Placed a bakery order for a full white sheet cake for pick up on the afternoon of Friday 3/15. Asked for Congratulations to be written on the cake in light blue frosting, for a celebration later in the day. While the cake itself was good, I do not recommend using this bakery for any custom cake decorating, as even a simple phrase was difficult for them to complete. Ive never had a Safeway bakery decorate a sheet cake this way and Im perplexed as to why they thought this quality was okay to send out the door with the pick up person. (Would any of the bakery or store employees want this for their own celebratory cake?)

I think this store has a serious problem with appropriate storage of fresh products. I bought fresh cut fruits, pasta, or guacamole which were all well before best sell date and were already full of mold. This happened on multiple occasions during last year, so I started to pay attention before I put any product into my cart. I have never had such a problem in my life that I had to check grocery products for mold before buying them. And its not a single occurrence. As other people noticed, the store seems to be understaffed, regularly, there are not shopping carts or baskets available. The only thing I like about it, its conveniently located and has plenty of parking. But after troughing away another fresh product immediately after I bought it, I think I will start doing groceries elsewhere. I attached a picture of a rotten pasta on a shelf in the store. This is unacceptable. Im tired of this.

My only complaint is the same as every other store that I enter... Upon entering the building, I was shadowed by a pair of security guards. One was obviously a security guard. The other one must have thought that no one would notice his walkie talkie and handcuffs. Simply because of my appearance.

They keep their water directly under the heaters that they run all day. So you can either have Luke warm water, or cold refrigerated water.I wouldn’t want my plastic water bottles being constantly heated prior to buying them. That’s disgusting.

The store put their best crews on schedule today to impress. I am so glad I went there to get my last minute supplies. I recently had a horrendous cashier experience here and never wanted to come back; however, Jungs amazing interpersonal skills with customers (and coworkers) and genuine enthusiasm about his job really made a huge makeover to the store. I saw him twice so far and every time he made the entire stores vibe different. Todays short interaction made my week. What are you doing, Safeway? Theres your manager material right there unless he is already one. Employee of the DECADE!

I see an increasing in African Americans employees here. The reason for 3 stars is once I saw one of those employees denied entrance of an old white man with personal issue that occurred between him and the customer. He (the employee) then jumped to me, his coworker and another customer to tell everyone about what the customer told him. I think Safeway needs to work with these employees and tell them when to put themselves up someone basic needs, and when is not, leave alone they have 5-6, and all I could see was harmless (possibly homeless) old man trying to find something (to eat??? But according to the employee, he is here for troublemaking which I didn’t see it because he left immediately after the employee prevented him into the store).You could have ask another employee to escort him quickly to get what he wants, there will be a bunch of college student (or me) ARE willing to pay for his food if you care about whether he can pay for it; if you don’t want to work with him due to your personal conflict because it looks like you doesn’t have experience handling homeless elders. I don’t see any incorporating behavior from the homeless man, but your feelings as you keep telling other customers and your coworkers about your own issues… you even stressed “don’t let this person into the store”. You can’t do this because you don’t own anything here, but telling the customer you let him in this time and you don’t want any trouble and see what happens… mind your business that a lot of homeless people they lost their properties because I couldn’t keep up with the payment, not because of anything else but because they don’t want to keep paying for the dirty neighborhood or anything related to… so while you think you have the right to let somebody in, it’s may be their property or their ancestors’. You don’t know what you never own. There are many ways you can handle this but deny the entrance is not the way you should have done and I don’t think you are allowed to do toward this helpless individual.

Unlike other Safeways that state that they close at midnight, this Safeway apparently closes just before midnight.The other Safeways allow customers in the door right up until midnight.It may not sound like a big deal to many people. However, for those of us who are awake and work at opposite hours from much of the rest of the world, it can mean the difference between having lunch or going hungry.

This is the most depressing Safeway Ive ever been to. Its severely understaffed and the few employees present are not helpful or very kind. I cant blame them because its a brutal environment. A lot of unhoused people come here, its not an uncommon occurrence to see opened containers of food and beverages. I sincerely hope this store gets itself together to make it a more pleasant shopping experience for everyone, not just those buying groceries.

Decent shopping. The Dixon store was out of any pre-made sandwiches Saturday night. Had been my go to store for lunches and dinners when skiing Tahoe.And with GasBuddy it is now easier to find cheaper gas further up on I80, since no longer stopping to shop there.Too bad. It was a nice one-stop.

