The security guard who is present in the evening is extremely rude and unprofessional. I have had akward encounters with him on more than one occasion. This evening when I walked in at 11:40, he said “you have four minutes, so you need to hurry up”. I spend a couple hundred dollars each week at this this. But his presence alone, makes me never want to come again.

Pretty solid crew. If they can tell you’ve had a long day they don’t really bother you none at check out. It’s a chill vibe, solid when it need to be very intuitive. Departments are strong. You could shop somewhere else, but it’s a good one.

Pretty good organization, easy to find stuff, good options, decent prices, great service, easy parking. Good for fresh fruits, guac, salsa, some pastries if youre hosting and got no time to prep!Nice they added a self checkout line. Make sure to look at how much stuff people have in the self check line. The standard line could be faster in some cases. Going earlier in the week seems best as far as stock.

Only at need! They never have what you want. The staff is apologetic but unhelpful. The deli-counter is simply awful, constantly understaffed and no-one crossed trained to help when the line is long and never a manager or supervisor available to assist. In the past 25 years they have gone from decent and convenient to an irritation to be avoided unless in dire need.

This little Safeway was always one that I avoided, but Ive been here a couple of times since they remodeled and its surprisingly very nice. Much much cleaner than before, very clean. Well organized and well stocked. Your staff is pleasant enough for not overly so like the Safeway on Alameda or in Piedmont.Its just very small, kind of cramped, and no self-checkout kiosks which during these times is quite important.

Convenient location next to my sons University so its perfect for him and us when we visit. The layout is slightly different. Products are ethnically diverse now offering a large variety of options. Parking seems adequate but quickly runs out since the area has been remodeled adding more stores and restaurants. They get a lot of walk in students so packaged products are sized in smaller quantities catering to them as well. Its a grocery store thats always busy.

As far as grocery stores go, this one is above average. The store is typically clean and has sufficient stock on the shelves. You can usually find what you need and check out in about 15-20min. Plus, now they have some new self-check stands by the front. The staff in the deli is top notch. The make great sandwiches and put up with a lot of guff from rude patrons. Patrick is the All-Star checker at this store. He’s always upbeat and makes everyone feel welcome. This store doesn’t stock any hard liquor, but that’s about all they don’t have on the shelves.

The store itself was much smaller than I expected! I was walking shoulder-to-shoulder with other shoppers. The selection of goods was great, though; I found everything I needed. Too bad the parking lot is structured like stairs... Hiking up to the building then maneuvering your shopping cart to your car down the hill may be a challenge.

This location is SO SMALL its difficult to have 2 carts in the same aisle at the same time. they can hardly keep the shelves stocked to keep up with the demand. always great customer service though, which helps lessen the frustration of shopping this location. seems great if its your neighborhood to grab last minute groceries, but any major shopping needs should be done at a larger less congested location.

This is my neighborhood grocery store. I go hear pretty much once per week. The isles are really small and they dont have a bakery. They dont seem to stock items very well and with COVID the lines can be confusing but the employees are nice and that means a lot to me.

This is my favorite grocery store west of the Mississippi. The employees are all really nice and so so helpful. Its usually quite mellow in this store as well, except during the evening hours when just about everything in Oakland is pretty busy. This Safeway also has a very good variety of foods for people with restrictive diets, such as gluten free, vegan & vegetarian and so many others. Plus just like the Fruitville Safeway, they have all the same things on sale. So just because the neighborhood is high end doesnt mean the prices are.

I was very disappointed at the Safeway on Redwood road. Everything I wanted werent available and the stocker werent helpful. My grandson only with eat two flavors of yogurt ( vanilla and orange cream). The selection of ice cream were limited.I know that store is small and probably one of the older one. I am surprised they have not try to expand it.

Easy to get there. Parking can be a bit tricky. I was craving donuts and try to get some.... but all the donuts are paired up in a bag instead of letting me pick and chose. Otherwise its a nice store and well stock in general.

I drive about an addition mile or two just to come to this store. Not only the best store near my area but by far the greatest Safeway I ever been to! Every employee I encpuntered do far always smiles and greets, the cashier actually socializes while scanning, and the shelves are stocked. People are actually working..... And the lines always move fast. I could go on and on.

