Great store. Clean, plenty of parking. Watch out for the homeless guy living in his car to the South part of the parking lot smoking marijuana. Good customer service really good bathroom. Purchase the last two six packs of Henry weinhard soda pop. Its a small store so be prepared for that. Super nice guy in the deli and made me a breakfast burrito to write home about. Highly recommended location.

I’m local to the neighborhood and I swear, this Safeway is horrible with customer service. Everytime I need assistance I can never find anyone to help me. Sometimes even when I ask I am waiting 10+ minutes for an answer.Tonight it was for a money order and apparently no one knows the numbers to do it. Except one person. I tell them I’ll just go somewhere else after waiting 7-8 minutes, and then the lady answers but I hear her say, oh she’s just going to leave now.Well I’m still here?! Can’t you help me?Also I’ve been here multiple times to get baby formula and it is a ridiculous process, and I can never find one employee in the store to help me so I end up waiting in a line of like 10 people just to ask. Because the “help” button I’m told by staff it isn’t even operable because “even if you push it, no one will come for you, it doesn’t do anything” that’s what they told me. Ridiculous?

Employees are super friendly.Its an older store and I love it .No muss, no fuss. It still has the neighborhood store vibe which is why I shop here vs the big new boujee ones closer to me in Concord.

They didn’t honor the price tag that said 4 for 20 ! They said I couldn’t mix the items that are marked 4 for 20 . Even after they made me go back to the area where I purchased the items to prove to them that is what it said . I asked for a refund . What a horrible experience. Will be contacting distant manager.

The store itself is great and the staff are all pleasant and very helpful. The exterior is in rough shape, as is the parking lot. They could spend some money and make their parking lot kandscaping as nice looking as others in surrounding towns and cities. Plus they could use the occasional security guard to keep stuff like this attached photo from happening.

EDIT 5/16/23 -- Surprise surprise. Still HORRIBLE. 8:40 on a Tuesday night and only ONE checker. Shouldve just driven the extra 10 minutes to TJs.EDIT: 10/5/22 -- Nothing has changed. Lines are still ridiculous. Its 4:45 on a Wednesday and only TWO checkstands are open. This. Is. Ridiculous.This Safeway has always been bad, but now that school is back in session the lines get unbearable and its nothing but chaos. There are only three checkstands open currently and the lines zig-zag everywhere. The cashiers are doing the best they can...management needs to get their act together and try just a LITTLE harder to schedule appropriately.

I was just making a quick trip in, but we all know how that quick trip can easily turn into a half hour waiting in line. So, I was very pleased when I saw they had self checkout options and plenty of staff waiting to help. Nice and big building and isles so carts can actually pass by each other without playing bumper carts!

Our experience at Safeway stores is always a surprise. In our weekly travels we can stop by any one of 9 locations. Five out of the nine are so poorly Managed...in our opinion and experience. Employees are rude, cluster behind the registers and counters on their phones. Disrespectful to customers, poorly trained and downright unhappy.We do our best to avoid these five locations but, sometimes we cant and just leave shaking our heads.🤔

Though not perfect,the staff here are great workers. Theyre capable and are willing to help the population of older patients. They accomodate to take care of the rougher edges of our population. They work with difficult people with grace and humor. This is a smaller Safeway but its generally well maintained.

I live only two blocks from this store so Id love to do my shopping here but based on the two experiences I had there this week Ill now be going to nob hill a few miles away. Earlier this week I had the shower checker ever. He was handling one item at a time with both hands, scanning, then pushing each item slowly down the counter to the bagger. It took FOREVER. So today I saw him working and made sure not to get in his line. Instead I got in a different line and this guy was also slow as molasses even though he could see the lines were backed up down the aisles. ZERO sense of urgency. It will actually be faster to drive a little further and go elsewhere.

Theres a great selection of foods crammed into this small store. It was extremely clean and the meats were very fresh. I live equidistant from 3 major chains and this one is by far the most economical, especially if you watch the specials and coupons. Nice!! This safeway is awful, I usually go the nice one 6 miles away but when I go this one I usually regret it. I just went to buy breakfast stuff, got home and found the breakfast sausage I bought expired in Dec 2021, so 6 months past good. Cant be bothered driving all the way back so these are going in the trashUpdate March 2023. Its still totally understaffed, there are 15+ people lining up the isles waiting to checkout. Everytime I come I regret it more than a bad hangover

A small-ish Safeway, but they have a decent selection. Its clean, and usually well-stocked. The HUGE issue is that they are perpetually understaffed, so expect to wait in line most days. I feel bad for the checkers.

I live close to this Safeway and I will usually drive to the one by the mall because this one is soooo bad. Long lines, expired food, fruit gets moldy the next day, even milk expires before the expiration date. Also the deli is always out of things that the store has In Stock… today they were out of tomatoes and bacon and olive spread. Seriously they could just walk over and get some from the store. Also the guy working there hates his job. I was hoping the deli might have gotten better and took a gamble but learned never to do that again. I only go here if I’m desperate and need something that is preserved or in a can. They need new management, it’s a fact. Read the other reviews. Not sure how they have 4 stars.

This Safeway is relatively well stocked, but also pretty small. My only real complaint is that they often get backed up at check out during peak times because they dont open all of their check lanes. I dont tend to buy specialty did so cant speak to their variety.

Safeway, like most Albertson stores, is a great place to shop for groceries. This Safeway was very organized, and provided with a variety of products all around. The fresh bakery products where always fresh and stocked. Without a club card, prices may be a bit high, but getting one is free and you get plenty of deals. You can also download Safeway mobile app and find even better deals youll find no where else. Would give this location 9/10. It could have a bit more variety of drinks.

