5 stars for the customer’s service clerk who she helped me to purchase some infant formula today.She was very patient while waiting for me to call my daughter to confirm that I bought the correct formula. She kept her smile at all time and telling me it is okay when I’m apologizing for the delay!She need to be recognized and awarded, not many CSR like her nowadays!The entire store been very well organized and very clean, you can get everything you need for your meals and you household!I would for sure to keep coming back to this Safeway to shop !

I was looking for a particular item from the Safeway website search results. I thought itd be just quicker to get it from a store. I searched the section and could not find it. I then sought some help from one of the staff on the floor, and then tried the Customer Service counter. Both told me they could not help me because they dont have a way to look up their merchandise. I joked about it whether that means they dont even know what they are selling in the store. Both of them just shrugged me off. Maybe thats how a supermarket is run. It certainly does not help the customer. They can also try to be more friendly to make it up a little bit.

This evening as I was shoping & waiting to c/o, it was a long one line assembled. Line was smelly of dogs stench resting inside cart, it was very offensive unhealthy environment. I had meat items I was trying to buy. I walked to head cashier pointed to the fact only 1 cashier posted & asked him to call manager or some assistance. He said not right now even before listening my concerns very rude. I dropped meat items on unattended check stand & left. Two is a crowd as you preach, this store has fallen down on its face. Perhaps health department will be eager to listen our health concerns/issues. As a manager youre doing unsatisfactory job endangering the public.Very bad store indeed - Ill not come there again!!!!!

The store is very well decorated and nicely organised! Good products plus the sales are nice! The only reason for my deduction though is the fact the cashier John was quite rude to me, I asked a question about a sale and he was very abrasive. John was aggressive from the start and completely inhospitable. He even smacked the card reader down to tell me to put my number down, then proceeded to try to gaslight me into saying it just does that, when he obviously put force behind it. I spoke with a manager and another worker who was very kind, corroborated my statement. The manager herself was also great and accommodating, it was just John. He was also having slight problems with other customers from what I noticed (price check, expired ID) but thats no need to put that negative energy onto me just because I was the next customer. Ive never had to speak to a manager in my life before but this was just unacceptable. Nice store other than John!

One entrance locked at 630am, no doubt due to theft. Safeway app bait-and-switched, I didnt get the deal I clicked on. Typical. This being The Bay Area (and Safeway) the prices are appalling. Bananas were very nice. The only reasonably priced apples were beat up.

I get my entire weeks shopping done in under 2 minutes (compared to an average 30 minutes) using Safeways Drive Up & Go (8 am to 8 pm). Order the items using the Safeway app and a pickup time. Youll get a text message saying ready for pickup. Drive to the two Drive Up & Go parking spots, call the number written on the board in front, and an employee will drop your orders in your cars boot. Really convinient!

Midtown Safeway is a frustrating experience. It is stocked okay, which is why it gets a 2-star rating, but it seems to be way understaffed and the staff on duty seem unmotivated and demoralized. I do not usually go there. Today is a perfect example why. The inventory in my cart wasn’t found when scanned. It took 15 minutes for a manager to show up and deal with it. Everybody standing in line was stuck waiting, too.

Went shopping at this Safeway again and will never return. Was at self checkout with these two massive soda containers and I am accused of stealing before I even get to pay. Yelled at and publicly humiliated in front of everyone else at self checkout for no reason. Ive never had such a horrible experience in my life and I have no reason as to why shed accuse me of this other than I am brown.

Usually I have a good time here but I recently did a pick up order and got milk but once I got home and was putting the groceries away I realize they gave me a milk that expired the day of and it had black stuff around the lid and carton, I’m not very pleased with this!

Sanitized carts, employees wear masks & big aisles. 1 of the best Safeways around San Jose. Can get very crowded though. Restrooms are available always for the public, loved safeways because I work on the road and they never fail or reject you to relieve yourself for a restroom break. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great food selections like most safeways. Not rundown like the Berryessa one is. Coming back for the next grocery trip. Came here on separate trip and the florist was amazing, super professional and knows how to give customer service!!! Ty for you kindness & help!

