some other items sometimes seem high. Very clean store and usually minimal lines. If I want do do all my shopping in one place, this is usually my go to place.

Would give 0 stars if it was an option. Staff was rude.an employee told me to take my dog out of the shopping cart. I said I would I just needed to finish paying and put my card away. She proceeded to get in my face and loudly tell me to remove my dog. I finished paying and left as soon as possible but saw that behavior as unnecessary. My pup was just minding his business

Well before the change in the pharmacy the pharmacist used to call me when anything was changed or not approved and would do all he could including calling my doctors or sending faxes on my behalf because he knew how much I needed my meds. The new pharmacist now tells me theres a problem when I arrive walking into an unexpected surprise, and then told to go over to the other window and call and have my doctor fax over some information,well by that time the doctors office is clossed and the pharmacist wont even order my meds until she receives the fax which now is the begining of a four day weekend, but when I called two days before she said nothing when I asked her to order my meds until I got there to find she hadnt even done that!!! Its very disappointing, so I get to suffer for at the very least 6 days. Good thing the food is fresh and plentiful or we would really have problems.

Please retrain the manager. He could not understand the concept of a gift card and when I tried to provide assistance and tell him that the cashier must scan the gift card for it to work, he snapped at me.