This Safeway feels like your typical, slightly outdated, medium-sized Safeway. It isnt dirty, but it isnt exceptionally clean. It isnt run-down, but it definitely hasnt been updated.The reason this Safeway gets two stars is because it is ALWAYS under staffed. If you ever go here before 10 at night, you will nearly ALWAYS find around ten people in line, and ALWAYS with only ONE of the six check stands open. Even when the line grows upwards of fifteen or even twenty people, they will NOT open more than two check stands. On these occasions, I put my basket down and walk right out and go up to Nob Hill instead.When I went to the deli the other day, there were five people waiting and one person working. The poor employee was thanking everyone for their patience, as she was the only person on duty. It shouldnt take fifteen minutes to get a sandwich at Safeway. If wasnt the poor employees fault, but the fact that the store is ALWAYS under staffed. That being said, the deli worker was exceptionally friendly and made me this awesome Thanksgiving sandwich that she came up with herself.The only time I visit this Safeway is after 10:00pm; other than that, I have switched all of my business over to Nob Hill, even though it is more expensive and twice as far from my house, because the service at this location is so ridiculously bad that it is more convenient to drive an extra two miles and spend more on groceries than visit this place.

The staff do not care about customer service in the slightest. Time and time again, Im practically ignored when Im in line to pay. The cashier and courtesy clerk will carry on their own, private conversation as if Im not even there and Im barely acknowledged, even as items are rung up, I pay, etc.

I have been shopping in this store for years. I am always disappointed how understaffed they are. Hardly ever do they have any other check stands open other than 15 items or less. Everytime I have shopped there, I have a few things, yet I am behind someone who is buying 3 weeks worth of groceries. They call for back up, no other employees respond, and what should have been a quick trip ends up being a 30 minute ordeal which is why I avoid going here. They have been the same way for years. This place needs help.

Safeway fired me for saving a lady from being beat up in the parking lot. Called it workplace violence. I was a manager and they preferred I did nothing. If it were their wife or daughter being beat up they would have been different. I am a single dad and combat veteran now homeless! Please Please, boycott safeway and albertsons.

The male cashier who served me on the day I was here needs to be trained in customer service. He rolled his eyes when I got in his line and had an attitude when I asked what was the limit amount of cash back was. His answer, I dont know.. I guess up to $200? Then told me he only had a big bill when I requested $100. My suggestion for this store is to stick that older man in the back to scrub toilet bowls because he will drive your customers away. Otherwise tell him if he doesnt like his job he should quit. Would of given a 0 star for bad customer service but gave this place a 1 star because the store was clean and organized.

Just like any other Safeway there is plenty of options, however this particular Safeway is of lower quality when compared to the newer stores. I think the older floor tiles, shelves, and paint job make it look like its stuck in the late 80s or early 90s.Also, overall their list of products is smaller and they tend to have less exotic things. One particular example is ice cream, the Ben and Jerrys section is smaller with fewer choices. Like If a new flavor comes out they have to replace an older one to make room instead of cutting down on a more popular flavor.In a pinch I will shop here, but usually I go across town to the other one to get all I want in one place.

Decent hours. They typically just run two lines. They are a little slow on opening a new line when they have more than 3 in a line. There is a redbox inside. They do not carry a lot of the more diverse cultural foods, but it is sufficient.

Very disappointed I went in shopping to get some stuff for my husband and for dinner and I find it unacceptable that this store does not enforce mask for customers. When asked why this is not enforced I was told they had to many violations and were being sued as a company.This is totally unacceptable as I am high risk and have a compromised immune system and you as a company cant enforce something that was made mandatory in the state of California.So are we making exceptions now ? And if you let one person not wear a mask then its acceptable for everyone else right ? Are you going to pay my medical bill if I catch this virus and you didnt ensure that safety of your customers that are shopping and abiding by the rules ?

It depends on the time of day that you go. For instance if you go on a busy time forget trying to find anyone to help you with anything at all but go when its slow and it almost feels they are following you dont know if they are trying to help or if they are afraid of theft but im 60 I dont look like a theif. Safe way as a whole has gone waaaaay downhill. They rarely carry items on sale for 5$ friday, at all stores. Weve shopped at 4 different sfwy stores, & ALL the delis were a joke. 3 weeks in a row they werent trained to use a slicer so couldnt buy any meats! What? 4 workers, no mgr on duty either. Theyre always out of their rotisserie chickens on fridays. Plus they continue to blame corporate for the stores issues. Even other items through out the store arent atocked. Produce is awful! Narroe isles, quite crowded at the time I was there. Otherwise, no real problems. I used to live in Martinez and usually shopped at Safeway for the past 6 decades. I would recommend Safeway over Albertsons, Luckys and others in Martinez. Store is alway fully stocked and always kept very clean!

I hate Safeway and this one is the worst. So ghetto inside and out. Drug deals going on in the parking lot. Weird minimal parking lot. Hardly any parking close to the entrance. I was almost too scared to even get out of my car. Employees never smile and always have a bad attitude. I have only shopped here twice out of necessity, but I will avoid this one at all costs.

The girl working the deli right now needs to either be retrained or removed asap. I ordered a sandwich off the menu, a chicken artichoke (add pesto), pretty simple. She threw it together pretty quickly but I noticed she put the tomatoes on before putting it in the oven, not a big deal (But, it tends to leave the sandwiches a bit soggy and the tomatoes limp and lifeless), so I overlooked it. Then she said, Is that all and I reminded her that I had requested pesto. When she handed me the sandwich I reminded her that the sandwich is typically served hot. She turned around a threw is in the microwave....not the oven, the microwave. So now, what I have is a sandwich that is hot on the outside and cold in the middle with tough chewy bread on the top and soggy bread falling apart on the bottom leaking from its poorly constructed wrapper. This inedible mess is a huge dissapointment and had it been my first Safeway deli experience, it surely would have been my last.
