This Safeway is in a very clean strip mall- BUT, I saw 2 obvious drug deals happening, a young man smoking a crack pipe looking super jacked up, and several creepy looking people in the parking lot. I was going to get some groceries, and didn’t feel safe. As I was driving out, I saw filthy words spray painted on the side of the Safeway building. It’s sad. I feel bad for the people that work there.

Safeway always has great deals. You can clip coupons right from your mobile app as you shop. The produce is always fresh, and the fruit is always sweet. My total was $38. After the coupons, it went down to $25. Great savings!!

I just came from the deli and I must say the lady that was helping and decided to clock out in the middle of my order should not be working in that department or anywhere for that matter. She told me she has been there for 8 months and she is a vegan so she dont know the difference of meats nor how to make a sandwich or where the mayo was (which was right infront of her) after she tried to make another employee working on something else to go and get it for her, she was not professional nor did she seem like she liked her job being employed there. Thank God a nice young man took over for her but all 3 sandwiches I ordered were not good he did do his best I must say it was not his fault as he was working a whole other section b4 stopping I should have left but I didnt 37$ for 3 nasty sandwiches. This store has change in the years I understand good help is hard to find but that lady tucked her job and being a person.

I have grown up in this area since the summer before third grade. Over the years many things & businesses, of course, have changed. I have never personally experienced bad customer service or had any negative experience at this Safeway. I had to mention the above and beyond customer service from one of the checkers at this Safeway. Her name KP, not only is she friendly and professional, she also taught me how to use my ATM visa/ debit card as visa. She took a minute to show me 2 other ways to use my card. So easy, could t believe how easy. I just yesterday ask a checker at Walmart how to do same payment, he said can you read the screen and what does it say? Condescending at the least. What a 180 here. Thank you KP and hope management recognizes her work ethic!

Yesterday, was my daughters 7th birthday. I stopped by Safeway to grab her a little cake before picking her up from school. When I got to the bakery, there was no workers there. I waited a few minutes, but still no one came. Usually other stores, there would be a service ring bell, but I didnt see one at this store. So, I walked over to the Hot Food and Deli station because there were some store workers over there. I asked one of the workers if someone could help me with bakery service and she kindly said that shell call for someone. So I walked back to the bakery station and waited patiently again, but nobody came to help me. After waiting a few more minutes again, I walked back the Hot Food and Deli station to ask for help again. As I was walking over, there were two women worker chatting near by. I informed them that I had already asked for bakery service, but no one had come yet. One of the workers told me that shell call for someone. I heard it called over the intercom again for the second time and as I waited patiently again, and heard it called again for the third time over the intercom and still nobody came. I was there from 2:08 PM to 2:21 PM, and nobody couldnt just help box me a cake for my daughters birthday. While I was waiting the whole time, and every time I looked around, there were workers near by, but no one couldnt help me. I dont understand why one of the coworkers couldnt just go over to bakery and help box up a cake for me. Hot Food and Deli werent even busy when I was there. I usually like buy my birthday cakes from Safeway, but with the kind of customer serviceI experienced yesterday. I am very disappointed. I waited patiently and was giving the store a chance to help me, but they failed over and over.I wont be returning to this store anymore for my cakes service. I just gave up after repeatly asking for help. I wasted 12 minutes of my time and this was unprofessional customer service. I never had to wait this long for a cake or had to ask so many times for help. My daughter was getting off of school soon, so I had to leave. I ended up having to drive somewhere else to get my daughter a birthday cake from Raleys in Antelope. This is something store management needs to improve on with their coworkers. My experience is ZERO star, but unfortunately I wont be able to post my experience without giving any 🌟.

Went to the deli to get the $3.49 sandwich chips and a drink special.. 3 sandwiches, 3 drinks,3bags of chips $44.49 so much for the special.. I guess it was special for them.. got our money.. be careful and ask what the special really costs.. food was good, price was NOT!!

Popular place at night when I arrive. Anytime past 10pm ( I go everyn8ght afterwork) there is usually a line. Self checkout is close by the time I arrive. Friendly staff, clean, and I do appreciate the App and special because I am me prices, alas, I still feel a little used after total cost ....

I dont know whats going on with Safeway lately. Ive been purchasing from the bakery and the flower shop for many years now and this year I have been getting terrible service. Lilia at this location was very rude and not customer oriented. I dont think she should be at that location with customers. I had a simple question and she gave me attitude. If this is the case, I will not return to these locations

Called ahead of time and asked them if they could fill up 2 balloons with helium, they said yes. We drove 30 mins only to be turned away because they didn’t have any helium. The lady at the florist desk was kind of rude and said “well I don’t know who told you that but we can’t fill up your balloons.” Very disappointing.

