The Safeway at the corner of South McDowell Blvd and East Washington Street is one of the best Safeway I have visited recently. The store is immaculate and organized. The workers are super attentive. We are here to purchase more supplies for our camping trip. But one of the items we cant find in the store. I talked to a young gentleman who was working on the floor restocking. He goes above and beyond to help me with the item I want. Excellent good customer service they have in this store. This store is perfect for the five-star review.

Do not come to this store it was the worst experience of my life. Workers kept following me and my husband around and racially profiling us. We looked at a few items in store and accused us of stealing. They said we were caught on camera but when we asked to see the surveillance camera they denied. There were boxes everywhere and I could have tripped and it could have ended badly. We did not want to cause problems and left. We saw not one but two rats walking around the store. I bought a few items and when I opened it there was mold not only in the food but growing in the bag.

I shop here regularly as I did in other Safeways in cities Ive lived throughout California. Most are ok, but I really like this one in Petaluma. It is big, has a Pharmacy, a good selection of items and clean. Going on a Friday eve was not the best idea. The Seafood counter was closed and minimal checkouts. This was approx. 7:30PM, maybe a fluke but was disappointed. I really dont know how much you actually save with the members card.It is in a good location, lots of other stores in that mall and surrounding malls. Its true what they say, dont food shop when youre hungry.

The flower department miss Jaime was talented amazing Artist, she helped us choose and plan for a big event, the result was beautiful, and memorable. Still after two weeks our flowers are doing well with basic maintenance.thank you for your patience and care.

Many RUDE STAFF MEMBERS that treat customers like they’re dirt. I’ve had countless encounters with rude mean staff members and will never go back again! As a family that spends roughly $2,500 there every month you would think my business mattered. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere!SAFEWAY STAFF SUCKS.

Employees are rude and customers are harassed for money at the automatic doors when they enter and/or leave the store. not a friendly grocery store more like overpriced money pit. Do yourself a favor and save yourself some time and money and just go across the street to the Raileys grocery store instead

Great quality food and excellent staff. Store is conveniently located, ample parking. Prices are above competitors for many items yet if one is diligent there are a handful of loss leaders which make it worthwhile to stop in and take advantage.

Store was going to close at 5pm, I arrived at 4:48pm on Dec 25. An employee stood at the door. And before I could ask anything or get any closer, she started to speak to me in a very rude manner that she wasnt going to allow me in, and was blocking my path with her arms wide open. I am doing this 1 star review because of the way I, as a customer was treated. Customers should be treated nicely even if the employee is having a bad day.

Ive been in here twice and both times have been nightmares. I was in at one point buying some produce, and I didnt have a safeway phone number at that time, the cashier shamed me for not having one. She loudly reprimanded me in front of other customers saying that I was just cheating myself out of money, and after loudly chastising me for at least 3 minutes she turned me to the pay pad, and before I could enter my answers for the survey on the pin pad the cashier waved me away turned the pad around and gave herself a full score. I didnt say anything at the time as I had just gotten off of work and was near tears at this point. Her attitude and way she treats customers is just disgusting.

What can I say? It is a grocery store that has almost everything you need. It has plenty of parking for handicap as well as others. They keep their shelves pretty well stocked, If they dont happen to have something in stock, theyre willing to track it down or order it for you. Most of the personnel are more than willing to help find things in the Isles. During busy times, the personal might not have time to help, but they will eventually get to you.

I stopped in three to four times a week on the way home from work. I tried for about an hour and a half give or take okay the restrooms are the worst smelling and kept up in the world. The creamer and half-and-half are always push so far back I cant reach it I have to walk in the back of the fridge and get my own standing on a milk crate. Photos to prove attached. Management could not care less. They sit in the little office with the door closed. Hiding? Hmmmmmm. This review has been added to as the keep getting worse!

This is really the only rating you could give this place; let us begin our experience outside and conclude at check out.In the parking lot, youll find no fewer than three seemingly abandon cars filled with garbage, a sort of foreshadowing of what awaits you inside.Next youll need a cart, the selection of which I would describe as semi-operable at best, though many seem to be inert.Once inside, youll think this is just like any store. the second star I offered this review is a bone tossed for the location being mostly always stocked - however, that is the only luxury youll find here.There may as well be zero employees, in fact, I would argue that a better experience would be to remove all check stands and opt for exclusively self-check out - you wont find a more surly and uninterested group of employees anywhere else in the universe.I cant count on both my hands how many times Ive witnessed a checker plainly argue with their manager about wanting a break in front of a massive line of customers and then indignantly carry on checking you out with barely a word. Customer service died in this building.I would recommend waiting to use the restroom until youve arrived back home. The one here is covered in graffiti and the appliances are kicked and tentatively connected to the walls.Spend the extra coin and go to Whole Foods.

