The staff here is lovely. And we are all so sad. You don’t serve coffee anymore. I am sad because you’re blaming it on homeless people don’t be so greedy. Coffee is not that expensive. Everyone is a potential customer. And a lot of people that are on EBT like to drink coffee too. EBT sales are still sales. $$$$$$$ Get with it. Safeway on w Sacramento Avenue. My suggestion is some sensitivity training for the staff so they have less anxiety about people who are in a house in flux. No coffee. Not okay Safeway. Hospitality is key. I was ready to buy coffee and no hot coffee? Yikes! Chevron across the road. Make sure I got some hot coffee. Thank you Chevron maybe you could talk to Safeway.

Thank you to the customer service. My mother comes there regularly and just earlier today Oct 11th, 2023, my mother came to me because she doesnt speak English and said that she gave a 10 dollar bill for a gallon bleach she bought but was rung up as a 5 dollar bill. My mother and I went back to go check but went back to the customer service instead because the cashier was busy and I didnt want to interrupt business. The gentlemen was really understanding and knows that my mom goes to that Safeway and does her shopping and pays her bills there. The gentleman made it right. Thank you for so much. 5 stars.

Its a very big Safeway. And it does have a deli and plants and a pretty good selection. The workers are very nice and helpful. Fruit and produce is very nice. Also they have a really nice floral section and bakery.

Almost all the bagels in the bakery cabinet were dark brown, overdone, burned.Ive worked in food service/kitchen for 10 years and I would have been embarrassed to present that to customers.The cart locked up on me while I was still in the Safeway parking lot trying to load my groceries, I wasnt even on the Walgreens side. That was kinda annoying. Had to drag it out of the way.

I always feel superior when I enter a Safeway store. It is just so well-stocked and well-staffed. A young African-American woman who works at the store on Nord (Hwy 32) observed my agitation at one of the self-checkout stands. It was delivering a message that was very oddly configured. She jumped right in and saved the day. She was so capable and competent. Once in a while they have a deal thats a real value. Savings galore.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Horrible and uneducated employees. Firstly, I wait 15 minutes in line since only 2 workers are working at the time with no sense of urgency or work ethic. Secondly, I am purchasing a bottle of wine and steaks for my girlfriends birthday and she happens to be in line with me without her wallet since I am the one paying for her birthday, and the employee who is supposedly the store manager refuse me service since i am 21+ but my girlfriend who is present doesn’t have her ID present. I then told him and educated him that there is not a California Law or a statute that states that when buying alcohol you must see whoever else is with you ID unless the shop was 21+ older. THIS IS A GROCERY STORE. He then continued to refuse service. I Will never be going here again. Disappointed with uneducated and unexperienced employees at this Safeway location.

I have been shopping at this Safeway for the past 10 years. Some of the employees here might not been the hardest working bunch but were at least kind. On 3/13/2023, as I was checking out at the self check-out line, there was this employee, push me away to let the white man behind me to go first, even that customer knew he came to the line after me. This was quite racist. When I left, he still acted like he did nothing wrong. I have asked other employees about this particular employees name and if the store manager wants to know, I can provide his name.

Well it is a Safeway. It has doors to enter and also, doors to.....um...exit. Also, it surprised me they have grocery items. May seem sketchy at first sight when shopping at night, but the roughs are harmless unless you are in opposition to their gang of homeless. It started off with Tyler working the Delicatessenslammed with customers, while waiting in line I noticed Debbie working at her station and asked if there was any way she could assist Tyler, Right away without hesitation she rushed over and started helping him. The bathroom looked like a homeless person was living in there. I had my cart half full and went to the bathroom for 5 minutes only to find dirty clothes and garbage all over. No toilet paper. Came out to find my cart gone and already restocked. Maybe clean the bathrooms instead of restocking peoples carts that are stuck in a dirty bathroom with no toilet paper. I am done shopping at this location. Homeless have taken over.