The quality control is abysmal. Bought some chicken got home and found out that it had a rotten smell, other instances were from bakery where their cakes and bread had mold in them. Also found expired items are still on the shelves, not cleaned out.

I go to Safeway to get their jalapeno bagels/bread. Made fresh in store. Its really good. They also have a good stock of Hot Wheels to pick through also for the collector kid or adult. Nice place to shop.

This review is for an amazing Employee named ANDRE!!!! I went Grocery shopping there today with my kiddos. I drove back home in during rush hour (which is like a 30+ minute drive) and then realized after putting my groceries away and settling down that I left my phone in that little pocket in the cart outside in one of the cart holders. I had to drive all the way back thinking there is no way that my phone hasnt been stolen. Thankfully a good person and employee happened to find my phone (probably going on a cart run and magically by chance at the perfect timing) and put it away for safety waiting for me to come back and pick it up! I couldnt be more grateful and this might be silly me making aReview about this but come one now....who has a landline anymore..(Me...the fool that I am lol) My phone has EVERYTHING on it and I couldnt be more thankful for this employee.Thank you ANDRE again for making my day!!!! Roses werent as pretty as expected but are still nice. Love the night crew. They are always willing to help while they multi-task watching the front door, safeguarding valid customers, dealing fairly, humanely & civilly with those who choose to exercise their false sense of entitlement by shoplifting without even the thought of applying for work, or at the least offering to volunteer to sweep the floor or grab the carts as a way of repayment for the items.But the crew doesnt just see the crime, they see the people & understand the issues... & view it all with compassion.Thanks for what you all do!

Average Safeway. Really nothing special or damaging about this grocery store. Get in, get out, do what you need, go home. The store is relatively clean, and Kenny the cashier was helpful and nice. There did seem to be a number of homeless people mingling outside of the store, and there is quite a bit of trash in the parking lot, however I know this isnt really in the control of this Safeway haha. Thats about it. This store will have what you need, and its pretty average.

The fruits and vegetables were so disappointing. They were way past there fresh date the whole produce section need it to be tossed out and restocked.I couldnt find ANY fruits or veggies that werent bad. The manager here should certainly be fired or at minimum retrained because the store and its rude employees are not up to Safeways set standard. I wouldnt shop here you will get the wrong impression of Safeway and may never return.

The prices here are just wild. A single can of stagg Silverado chili is double what it costs at Winco. Frozen vegetables (steam fresh) cost twice what you pay at Target nearby (verified tonight). Boars head freshly cut lunch meat? $17.Let’s move onto fruits and veggies….many items are just rotten. I saw fruit flies on the Bosc pears, nearly all of the bananas were ripe, and that alone made me question getting anything else in that section.Ice Cream - it looks like 400 people did a smash and grab? There was just about nothing left - it was barren.I’ll take pictures next time but man. I’ve been living here since 2017 and this Safeway has consistently been the odd one out in this area. It’s the closest one to me but it’s just so damn expensive for what it is isn’t. I always find myself going to sprouts, Trader Joe’s, and Winco. And I’m guessing there are security issues - there is literally one door in and one double door out.

Andrew in the Deli did a great job with our many sandwiches. He took his time to make sure each sandwich was made perfectly. The woman with the red braids, however, belittled him in front of customers which was uncalled for, unappreciated and rude.

This manager is so scared of homeless people stealing they took away the baskets and there were zero carts. It was 1:30pm and it’s not even busy. I think you need to fight other customers for a cart here. The manager here is obviously incompetent. This place is dirty and you might be randomly attacked outside. Go to win co.

Probably the worst Safeway Ive been in. Lines are always ridiculously long, with only 2 cashiers at a time, forcing you to do self checkout. Some of the newer cashiers are rude. No hello and no thank you. Its dark and dingy. Constantly people shop lifting and then the cashiers sit around gossiping about it while you sit waiting for them to check you out. They let transients sit outside the front door begging for money. Definitely needs to be remodeled or something. New management that trains their employees how customer service works.

Narrow aisles and high prices. Three different tiers of prices is very confusing. Regular price wasnt even posted on one item, and I had to find an employee. Some items were in 2-3 different places. Some sizes listed on the add werent on the shelves. There are some good deals if you want to take the time to figure them out.

