I came here on Saturday 8:10am to buy a sandwich so I can have lunch for my 6 hour class. The lady behind sandwich counter ignored me when I walked up. I stood for awhile and she walked away without saying anything. She arrived a few moments later and before I could say anything told me I can only have a breakfast sandwich. I asked why wasnt the deli sandwiches ready and if somewhere in the store had one. She said they werent ready because the bread wasnt ready. I was visibly annoyed and she let me know that she could go get the bread and make a sandwich. This made me feel like she was playing games and just didnt want to work because why wasnt that an option from the start? Im not sure though because I just left and didnt bother to talk to a manager. No lunch for me. Very disappointing. Happened on Saturday 5/11 at about 8:10am.

Wait times for the meat dept is ridiculous. After standing there for 15 minutes I went to look for another employee to ask if the dept was open and he said he would call the person. The person never showed up, regardless of the several customers waiting. We all left frustrated at the low morale of customer service. I will not be back.

Staff doesnt keep the carts at all. Carts will be stacked in the parking lot only. Customers only have to go and get the carts. Very pathetic service from Safeway staff.Clean and organized. Billing queue will be more in peak hours. Still the billing counters will not be attended by staff. Only one will be open.They dont open self checkout around 10pm and only one billing counter will be open. We see big queue at night and still they dont open more billing counter or self checkout counters.Opening more Billing counters in peak hours would help and also whenever you see many people waiting in the queue for billing they need to open either self check out or more billing counters.Water filters arent working and stopped working while I was refilling. Now there is a machine outside the building and not very convenient to get it refilled.

Worst supermarket ever. New edit still the worst ever the guy from the dei counter had to go to lunch and they close down the deli, really you want me to wait 27 minuets for the guy to return. I was told this by another female employee who is standing next to the deli counter doing nothing. Now i have been standing at the guest service counter for 11 minutes, and nobody has even tried to assist me. What the F are the people running this place thinking. I recommend no o e shop at this place. I am begging you please for your own sanity and mine shop somewhere else. Prices are higher than Whole Foods. You need a mortgage for a weeks worth of food. The employees dont know where anything is, and it seems the deli is never slicing meat. When you have a question, employees say I dont know. Shouldnt they go fi d out the answer. Its just horrible service. It will not change where is Ralphs when you need one. Really should be -4☆

Local Warm Springs safeway always is out of stock with produce that is almost always spoiled or rotting. Gotten much worse over the past year. Always understaffed with overworked staff running around. 12 registers with two open at best any time. Its clear theyre cost cutting and know that there is little to no competition other than the much better Osaka and 99 Ranch. Looking forward to them providing more expensive and worse quality food going forward.Updating to one star: currently waiting in line for 30 minutes in self check out

I don’t think I’ll be shopping here anymore. At least not at this location. The street vendors who hang outside the store are very annoying and even aggressive. They’ll straight up harass you if say “no thank you” to whatever they’re selling. I’d start carrying pepper spray if you choose to keep shopping here

Safeway is convenient, but super expensive, you can expect to pay 30% to 70% more than average of competition., depending on product, once vanilla syrup was $18 compared to $6 to retail chain the area. Pricing seems, is done based on individual knowledge of staff or managers, not by industry data.

There are not enough cashiers working at any time. Check-out lines are long and the cashiers are slow moving. The last time I went shopping here there were no cashiers working, it was 6pm on a busy Friday! Only the self-checkouts were open and with a long line of customers going past the Deli.This place used to be well stocked but I have been noticing more and more old & expired food items like bread, vegetables, and fruit being sold. I bought some bread and the next day I noticed mold on the bottom of it.The only thing efficient about this Safeway is their Pharmacy.

I only come to this Safeway occasionally, however whenever I come, the staff members are super friendly and helpful. At meat department, Ivans kindness makes me feel like a local butcher, and Gregory too, both of them proudly present Safeways great customer care and services. Highly recommended.

