Deli department service is horrible. We came to get breakfast burritos. The lady Raelynn was on her phone on social mediafirst. We had to wait till she was done and then when we ordered, she had nothing ready. I asked for onion and she said she is out. lol how can you be out of onions in grocery store and she was out of Swiss cheese. We ask for spinach and she had that but didn’t give us. I keep forgetting how Safeway has changed with their service. This is my last time coming.

My 5 minute Safeway visit became 10 minutes due to this:1) I see Cocoa Krispies have a $1.99 sale price, so I try to open my Safeway app, which loads incredibly slowly.2) I cant find an easy way to switch the app to the particular Safeway store I was in, so eventually, I stumbled upon turning off my wi-fi (which said it was connected to Safeway) to discover that I actually wasnt connected to their wi-fi.3) I then was connected to Safeways wi-fi and figured out how to switch to the store I was in.4) I scanned the $1.99 deal, but it showed on their app Fruit Loops and two other cereals of the same brand, but not the Cocoa Krispies.5) At the check-out counter, I asked the clerk if with a photo of the sale tag he could make sure I get the discount, and he informed me that cashiers were no longer allowed to override that type of problem, so he told me to look at the member section on the app and luckily, my discount was there.Conclusion: Safeway has disallowed cashiers from overriding app issues before fixing their app! Yes, my issue was really a non-issue in this case, but this cart before the horse approach to fixing app issues is pathetic.Is Safeway a corner mom and pop store that cant afford to create an app that is able to connect to wi-fi for the precise store we are currently in automatically?Cant the app correctly show exactly what I will be getting a discount on right when I click on the discount bar code without knowing the intricacy of their software to find out?

Safeway is a great store . Its in a good location. Its very close so many neighborhoods. The one bad thing about this is wait time at the counter.They put a board if 3 or more person in line they will open a new counter. But thats not happen. it happen to me couple of time. There is self check out. At least one will be not working at some point of time. I really like the service of the water refill inside the store. thats very convenient. Overall its a nice store . It a great variety of fresh vegetables and fruits and deli& meat. The store is clean and neat.

I have been shopping at this grocery store since more than a year. Self checkout cashier Lanie (on 3rd june- evening) provided me the worst service. I dont care about the prices but i shop here with my family for good customer service. I dont think thats the case here anymore. It happened few times but i didn’t care. I have complained it to the manager and hope she will take some action or at least give customer service training to their staff. I dont think i will shop here anymore and if you are looking for amazing service please go to somewhere else.

This is like worst safeway ever. We were charged incorrectly for someone else’s transaction during self checkout. The store manager dominique couldn’t help us resolve the issue and kept blaming us while the issue was with the self checkout system. I wouldn’t recommend this grocery store to anyone. stale, broken system !

Good store, you get pretty much everything. can be maintained little well often will have huge lines for billings and they are slow... not really quick for any help on self checkouts... but you have starbucks,USBank, you Ice, lottery tickets, flowers, coinstar, redbox… huge bakery section.

Everyone that works here is warm and friendly. The stare is larger than most Safeways and has everything you could need. That being said it is a very busy store. Lots of traffic and crime.

Staff seems like family, and are friendly to customers. They are usually helpful if you need to locate a grocery item.They have security on site during open hours, and theyre observant of the store environment, yet nice.Starbucks staff is super, and make great coffee! Love how they decorate their space!Although there are homeless people in front at times, they dont bother you specifically. Except some mothers sit outside with their babies, not the safest situation...Overall, prefer to go out of my way to shop here, instead of Raleys... Just because they are kind.

