One of my favorite go to Safeways. It’s just simply beautiful and amazing. Safeway is and always will be my favorite grocery store. Also the employees are simply so sweet and kind it makes me want to cry 😢♥️😭😂

I love this Safeway, but I couldnt believe the discusting behavior and disrespect from an employee named shawn. Ive never worked a store power wheelchair before, and my disabled veteran client needed to use one. I found the nearest employee and asked him to show me how to operate it, and his response was rude disrespectful. He spoke to me like I was stupid for not automatically understanding something Ive never encountered before. Do better Shawn.

This Safeway is laid out like a Costco so you have to walk through the entire store to get a three item shopping list, combined with one of, if not the most miserable grocery store parking lot in the county, I always try to shop elsewhere.

Never coming back.Scanned things ring up wrong, prices on the app never work after clipping and moving over to cart or whatever. It seems like meat is always just on the verge of expiring and only lasts a day in my fridge, Ive had to return meat so many times to this place. Gave them my business one last time tonight but sadly... never again...

The older woman making the deli sandwiches...her name was Marie or Maria...was extremely rude and unprofessional to my mother & I. She saw we were standing there waiting to be helped and completely ignored us, had us waiting there for 15 minutes while she hid & talked to other staff behind the counters, making eye contact every now and then so she was blatantly ignoring us. When she finally helped us she yelled at us, threw all the ingredients together messily, and SQUISHED our sandwiches down over and over again after wrapping them up. Who does that?? We asked why she was treating us so badly and she started yelling like a crazy person and we had to walk away. Terrible terrible person :/

Good hot & cold case, good Chinese. I like using the app & finding better deals than avail in the store, clip my coupons & then shop🙂 Today found a cute stuffed animal that unzips with a super soft blanket in it for our little one. Its a pretty good Safeway. Its clean and the parking isnt bad. If you look at the Flyers and sign up for their card you can download their deals to your phone. Im most the only go there for the $5 Friday specials.

This is the best Safeway I have ever been to, and it has replaced Raleys as my primary grocery store. The reason why this Safeway is so much better than average is because the Safeway company wisely retained many of the beloved attributes that made G&G special. The family-owned store previously at that location. Try the Chinese food. Youll know what Im talking about 😉

The Safeway on College Avenue cannot be beat with its variety of products. It is unique in the Safeway chain of stores with its array of products that are in the tradition of the Gong family. The staff is very friendly, the hot Chinese food is excellent, the bouquets of flowers are beautiful, and the deli has great sandwiches with quality meats that have always been at this location for years. Come here to get the exact type of product you are looking for.

What can I say. I shop at the Safeway in Santa Rosa on college avenue. It is okay. It is clean and well cared for. I don’t think it is the best at any particular thing. Over the last year I have noticed a slow decline in the number of premium products in the dairy area. In general you get a good value and a wide variety of products to choose from. I am not a fan of the self check out. The parking lot layout is pretty bad.

Changes recently made in the checkout process make it very difficult to tell if you are being charged the correct amount for sale and coupon items. We have to stand in the store and carefully review the receipt to verify. Feels dishonest, hoping you wont catch them charging too much for items.

The only disappointment on my last visit was that there wasnt enough fresh fruit and veggies on hand and a lot was either spoiled or on the verge of spoiling like the tomatoes, celery, and cucumbers, head of lettuce to name a few.

It is just a habit to go to Safeway for my groceries but the produce is sub-par and the prices are out of control these days. It is only sometimes worth it if you get the app and add every coupon and deal available and be sure to use your rewards points on grocery freebies instead of fuel at the gas station.

As Safeway Stores go, this is about as good as they get. Of course, thats probably because it started out as a privately run local grocery store.The store was remodeled a few years ago under the previous ownership and it still shows. The aisles are large. The lighting is great. The produce department is immense and well kept. The parking lot is clean but could use better lighting.The store was once known for its butcher shop-like meat department as well as its deli that included very authentic Chinese food options. Although these areas have slipped a bit since the sale, they are still great.The customer service was and still is exceptional. Employees treat customers as guests.There is a second Safeway store not far from this location but the parking here is better and the store experience is 100% better.

Well organized store with attractive displays and good variety. Can be a bit pricey on many items and lines were quite long.update: self checkout seems to be a quick option and lines are definitely shorter now. Sometimes it is very difficult to find desired items and store assistance is hard to locate.

I recently moved my business to w college and began frequenting this store. I want to give this store and their crew a huge congrats on how AMAZING this store looked on Thanksgiving week. Shelves were fully stocked and front faced, very clean, help available and even management walking the floor to help. I was impressed! I grew up a Safeway kid my dad was a manager forever, I worked at Safeway for over a decade and kudos to you all I understand the hard work it takes, you never know how the load is going to arrive, shorts firm outs etc and this store has it down. Thanks everyone for an easy shopping trip!