On my way home today, I went to this store just to get milk and iced tea after work.Only the self check out and wine section cashiers were opened at that time, this incident around 5:30 pm. So, I was waiting at the shelf checkout to get my turn, it’s a long line at the shelf check out.I saw a guy is going to open another cashier, his name is Carlos, he called his friends which they are in front of me (2 guys) so I followed behind them. Then, while he scanned the items for his buddies he told me “ Mam, I am closed” I didn’t say anything just go back to my line in the shelf check out. Then, I heard Carlos called another girl way behind me to go to his stand so he can help her, which according to him, she is buying the gift card, and I came to Carlos and asked him, you just said to me that you are closed and why you are helping her?I was so furious for this kind of behavior.I walked to the customer service to complaint to the store manager and no one is there, waiting and waiting. And, I saw Carlos open for other customers. Another female cashier told me that the store manager left and she is another manager that can run my items, I am already not happy with the whole situation and just want to go home and file complain to Safeway Corporation.I expect a better customer service from Safeway, I understand for 1 time if Carlos wants to help his buddies, but not for the 2nd time and he opened for the 3rd time.

I was here to purchase some flowers. And the experience was short and sweet. The store has a very clean and fresh feel. I bought two bouquets of flowers and paid for them and the service was great. I really like to go to Safeway as things are very organized at these stores.

I went yesterday to get some Collard Greens, hot sauce, and something Sushiesque... I walk in and for the 3rd time theres like an all call over the speaker. I know im fresh off work and all, and my get up is dusty, and maybe oily but ive got no energy to steal a thing. Could all just be a coinkydink, but the little security guy damn near escorted me to the condiment aisle. By golly,he was also behind me in the self check out... probably just acoincidence though.I do like the store. Great sourdough, decent ramen selection, Sandwiches used to be great, customer service is good.

Please have manager / GM call meOn 7/19/20, when i checked out at least two advertised discount were not applied. After lots of time it was corrected by a baldy impolite little guy called Eric. The Sierra Nevada discount (13.88 vs 19 something) was without explanation. The chips were apparently that 2 / 3 free meant 3 free, not the 3rd free (no warning about that and no application of discount even if i had only 3 why not?). Anyway, as the guy moves away i ask him if anything else in teh store is like that (planning that after the apology i would ask to make sure that management knows and makes sure all discounts are reviewed and reflected). Instead I was told Buddy! All your discount are in now? if you are not happy, i can remove them! The chips were not our fault . First of all I do not accept to be called Buddy, second issue is obvious I am sure@! I asked to speak to the manager. I am called to go (instead of coming to me) to the register of the self service where Iris stands. She seems offended that I point at her why explaining. I refused to take teh suggestion that i should not do so. When asked her what she plans to do, she said nothing. when I asked if she was a manager. She said she was not! When I asked to then have the manager called immediately, she gave me a piece of paper with the store number to call. I refused and asked for teh duty manager. She then told me she was the front end manager! So why did she misidentify herself first? Anyway, I gave my number and asked to be called today by a responsible manager.Clearly your employees must understand that there are minimum politeness and behavior that is expected from them. I do not understand why your manager did not apologize or guarantee me that it would not happen again. She said she would review the video! What is there to review? She does not believe me?So please contact me immediately and explain how you plan to deal with Eric and retraining Iris! i am expecting apologies, explanations and whatever else you want o propose.In addition, lets not forget the core issues: teh cash registry should reflect the prices and discount you display in the aisles! two incorrect on a few items is really problematic!Your immediate attention is expected. i am waiting for your call! Leave a message on how to reach you if you do not reach me!----On 6/6/20, they have now decided to ask and enter in the cash registry the full date of birth if you buy alcohol! that is a security issue. Your bank or credit card company and other services accept to give access to account operations with that information. And they store that with the credit card that you use to purchase? It is irresponsible. Who believes the geniuses at Safeway can prevent hackers from getting ? STOP THAT IMMEDIATELY!now they redesigned... so good luck to find something. items are more there (salami stick, turnover etc) and they pretend to force you to pay items in the special zone .. but nobody is there. why? just to make more money by using you as cashier at the automated lines? they argue when you give them feedback instead of thanking for it! terrible!apple turnover expired on 26 th. we are 27. and they must of the time dont have it in the morning and dropped doing the cherry ones2 cash registry opened despite zillions of people queueing...ifem on july 12, expired july 10. who do they think they are? they clearly dont learn!