My ex wife has worked for Safeway for 15 years, at several locations including this one. Employees are above and beyond helpful and courteous. The store is always clean and organized. Nothing out of place. Rarely see empty shelves. Prices are high, even with club card, but thats the price you pay if you want great service and clean stores.

My rating is a 4 1/2. Ive been here 19 yrs. Some of the comments on store layout and cashier lines are due to the fact that the store is landlocked and has not been able to expand even when connected store fronts were empty. Its incredible that they were able to add a bakery, deli, starbucks, and floral. It hasnt been able to expand and unfortunately it makes the aisles cramped, fewer selections of most dry items, and sometimes unusual product placement. Overall the cashiers are great. Some of the younger ones do talk to each other when its very busy. And at 9pm the night before NY Eve, I heard a young female telling a personal story to another employee for over 10 minutes. She was dropping the f-bomb and was not quiet. She was 10 ft from the enter door. Otherwise Ive found the store to be good and conveniently located. Too bad they cant expand. Over Xmas-newYear often the parking lot was full. But the store wasnt crowded at all while shopping because EVERYONE was waiting in lines.

I ordered a cake for pick up on the 29th. I am very displeased with the cake. All they did was spray the color on the cake not mix the color with frosting and put on the cake. They are always stocked and you can always get what your looking for the store is easy to navigate the deli is always fresh, the butcher always has a fresh selection of seafood that changes frequently to keep diverse options and they have great meat selections as well the beef is always top quality meat. The produce area is always fresh and well taken care of they always make sure the produce is fresh and they make sure that no expired items are left on the shelves in the produce area. They have a wonderful floral section as well their florist are very knowledgeable and keep the selections fresh and they will help make beautiful bouquets if you ask. The cashiers will make you check out process easy and memorable that alone will make you feel comfortable and they help with the free membership program and gas program both are highly recommended to save money on your groceries and gas!!

I frequent this Safeway as I live nearby, and have been here quite a few times over the years. It’s always super clean, stocked, and the layout is easy to navigate. I was doing some Thanksgiving shopping the weekend before the big day, and as I was checking out I witnessed a man allegedly walking out of the store without paying for his cereal. The worker observing asked if he was going to pay for it and he responded that he did, to which the worker disagreed with verbally. It was kind of your typical shoplifting situation, when all of a sudden another worker, Mariah, blurts out, “California… where even poor people are entitled.” She had a pretty rushed attitude, which I can completely understand as it’s the holiday season. She followed by saying, “People think they’re entitled to things because it’s the holiday season.” Do I condone shoplifting? Absolutely not. But she neither witnessed him shoplift, nor knows what his financial status is. It was judgemental and pretty harsh. Take a chill pill, Mariah. It wasn’t needed. I would like to point out she saved me from being charged twice, but she could probably learn to speak to her coworkers a bit nicer. Definitely a hard worker, just a little too much attitude where it’s not needed.

Clean though a bit cluttered at the entry, deli service is 5 star - the bakery I have not placed a special order so I am unable to comment on that part of their service, though when I asked for a specific product location they were very short and not eager to assist - The store itself is a bit smaller, though I usually shop at the greenback location, which meant some products were not available. Cashiers have all been friendly and quick to ensure I received all that weeks specials. I will add that the entry to the store itself is a bit hard to maneuver through

I worked at this location for about a year and experienced and seen an atrociously incompetent management team(The store director and assistant manager) they claim to be genuine but after some time you begin to notice their interactions are purely artificial with outbursts comparable to children’s tantrums. I’ve seen and experienced countless acts of discrimination amongst coworkers as well as customers as well as being asked to racially profile customers my self directly by management. I’ve witnessed my pregnant coworker get yelled at and break down into tears simply because she was pregnant!!! As I mentioned before I worked there for about a year never called sick even after the passing of friends and family, and always stayed extra to help. I was fired during the peak of corona along with several who’ve been there for many years coworkers and was never given a reason as to why. And many other people have been fired because of management incompetence and the Safeway or the union has yet to take any action against management. I’ve even spoken to the regional director Helen Kresich and within a month I was terminated. Every time one of our employees goes to the union they tell us the same thing...”there is nothing we can do” but they sure are quick to collect their dues. The incompetence of the management is one thing but toxic work environment and the pestering of employees of color by asking questions like, “did you pay for the items items were walking out with” with the receipt in hand or “what was it like to grow up without a father” to an African American employee from a 2 person house hold. This discrimination was common amongst the staff and managers but was never addressed by management or any proper Safeway officials simply swept under the rug and continuing to this day. I hope they change their policies soon because I remember how me and many coworkers felt starting out in such a strange and toxic work environment. If you ever want proof let them show you the amount of colored (specifically black) employees who are fired or quit because of discrimination compared to white employees. The prices are cool tho.