This Safeway in Petaluma is so different from the smaller one in Santa Cruz that I had been shopping at before moving. I love it! Its really big and if you go early in the day you can find almost everything you need. I will definitely keep shopping there. They also have a wonderful customer service desk where you can get money orders and more. It is my new one stop shopping place. UPDATE 7/22 Still loving Safeway UPDATE 7/23 Things are getting back to normal because today I found everything that I needed. Thanks Safeway!UPDATE 2/24 Still shopping at Safeway and loving it. I now know where everything is and its a pleasure to shop there. 4/24 Still shopping at Safeway and love it. The people in Petaluma are so nice and friendly. 🙂

I just spent 1.5 hr waiting in line at the grocery store because the cashier could not figure out how to return an item I just bought. The manager Ricardo tried to help, but, he could not figure the system out either. I was incredibly polite, and yet not one person said sorry for wasting so much of my time. I even had a 10 % off coupon and then at the end, they said they lost it and would not honor it. Worst grocery experience of my life! Wish I had kept the receipt with her name 😠

I shop at your store on a regular basis because it is close to my home. I usually do self check out so that I do not need to interact with your RUDE clerks. Unfortunately, I had the need to go through one of your checkstands today, as I was purchasing alcohol. It just reaffirmed how rude your employees. After my encounter today, I will be going a bit out of my way to shop at the local Raleys store where their employees are more pleasant and give the impression that they are happy to be working.

Absolutely disgusting store. Poorly maintained and filthy dogs allowed in shopping carts nearly every visit -- where our toddlers sit, exposing them to fecal and other (staph) bacteria. Not good. Management refuses to fix despite several requests.We now happily shop at Raleys, which has clear signage and enforces Calif. Health Code.

I really like the Safeway on Sonoma Mountain Parkway. Previously a G&G market, it is VERY clean, well stocked and has some items you just dont see at other Safeway stores. Deli and freshly prepared items show depth in choice and fine quality, much of it very reasonably priced. Winner!

I come every few weeks to buy candy and soda for myself. Good selection of different types of candy, drinks and other snacks. They also have really good pre-packaged sushi thats great to have if youre on a budget or on the go. The checkout lines can be a bit long, though since I usually only have one or two items, I just use self-checkout which only takes about 30 seconds if you know what youre doing.

Deli specific:20 min to 7 pm call about what time the deli closes. We close at 7pm ok great I would like to order a sandwich and pick up in 5 or ? We’re closed. Huh? It’s convenient in location. As good as Safeway can be. They lack products many times—especially what is on sale. People often steal from here with what seems like no concern or consequence. Some staff are decent & others unkind.People at the pharmacy are a complete joke. I’ve never met such unhelpful people. Go elsewhere for pharmacy needs and stick to grocery shopping only.

Its a pretty average Safeway location; the store is kept clean and well stocked. It is usually busy anytime I go here, but never so much so as to be a significant inconvenience. Its an easy spot to stop into for groceries, and they always have what I need.

Store is great, produce dept fresh and well stocked. Got there at 10:30 Saturday am and there was not one piece of meat in the specialty meat display! They finally started rolling racks out of the cooler about 11:15. Ridiculous. Seafood counter was well stocked and looked really good.

I am disappointed. I am a client of the pastry shop. I always order my cakes there. And I just ordered a cake for today 11/01/2020 a very special day because it is my grandmothers birthday. And I am disappointed that there is no cake for her. because they dont know what happened to my order. How do they explain to me that I am going to arrive and tell her grandmother today that you are 79 years old, I dont have cake for you. How?😭😭😭I want to talk to someone from Safeway because today 04/19/2023 I suffered racism in one of their branches. for which I called the police to file a report for me and my husband. I am a 6 week pregnant woman. which my pregnancy is high risk. At night I went to buy some things with my husband, for which we grabbed what we needed but he gave me the need to go to the bathroom. to which I told my husband to wait for me outside the bathroom with things. to which a Safeway worker snatched my husbands things from his hand and asked him if he wanted to steal them. My husband does not speak English and she, by force of hers, wanted my husband to answer him in English because she assured that my husband did speak English. she started arguing with me and said we wanted to steal things