Very clean. Love the remodeling... That one short over weight manager needs to smile. She looks like she wants to kill everyone. (Ill add her name when she puts on her name tag) Great job on the security guard... Way to protect everyone... No he did not have his mask of his nose for a second. I seen him that way when I was walking in. While I was shopping. As he trolls the aisles checking on everyone. This picture I took of him waiting in line to pay. NO EXCUSES! Being a people watcher, it can sometimes be entertaining when I visit. The store is clean and the employees are nice. I have only one issue, the busy lines, and I dont mean the wait. Im talking about the disorder. People block the walkway to form a line all the time. Safeway should come up with some guidelines / mark the floor to show customers where to stand to form the line and not block the main pathway.

Thieving homeless literally live on the Safeway property, and they do nothing to protect their customers.I had (most of) my bike stolen from right in front of the entrance…. waited around… and a thief came back to take more parts. I followed him and he lived on the back wall of the Safeway (on race street). Of course I can’t go into the “encampment” to get my belongings and neither would the police. The store manager looked at camera tapes but it was useless.Maybe they shouldn’t let criminals live in their property?I found the store ok… except for the complete lack of safety. until they stop harboring criminals, I will not shop here again.

I love this store. It has the largest selection in the South Bay. As you can see from my photos, they are ready for Valentines Day coming in a couple of days. Theyre fresh produce and meat counters are always as well stocked as they can be. The staff that works here is absolutely fantastic. I shop with DoorDash so I see them a lot more than their average customer. Every single one of them is friendly and helpful when you need to find something.

They closed the self checkout line and I waited 30 minutes in line for 3 items. Homeless people are also camping out front by the bike racks, and I had difficulties locking my bike there. This Safeway use to be great. Not sure what’s happening to it.Selection still good, and deals are unbeatable too. I’ll still return but will set my expectations much lower.

My least favorite Safeway. I go way out of my way to shop at another Safeway because they are often out of sale items (5 dollar Friday deals) and they are the slowest with never enough registers open for the amount of people. Writing this Post while in Line Plus 5 people behind me and the cashier will not get help. She (Another employee said her name was Cherry)is rude and said NO she is in charge of this line when a customer asked for another checker. And yes she is trying to be quick and helpful attitude is not the Answer. Granted it is 12:20 AM on Valentines Morning. But I find this a bit Extreme. The line just keeps getting longer and longer behind me. Its more than 1/2 the legnth of the Isle. Someone Help Please!!!! I like this store. Its clean, the shelves and produce are always well stocked, and the management keeps an eye on lines so when it gets busy, theyll usually open more registers, at least they do that in my experiences shopping there, and Ive been shopping there for close to a year. Yeah, this is one of the better Safeways in San Jose in my opinion.

Ive never been racially profiled in my life before shopping at this location. Wearing leggings and a t-shirt I was accused of stealing; I had purchased two twelve packs of sodas and a couple of energy drinks. Please tell me how realistically a 51 girl is going to run off with all this? I can barely even carry one of the boxes! I had not even paid yet and I was being yelled at for no reason, my items were searched, and I was lectured. I did not say anything at the time because I was so confused as to what was even happening. You dont get to treat people like this just because you dont like them. Your typical Safeway. Theyve got all the grocery items youd expect and the place is kept clean. We went at 1 am and there were some questionable characters in the parking lot, but theyre open until 2 am so its nice if you need to grab something late.

Recently started shopping here since Im new to this area of San Jose. First occasion I got home and realized I didnt receive one of my items l, searched my car and still nothing. It was only a pack of tortillas. Thought it was odd but its an item that was on my receipt. Went again a few more times. Went again tonight and noticed when I got home I was without my boneless chicken breast. Once again on my receipt and still nowhere to be found. Only times Ive ever had items missingin my life after shopping. I wanted to go and have them review the camera footage but I feel they will give me some excuse and it would take more time than its worth. Last time I tried to speak to a manager she was on her break. They said 15 minutes, I waited 25 and they said she just barely went on it so another 15. Wasnt waiting 40 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this? Will be using self checkout only from now on. Sad I cant use whichever line is shortest.

Place is clean but limited on variety and hardly ever has all the self checks open. They are going through a face lift so hopefully things will be better after but it seems that organization still has a way to go. Staff is usually professional if you have to interact with them. Shopping carts tend to be short at times perhaps due to collection frequency.They have added a lot of self checkout stations but typically not all are available to use.The bank in the store has been closed.