I like this store because its always very well stocked and very clean. This is the only store that consistently stocks the crepes that my daughter loves (either it is well stocked or customers in the area just dont like the item). I almost always find what I need because they keep the shelves and the refrigerators/freezers fully stocked.

It was great! No lines. Love going here. I can buy things I need or want and rarely wait a long time.Last time I went, I was in, out, and on with my life in under 10 minutes. I love the parking lot as well, there are a lot of parking spaces.There are some reserved for Starbucks parking but you can ignore that and park in those spots anyway.

I made a quick stop to pick up some things. The store is so nice inside. The reason for only 4 stars is because there is no checkers around. From the time that I walked in, I saw no one. After waiting for the self-service stand to clear after a few seconds, a checker came to assist me and took me to the counter. When I inquired about employees I was told that they were experiencing issues with hiring because people feel like the pay wasnt high enough for living in Silicone Valley. 😟. She was very nice and we had a good conversation during the time she rang me up. How sad it is that these companies cannot find the employees to sustain these businesses any longer especially since COVID-19 came into play. Most people feel that they are entitled to a huge salary simply because we live here and now with service stations taking over...its only going to get worse. 🤦‍♂️.

Today, I went to exchange unopened packs of zero cola I bought yesterday due to cancer warnings it may cause.However, the exchange was refused because in the receipt, it said original cola.I am 100% sure this is a scanner error and this was not my problem. Despite my pack of zero cola being exchange to original cola, I went through some unpleasant staff. She was making assumptions of me like saying I bought it from another store and I am exchanging it here. Why is she making these assumption? That is not the case at all, and it was unpleasant experience.

This Safeway is located on Mission Blvd, right off the 680 freeway. Theres plenty of free parking within the shopping center. They have a large variety of fruits and veggies. The shopping experience was good. Prices are a little on the higher side compared to another store across the street. If you sign up for membership, you might find some good deals and save.

Most of the items are costly. We should be careful when we look at the price tag, the price displayed in bold is for membership, for non membership the price will be written in small letters. Dont get excited by seeing the price in bold and add to your cart if you are not a member. We get similar products in other stores at much cheaper price

Not a bad Safeway. Carts are really beaten up. Often get ones that make noises or turn hats to the left or right and make it hard to push. Fairly nice staff and good fresh meat/ seafood selection. Produce is okay too plus good parking available. 👍🏼

One of the cleanest, neatest Safeway stores in Fremont! The deli is awesome for a quick lunch. The sandwiches here are the best! If you have a Safeway Club Card you get great discounts on everything including the deli! The bakery has the best breads of anywhere around and its (almost) always fresh and soft and delicious! Would be 5 stars for this particular location but that amazing bread wasnt so fresh my last 2 trips (which is very odd). Also, theres a somewhat aggressive panhandler that often stands out by the entrance that likes to exchange words if you dont pony up any cash. Otherwise, the place is awesome! Everything is always fully stocked. Service is quick and friendly. Help is readily available even at the Self Checkout lanes. Even the florists like (and are really good) at doing their job!

I have been shopping at this safeway for 10+ years and encountered the worst customer service tonight. The cashier was generally rude but my issue was with the way he was haphazardly handling and throwing my fruit down the conveyor belt, some of which rolled out of the bags and he did not bother to rebag any of my items and just dismissed me. I asked him to not throw my fruit and he responded with Ive got to hurry... there was one customer with a single item purchase behind me, yet he felt it necessary to scan my items in a rushed way and carelessly toss them down the conveyor belt. Im not sure what he had to hurry for, perhaps a break - but that is not a valid reason to be a jerk to customers. If he didnt have time to check me out, he should have said so.The cashier name on my receipt reads Pansy although he was a tall Asian fellow and Im pretty sure thats not his name. His customer service skills are garbage.I requested a manager come over and they did. They apologized on his behalf, but the cashier did not apologize and continued to be dismissive.Just within a 0.5 mile radius there are 2 other grocery store options. This kind of bad customer service will drive customers to those other stores.