Nice neighborhood Safeway, a bit small and crowded customers arent following the social distancing protocol. One woman reached in the cooler as I was picking up items, just ridiculous. Customer service and environment is pretty good.. Just be careful how you park?. The Safeway delivery rig hit my car. Because of the tight space in the parking lot. And although their insurer has accepted liability, they are taking forever. AKA over a year to come out and look at my vehicle that they hit. Their insurer is Sedgwick. So please beware and careful how you park In their lot.

I have always been going to safeway. Safeway has always been a good store, support those who are working at helping to find things, good products, those who are working are doing a great job for customers. My only concern I have come to is the rise in money. I was really surprised about the rise and and concerned for many people, especially elders who may not be able to have help for them, and I hope all those who are doing all the work will.have fair payments.

This is a friendly Safeway. Its a small one but has everything you need.I like it because It has a friendly atmosphere. Its located right off of highway 13, and in the same lot, there are a couple of places to eat, pizza, Chinese, and the best hamburgers yum! CVS pharmacy.

We occasionally shop at this Safeway on Redwood because of its close proximity to our home and our experience has always been positive but today the butcher behind the meat counter went out of his way to provide service over and above any chain grocery store. I ask the butcher for 5 bone in New York steak. He said sure but instead of just getting the steaks, he ask if he could package them together as a value pack to save me some money. I said sure, and then he said you can save more with a coupon and then walked to the front of the store to grab me an store Ad coupon for me. Real Service !

Old, outdated building, selection is minimal half of what they have at other stores, parking is horrible. If you want to say, its a really nice corner market on the bottom of the hill. But, compared to other Safeways, corporate must have forgot about this place. Butchers are rude and dont want to offer any services like other Safeways. I come here for chicken as they have the best price that I have found. The parking is sufficient. The isles are narrow and hard to navigate when there are others shopping. The checkout lines are ALWAYS long. Make sure that you have at least 30 minutes even if you only need 2 things.

The people who work here are great, friendly and very helpful. That is the ONLY reason I gave two stars. Otherwise, this place is awful. Horrible selection, they dont stock some of the most basic items. Like chicken thighs. Is this an exotic, specialty item? Because they dont carry it. And forget about calling -- no joke, I was on hold for over 10 minutes before I gave up.

Workers in the deli are rude. Their chicken pieces are always over cooked. Last week the chicken pieces were burned and dry hard . They were pre packed in a box. Very disappointed when you opened it at home just for dinner. I wont come back here again. Another time a safeway worker at this store stopped me on my way out and asked me to show him my receipt. Wow, thats absolutely an insult. I refused and demanded to see His manager. Another worker came right after to stop him. What a shame! I have been shopping here for more than 10 years!

I got there around 7, and one side of the entrance was closed already.I found what i need and the store is neat, but they only had 3 lanes open at peak hrs... What kind of place only opens three line after work hours??? The lines where long.!!! Not only that, the line was held up for 5 mins because one lady got the wrong milk for her coupon, so she walked over to find the right one!!It was very frustrating, i only had one item, there wasnt even an express lane.

Dont go here if youre vegan or plant based... this location has the least options of any Safeway Ive been to in Oakland/ Alameda/ San Leandro areasAny items that are vegan would be nice. Amys has many plant based meals, other ice cream flavors (Ive been there many times in the last month and I want a dairy free ice cream that doesnt have peanut butter-there are 4 different peanut butter varieties, cherry garcia, and thats it), Gardein options would be nice, anything is better than nothing.

Probably my least favorite Safeway in the neighborhood. Its small and cramped aisles, limited options and always out of basic staple supermarket inventory items it seems. Its still Safeway so it doesnt go under basic level of quality. If you have the time though, do yourself a favor and go to the Emeryville pak n save safeway

This has got to be one of the worst Safeway around. I drive past it to do serious shopping. The selection is poor, the staff is minimal, and the average wait time is horrendous. I usually choose to go to Farmer Joes, Lucky, or even all the way to Whole Foods if I really want something. Been disappointed too many times.

This Safeway is super handy for nearby residents. However, the parking lot is one of the worst Ive ever used. Its built on a terraced hill; you can actually lose your cart over a cliff if you dont hold on to it!The store is small, so dont count on it having everything you might want.They are currently (11/2/2016) remodeling, so things may be changing.There are two other Safeways, one in the Dimond and one in Montclair that are somewhat nearby. The Lucky in Montclair is a very good alternative.