Its not 100% clean/tidy (as any Safeway), but the lines arent usually long, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Theres also an EV charging station, for those that want to take advantage of that as well.

The store is very organized and has various isles of your basic products/essentials. The different sections in the store are labeled in big letters so it eases finding the things you need.Everything is decently clean and now has a variety of different foods like vegetarian and vegan pastries so you should check those out if youre interested! 👍

I love buying the fruit bowls which are great. Today i has a reward but for some reason it didnt work. I was charged $2.00 for one small avocado. I went to the front desk and Maria V. Did not acknowledge me. Walked by, went to a register to help a coworker, walked by again, went into the small office, then came out. She never said hello or can i help you. She just made eye contact like here I am, what do you want. I explained what happened, she grabbed the avocado, slammed it down then proceeded with the refund. Only words she said was dont hit the green button and wrote your card. No dirty for the inconvenience or have a good day at the end. I chose my Safeways based on customer service. More than likely wont return to this one.

This store has a DMV KIOSK and it kept giving me problems. A very nice Safeway employee Saw that I was having difficulty and came up and asked if Id like help. He walked me through it, showed me why I was having problems, and I easily completed my business. It clearly wasnt his primary job and I like that he went out of his way to help.

Its a nice, big, modern supermarket. Produce is outstanding - I am in walking distance to Whole Foods, but Safeway is generally better for fruits and veggies. Selection is very good, all the staples and a lot of specialty items. Serviceable Latino & Asian sections. Very good bakery. Staff is very nice, but overstretched and overworked, so wait times at peak times can be bad.

I love this store. Great Meat, Great Deli, Great Pharmacy, a Great branch of the Wells-Fargo Bank, Great Produce, Great Dairy. Clean Sore. No funky odors. Carefully and Frequently Sanitized. Caring Management. Several Real Live Humans who are there at the real Cash Registers. Major Complaint... A bit of attitude if youre walking in and ask to use the bathrooms or ask for the Bathroom Door Code. This is not the best Safeway the world has to offer, but it isnt the worst either. I find it to be convenient, as far as location is concerned. It is very centrally located and the, go too for people living in the Rose Garden, Burbank, Willow Glen & Downtown San Jose areas.Its often very crowded during the hours of 5 pm and 7 p.m.and weekends, especially Sundays, can be a nightmare.They do offer Self Service Checkout, which helps keep the lines down a little bit during the peak hours. Oh, & if you go in after midnight, expect to stand in line, for sure, or expect to go hunting for a checker. late night shopping can be tricky, when almost every aisle is littered with boxes and a night stalker with headphones on & they arent there to help you find what you need. Should you ask one of these headphone wearing night stalkers where the mayo is; be prepared to receive the classic eye roll, or sigh, or to be ignored, completely. After all, you are not a customer if you arrive after midnight, you are just, in their way.I almost forgot to mention that they have a menacing Ninja security guard that is there to welcome you and help to see you out.In closing, its just conveniently located, at best.

I just wanted to update my review - I have nearly always had a great experience at this location, and when things arent perfect the staff always goes out of their way to make them better. I wanted to give a shout out to Christina (who if she isnt a manager, should be, and if she is in fact the manager she is destined for GMing multiple stores) and Antonia, who is always been helpful and nice every time I need help. People like this are part of what keep me coming back to a store even with other options in the area!

This my go to grocery store. If I have trouble finding something, chances are good Ill find it here. Theyve done very well since the shortages in the spring to have good availability of paper products, and disinfectants. Plus, theyre keeping a reasonable handle on prices, and offer discounts to offset others. The staff are good at the Covid precautions, and the patrons are complying. I feel very comfortable and reasonably safe here.

This was my home store for the longest time but not since I have moved. The store itself looks nice but the staff are quite lacking. As I walked into the store, down aisles and even into the self checkout ; I didnt even receive even one greeting, hello or smile. The self checkout had numerous issues which I really hope they fix. It is a nice looking store if the staff can catch up the store will be a great place to shop.