In December 2023, loss prevention accused an older friend of mine from swim club of stealing a 12 pound roast (which she had returned to the deli) while she was exiting through self-checkout. She told them she didnt have the roast, but they insisted that she did. Having come from her swim workout, she was wearing her swim parka over her swimsuit, so to show her innocence, she took off her parka and stood there in only her swimsuit and shoes, as customers and Starbucks patrons looked on. The LP guy apologized and said his manager had told him to stop her, but the manager didnt want to come out himself.The one time I went to this Safeway since, I saw an older white-haired employee with glasses interrogating an African-American man and his girlfriend. I saw the couple leaving the store soon after me, and asked what was going on. They said they were stopped for no reason. True or not, this appeared to be another instance where loss prevention was more about harassing people than stopping shoplifting.

This review is a shout out to Z. I’ve always had a good experience at this Safeway, but Z makes it a little more fun and engaging. So many times I’ve been in line and barely gotten any acknowledgment from the cashier’s. I get it. Z is a jewel, enjoy her while you can, she’s headed for greatness!!!

Felt like I walked into the ghetto. Store was so dingy and unclean. Reminded me of why I never go to Safeway. So sad how bad their locations have become. Not a single person there was helpful and tried to ignore me. I asked if someone was working in the meat department and an old man told me “yeah his name is shark” and just kept walking. Another lady was working there and she said “I’m the only one working”. I ended up leaving due to how unhelpful everyone was. Horrible.

Customer service on the western union is horrible. The lady made me call western union for 2 hours on hold when we finally got ahold she didn’t want to call to have them give me my refund. Ive had personally a horrible experience with Customer Service - multiple times and no one calls me back at this Safeway in the past 3-6 months of current staff they have. They do not ever get back to you or call you back.I had a gift card damaged when I brought it in, they wanted my ID and information and took it in the back of their store. I called in at the number for the gift card, and asked if there was a report case and they said no, your store never called in for the damaged card or mentioned it in the past week.I also know one of the managers was having sex with one of my friends who worked here, and the guy was married. I hope your wife is happy about that.Its pretty crooked as a business here, but I am not going to try to embarrass this store more than what it is and go too much into depth.Your store needs better communication, better higher staff and practices onto how to establish your business. I wanted to work here, but truthfully I dont think the people you hire already is the problem.. no call backs ever and the managers you have had are kind of messed up.

Popped in to grab a fresh sandwich in the deli. Erica was behind the counter making a breakfast sandwich for another customer. It was so beautiful that I almost changed my mind.One can tell that she takes pride in her craftsmanship and customer service. I asked for onions and she noticed the ones in the tray were old and wilted. She took the time to cut fresh ones. I wish I would have taken a picture because it was by far better than the advertised sandwiches. My mouth was watering as she wrapped it.She asked if I wanted it cut in half where other deli clerks don’t so I was much appreciative.The sandwich tasted fresh and the crunch of the sour dough was perfect. I’m so thankful for the detail Erica took because the fresh red onions made a huge difference and the crunch of the cucumbers were delicious. I would have been super disappointed with the whimsy wilted ones. LolThank you Erica for your stellar customer service…it didn’t go unnoticed.

This Safeway seems neglected. Customer service is lacking, they appear to never be properly staffed during the busy hours, shelves are unorganized and the frozen sections usually have a thick layer of ice on most of the items implying theyve all defrosted and re-froze.Ive currently been sitting at 1 of their 2 Drove Up & Go spots waiting on my online order for almost 30 minutes. No one inside could assist and no one answers the number it says to call upon arrival.Heavily considering switching to another grocery store.

Today I asked for 4lbs of party wings at the meat counter. The tray had tons of both types of wings so I didnt specifically ask for either kind and thought nothing of it. To my surprise, I just unwrapped the bag to find the gentleman gave me ONLY drumsticks -- no flats.That is one of the most disrespectful things Ive ever experienced at a grocery store. I think Im safe in assuming that most people, like me, enjoy the flats more than the drums. The fact that he specifically didnt give me a single one is downright spiteful. On Monday evening my sister went in to buy a few items and was horribly discriminate and offended by one of the so called managers. My sisters roommate was furious and she went back to the to talk to this so called manager and was rude to her as well. This is not except able. We have laws and rules to protect our consumers from these issues. We plan to sue for violating discriminate acts in the state of California.