The meat dept in the back makes the best sandwiches and the people there are so nice but the ones up front are shady. Be sure to check your expire dates cause they sell out dated milk . I told them it was so they pulled it but an hr later it was for sale again. Once open it would spoil quickly. I now only go there for sandwiches

Hi all. I couldnt buy alcohol in this store, only because my drivers license was temporary. Unfortunately, this is how the DMV works. But I am 43 years old and I have the right to buy alcohol. I was refused. Be careful, and know that there you will not buy alcohol with a temporary license.

The employees are friendly and helpful which isnt common in the grocery industry these days but I find the selection at this store to be disappointing. there are many things that even the bag your own box stores will carry that this store doesnt. Also they just dont stock enough items on the shelf. If the store is small then they need to have a journeyman on the floor restocking things throughout the day, the night crew only doesnt cut it. Maybe since they are saving 3 checkers salaries buy having one person monitoring the self checkout they could invest some of that money into more employees to keep the store stocked with items? I know thats crazy talk right? An example I can site from just this evening when I went there to buy some root beer, there was absolutely zero root beer on the self I had to dig around in the 2 liter section and I found one random 2 liter of Mug hidden in the back behind some other soda.Its ridiculous mainly because it happens a lot and I always ask myself why I even chose to come here if I also have to go to another store to complete my shopping??? I also find the prices to be atrociously high for what is on the shelf. almost 8$ for a 12 pack of soda that costs 4$ at Food Maxx down the street. I only go to this Safeway store if Im in a pinch since its closer to me than any other market but unless its an emergency I shop elsewhere where my money goes a little further.Nice employees with good customer service but unfortunately Corporate is clearly ruining the rest.

I want to love Safeway. But a couple of times, when I had a bad experience, and talked to someone about it they didnt make things right. Example; I had my brother in law pick up the big box of eggs for a huge family breakfast. Everything is almost done and its time to start frying eggs. I be darned if every single egg didnt break as I cracked them into pan. What am I gonna do jump in car and have everything go cold and gross. When I told person in charge he kinda looked at me like I was just trying to scam him. He was polite but quiet and said he would speak with vendor about rotation. Its kinda why I dont shop there anymore.

Never had a employee ever not known were product placement was .its a great place to get your food and groceries from. Ive had one too many times where I ask if they have something in stock or if they know where x is only to be met with a sigh.Last is the quality of food. This is where I am most upset. The foods such as vegetables, fruits, ESPECIALLY the pastry department are not Safeway quality and even downright disgusting. I wanted to get a box of donuts for my office in the morning and as soon as I walked by there, there were a bunch of flies in the case! Even till this day, I go by it and check it. There are STILL flies all over the donuts. Its absolutely disgusting. Dont believe it, on your way home from work, check it out. It will make sure you never go near the pastry/bread section again. Ive also found a few fruit flies in and on the pineapples - so, now I just stay away from the store.I went in tonight to grab some fish. And just what I expected, flies in the donuts case and I had to stand around waiting to get some fish. This place seriously needs a clean-up. That is the last time I will step foot in this Safeway. I am a loyal customer to this store for 15 years. I was so disappointed in the treatment I have received this morning by one of the cashier ladies. She was so rude and she embarrassed me in front of other customers. When she charged me for a dinner roll from the bakery a dollar I shared with her that they were 3 for a dollar and she gave me a very ugly stare, and stated that they were not on sale. Safeway has excellent produce, much more fresh than Walmart with items you wont find there. They dont have everything I want, but there are usually good alternatives. One item I really like is organic wheat grass for my cats at about half the price of Petco. Its not a supercenter so dont expect to find all your household goods, but they do have nice bakery and deli sections and a meat/seafood counter. They also sell fresh flowers and will make custom arrangements. The prices are a little higher than discount stores but you get what you pay for.