Love this Safeway mostlyIt has great produce 99% of the time. Lots of Organic produce as well.Good meat department with most cuts available all the time. A large seafood bar and sales often running on multiple items. About the only thing hard to find here is flank steak.A good pharmacy, which is usually fairly efficient, however staff turns over often in that department.It would be great if they had longer hours and more insurance plan knowledge.Most of the cashiers are especially friendly and pleasant and make it a point to check in with you.One or two could use some people skills.Floral department is always full of beautiful fresh offerings. They have nice gift selections and tons of balloons available tooBakery keeps up with sales on sugary options and delicious breads. Their custom work varies dependent who you get behind the counter. Some folks are just more artistic than others.There is a Starbucks in the front of the store, with the usual menu offerings. Young staff that changes often, but the coffee is always good.Restrooms also in front of the store, most of the time well kept.The deli department could definitely do with some better management. They often have old dry over cooked chicken strips, that should be pitched still out for sale and they also run out of chicken strips and potatoes about half the timeThe two things that this store has that keep me from a five star review are .. They discontinue things too often, things that I now go to a competitor to buy.Bad business practice.The other is, they often hassle over a check from someone who has literally written them thousands over four decades, with NEVER a single problem. Granted my checks are often over $500, but seriously they need a loyalty card or something so I dont get constantly hassled.One cashier, Debbie, makes up for it with her sunny and encouraging friendly banter. If not for her, I might just shop around.

So many of the staff are unhappy at work. I think they may be in an union that push them. I dont know. They are helpful and do their jobs. Some grocery stores in town have happy, cheerful employees. I believe the management at Safeway is hard core. The employees blame them instead of making minor decisions on their own. They blame management for their bad moods too. If they have a good sale. I will shop there.

As far as Safeways go, this one is pretty nice. Its the flagship store of the district so its big and well stocked. A lot of good products and a lot of really fantastic bargains. Make sure to combine the coupons and five dollar Friday deals with your Safeway Club Card discounts. You can really rack up some great savings that way.

I just moved to Petaluma and this is a gorgeous store. Much higher quality produce, better displays and the prices are a bit lower.The store is clean and overall its a great shopping experience.The checkers could be more friendly, which is why Im giving it just 4 stars, also there was a fairly young woman, probably in her 50s, not wearing a mask in the store which was so bizzare.

Overall, this is a very good grocery store. the employees are the real stars here, as they work around Safeway policy to try and help us all get the food and goods we need. Im really happy with their selection of organic produce, they always have everything in stock and at a lower price than WF or even sprouts sometimes. I really like being able to get what I want here, and not settle for just whats in stock like I have to another grocery stores. I like the promotional pricing and $5 Friday deals. I love that they have a full-service grocery store with all the departments staffed and pretty knowledgeable people in those departments. Whenever I ask for help at this Safeway I almost always get someone who knows what they are talking about, or they are happy to go and find someone who knows what theyre talking about.

Great store with great service. The reason for 3 stars is every night I go in around 8:30 and they close the doors next to self checkout. This is because the alcohol is on that side of the store. It is a giant pain in the butt when I park next to self checkout and then have to walk all the way to the other side of the store just to get out. They obviously didnt think it through all the way. They need to move self-checkout or the alcohol to the other side of the store.

At the Breakfast Deli I waited over 25 mins., while the employee talked & talked to the person he was helping.2 nice women let me go in front of them while my Boss was waiting for me. Good sandwich and because Im a Safeway club member, my next one will be free. Plenty of parking at this Safeway and easy to get in and out of the shopping center. This store has a full sized deli with as Sushi counter in addition to the regular deli counter and hot case. Their bakery is also much bigger than average, as is the Starbucks (which has additional seating). Self checkout lanes are also appreciated. All in all a great Safeway.

So let me start off by saying, I have never had a problem with Safeway in my entire life, I’ve always had great customer service. Well tonight that all changed, I called ahead before driving over, to see if they happen to by some miracle of a chance have the non existent Toilet Paper that no one can find or as soon as it gets stocked it gets sold out. So tonight, the young lady at customer service picks up, I tell her I’m looking for TP, she laughs, I laugh, she hangs up!!!! Not an I’m sorry we are out right now. Not a we should be getting a truck delivery on a certain day. Just hangs up the phone! Rude!! I get that you probably get this call 10,000 times a day, but you don’t hang up on the customer! I shop at this Safeway all the time. For the most part it’s a Pleasant place to shop. I had A few bad experiences with a cashier named Alla. She is mean and very rude!!! She tells you what you can and can’t do. You need to stand exactly where she says and do everything she tells you!! If you ask people that shop at this store they try to avoid her at all costs. It’s always a pain to get out of this store. They never have enough cashiers so lines are really long. I hope they do something about Alla.

The two stars are a beyond 5 star for Will who went out of his way to help me. It was a reduced to a 2 star because of how awful the rest of the team did, including the customer service! Plus there are no clear markers to help customers know which line leads to Which register.. it is not even remotely clear. Im trying to give everyone an extra pass right now because of covid challenges, but honestly it only thing that made my trip here this evening good was Will. They pretty much sell every grocery item I need. I like being able to get 1 stop shopping whenever possible. Also enjoy their Delivery service which is free if you dont care what time you recieve your order. Or up to $6.00 if u need within a 2hr window the next day; ? $4.00 if between 4hr window. They are always on time and friendly.