The store is amazing. It was very clean and everything was very well stocked. The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five stars is because well me and my husband were checking out at the front. There was a manager im guessing that came out and started giving her employees/the cashiers Orders of things to do and she had quite an attitude with them. I feel like employees should not be treated like that, especially not in front of customers and some of the things she was saying to them was slightly rude.

They have a good variety, but many items are in short supply. Lots of bargain shoppers in this town, they gobble up the shelves when there is a sale. Employees are 100% indifferent to your existence (I shop at all hours and this statement always applies). Overall all the store is clean and I can usually get in and out with what I came for.

I was shopping here one night it was 10:40pm and one of the workers told me to hurry up because the store is closed even though it says that you close at 11pm they closed the doors early and didnt let no one else in whats going on is this new??? Are the workers here lazy to stay open for 20 more minutes? Selfcheck is only open when I shop here at night around 8 pm, and theres no checkstands open, and nobody wants to open up. Been shopping here over 20 years. Always out of stock of same items every week. Check out lines are a joke. Lots of times only 15 or less lane open. Im not an employee, will not use self checkout. Good luck finding a cart, unless you get one from the parking lot. This store has become a joke, dont know how they are still in business.

Terrible staff. Poorly managed. Prices on several items are mispriced, especially the dog food! My son also works there and complains about other employees which exhibit racism, drug sales by certain employees on-site in the parking lot to other employees and patrons, yet managers simply close their eyes or look the other way allowing such behaviors continue without any fear by the ones engaging in the illegal activities. I refuse to shop there, unless totally necessary. I took my business to Food Maxx instead, even though their inventory of variety is limited, but at least no problems with pricing or drug activity noticed.

This Safeway is hands down the best Safeway EVER! PERIOD! Ive been to every other Safeway throughout the nation and they all suck, but NOT THIS ONE!! No siree, this Safeway has it all and then some! Its all that AND a bag of potato chips! And talk about clean!! I slip and fall everytime I go due to their freshly polished floors! In general, I appreciate Safeway Stores because of the wide variety of items, their lower prices and organization of the store. The quality of Safeway items is really good. Try the whole wheat burger buns, organic fruits, cupcakes, variety of cakes, grocery, alcohols, office supplies, flowers, dairy items and what not. A little bit pricier than other grocery stores but worth because of the quality. Some stores are 24x7 open but this one is until 11pm.Amazon lockers, DMV kiosk is definitely value add.” and good deal for customers and Safeway and partners.Self checkout is an issue here at times. For example, it took a couple of attempts even for the staff to make it working for me.

I’m a DoorDash driver and I despise getting orders at this particular Safeway. This location is so bad at their own delivery system they often have to contact DoorDash to deliver their orders. So keeping in mind that they are the ones requesting a doordasher, they are extremely rude to us drivers. That’s when they finally bother to acknowledge that we are even there to pick up an order they requested us to pick up. Usually we just stand there trying to get some help. It’s always either ‘not my job’ or they blatantly ignore you. Today I was there waiting with another driver and the older lady told hm ‘your lucky today’ in a snotty voice and got the order he was waiting to pick up but refused to hand it to him, making another employee do it instead. These people seem to forget that for one thing, they called us and for another that we’re there to get THEIR customers the stuff they ordered. I thought at first that some of the employees were just having a bad day…but this happens every single time you go in there. I refused orders from this location for months due to these peoples hostility and made the mistake to give them a try today. Nope still rude as ever. I hope they don’t treat their customers the same way…I wouldn’t know as I also refuse to shop at this terrible location. Every other location has polite, friendly and professional employees.

For the most part, this is the store I visit most frequently. The variery of product is sufficient and the store is clean. I wod give it five stars, but I do not like the now overly limited number of open cash registeres. They should monitor the line of waiting shoppers better. If you have alcohol, you cannot use self checkout, so that is not an option they try to push.