Visited this Safeway at 1444 Shattuck Pl, Berkeley, CA 94709 today 09/17/2017 at 11:00am. The store layout feels somewhat different than other Safeways which made me feel a little uncomfortable while shopping. But what really surprised me was that at the end of aisle No.2, to the left, there is a section that has household insecticides and other chemicals and right beside that is the bread section. Insecticides are toxic substances.That part of the aisle smells like chemicals and the bread should NOT not be so close. First time I see in a supermarket such unsafe display arrangement. I recommend not to buy that bread.

Store is clean. Fairly well stocked.At night there is one cashier running their cashier, nobody to run the 8 Self Pay stations. Regularly. Tonight, I sat waiting for 5 minutes for an attendant cause the stupid machine glitched on taking my phone number.Finally, walked off, left that one down and finished at another station. Employees are rude, arrogant, and not helpful. A different bad experience every time I go. For example - in general, groceries are expensive here, but there is often some problem with the Safeway app that prevents you from using the deals/coupons, and the employees do not care enough to help you resolve the issue and find a solution. Not a pleasant shopping experience, and unfortunately, raising the issue to customer service does nothing.

I go to the Shattuck Safeway once a week,usually on Tuesday. The store is usually well stocked with items I buy,but there are empty spaces where items are not available. Tuesday is the last day for specials for the week so shelves are often being readied for the specials for the following week.

I really be baffled at how comfortable these Latino dudes be with using the n-word and, even worse, at your job! The closest safeway to the berkeley campus, but that’s about the only merit it has. parking here is pretty limited. the store itself has less stock than most other safeways. the employees are nice enough. doesn’t always feel super safe, especially late at night due to its proximity to downtown berkeley.

Always has freshest bakery items & the Asian lady that works in the deli always makes sure the chicken tenders are freshly cooked, I think she makes several small batches throughout the day to ensure they don’t sit under the heat lamp and harden up/dry out… I absolutely hate buying $10 worth of chicken only to have it feel like a piece of thick cardboard. Never- not even once- have I been disappointed with anything I purchased in the deli or bakery. This is my go-to store for sure.

I went to Safeway on Shattuck for the $5 Friday turkeys they were suppose to have. Needless to say, they didnt have any, I I was told they werent getting any turkeys until the holidays. Was just in the store Sunday 11:30 pm because I figured it was safe. But no there was a man who was apparently a store employee MASKLESS standing in the middle of the aisle in front of the exit to the only open checkout stand and between the only open self serve stations. Maybe the store decided to change their policy, but a health hazard is a health hazard and this gentleman was making a point to be one. There were two ladies at the checkout lane who he was smiling at apparently amused with my discomfort. Ive been a customer of this store for decades, shopping early morning and late night hours during the pandemic to help keep employees safe. But this guy is new. Hes probably the type who thinks its funny to spit in the deli soup and put it back on shelf.

North Berkeley Safeway is one of the coldest places on the face of the planet, and prices have definitely inched up, and the elevator from the lower level parking had seen better days, but its still a nice store. There was an exquisite display of whole cooked octopus surrounded by artfully arranged lobster parts in the fish case. I would never buy any of it, but somebody went to the trouble.

This is a typical grocery store in an upscale to mixed neighborhood. The food is all there, the prices are reasonable. There are a few gourmet selections with baked goods on sale in front, and if I have time I go somewhere else for produce. Rare are the homeless people who beg I the parking lot. Overall it is good.

I love Safeway on Shattuck. They make the most delicious bread and bakery products, the most delicious deli items like tamales and fried chicken, and they have the best produce including organic options. The meat department always has fresh Grade A meat and sometimes has crab cakes for just $1 each. The entire store is always spotlessly clean and well stocked. The management is EXTREMELY good and every employee is very cheerful and upbeat and each one always has a smile and a kind word for you. My only complaint would be the security, who is outsourced. I had an incident with another customer who had a mental health problem and became irate in the checkout line and physically threatened me. I had to leave and call the cops because when I called for security, they turned their back and walked away from the woman. This Safeway is ten stars, but they need to hire a new security company.