If you ask them to open more they always tell you they dont have any other available staff-AND they have a huge sign hanging over the registers saying 3 is a crowd and how they will open additional registers-total bs. Pretty nice Safeway. It can often get pretty busy on the weekends when there are a lot of people in town locals always suggest going earlier in the morning or a little later at night. The staff is super nice, and do a good job at keeping the store looking good. There is a Starbucks inside there is also a Redbox to rent movies. There is a pharmacy in the back they have a good selection of beer and wine. They stock good local bread from Truckee sourdough. They have a good selection of organic foods. They have a pretty nice selection of organic fruit and veggies.They have self checkout lines but make sure you dont try and buy alcohol in those lines there is a law that forbids that in California. Most of their employees dont show common courtesy. There is no acknowledgement of you when you get to the cash register, theyre usually talking to the bagger or other cashiers, and they just start scanning your items without any acknowledgement. Last night I went to pick up some stuff for the weekend and they had a customer trying to get through to the bakery for a good 20 minutes, finally a rather annoyed manager got on the intercom bakery will you get your call already. Avoid this Safeway at all costs, you will receive terrible customer service in every department of the store, especially the deli. The gentleman making my sandwich brought over a mop and bucket and left it right near the food and grabbed my bread with his bare hands. I asked him to please put gloves on at least and was given a major attitude from him. My panini was thrown together, barely toasted, and he even used the wrong sauce on it. I waited 15 minutes to speak to the manager about this, as this was my SECOND trip of the evening as the prior sandwich maker placed his HAIR in my sandwich. Nope. just went to the deli with my husband. it looked like they were restocking ingredients. they took my husbands order for a sandwich, never acknowledged me. angelo slowly made the sandwich while the female played with ingredients then walked over to the meat counter & helped another customer after id been there several minutes. i walked out. my husband got his order (FINALLY!) & i after he complained to the manager, they gave him $1.58 off his order. YAY! HE CAN RETIRE NOW!you think i will ever go back there again?!TRY NEVER!those people treated me like i didnt exist & helped out other customers in front of me in addition. no customer service skills, no hospitality. it hurts to be treated like youre invisible. sacramento will f up a persons self esteem & give them a complex. the ONLY warmth here comes from the sun because the people here are some of the coldest ive ever encountered in my life & im from here.THE DELI DEPARTMENT AT THIS SAFEWAY IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW NOT TO TREAT PEOPLE.

Great place to get groceries! It used to have a problem with low numbers of open registers, but as of recently its gotten quite better about it. Would highly recommend getting a club member card for great deals.

Aisles are clean and orderly. Produce looks good, and employees are all helpful and friendly. I would shop here more of it were not for the fact that their prices are often higher than some competitors like Winco or Walmart. Although, I would say that Safeway has a somewhat higher caliber of produce than Walmart. Just one mans opinion.

No pharmacy, very small, outdated entry and exit. But it is fairly clean and the staff was friendly enough. If you want to go to Safeway in the area, the one in Citrus Heights is better. This one on Elkhorn is conveniently located off I-80, however.

Tried to order a cake over the phone from the bakery. The lady who answered spoke very little English and could not understand me. She kept messing things up and wasnt able to answer any of my questions. Tried Russian and Spanish but she didnt speak those either (I was out of options at that point). When I asked to speak to a manager or another employee who could understand me, the lady told me that no one else was available who could speak better English than her.Very poor level of service if the store cant even ensure they have employees on hand who can communicate with potential customers. Needless to say I found another place to order a cake from.

Worst Safeway ever!!!!! Always lines down the isles because there is VERY rarely more than 2 check stands open after 5pm. (Or anytime really). This is when all the after work traffic happens. Get more help and stop being so cheap. The foods/goods are expensive so you should be able to afford it!

Safeway is a rather high price store, but if you need something quick, thats the place to go. The employees are very cordial and you Are comfortable when you come in. They also have a Starbucks, which makes good coffee.

This Safeway use to make sandwiches and they were delious.. They no longer make sandwiches, but they have some in there cooler in near the deli. I bought a sandwich from there, an extra large one. They pit all the meat to the front of the bread giving the impression that it is loaded with meat. Well it has 6 thin slices of meat and 3 pieces of kraft cheese, this is on a 12 inch French bread loaf. They dont put any Maynaise, mustard or tomatoes. They do put on disgusting piece wilted lettuce. When I got it home I had to add meat, condiments, lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. Shame on you Safeway for the misrepresentation of you deli sandwiches.

Today things were not stocked well, produce bags were sparce, organic items were hard to locate, sani-wipes for cart handles were not readily available.I will continue to shop here but will certainly mention this if it happens again.

Awful store and worse customer service. There is only ever one or maybe two lanes open no matter what time of day. At 1 pm I waited 20 minutes at customer service and no one came.