The worst Safeway Ive ever been to! Its huge & very clean but theres nothing in there and no one to help. I went in for less than 15 items on a delivery for someone and could not for the life of me get anyone to pick up a phone and call Someone who spoke English or worked in produce department.. For how big it was I only saw about 7 employees in the whola Mega Safeway. If youre looking for customer service good luck. I feel like getting a job there just so I can retrain the 10 people working. The lines were ridiculous and there was one cashier in the evening. Super slow and no one Knows what theyre doing Or how to treat customers. I never get mad and it wasnt even my food but I literally feel like pulling my hair out for spending an hour and a 1/2 in a store for less than 15 items an items. Corporate needs to hire people and retrain them ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous!!!

The staff are have pleasant attitudes and are accommodating, willing to search for some obscure item to help a customer. The management is also friendly too, this store is definitely run properly.The only negative aspect may be that the average price is much higher than larger store chains. This may be due to them selling higher quality products though.

Peggylyn goes out of her way to help me select the right flowers, advice on color, bunch and best of all helps me put it together in a beautiful bouquet. I ordered a birthday cake and the following morning I was told they could not fill the cake I ordered. They had my phone number but did not call to inform me. The bakery worker was not willing to offer any substitution. I had to insist. The cake I took home was the driest tres leches cake. It was awful. I have always purchased cakes from Safeway and they have always been great. We just moved to this area. I will not purchase from the bakery in the future. Really disappointed customer.

Frustrated. No cashiers were open except the one in liquor area. Had to use self checkout, the plastic bags there I couldnt get open plus no bags in the produce area, so I had lots of loose veggies to weigh, during these times could not bring in my own bags. Had multiple exceptions that required a staff member. I know they are likely understaffed. Still left me frustrated. I was told it would be 7 minutes before a cashier would be available.

Nice place for grocery shopping. However, checkout is not great. I came at 10 AM on a Saturday, and there were only two cashiers working, with about 8 customers waiting in each line. Weekends are prime time for groceries, so why didnt they have more cashiers?!Also, this place doesnt have self checkout. Why not put those in place to help move more customers?

Dangerous.The entire pandemic Ive seen employees with sagging masks and mask less customers. This Safeway now makes you feel like a degenerate when you need to buy batteries. Theyre locked in a case, and walked to the register where you cant touch them until after youve bought them.Furthermore, the lines are ridiculously long, as there are no self checkout stations and the store employs only two cashiers per shift, no matter how busy the store is.Why are there so many checkout lines?

Called and spoke to a manager about a drink that I paid almost $7 for which was bitter and she said to come in and we can make it again for you.... I went back a couple of times and she was not there... when she was there finally she told me that she is not going to make it right because it had been so long!!! Well, GINA (the person who calls themselves a manager) first of all, you should stick to your word and make things right when you promise a customer something; that is called customer service. Secondly, you are not always at the store and were not there a few times that I had been there asking for you. And lastly, as a manager you should know that your Starbucks location was out of certain juices and mixers for the longest time so even if you were there your location could not have been able to make things right until now which is when you have these juices back in stock..... Disappointed in Such poor service from the barista who made the wrong drink and Gina, the so called manager who does not know how to provide customer service!!

Without a club card, or if you dont check the on-line ads, youll pay way too much. The signs for the specials are the club card prices. They put the good stuff on both sides of a huge store, with aisles and aisles of stuff you dont want in between. Dont get separated from your group. The checkers are inconsistent with their throughput, and it seems like they think that if they check slowly, they just get a longlines, not realizing that if people come to check out faster than they process them, the line keeps getting longer.For the last two hours that theyre open, they pile pallettes of stock at the back of the store, and some of the food cant be accessed unless you abandon your cart.

I love going to SW but the San Leandro store needs lots of help. I visited one in Fremont near Tesla yesterday and it felt like totally different from the one on Bancroft Ave in San Leandro. It was like being in the White House in Fremont and jail in San Leandro. A stranger in front of me in line even paid for my sandwich out of the blue. Stores in lessor affluent areas should be nice too.