Store 309, Dir Ondrea TainowitzOn Wednesday night, February 22, at about 7:30 PM, I was shopping at the Safeway, located at 39100 Argonaut Way, the Fremont Hub, a shopping center in Fremont, CA. I was going to pay for two bags of tortillas and powdered drink mix, adding up to about $9.50. An employee, a young, short and stocky man, with black hair and goatee, almost crashed into me, intentionally, trying to block my way as I moved into the self check out machine. He then moved and acted oddly as he stood in a corner watching me as I scanned each item. No excuse me or sorry.I am a 54 year old, Ph.D., teacher at the Fremont Unified School District. And I am a Latino Muslim, although I was not dressed up in religious clothing. This man stood there in the corner watching me, until I finished, making me feel very unconfortable, like some thief. For what? Less than $10 in paid merchandise? All was paid for and I left upset. I have been shopping there since 2017 but this is my last time going into your store. You would think that Sunday morning at 6:30 would be an easy time to go shopping. Not so at this clusterf*** of a store. There was staff working everywhere in the store, most of them fooling around and talking with some pretty colorful language, and about half of them not even wearing masks. I wasted my time filling up my cart with about $200 worth of groceries because I couldnt get anyone to come to the checkout counter, and since I had alcohol, self checkout was not an option. There were three people working at the front of the store and a fourth who walked by and looked at me then kept going. They were all more interested in laughing at someone in the parking lot than actually doing their jobs. Well, they ended up creating more work for themselves because after waiting for about five minutes, I gave up and left my groceries there for them to restock. Do yourself a favor and avoid this chaotic, mismanaged store. Lucky a few blocks away has a similar selection and actually seems to care about keeping their customers.

Visited with my kids and wife and during the check out counter was using my WIC card and the lady get so angry when asking for extra 2 bags. She told me that you cannot have 2-3 bags but I do know that if we use WIC card bags are usually free. She was very rude to me and upon asking where is your manager, she said he’s not here..Will never go back to that Safeway again for sure.

Every time I go into the store they lack products. I told myself I’d never go in again however I live down the street. So today I decided to walk down there to get a yerba maté mint flavor. Just average for an average grocery chain.Its clean and tidy and has all of the basics. It has a horrible coffee shop that you probably enjoy in it. But virtually no staff to be found if you need them. There is always homeless people in front of the store and on a petty note, they have a horrible coffee selection compared to other Safeways. This shop is good for a quick midday run where you dont need something specific.