It’s still G&G. I went up on the hill and got the Krab salad at Lucky and almost threw up. Don’t bother with the competition. This is the ONLY place in town to get GG Krab Salad. They still have all the G&G stuff and they’ve been Safeway for a long time. I drive across town to shop at this one. Still the best supermarket in town.

I absolutely love this Safeway. It’s clean and has plenty of space and product and the freshest produce and deli around but it saddens me that their bakery has gone downhill. Every time I try order anything from the bakery their prices never match every other Safeway in the area. It seems like they make their own pricing and rules not to mention to rude clerks. It’s really a shame to have to go to a whole different store just for my baked goods and birthday cakes. I can’t even pick up fresh cookies or breakfast items without fear of them being stale. Cookies that were just baked the day before are hard as a rock and stale like they were baked and sat on a rack and then dated with that packaged date not the actual baked date. It saddens me because this Safeway has by far some of the best cake decorators around. Sammy and Lupe are so talented but again I can’t see myself paying more than what things are advertised for.

The staff is pretty cool. It is a huge store so maintaining the 6 foot rule is doable. I dont feel like Im confined or have to wait until others pass me to grab the milk or frozen okra. Easy spam picking and wonderful buttwipes.

I love this Safeway. It is only a few minutes from my home. My husband and are regular shoppers and love the open space to shop. We find what we are looking for and enjoy the variety of items to choose from. The cashiers are so kind. We love the sales ($5 Friday) and just 4 u items, not to forget free items here and there today was a donut with min $5 purchase. Yes! Thank you..

I have not been in this particular Safeway in quite some time. I was shocked to see how completely transformed it is. It even has a wine bar in there so you can taste wines before purchase (I dont drink, but when my sister visited almost a decade ago she was tickled to see a wine bar in Whole Foods).I used to prefer Safeway on Mendocino, but after I found myself being followed around a little too often by the stores manager, and the newest pharmacist being unhelpful I dropped them like a bad habit.

This is my favorite Safeway in Santa Rosa: large and always have a large stock of items. If I ever doubt that I may not fine something at a Safeway, I will go to this one because it has more options and more stock. Largest wine department with what appears to be a wine tasting area, but Ive never seen them use it. Two sets of bathrooms: one on each side of the store (always Clean) Isles are roomy and Im not bumping into anyone. Self checkout is available for quick grocery shopping trips. Starbucks is include in the store and is practically a separate store inside the Safeway: it is not a kiosk and it has its own entrance from outside.

I was expecting the worst this Mothers Day, buying flowers last minute... at Safeway. Luckily I didnt have to wait too long as the staff were getting through customers pretty quickly. Olivia in the floral dept was very helpful and professional. She made me a really beautiful bouquet and helped pick out the best balloons aesthetically. I would buy flowers from Safeway again.

The only reason that I did not give all 5 stars was due to lines being a little bit long but I didnt mind at all. I was impressed because the LINES moved VERY FAST.A big reason for the line being long, was the recycling center that is located in the opposite corner of the parking lot- Safeway redeems the vouchers for cash, so they have a steady flow of people during the recycling hours.Again, the line was quick and I applaud the fact that they are environmentally aware and taking action👏👏👏

As this is now a Safeway it is better than most of them in product selection alone. Its got plenty of parking and is usually less busy than the other locations in town. Their hot bar is delicious. They have a huge cold drinks section. Just added a large wine and beer cooler near the back.

My experience at this specific grocery store was amazing! Literally its the simplest, cleanest, fastest, and safest grocery store Ive ever been to. Like the parking lot is clean and easy to park, not like the Walmart ones that are so crowded and messy. The store is pretty expensive unfortunately, but only cause of its competition around with so many grocery outlets. In conclusion this store is great and I recommend to everyone.

One of the things that really stands out for me regarding Safeway on College Avenue is how spacious and open the floor plan is. For awhile, my family was able to find some favorite products here that we couldnt find at other area Safeways, but now, this is less often the case. Two areas for improvement: more organic food, please. And please stop shelving your Party Mix in a difficult-to- reach location. Are you trying to sabotage this product?

Its good. Its organized weird since they last reorganized. They need more space so they can have all aisles the same length, instead of the 4 short rows with a row that goes the opposite direction so it also separates food aisles from the produce dept..I really like the store though. Its really close to my home, it has quite a few handicap parking places (Im disabled),and the people that work there are nice. However, there is one older checker i do try to avoid. She is very nice but she talks incessantly and loud. The thing is.... she cant really talk and work checking people out at the same time. So it takes 3 to 4 times longer to get through her line, than it does any other line. Plus. she will keep talking to the prior customer for awhile after she is done checking them out. so you just have to wait until that person can get away. Oy vey. 😉🌺

Cashiers are always slow here, I know now because of the fires they may be short staffed so opening another lane may not be an option. But other stores have a much better flow at checkout. Consistently.That being said the store has great layout of the aisles and volume of goods. So pluses and minuses.I do appreciate them being open during the fire evacuation.