I bought a container of nonfat greek yogurt here the Lucerne brand. I ate it and the next day I was sick. I checked the date on the yogurt and it was expired. Idk if i got sick because of the yogurt but idk what else it could have been that made my stomach hurt so bad.

This Safeway has many tables and a counter where you may relax and eat, and charge your phone! The restrooms are also located right there in the front of the store, too. They always have yummy samples of their baked goods in the bakery department, in the late afternoon. This is a large store, always bright and clean, with lots of salads, soups, and breakfast available from 6:00am to 11:00am. I think it s the BEST Safeway, with helpful, friendly, and kind staff.

Idk if its a 3 or a 4 star. Havent shopped Safeway for years. They have the biggest aisles but all the same brands. For instance a whole half aisle of coffee but its all Starbucks, Peets and O organics. Dave with soup or canned beans. All the well known brands and tons of them. I would like to see more local and organic items.

The customer at this location has really gone down hill. I forgot something and asked a courtesy clerk to get it for me, I got eye rolling and disgruntled looks from both the cashier and the courtesy clerk. The courtesy clerk tried to pretend she wouldnt be able to get it or pick it up. I tried to tell the Cashier to forget it but she told me what I had witnessed did not happen and that it was not a problem when clearly it was. again i asked her not to get the item but they forced me to endure their attitudes where the only compensation was a piece of chocolate I neither wanted or asked for.

Especially Tillamook and Umpqua ice creams and Strauss milk.No pretenses, its a mainstream grocery store.BEWARE of one thing: DEPOSIT on Strauss dairy bottles has gone UP to $2.50, BUT THE CREDIT FOR RETURNS IS STILL $2.00. I have talked with Customer Assistance and cashiers, but no change after 3-4 WEEKS. If you mention it, they will correct it / refund but you have to ask.[Probably the same at all Safeways]

Went in for just a couple of things. An item on a high shelf was too high to reach ( Im nearly 6). It was near closing time but not that close. I couldnt find any employee in the store to get the item so I took my items to check out and asked the clerk to call someone since the item was not far away at all. She moaned and said no one here because its almost 9 and time to close - sorry. Customers were still going in when I left. Service at Safeway has become horrible. Lucky for me Safeway had just what I was looking for and I didnt even know what that was. I went in to use my banks ATM. As I was headed out I spotted the most amazing cherry. That just took me into produce and wonderful sweet peaches and a couple of carrots. Something for me and seething as a treat for the Goat I take care of at the Animal Shelter. Seems that Safeway had everything I needed before I knew I needed it. Thank you Safeway.

Shopping here is a nightmare. The aisles are barely wide enough to fit 2 carts in, and there ARE multiple stacks of products and displays in EVERY one. Every time I shop here I have to plan for enough time to stand in line for 10 to 15 minutes because they never schedule enough cashiers to handle the business. Come on Safeway / Albertsons... The Petaluma Safeway is great. They are well stocked very clean convenient and friendly. They have a lot of locally grown produce and a wonderful Organics selection. There is outside seating for the deli and the Starbucks and its a beautiful store. Just a pleasent place to shop

My group came in for sandwiches so we needed about 7 before we hit the river. I came in in a very good mood until I met KATHY. My friend and I were helped after waiting 10 minutes in line. Yes Kathy is slow but that wasnt the problem. We were in a huge rush since there was 2 of us in line (my friend and I) I asked Kathy if she could get started on the other sandwiches but she said something under her breath when I respectfully asked letting her know we had to go. She told me she had to help the next customer leaving the other sandwiches maker to make all the sandwiches. Took 30 minutes!! She could have just helped us get out of there before moving in. I havent been in Safeway for months and dont plan to ever return. Within two blocks I can go to Trader Joes, Raleys, Smart & Final and the Tuesday Farmers Market. I refuse to support a corporation that bullies, and forces themselves (and their gas station) on people who dont want it in their neighborhood. Safeway apparently considers their profit more important than the health of the people living in the neighborhood who will be exposed to increased traffic, fumes from cars waiting in line, and fuel delivery trucks who will access the station by way of the street immediately in front of a nursery school. I also cant imagine that anyones property value will be increased by the addition of a giant gas station across the street from their home. So, babies health or Safeways profit?? Clearly Safeway has decided.

My review is a bit skewed. Overall the Safeway is like most other Safeways—it has been remodeled recently so the setting is what youd expect.The issues I have with this particular Safeway is its the only Safeway in Petaluma, so its usually really crowded. Especially the parking lot—always a bit of a challenge to get parked.Also, the pharmacy is a mess. Theres always a line...on average Ive waited 20-30 minutes each time Ive been (3 times). I feel sorry for the pharmacist, poor guy is overloaded every time I go. Thats the other problem with only one Safeway in Petaluma.