This review is coming from someone who spent 26 years in upscale SERVICE industry. YOUR employees need big training in service and customer service. After traveling many times overseas to what we call 3rd world countries Ive realized that the service is MUCH better in those 3rd world countries. Service in America is becoming really bad. Employees looking at you doing nothing. ARENT you getting paid to do a job. then do it. on those 3rd world countries service is much much faster and better. let alone cheaper and tastier food. This is terrible. thanks God Im leaving America after 33 years. It was one big fake COMPANY. thats what America has become. Just names of big corporations who care only about profit and not service or product. FIX your company before it all collapses like many other things collapsing in the good OLE U>S>A> GOOD LUCK.

But anyways, I was going to Safeway to get Chow Mein but they didnt have any, so I got Chicken Strips instead. My God do Safeway Chicken Strips Fill You Up! I am also not the biggest fan of their location as well. The area around W. Sacramento Avenue is dirty.

They always take good care of us. Most or many of the customers are college students, but theres still some senior citizens that live in a senior mobile home park near by and I feel that they try extra hard to accommodate our needs. Our most frequently used market as it is close to home. I would give it 5stars but it is often cold in there for us great grandparents.. Still no complaints. They are great!

A shout out to one of the managers there. His name is Mike R. and he is so super helpful anytime I shop there. He knows where everything is unlike some of the checkers but thats ok. Their security guy on duty plays on his phone instead of keeping an eye out for single female customers like myself going out into parking lot at 1am but other than that the employee I mentioned above and his great personality and helpfulness is why I come to this Safeway. He is great!

Went to put a cup full of pennys in coin star. Macine malfuncted and the manager told me he had no idea what to do. Not his fault. But didnt take my name or anything for when it was fixed or whatever. it was like 10 or 5 bucks or something but still you should grab someones info when a machine your business holds malfunctions like that. A lot of people from here in chico, have been shoppong here for over a decade. Freshest produce (local), the choiciest meats (the deli will also cut/slice your preferred style for the evening), also a delicious delicatessen/bakery and fully stocked shelves (the night crew comes in between 2 and 6 am every morning) throughout the store. There is 4 self-checkout registers, usually a quick, easy, and efficient, operable, and clean! The checker team is solid and dedicated to their positions and super friendly. Except for LP. Moving on and furthermore the store is in my opinion a 9 outta 10. Also, the prices are ridiculously so low after you punch in your Club card number, you usually save half of the original total on your purchases. Thats right.. Way low prices and a great friendly crew in a clean and organized store. Great team and management! But not LP.

This Safeway is super expensive just because of its convenience to college kids. Its really nice inside, the workers are really friendly, and so are the other patrons. There are constantly shady homeless people outside however, and its almost always busy. Its good if you need to just grab a couple things but other than that, there are plenty of other places that cost way less and feel safer going to and from your vehicle.

Friendly, efficient, well managed store. Longer lines in the evenings are more fun than annoying because everyone is so friendly. This Safeway stocks more basics compared to the other two Safeway locations, probably because of the influence of the college students. Nice produce, bakery and meats... they also have self-serve kiosks, which I don’t believe in since it will put clerks out of a job eventually.

By far the rudest nighttime Safeway employees in town. Hard to find anyone to ask for assistance and when I finally did, they didnt seem to know where anything was located. Then I got a blank stare and an attitude when I asked if they could call someone who would be able to help. None of the employees wear their name tags so I guess they think that they can be rude without worry of being reported. Also, none of them were properly wearing a mask in accordance with the current mandate. The checker, who was the one I had originally asked for help, was a young, black girl who decided I somehow deserved to be yelled at and have her roll her eyes at me before literally throwing my items toward the bagging area. I have never felt so unwelcome and actually chose to leave without buying any of my items.

Small Safeway with a less than appealing crowd most of the time. Drunk/high college students are the norm at night with few check stands available. However, the employees add a couple of stars. Never had a bad service experience and I have seen them go out of their way to make a customers day.

Ok. No carts. Cart I got had that wheel locked. Has some great deals and some items I cant find at my Raleys. No bagger. I dont care if I have to bag myself but it felt awkward trying to get bagged up and out while there was a line. The reason I visited the location was to fill a friend who lives nearby fridge and cupboard after falling on hard times. Keep at it. Overall, slightly above average.