Update: Two days before Xmas on a Saturday, Safeway has two cashiers working. Mgmt should be embarrassed.I go to this store more than any other, visiting three or four times per week.It is a smaller store, so selection is limited, but they do manage to get quite a few products in there nonetheless. It has been remodeled, so it also looks nice and the staff keeps it very clean. They are also friendly at this store.The parking lot is small, usually full, and the parking spaces are mostly compact size. I drive a mid-size truck and it is challenging to get in and out of there.I like to get breasts and thighs in the deli section and lately they always have both. The chicken tenders can get a little dry, but lately they have been better it seems.The lines are still a problem here to some extent, but it has gotten better. There are big signs that say they will open registers if there are more than three people in line, but the other day there were about eight people in line and no registers were opened while I was there. However, the front end manager was working a register, so it is probably safe to assume they were doing the best they could.I previously rated this store with three stars, but have recently updated that to four stars because it seems like many of my concerns were addressed. Kudos to the staff at this Safeway store!I will up this review to five stars if the lines can become even faster and shorter, but I know that is a tall order. Anything is possible, so I have hope.

The store is clean and well organized with good selection. Prices arent cheap, but theyre not as expensive as some other stores either. Im a bit disappointed that donut prices have increased 40% since winter, but thats capitalism. My favorite thing about this particular Safeway is the staff. They are very friendly and attentive.

This place is more expensive than most other supermarkets and they cant even afford signs on the doors that are closed to tell you which entrance is open. Even sadder, the person at the self checkout is completely uninterested in helping people move through quickly, so the lines build up unnecessarily as the machines balk at even a medium-weight canvas bag. I only go here if I need to grab a couple of things quickly - if I need a real shopping trip I avoid this place.

Organic, organic, organic! I love organic produce - so fresh and tasty. Additionally, I enjoy all the high-quality organic options throughout the store. We also enjoy purchasing balloons and flowers for special occasions. A 3 min drive from my home in the Berkeley hills, this Safeway is a family favorite! The store is clearly understaffed and as a result they usually only have 1-2 cashiers outside of the self-checkout lanes. Given that only about half of the self-checkouts are working at any given time, this means that you almost always have to wait. Aside from that, the store is clean and well-stocked.

This was one of my favorite stores. Now the staff is quite rude at front. Yong workers in the front area seem to be more into socializing than helping customers. The gentleman in the liquor department seems knowledgeable and able to help me only highlight of the trip. They have a Starbucks in this location there was a young lady who worked there was excellent and the people who replaced her are really good as well . The rest of the store is shenanigans.

This is a very nice Safeway. Friendly employees, always plenty of people working. Lots of produce, meat, deli, bakery. and grab n go items. The supply of health and beauty items, and ethnic food, is a but less than you mighr expect, but there are plenty of nearby places to pick those things up. With the club discounts, prices are not out of line -- still high, and very high on a few items, but given what and where it is, there shouldnt be sticker shock.

I see bad reviews about this Safeway, but I like it. And their pharmacy is the best in North Berkeley for sure. I got a flu shot there today and got a coupon for 10% off my shopping! With the sale items I bought today, I saved almost $50! Employees are always nice and willing to help, I always find what I need, and the self-checkout is working great these days. Although the produce man that helped me was extremely polite, the cleanliness in this store was insanely off. Disgusting floors, counters near food areas were dirty, and unfortunately I had the experience of using their restroom which was enough for me to decide Id never enter the store again. Their was urine on the changing table as well as the floor and toilet seat. Walls and floors were filthy. Workers that handle and prepare our food have to use this also....no thanks. I put my items back and exited the store!

Reasonably well stocked Safeway. The store is a little smaller than a typical Safeway, which means the selection is a little smaller too. But overall, this is a good store and stays open way past the competition. Plus the staff are very helpful.The vegetables tend to run out around 9pm so make sure to come in earlier.

I have never shopped at this Safeway, my review is based only on the Starbucks inside of this establishment. I used to work at a Starbucks, so Im pretty familiar with the drinks and how long it should take to make things. My grandmother and I ordered two drinks, it took about 13 minutes to get them. There were 2 people working at the time and they were chatting super loudly and working extremely slow. It was pretty unproffesional. I got a holiday spice Flat White. The spice was poured from the bag straight into the cup rather than using the measured spoons. My Flat White was 60% foam, which is way off. I understand Starbucks can get super busy and mistakes can happen, but there was no one else ordering at all the whole time I was there. As a result, I was almost late for work. Hopefully the workers will go through more training in order to set them up for success next time! :)

Decent Safeway I go to most often since its just down the hill from my house. The deli is really good and they have plenty of staff there. Excellent cheese and bread options, too. Lines can get a bit long but that just seems to be Safeways curse no matter what location youre at.