This is an awful place to shop. Produce and meat are often rotten, prices are high, and theres always a long line to checkout no matter what time you shop. I usually only see one or two cashiers on duty. Ive seen a broken door sit propped open for weeks. Today my cart wheels locked on the way out the door, so I had to carry everything and leave my stranded cart in the fire lane. Ill be traveling to Trader Joes or Whole Foods as often as possible to avoid returning here.

Im very hurt and saddened by today experience with the manager (Rodriquez) at Safeway in Franciscan Center . Im a regular customer of this Safeway cause its my neighborhood supermarket. I never had any issue or problem with this location except today. I purchased many items including the sale on Haagen-Daz ice cream bar; the advertised price for this was $2.78 as Just for U item. When I went through the self-check out counter, it registered as $3.50 so I asked the staff (Rodriquez) why its different. His answer was I dont know and I asked if he can adjust the price. He answered no without any further explanation. At this point, I asked for refund and he said he cannot do it at the self-check and that I need to go to the customer service counter. I went there and waited for at least 5-10 min and no one came. I went back to the self-check counter and request to speak to the manager. That same staff (Rodriquez) finally told me he is the manager, then I ask if he can help me at the customer service counter. He answered no and said he cannot leave the self-check out counter. At this point, Im beyond frustration. As I walk out, he yell out have a nice day. I believe that was a sarcastic remark. Im a 60+ y.o Asian woman and Rodriquez just brush me off cause of my ethnicity. If I was a white woman/man, this whole incidence would ended verydifferently. I truly believed Rodriguez would handle this in a different manner if the customer is white woman/man. This is no longer a money issue but rather a discrimination issue. To many Asian out there who had been discriminated due to COVID-19, I feel your pain. We cannot stay silence; please share your experience so we can be heard. I apologized for this long post and I will continue to share my experience to as many people/social media sites as I can.To Safeway Officers--do you know your managers?

A lot of the employees are really nice and are willing to help out as needed so props for that. Unfortunately, the same employees generally seem to be untrained for how to use JustforU, make discounts for sales, ringing up flowers from the floral department, etc. It always becomes a chain of calling one staffer to the next to find out who knows about the sales going on or how to write a raincheck.

I do my best shopping at this Safeway. Why? Because everyone is so nice. Cashiers, baggers, produce folks, florist, bakers, butchers and managers are all always eager to please. Its always clean inside and aisle ways are never a safety hazard. US bank associates are always helpful and Safeway employed Starbucks baristas are competent in delivering a good cup of Joe. Products are top notch and priced reasonably. Theres plenty of parking and plenty of shopping carts to use. It is easily visible from the main street. I recommend this Safeway store.

I am writing this review to thank Ms. Rita who works in the bakery dept of the store. She is one amazing employee that makes the store worth the visit. Safeway manager, please read up! Here is my story.I had ordered a cake at popular local bakery. In a hurry to rush back to work I forgot to tell them to put Happy Birthday message on it. When picked up the cake, I realized my blunder. I requested to write it and they said, its too late and they were actually running out of that edible cream required to write. I was in state of panic as it was getting late to bring cake home for surprise party. Without name on the cake, it would become a disaster. On the way home, I thought of stopping by our neighborhood Safeway and trying my luck and talking to some bakery employee and seek help with the situation. I explained Rita what happened and very calmly she said No problem! We can fix this. That was such a moment of relief for me. I was sooo pleased with her friendly and soothing voice. Without she helping me put the birthday message on the cake, I was sure to become the party-pooper that night. She put the message on the cake in just two minutes and saved my night...Thanks a TON RITA! You are awesome!!!!! I owe this to you.

Typical for a Safeway, however, there are a LOT of transients (parking lot, seated at the outdoor tables in front, etc). I typically avoid this location after 5pm since the store does nothing about the c transients, and they get aggressive after dark (panhandling, peering into parked cars, etc).

I come here often ...the staff is always on a break or worry that they will not get thete breaks ...long lines, any small purchase becomes a project....dont come here ic you are not planning on spending a lot of time.

I was there at 11 AM and I was told they are at lunch and they wont come back before 12 or 12:30 PM.They did not announce these hours for western Union services.

Like the products available in the store, but we have to wait more than than ten minutes even during less crowds. Not much staff to help the customer service
