On August 21st, 2023, I had a negative experience at Safeway on Miramonte, which stood out against the others. It made me reflect on the many microaggressions Ive experienced every time Ive shopped there. Since Im a regular shopper at that location and have become familiar with many employees, Ive noticed they no longer eye me up and down or follow me around the store. However, a small Hispanic lady did not warm up to me. But who cares? Everyone isnt going to like you.I was working and saw an associate who happens to also be African American at another self-checkout machine. When I noticed him, the lady watched him like a hawk as he bought his chips and a soda. I had fifteen items. When I approached the machine, she positioned herself against the back wall less than two feet away, with no social distance at all. Although extremely uncomfortable, I let it slide because I was masked up and only had fifteen items.As I scanned my items quickly, machines beeped as other customers rang up their items and needed help. The little lady kept running around, returning to my personal space damn near out of breath each time. I scanned some vegetables that the machine did not recognize, and it asked for assistance. She acted as if she couldnt see me, even managing to look over me, until I spoke. With a huff and a puff, she moved to the machine, pressed buttons with much attitude, and pulled up recordings of me scanning and putting things on the scale. She started looking and comparing the items on the scale, shook her head, and said she couldnt help me.I explained that she could count the items or look them over, but I needed her to clear the machine. She told me no, saying that I was stealing. I explained that I was a shopper and that it was not my money. I have no reason to steal while spending other peoples money. I asked to speak with a manager, but she said no and walked away. I pulled out my phone, and she flipped her badge around and started running away as I snapped pictures. I followed her to the customer service door, where she ran inside and told another guy I was stealing.I explained to the male worker that I was a personal shopper and could not check out because she said I was stealing. I requested to speak with a manager and to pay for my items so I could continue working. Another employee happened by and asked what was going on. I again requested to speak with a manager and was told she was in a meeting. She walked me over to the self-checkout machine I was using, pressed a few buttons, and told me I could pay for my order.She apologized and told me the manager would contact me because Safeway does not condone that behavior. She acknowledged knowing I was a gig worker and always seeing me.It has been over four months, and I am still waiting to hear from Safeways management. I avoided the Safeway for a while and went to other Safeways when I could.Ive since been back and seen all the people involved, but I have yet to figure out what I have done to this woman. She clearly remembers me and has the same attitude each time. She is very respectful and even chatty when it comes to other customers of other races, but when it comes to me, she is a ball of silence, rolled eyes, and exhales.

Nice Safeway with standard selection of food, drinks and other things. You can use the Safeway App to see if they have something in stock before you visit, which is nice if youre looking for something specific or simply want to check prices. Friendly staff as well. I would have zero issues shopping here again.

Today June 30th 2024, Cousins and I were unjustifiably kicked out from this specific Safeway they called security on us and were harassing us and pressuring us to leave the store saying it was closing in 5 minutes(we got to the store at 12:12 online search says it closes at 2 AM) so we were trying to speed up and get our goods before but they kept hassling us to leave the store so till we left they kept following us!

Be careful they are pricing gauging and doing a bait and switch. You see a price on the item, same thing will be higher at the check out, if you dont pay attention then you lose it.I got 10 items 3 of them were like this - significantly higher. There was one lady who was sweet and helped.This is one of the reason why inflation is so high, so pay attention to your bills, else prices will go crazy!

As one of the previous reviews mentioned, watch out for the price scam. The labeled price and the checkout price is different (this is after I scanned the membership card). They eventually changed the price manually after I showed them the price label on the shelf, but it was such a hassle to monitor for such mistakes and even more so to correct the price.

This is the best Safeway in Santa Clara Ive been to. Mainly because its low traffic, easy to get in and out and always clean. Open late and friendly service. After school lets out it is packed with kids but they handle the rush just fine. No loud annoying music like other locations and just a calm vibe. Worth the slightly longer drive.

I like the parking lot because I have kids. It is easier to park the car in front of the door of Safeway and grab the kids to do grocery.I usually can’t find parking in front of whole food and Costco’s parking is usually very busy. Rose market has little space to turn around. This Safeway is more pleasant to shop because of the reasonable parking space.

Safeway is a pretty good store for unprepared products but I have decided to avoid the Safeway prepared deli foods. I tried a take home meat lasagna where they obviously cut corners on the ingredients and on the preparation. The lasagna was labeled that its meat was Italian sausage. There were little teeny olive pit sized pieces of hamburger that were spiced with Italian seasoning but there were only about 2 or 3 miniature pieces per serving of lasagna. That is hardly any meat at all. The ricotta looked it was mixed with tomato sauce so it had a pink hue instead of sauce and ricotta being mostly separate. There was hardly any mozzarella cheese and the lasagna did not have enough sauce so it was dry. Bottom line, I felt that it was Safeway managements intention to save money rather than sell a product that they would be happy to serve in their own home. This is the exact opposite of what I expect a store to be. Ironically, they are losing business to Costco and Costco has the philosophy that their products are top-notch. The best I could say about the Safeway product was it was about on par with what you would expect as minimally acceptable homeless shelter food and that is being generous. Dear Safeway management, all you have to do is read the instructions on the lasagna noodle package and youd be much better ahead. I do not trust the Safeway deli to have products that I would like to eat.