I often shop at Safeway stores for personal and work. What I enjoy about Safeway is they bake most everything they sell in the bakery dept. They have good deals on certain items as advertised. However, I was a little disappointed in the minimal selection of cakes out on the tables today. I was also looking for other type of baked pies, such as berry pies or peach pies, but all I found was a half of a larger pie sell price of $6....didnt buy it.The other thing I noticed before exiting was a young man and another man at the coin machine by the entrance doing some type of transaction. As I continued to go out to my car while putting groceries in the trunk I noticed one of the men out front of store waiting on the younger man to return from his car which was near mine. It looked like he was doing something at his car and then returned to the other guy and disappeared into the store again...they didnt work there (evident by no uniform or name tag) but for sure was up to something. My guess, something illegal. That would be one of the biggest draw backs to this location is the druggies and homeless people that hang around out in the parking lot. I always make sure to check out my surroundings when going to this Safeway to shop for work which is not often. I also make sure not to leave things out in the open inside my car. Otherwise, the Staff are friendly and helpful.

This is my main grocery store.The store employees are pleasant and helpful.The prices are reasonable for the area, and good when you use their reward program.The produce tends to be of good quality and ripeness.The selection of products is good; generally when I need to pick up some groceries somewhere else as well its because I need a specialty item for Asian or Mexican food beyond the generally pretty workable sections they have.There are sometimes problems with the ice cream freezers. Real problems. Theyve worked on that, but so far without complete success. (Guess who loves ice cream?)

This store is perfectly located walking distance from me so I can get some steps in when I go. There hours of operation are convenient for early birds or night owls. Their shelves are always full of any store items I have shopped for. The produce sections is fresh and tidy and clean. It was so easy to get an employee to grab a juice on the top shelf that was all the way in the back. When I thanked him he told me it was no problem. He was hired because he was tall enough to reach up there. There are directions to follow to allow proper social distancing. There were only a few ppl in the store. After I got all I could remember being there to buy and there was no possible way I could carry any more I waited in line for a minute or so before I made it to self check out. Whole experience was pain and stress free. I like the store now more than a year ago because of the more relaxed atmosphere.

Love this store. It features lots of items that are marked 50% off, you just have to look for the yellow sticker on the item. Lots of Deli items & sandwiches that have that sticker on them. In the back of the store there is a whole rack by the bakery dept that has day old bakery items at 50%off. If you shop smart you can get out by paying under $20.00! Lucky California Supermarket does not have this at all and you end up paying much more

Parked my car in this Safeway parking lot, and they called to towing company to tow my car once 1 hour passed even their signage says 2 Hours Parking. I tried to contact the manager who called up the towing, and never get connected. I wasted $425 for parking there for 1 hour which is NOT a violation. Trash people with trash area.

However, Im more than one occasion, Ive overheard staff talking about customers based on the way they look. Just because a person looks homeless, doesnt mean they are stealing. Instead of any apology at all, I was scolded for not keeping my receipt and not told how it could be resolved even as he went to another register to issue a store credit. He then handed it me with a here you go, still no explanation or apology, and I had to ask what the balance on the card was because he didnt hand me a receipt along with it.

Wow what a busy place I was there Sunday afternoon and in particular I was there because I needed a branch of Wells Fargo bank that was open on a Sunday . Not only was it open it was staffed fully, by all accounts it was staffed with efficient competent staff. For sure my interaction whats the website I tell her that was completely proficient at their jobs. I interacted with several of the staff and found them all to be pleasant nice people who get at their jobs I recommend you use this Branch if youre in that area and its a large Safeway store with very busy but with a great selection. Typically if I cant find something; the staff is quite courteous and fastidious to assist.Theyve offered me extra monopoly tickets during the sweepstakes giveaway; and when I went in to redeem my free coupons from the sweepstakes winnings; which items I couldnt find; they graciously provided me with a raincheck.The store is clean and well organized. Nice size store. I took a star off because the last Saturday morning I was there at 610 am. The store was to open at 5am. but they changed the times to 6am. Google still says 5am. I was there for the last hour before closing of 2am. Usually at closing of any store employee are serious and tired. The attending cashier was smiley and upbeat. His positive attitude came across when he made two of the stores announcements of so many minutes before closing. The floral/balloon department is amazing tho! 2 weeks ago, I came in to buy a balloon bouquet and I was informed that the hi-float nozzle wasnt working, so the balloons would only be good for about 8hrs. My heart was crushed because I needed the balloons for later in the day. One of the ladies, Rebecca offered to have them ready later, so the helium would last. Its Safeway, they have everything you expect a large grocery store to have. All food from things like the olive bar are now prepackaged for safety. Probably a good idea anyway. All employees wear masks. There are sheets of clear plastic hung up to separate the self check-out stations. Overall it feels clean and you can find everything you need for normal grocery shopping.