Pretty much all new staff barely smile at customers. The shelves are section by section in dry goods and frozen empty of whole selections, others are haphazardly stocked. And prices are higher with college kids. Combine it all and it is worth the trip to drive to another store 😒

Had to make a quick grocery run for a cookout and got in-and-out easily. What wouldve been an uneventful trip turned into a great experience thanks to Ammon, one of the friendliest cashiers Ive ever met. He was about to close his lane when we walked up, but instead kept it open just for us. He was engaging and helpful, and exactly the kind of person you want representing your business.

Pretty much able to find what I need... neatly maintained, great specials and sales. Nice deli area where you can order sandwiches while you shop. A really nice bakery too. Handicapped parking as well as plenty of parking spaces. They also have bathrooms for patrons...

The staff is so friendly, they actually want you to leave with a smile on your face. The employees that have been with Safeway for quite some time, they are the reason I keep coming back. The kids that work there are a new generation, which dont smile😃, dont ask if you need help and simply dont care if you come back or not. They are not good for the company. I like shopping at Safeway because of the GOOD employees.

They have a nice selection of things that I would need for cooking foods, the service is helpful and kind. A lot of students go there often, so the lines can be crazy from time to time, which makes waiting in line a pain. Other than that, its a great place for grocery shopping.

It is close enough to do shopping that is not at convenience store prices but do not feel Safeways prices are always decent! I would prefer Food Maxx for better prices! Staff was polite but felt like they thought I was someone who steels but they have me wrong and no issue at checkout! Nor should or would there be! I will review my receipt because I feel I was possibly over charged perhaps! I will update when I review it!

I like Safeway stores with exception to prices being generally slightly higher than the bigger players in the grocery business. My favorite purpose of shopping Safeway is the managers specials on meats. You have to get there early and really look for them. But well worth the effort.

Prices are a little below all the expensive stores but just a tad higher than your Food Maxx or WinCo. Bet you definitely dont have his hard of a time getting in and out like you do at WinCo. This place is horrible they are rude and the security guy the old dude with the mustache and glasses had told a friend of mine if she were to steal him bottles of whiskey he would turn the cheek to stealing. He paid her more than once gave her a bike that they stole from out in front of the store and then made it to where she was kicked out for good even tho she has money to bring g to the store. Hes lied about it and said she was lying when she wasnt the only one that had this happen to her .

Great Safeway with great staff usually. Today an employee by the name of “chainsaw” was extremely rude to me about my ID. He requested me to show him my ID, I’m 27, then he asked me to take my cap off. After this he decided he still didn’t believe me and asked me my address.Unnecessary and ridiculous. I’m clearly over 21 and even showed my ID. This employee was absurdly rude/aggressive and acted like he was interrogating me (and my friend whose ID he also “had” to check who was/is 32!!) and he didn’t sell me the beer. After I promptly went to stars liquor where I was treated with respect and was immediately sold my beer.Ridiculous!!!

My mom refers to this Safeway as a glorified 7-11. She is not wrong. It serves its purpose, which is a grocery store for the college crowd. I stop in here in a pinch on my way home from work, but their selection is limited and the produce can sometimes be a bit iffy. Guess those college kids havent learned to love their broccoli yet..

😡🤢 I normally shop at the Safeway on Mangrove and have never had an issue. Today I decided to stop at the Safeway on West Sacramento/Nord Avenue Chico, CA and what a HORRIBLE experience. First noted how dirty the store was, floors were disgusting, shelves and canned goods dusty. Made my way to the meat section... Off colored meat, worm in a package of pork chops, pre marinated Carne Asada that was fermenting and package ready to explode. Saw display of the fresh pasta (raviolis, etc) decided I would try that. 6 moldy packages later, right out for anyone that cared could see. I put down my basket and left sick to my stomach. Why the store manager there allows this is beyond me but honestly thinking of calling health department tomorrow. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!!

All of the vegetarian and vegan products are always expired! I just picked up a box of veggie patties that expired in may of this year and their non-refrigerated almond milk expired last year.