There was this creepy staff worker he kept following me to see if I wore my mask properly. I kept ignoring him the best I could because I was way beyond six ft from everyone bc the store was practically empty. Plus I went to self checkout so I was no where near contact with anyone but my 3 kids. I didnt need someone sign languaging me on how I should wear my mask. I wont return here.

I love the sales at Safeway,especially the meats in chicken,pork chops,pork ribs,beef ribeye steaks,pork sausages,daily fresh bake French breads,pastries from their bakery.The deli has great fried chicken,pasta,tamales so delicious and fresh !! Its a fairly small Safeway. Just like any other Safeway, but with a fairly small selection because of the limited space. The location is convenient, but for big shopping trip I go to the Safeway in downtown Los Altos out there one on San Antonio.The aisles here are narrow and crowded with displays. A handicapped friend told me it was nearly impossible to maneuver a motorized wheelchair through the store.

This location is a small store for Safeway located near Mt View / Los Altos border. As such it does not get cleaned out of promo items like larger stores. Very little is competitively priced without promo. So that is what I look for at Safeway.

Nasty cashier lady with a nasty mean look. Before I even was up for her to ring in my groceries she was already giving me the stink eye. So when it was my turn up I her said hi to her and she completely ignored me and trust me she heard me. She said hi to the person before me and the person after me. I have no idea what her problem was with me. She had a look of vile when I said fine dont say hi. By the way I believe her name was kimy. Other then that cashier people are usually nice here. But for some reason I Disgusted her. I was slathered with sunblock and bit sweaty because I had jogged here. I cant help it if I like to exercise. Im definitely never going to whatever register shes at.

Most of the packaged food I’ve gotten has been okay, but I bought apples and strawberries from here. Both looked fine in the store (and from the outside) but as soon as I cut into them at home, they were rotten! The strawberries where white and fuzzy in the middle, the apples pictured here.

My goto grocery store while I was in the area. I found the prepared salads and veggies items interesting during covid era. They were not charging for bags during covid times. Had stock of pretty much anything one can want. Not very crowded compared to other grocery stores in the area ( Im looking at you trader joes ). Much bigger and better layout and I always used to get offers via their safeway app. Whenever I had any issues, the cashiers would remove the items.Pro tip: Bananas are cheaper at whole foods.

Their deli service needs some help! They were slow and inefficient and at the moment I was the only customer there. But then more people started showing up and they appeared to be understaffed and the people working there did not understand the sandwich specials nor, what seemed like anything on that menu. She said I got a salad with my order and she asked me what kind of dressing I wanted I told her ranch and she picked up the ranch and squirted in the sandwich, which I had, had many times at this store, I just wanted my sandwich, I didn’t want her to remake it so I took it that way, it included a water too. My six dollar sandwich was over $10 when I checked out. I paid the fee of course because I had been traveling and at this point, I was hangry, (not their problem) and she forgot to put the salad in the bag. I realize we are all human however, some attention to detail would be great, in a day and age when customer service so lacking. Safeway should take a look at their signs and make sure staff understands what they’re doing.

Look, if youre reading this, you probably already know what a Safeway is. This is a very well-maintained Safeway with everything that you would want, all wrapped up in a shopping center with good parking. The people working at the check-out lines are friendly and helpful, the people working in the deli are good at what they do, and the produce is fresh and well maintained. There is a small Starbucks stand located in this Safeway if you want something to drink while shopping (dont bother going here just for the Starbucks; there is a full Starbucks in the shopping center).

There are never enough cashiers anymore. Especially at lunchtime. There are tons of St.Francis student buying lunch and only maybe 3 registers open. The shelves are not completely stocked anymore. Not enough cashiers on Sunday, when a lot of working moms buy groceries for the week.

I let a worker, Cynthia to turn on her light and responded sayin ok i will. When it was my turn she gave me extreme disrespect and told me that i was disrespectfull. What happened to the customers always right? I work at a safeway and i cant disrespect any customers and yet she disrespected me. I dint appreciate it and it was totally unecessary. I will never be in her line ever again. She also got upset that i called her maam. I dint know her name so i called her maam. At this point shes lucky i dint cause a scene or get extremely mad. Never ordering a cake here again. So yesterday I ordered a cake too be picked up the next day at noon we get there too pick it up the guy at the bakery didn’t speak any English we had too look for someone too translate for us just for him too go look in the back just too come back and say they never made it. Then we ask too speak too a manager she comes and says that it was too pick up on the 3rd no we ordered too pick up on the 2nd this is ridiculous… I wish I can’t give them a star !!!!