100% remodeled in 2013 this is now a nice Safeway grocery store. Its still a little on the small side so parking can be tough, and selection can be a little limited, but overall its a great place to shop. My only complaint is the fresh meat/seafood department has very limited hours and is very VERY grouchy about helping you if they are not open even if the cases are full and the staff is available.

I grew up with a friends who had their own Mom and Pop stores. Knew the owners by their first names. I was worried when I arrived to Berkeley that I would never find such a place, but was happily surprised to find one just down the street from where I live.I have received the best service at this store. Community is important to me and the whole staff there have made me feel right at home. All have made me feel that I am important. I was not a surprise how they try to do the same for each customer as best as possible in a big city. I am very outgoing so appreciate people who go out of their way to make my shopping experience special. Like the song from the old show...CHEERS - Nice to go where everyone knows your name! The service and quality of products represent this attitude that each shopper is significant and worth the time to go ALL out to make their experience a great one.I actually make sure to do my best to say Hi to as many as I go through the store since that is the best way to show appreciation is to take the time to greet them by name; Thank GOd for Name tags...I am horrible with names, but find they most definitely do not have this problem. Im taking a star for the occasional indifference of the staff....except the butchers...theyve given good advice on more than one occasion. This Safeway does not have a very intuitive lay out as it is hard to find things. Furthermore, it seems to be very popular, so popular in face that some items are not restocked on the shelves adequately. The good:The actual store is clean, there is good selection, and the produce is usually fairly fresh.The Bad:Self Checkout - wow, where do I begin... Ive tried going through the self checkout a number of times, and literally ONCE, did I not have to get assistance because the thing froze or kept thinking there was a random item in the bagging area or some other thing was wrong. Not only that, but the person there who is supposed to assist with the self checkout is without fail chatting it up with one of the other staff while I and three other people wait for them to come over and fix the machine. Its gotten to the point where Id rather wait in the 15-minute line for the regular checkout because I hate the self checkout here so much.Regular checkout - a slightly better experience, mainly because I can spend the 15-minutes waiting on my phone reading something to take my mind off of the fact that this place is almost always understaffed. There are like 10 registers and they usually have two people working them. I dont understand why they dont bring in more cashiers even when the lines extend far into the grocery isles. You can even tell that the employees are irritated, Ive never seen them in a good mood (and its entirely understandable), but sometimes they are downright rude about it too. Okay person working the register, if youre angry, i get it, but dont take your anger out on me, im just as unhappy because Ive had to wait 15 minutes just to get to you in the first place, I dont need attitude on top of that.Anywho, its gotten to the point where the first thing I think about when planning on going to this safeway is how crappy my experience is going to be... I literally go to Trader Joes now for everything unless its something that they just dont carry. Safeway management, if you are reading this, please get more staff for this location Maybe even hire an undercover shopper to go there around 8pm, I guarantee they will witness all of the above.

Overall, fine. But this last time I was here, I noticed there were almost no employees,. Then I saw a group of about seven young men, perhaps junior high school age, picking chicken out of the hot fried chicken, then walking around the store as they ate it. Then they came back for more. I will say: they were using tongs, not reaching directly into the food. I told the deli worker. She said that they knew. She said they do it every single day after school. She said they didnt have enough staff to do anything about it. They had told the principal of the school, but nothing had come of it. I wish there had been a staff person available to exercise some firm, loving guidance to the effect that this is not a way society can continue, and that if they dont pay, everyone else pays extra. Its a weird thing for me to expect of a store, but the fact that the store workers are so few actually makes for a Mad Max kind of environment, a failure of community. I feel bad for everyone concerned, including the few staff, including the customers, including these young men who needed guidance and correction. (I wanted to say something to them, but I couldnt think of a socially appropriate way to intervene. I was out of my depth, I admit.) Regarding another comment someone made, the cashier was rude to me also, and I am not a person of color. To me it seems like a lack of care for their workers on the part of management makes it difficult to attract and retain quality staff. This place makes me feel sad. Still, I dont want to overblow my emotions. It was ok for groceries and price.