All walks of life frequent this location, from homeless to tweakers to families to business professionals, so this location is a judge-free one where one can smoke next to their vehicle and enjoy it without guilt or shame. When the sun goes down, The Freaks Come Out At Night with a few The Hills Have Eyes wanderers. The employees are a bit short, Im sure due to all the nightlife streets crowd, which is understandable. One in particular stands out and she normally tends to the self check out, and you can hear her frustration when shes experiencing it with customers. Today I personally received a sample of it and it sure rubbed me wrong. Im an avid user of public restrooms so I was driving by and decided to make a quick pitstop. I know right now alot of public restrooms are locked with a code lock. So I asked this impatient employee for the code. Now mind you, I drink lots of liquids and never go to the bathroom at first feeling of discomfort, not smart I know. Without even making any eye contact let alone acknowledging my presence, she says the code is on the receipt where it says bathroom code and then just walked away. I asked, should I wait by the bathroom for you? No response at all. Luckily there was someone leaving right as I was walking up. But theres my venting along with a little about this Safeway location. I recommend this, if you can grocery shop at a different location, then do so, if you cant then keep expectations low and do your grocery shopping (surprisingly they do have a lot of product with stocked shelves along with a good variety selection of choices). You really gotta visit this location and make your own assessment, youre gonna like it dislike it, no real in between. Good luck!

I dont ask much from my grocery store experience; they need to have a good deli selection, good bakery selection, and good produce and national brands. This is the closest store to my house so I come here frequently. The aforementioned departments are acceptable there, but the meat and seafood dept is disappointing. Bananas are always over ripe. I can deal with that if the customer service would be better, but every time Im there I have to bag my own groceries! That is a deal breaker for me, especially when I spend over $200 per shopping. So this store has always been my childhood go to store, the more time has passed the more it has evolved, but it always kept the same neighborhood vibe. Some workers can be pushy or in a hurry which could be a good thing but can also make people feel uncomfortable. Something understandable to both parties, but the store itself is well kept, always find what I’m looking for, has self checkout which is super convenient if in a hurry. One thing I would say that this location has struggled with and will probably struggle with the most is occasional homeless or loitering. They do have security on sight in the store and out at times but in the 15 years of going to this site specifically. I have never been harmed or hurt in any way, inside and out of the store, never been approached or harassed which might scare people away but do not be scared. Anywhere you go any person no matter who, can hurt someone so try to avoid the stereotype label of homeless = bad. But it is always not the best store anyone should have their own feelings and preferred store :)! Just an over view!

The staff are slow and not helpful. They seem like they hate their lives. They dont like to be asked for help, and they seem irritated often. I only shop there for the deals.I am changing my star to the lowest this review will let me. I would give a negative star if there was any to give. The security guard has harassed not only me but other people of color on multiple occasions. I was accused of shoplifting because I was wearing a backpack. And when I told the racist manager that she needs to do something about it she said she is not the person who is in charge of him and put her headphones back on while stocking groceries. When I told her she was a terrible manager and did nothing to diffuse a customer dispute while the security guard blurted profanity at me repeatedly; her response was that she is in the union and good luck with trying to get her fired. I started visiting this Safeway location just about a year ago. Its a convenient location for me to drop in and pick up lunch first thing in the morning before headed to work. I appreciate the deli being open for service at 7 in the morning, however; its extremely frustrating when you go for a deli sandwich and they are serving you bread from two days ago. By the time I attempted to eat the sandwich a couple hours after ordering it I had to throw the entire thing away due to the stale bread. I thought maybe it was a one-time fluke so I gave them another try. I have come to realize using stale bread seems to be their new thing. I can only imagine that theyre going to blame it on COVID-19. Come on Safeway live up to all the hype surrounded by your brand... pull it back in, retrain where needed, and get back to serving fresh product.