Earlier this afternoon, I had a bad customer service experience at the Deli counter. A Deli worker was standing at the counter waiting for a male Caucasian to pass by but he kept passing by her and I was right behind him and noticed that this Deli worker quickly turned her back right before I got closed to her standing behind the counter. As I slowed down to look at something, I noticed that she quickly turned her back and left the counter so she did not have to wait on me. After she walked away from me and pretended to be busy, I sensed this Deli worker not wanting to interact with me because she turned around ensuring that I left the Deli area. Im a DoorDash driver. I had to wait for a long time for an order we should have been ready by the time when I arrive. I think stuff wasnt unaware of the order and they made me to wait for a long time and I canceled the order and left. More than that they told me to bring the cart along with me which is not mentioned in the instructions so I have to go outside and get the cart. I went to buy cake at 7 in the evening after the bakery hours. They staff at safewy helped me to get the cake out and asked me to pay at the counter. And the lady at the counter was asking for the bar code which i dont have any idea and told that your staff helped me. She treated me as if i stole the cake and asked the other guy to take me out from the counter saying i was blocking the counter. The supervisor came and said the cake price is 19.99$ though the tag at the bakery mentioned 12.99$. I told the same but he ignored me. I didnt have a pleasant experience here today. I was standing there for over 30 min to get my sandwich, there is no line there. There is a couple buying 3 sandwiches with lots of specific requirements, and they have problems on payments too. And there are 2 clerks serving them at the same time. And for me, I just needed to get a regular sandwich to go, only would take 3 to 5 min the most. I understand people have specific needs for their food and I dont have a problem with that but I have a problem with everyone whos on duty is trying to serve one order and leave other people waiting and waiting. After months of trying to go at 3am to avoid PEOPLE I know now when to come lol.. Nice! Been to 3-4 Safeway stores here in Cali. This is a cleaner, nicer, and stocked store compared. Safeway did a complete remodel of their store at Fremont Hub ! The store is clean, food items are much easier to locate. My daughter and myself found majority of what we needed to buy at this Safeway today ( 09/14/2019) . As a child growing up my mother did 80 % of her grocery shopping at Safeway in Gilroy ( my hometown) California. Back then prices were of course lower and demand wasnt as great as now. We got to know quite a few of the employees who worked there and if we needed something taken care of they were right there to help. I have been shopping from this safeway since last year but recently i have noticed that most of their itmes specially yogurts, milks, breads and some other things have already expired and yet they are up on sale. Safeway has no idea how to do self-checkout right. They have 3 rows of checkout stations, one of which is behind some tall display so its hard to tell when people are leaving the stations, and they expect you to line up in a food aisle so youre not blocking shoppers. Sometimes, people dont see the line and just walk up to an open station without waiting, and then youre stuck in line behind someone who lets them cut the line instead of speaking up.Target and Luckys set up a dedicated aisle for their self-checkout stations so that everyones single file, and theres no confusion. Safeways the only store thats been doing it badly for years. Annoying AF.

The deli cashier went out of her way to make me smile since the store does not carry roasted chicken breasts / its so hard to find white meat behind the counter I dont understand whats this obsession with dark meat but I dont eat dark so I picked up a roasted hole chicken the young lady was very nice enough to chop up the chicken and separate the white from the dark because I was going to throw the dark in the trash so thank you from saving me from throwing the chicken in the trash I was able to give it to someone else to enjoy.

This location was once considered a flagship, prior to its recent acquisition by Luckys. Sadly, the location has become overpriced (ex. $8 per pound for tri-tip, one of the cheapest cuts of beef). Selections have been eliminated in favor of Safeway-generic items. Safety after 4pm has also become an issue-- transients take over the tables and chairs meant for customers, and brazenly troll the parking lot panhandling and looking for open doors / windows in vehicles. I used to shop this location several times a week -- now, maybe once a month, and never after 4pm.

Worst experience ever this morning..have purchased few items here and did go through the self checkout and paid for everything I purchased..AND THIS lady comes to me while I was getting into my car and asked me stop..I wasn’t sure as for she wanted me to stop..and when I did stop she came to me saying SHE BELIEVES I DIDNT PAY FOR WHAT I BOUGHT and the cops who were present therelike Wanted to know if I paid for them..luckily I had my receipt and showed it to the policeman..THIS IDIOTIC LADY didn’t even apologize for her MISTAKE AND JUST WALKED AWAYSafeway sucks..HATE YOU SAFEWAY..you got to train your employees well before you put them at work..SHAME ON YOU

Waited for service at the bistro for like 6min(no line). There was 5 people in the front preping food and just staring at me. Then a lady from another station came and started sorting the potato wedges like there were good ones and bad ones(tossing the bad ones back in the pile I assume. ) I felt disgusted and walk away.

Safe babe used to be very cheap but not anymore the prices are on the higher side compared to the other stores however you can find some products at a good price also some other specialty like food and I trust that you can get for a moderate price

Get ready to stand around. 8 out of 10 times I find myself standing in long lines here. Theyre like Costco line long, like cmon, get more cashiers and for heavens sake open the express check out lane. Although this is my neighborhood Safeway I try to avoid coming here.