The pharmacist here today refused to give me my booster shot after a long awaited appointment. Even though I was the only person in line at the pharmacy, I was told to kick rocks and die of Covid because they were short staffed. Although i have almost always had a positive experience here.... Today when my fiance tried to cash in his winning Ca lottery ticket scratcher they claimed they dont do that..... They advertise in MULTIPLE PLACES that theyre OFFICIAL lottery retailers and as such are contractually obligated to cash any scratcher ticket that isnt fake or already paid out.Additionally i waited for over 15minutes before any employee even noticed me. However they allowed me to cash my winning 50$ ticket without hesitation. So this is confusing.... Because my fiancees ticket was a 30$ winner yet they downright absolutely refused to cash it for him...Be aware the young woman with excellent customer service skills will cash your ticket. Safeway at 1444 Shattuck Pl, Berkeley, CA 94709 has a Starbucks, pharmacy, bakery, deli (hot & cold plus gourmet cheese, sushi, sandwiches), meat counter, florist, liquor section as well as the regular depts like produce, meat, frozen foods, etc... Parking is underground (closes early) as well as on the same level as the store with handicap parking near the front entrance. Regarding Covid, masks are required and they usually have someone dedicated to spray down and sanitize the shopping carts after each use and additional wipes are available near the entrance if you want to sanitize yourself. In the bakery section, all baked goods are in their own clear cellophane bag or container. Make sure you download the Safeway app for weekly specials and often there are Just4U(J4U) discounts through the app plus they usually have FRI $5 specials plus your purchases accumulate toward reward pts in the APP. Heres an example of how you can leverage all the discounts. This week their 16 oz large container of organic salad (reg $5) is on sale for $4.28. But in this week there is also a $1 discount for produce and another $1 discount for organic. That reduces the price to $2.28 ($4.28 $1 produce discount $1 organic discount = $2.28). This week there is also a 10% discount if you get a flu shot and $5 off for groceries $50 or more. Sometimes you can even get a FREE item through your app. A few weeks ago Safeway launched their Signature Cafe Firecracker chicken sandwich and for one week, it was FREE. Ive even gotten a free tub of ice cream, butter, yogurt and various sodas & drinks so always search for FREE items and $1 OFF on your app. Recently Safeway started a pop up FLASH sale section and you need the app to receive notification since its not in the weekly ad and shows up in the middle of the week. Lady comes out, I tell her that I would like to send some money via Western Union. She tells me to come back in 1hr and 15 minutes as she is in lunch.I ask her is there anyone else that can assist me while she is on her lunch. She just says no and closes the door.Totally unacceptable Safeway. How can you have a store of this size and close the customer service counter for 1hr and 15mins just because of ONE person going to lunch.The issue is not that the lady doesnt deserve her lunch, the issue is youre telling me you cant get another competent person to cover while she is at lunch?Maybe a closed sign for lunch would also work, not to mention better customer service would do wonders.I will not be coming to this Safeway unless service is improved. Since the remodel two years ago I have been impressed with the way Safeway is competitive in the grocery industry. The store seems bigger. The deli,bakery and the Starbucks are conveniently separate from the rest of the store. The produce is fair and offers a decent organic section. The meat and seafood counters at the Rose street store need a bit of reorganization. The seafood department has been displaying too much product at any given time. Flash frozen seafood is best kept frozen until shortly before cooking. Dont be fooled, most seafood arrives frozen and is thawed for display. The other day I bought a lobster tail that did not meet my standards. They were nice enough to replace it. So consider buying frozen, as it takes just a few minutes to thaw seafood. Try to buy fish that has been well iced and if it does not smell right,pass on it. I have also noticed that the discount aged meat seems often to be seasoned or marinated. This can be a way to hide discoloration. Beef ages well, lamb does not. Aged beef has a more pronounced flavor if it is at the right age. Watch this store carefully, as they have been having turnover in the butcher department. They have also not been offering some items recently. Foster farms chicken have not been available at Rose street lately. The butcher at Albany is usually better than Rose street.i am very particular about meat and seafood, having been a cook,a restaurant manager and a Comercial fisherman.

This is a lovely Safeway. They have a ton of options in terms of foods that are portioned in individual servings. You can build some lunches that are just terrific. Its cheaper than eating out, but plussed up compared to just making the ol PB&J or bologna sandwich.

I really hate this particular safeway - the management here fails on several levels. First, they are often out of some random item that is totally unfathomable how they could be out of - how do you run out of frozen peas? Second, the store is always understaffed. The checkout lines are constantly long, and there is usually only one or two lanes open. The self checkout stands are broken way more often than anywhere else and the poor guy trying to handle everything there is just overwhelmed by things going wrong. The place is conveniently located and cheaper than the other options nearby so I keep ending up here, but every single time I am frustrated by something new. There was one time I accidentally spilled something and I had to talk to three different workers before they would actually acknowledge it, the first two just asked me to go tell someone else. This safeway just really needs some help.