If it were not for the cashier Israel at the counter in front Right of this store my mother and I would have abandoned our cart and walked out tonight. As many others did as we viewed the many abandoned cart and carriers throughout our shopping trip this evening. My mother loves the excellent selections on products here at this Safeway telling me before we traveled their how wonderful it is. The Store was extremely busy with only 2 cashiers in front and lines backed up at both registers and self checkout to the back of the huge store. Israel was a blessing as my mother was in pain from her foot acting up, he took us swiftly in as well as others observing the dilemma. I may visit few more times instead of Target, because it is closer to the bus stop & comparable prices. Midtown Safeway is a very large store. Great inventory of goods. One stop shopping for even the hard to please. They have fresh vegetable kabobs daily.They make their own salsas and guacamole. They have regular and organic products in the store.Its very safe for shopping during covid 19. The employees all wear masks and have plexiglas shields at all the registers. The only difference is that you are not required to wear a mask. Employees still do. Indoors, I would still recommend wearing them.

There are usually people asking for money outside and occasionally a car is broken into. Not enough Checkers! Safeway is attempting to replace jobs with computerized self-checkout. Every Safeway store has long lines with only 2 or 3 Checkers available. The store I visited today had only 3 Checkers with 5 or 6 customers in each line and no more Checkers available. My frozen food purchases completely melted by the time I got to the front of the line. I was stopped at the entrance of having a backpack by a caucasian Safeway worker wearing a pink zebra mask on 5/5/2020 around 6 PM. She told me that my backpack (which I keep my wallet in) was not allowed, so my friend had to stand outside with it. I livrle at the 808 down the street and walked, so I did not have a convenient place to put it. Hilariously, she said I could my backpack outside and go inside. But when I walked around the store there were 4-5 people who had backpacks and were basically all Caucasian. I was upset, because it seemed like the woman singled me out for being Asian and a minority. The message clearly to me is that minorities are not allowed backpacks because your store thinks we steal. It is pretty disheartening when I confronted her about it and she said that people just walk on through and argue, so I should just try it. I brought it up with a cashier about how inappropriate the zebra-masked woman was and how snippy she was at me for asking how fair it was to let people who looked like her in with backpacks but not me. Either you should enforce this for everyone and not let people through, or dont be so hateful and rude when asked why she let people in anyways. I get we are on edge for new rules, but as a nurse, I didnt think I needed to deal with lowkey racism like this either after work.

May 12, 2018 about 12:00 amI entered Safeway to make a Wells Fargo Bank deposit. I then walked over to the wine aisle, as I was deciding which wine to choose the security guard walked up on me. I asked him why he was standing next to me, I had no intentions on stealing anything. I then grabbed my wine to cross over to the deli section, he then followed me, and then asked him to get out of my personal space, he then said “I don’t speak English”. I was so upset I could not continue shopping. I was just assaulted and needed some wine. I feel like I was assaulted again. When I asked Mike the cashier for the manager, he defended the security guard. I no longer feel safe going to Safeway after 11:00 pm.

This Safeway is in one of those locations where the increase of residents in the area and along with a rise in the unfortunate folks this store is under sized for the demand so the store is depressing because the employees have to here the same lame complaint. I have been in this store and watched 2 dumbasses walk passed the line and head for the door with 3 cases of beer they made it to there car but the employees now are all excited and have to fill out an incident report. People customers all need to imagine what its like on the side. I live close I have learned to shop at late night early morning early and youll find just what you want those hours are from 2:15am to 8:00am especially Friday.

The women at the deli are rude and seem to have a problem when you ask them to ring you up. They refused to ring up a line of 4 or 5 people. The men insist they dont have access to a register. Its just inconvenient especially to people whose lunch breaks are only half an hour.

Store employees, cleanliness and the people in the parking lot prompt this low rating. Ive been to this location several times, different times and days of the week including weekends. Each time I have encountered cashiers (both checkout line and service counter) who lack customer service skills, unapproachable stock associates, outdated or very short pull dates on food items, trash both in and outside the store, indescribable conditions in the restrooms, and a loitering squad either begging, selling cds or attempting to steal. Avoid this location if possible.

This along with poor customer service has made me shop at smaller friendlier places like sprouts. Its not like Safeway is cheap either. Go to whole foods or sprouts and save the frustration.