The store is not user friendly. To find the beverage (or cracker or pasta or canned goods) you want you have to search the entire store. Your item might be in the beverage/cracker/pasta/canned aisle. Or it might be in health food. Or ethnic food. Or near the produce section. Or in the displays at the end of aisles. Or near the wine section if its a cracker that (for whatever reason) the store has decided goes well with beer. Or near the cheese. Very frustrating. The prices are average. The music and announcements are annoying

Their pharmacists are THE BEST! They somehow remember everyones names and connect with you like an old friend. They bring me my prescription as soon as they see my face!Also, I love sitting in the Starbucks cafe in the corner to get work done on the free WiFi (and I can pick up snacks from Safeway throughout the work day).

The worst customer service the lines were longer than the line at the cheese board (if you are a Berkeley resident or visit there often you know how long those lines are) the store was just filthy from the bathrooms not having any supplies you there being black marks all over the floors. My son later went to grab some candy and later when we checked the expiration date it was expired and chunky when it wasnt supposed to be. I walked up to a woman named Alicia at the end of self checkout if she could open another line and she gave me the most rudest look you could give anyone and replied this is the best we can do right now with and attitude and didnt even apologize for the problem when I finally got to the front of the line I got assisted by a young man name kamilo and he seemed that he wasnt all the way there singing rap songs as he was ringing me up and just as I thought it couldnt get any worse he picked up his cell phone and had a full conversation while ringing me up NO WONDER WHY THE LINES WERE SO LONG when we discovered that the candy was expired we came back to customer service to return it and it took 45 minutes ! I kid you not for someone to come assist us with an attitude frank I believe was his name he clearly had no knowledge as to what he was doing and took another 20 mins to fix the problem THIS STORE WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN EVER BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RUDE MANGERS !!!!!

The homeless loitering outside the store on the tables are a big problem. A woman threatened my niece to take the cake she just bought and with verbal threats. My niece was shaken up and distraught for the rest of the day. It was on christmas. They need to keep people from loitering at those tables.

Nope. This Safeway is consistently crowded and Ive never seen more than three checkout lanes open at a time (its typically two, even on busy evenings). Expect to wait at least 10 minutes in line any time you come here. Self-checkout isnt any better - sometimes the line actually goes down the aisle to the back of the store. Their organic produce selection is a joke, especially considering the location (Its North Berkeley, people! Get with the times!). Also the storefront on Shattuck is a congregation area for down-on-their-luck folks, who frequently leave garbage and personal items on the tables. Icing on the cake: on multiple occasions Ive observed off-duty staff members having blowout arguments with someone in the parking lot. Just dont go here expecting a nice grocery store with friendly service and you wont be disappointed.

We went today me & my bf to this location lady seemed to have a problem as soon as we got in line. She seemed upset. But anyways my boyfriend has a different type of ID. She was getting upset over the fact that she couldnt see where his age was & she asked him if she had apassport with him. It was just the way she said it. Another thing she did was tell some of the cash register women the problem she had that didnt sit well with me. It seemed like it was this huge problem that she could not find the age. It was bot that hard. I dont feel welcome at that store & not coming back ever!

Worst experience ever!! They are selling expired juice. My girl friend and I visited here today and bought two juices. After we opened and we tasted something weird and I found it was EXPIRED A MONTH AGO!! Not 1 or 2 days. A MONTH!! Can you believe this? The worst part is we went back and complaint to one of the staffs there and She told us that we should check expiration date everytime we go to grocery. SERIOUSLY? Poor Customer ServiceThe person making the sushi in that store is very rude and does not have any customer service skills, I grabbed a box of salmon roles today for lunch while i was shopping and after a couple of minutes decided to switch it with tuna. I went back to the sushi counter and as i grabbed the box from my cart he approached me from behind the counter and asked if i dont want it any more. I told him i wanted to switch it with something else. He snatched it from my hands and said it get hot angrily. He went behind the counter, opened a fridge, put the box in it and slammed the fridge door. He proceeded to give me nasty looks as I made my choice and left.If your cooks dont understand what customer service is about keep them in the back away from your customers!I love how fresh and appetizing everything is, but this type of service ruins the experience of shopping there.

At Safeway, you can sometimes buy alcohol with a French ID/Driving license, sometimes they dont know how to read a date of birth on a foreign ID, which is really annoying when you can enter bars and clubs and use it everywhere else except in Safeway. Really unpleasant cashier.