I just had one of thee most horrible experiences at the Mid Town Safeway. I usually never go there but just getting out of work, my usual Safeway was closed. The female manager was not a vert happy person. I would have to say she humiliated me in front of a short line of people. I just think if your unhappy with your job you shouldnt be there. I will never set a foot in that filthy Safeway ever again. What ever happened to a friendly welcoming smile and satisfactory customer service ????

I feel like I have to go to three Safeway’s to grab everything that I need. Need to do a better job with ordering. Especially items that you’re ALWAYS out of. This is a well maintained Safeway, even though the parking lot would suggest otherwise. Its location in San Jose means its surrounded by a kaleidoscope of interesting characters, but they usually just keep (talk) to themselves. I would suggest caution; however, if it was late at night or really early in the morning.

I work close by this Safeway, which makes it ideal to go shop at before and after work. The main reason I go this Safeway is to enjoy the bakery but over the last few months Ive noticed their breakfast and sandwiches arent kept up to standards. The food ends up tasting as if they are left out for too long, stale bread, old veggies, and the worst is the meat. Im sure that there are some health concerns and some policies that havent been met. Ive actually gotten sick and had to go home from work after eating a sandwich on my lunch. Gross.

This Safeway is big and has a huge parking lot. Ive never had a problem in the 5 years that Ive been shopping here. Try to avoid the busier hours though, as it gets very crowded very quickly.

Midtown safeway is a somewhat large structure & has a large inventory of good stuff & usually enough staff on hand to let you go about your day without waiting in lines for a million years,lol. The biggest drawback in my mind is the excessive homeless population inevitably hanging out in front. But, when you except that there really harmless its not really a big deal, so, with a big parking lot included Id say its a pretty cool place to shop.

Lines to check-out are often long in the evening and on weekends. Only a few check-out stations are ever open. The store seems very understaffed.After waiting in line 20 minutes or more to buy groceries, be prepared for the panhandlers in the parking lots as you leave. Ive been approached by as many as three different panhandlers in one visit. They use props to request money: an empty gas can, their child, etc.I live near this store but stopped shopping there because of it was so time-consuming and annoying to go there. I now drive past this Safeway and shop 2 miles farther away at Safeway on Hamilton Avenue.

I ask the cashier if someone could open the self-checkout lanes, but she (very politely) explained that since no one was working there at the moment, it couldn’t be opened. She then tried to use the intercom to call for help, but her microphone didn’t work. She asked a passing boxboy to get someone from the back. He looked offended, walked very slowly around two tables in the produce department, and then headed towards the back. Now 12 people in line. I gave up.

If it wasnt for the Wells Fargo ATM at this Midtown Safeway store I would never go there. The parking lot is always dirty and they have the shittiest customers at that store. I mean drug addicts mentally ill, very confrontational people who want to start fights with you in the parking lot, confrontational customers who get into shouting matches with employees. This is the worst Safeway store Ive ever been to. I used to go there a lot but one day I almost got into a fight with some guy in the parking lot because he thought I was driving too fast and I wasnt. only going 5 miles an hour. I really do love this Safeway. Thedeli area ids usually whereIm at when Im here. They have the most attentive people working in that section. I usually grab a sandwich for lunch and they have only a few but good signature sandwiches or they could make anything you would prefer.

Worse Safeway ever, I go do my groceries their because its right by my house and convinient, every time its a 25 to 30 minutes wait to go true the cash register! Every week I asked the manager when will they add some new employees/cashier and same answer they are working on it, but nothing changes! The community is growing left and right, adding more and more peoples, new apartment building, new condos and this Safeway does nothing to help their overworked employees.. Safeway on Meridian and San Carlos / Race Street I swear must have the highest dollar profit per employee in all of Safeway stores. There’s never more than one check out person working their many many check out lanes.If I were employee I’d demand a big huge raise. Because the owner of this location, is walking away with an exorbitant amount of profit at the expense of everyone else’s time and energy.Slowest Checkout I experience on the west coast and I shop at Safeway’s from San Luis to Tahoe > Northern California, Oregon, and Washington (that’s where I buy my lunches while traveling) so I have relative experience in what I am saying.I like this store’s selection of organics but geez, could you hire some people please?

Easy to find. Very clean, well stocked, and the produce was beautiful. The one person i talked to was very helpful even though they were all restocking.