Why shop here? Their app doesnt work like it use to. You cant click on an item from the ad on the app to add it to your list along with just for you. You dont get a complete paper ad any more. It is more difficult these days. They run out of sale items, then why even put it in. Safeway shopper for 30 years. First Marlow, then College Ave (old G&G, miss them). The quality of the store is in steep decline. Products frequently out of stock, discontinued being carried, mysteriously moved to other locations in store. Employees arent at fault because they bearly exist! You can literally do 400.00 worth of shopping and maybe, maybe see 2 or 3 Employees and never when you need assistance.. Seriously considering ALL the other options in Santa Rosa...The College Ave Store is particularly inept, which starts at the very top of the organizational chart..

This location could be great, BUT it has a thick odor of cooking grease floating in the air. If you go in wearing a freshly dry cleaned sweater, it will need laundered again as soon as you leave- and you might need a shower. I assume their deli kitchen doesn’t have proper exhaust fans because the smell is just as strong in the far corner of the store. Even though it does have an open layout, decent parking and rock bottom prices, it’s not worth smelling like you worked a shift at KFC to shop here.

Just moved back to town and took my son grocery shopping. My first visit to this store in several years, and since change from G&G. Nothing stands out about the store one way or another, but the womens restroom was not clean. Not going into details, but it was nasty. I wont go back to that store. This is my Safeway store. I usually shop on early Sunday mornings. Almost everything I need is now easy to find. The store employees are friendly and helpful. The food selections are top-notch. If you live close to West College Avenue, this is where you should get your groceries!

This is probably one of the most open aisled, no long lined, pleasant Safeway stores in Sonoma county. Parking is ample and its just a few blocks off Hwy 101.What I like most about the store is that it has an in-house Starbucks, where you can sit and have a breather prior to shopping- or leaving the premises. You can actually SIT DOWN, at a table no less. With your cart!Id recommend shopping here over any other Safeway in Santa Rosa.

Safeway is Safeway; except when its Albertsons. They are crowding out old standbys with their store brands. Their produce is pretty, but stick with seasonal fruits, or risk disappointment. All the grocery stores are in flux. And Safeway does a great job of staying open through wildfires and pandemics. But dont expect to be able to buy Orville Redenbachers popcorn, or Minute tapioca. That disgusting microwave popcorn has crowded out all but one brand of normal popcorn, a store brand. And everyone seems to think they have tapioca, but thats just a legend, apparently. I can talk smack about them because theyve been my store for 60 years. Update: Minute Tapioca is back, but high-end, specialty items disappear apace, to make room for store brands. Thats where the profit is, apparently. In all the streamlining, theyd do well to remember that people like a bit of interest and novelty in their grocery shopping. Were not ALL bare-bones coupon clippers.

The customer service was terrible. I was given improper prices and snapped at when i brought it to the cashiers attention. The woman was clearly having a bad day and made it a point to let it be known. When i brought it to the shift managers attention, he justified her attitude. His name was Andrew something or other. Really a LOT bigger than the outside suggests. Standard Safeway fare, but way more of it with wider aisles and--important to me--plenty of wheelchair space. This becoming a safeway has made me really miss G&G. The store is a typical safeway, the customer service isnt bad in general but the deli staff is another story. There have been multiple occasions when the customer service in the deli was way below positive. I have gone back a couple time just hoping maybe those particular employees were just having a bad day, sadly that was not the case. I will continue going to the Mendocino Ave, and Marlow Rd locations

This Safeway was a G&G market, the aisles are very wide and the store is arranged beautifully.Its clean, well stocked and has large ethnic food sections.I buy fresh dough for pizzas and I feel its comparable to Olivers quality. The bakery is your standard Safeway bakery, but they have a nice selection of cheeses and things for picnics. Their house tortilla chips are great.I dont eat meat so the butcher area is a unknown to me.Lots of self serve containers for candy, dried fruits. Nuts, ect.Wine and beer selection is good and they have a, wine tasting area with a local winery sometimes hosting. Pricing is pretty standard. Cheaper than Raleys and Olivers.

One of the biggest Safeway stores in the area, and with plentiful parking. Some minor gripes are that they still dont have a pharmacy, or even an extensive drug section (probably goes hand-in-hand). This used to be the old G&G market, and many remnants of the previous store remain, such as most of the interior and the hot Chinese food to-go. Retaining most of the old workers of G&G is worth a star alone (if thats correct).

I will probably change the rating to a higher one, but right now the stores a functional work in progress. This was a G&G market that is being converted to a Safeway, so there is still a lot of construction and finish work taking place. Once its all done and up to SWs usual standards, Ill add a star.As usual though, SW has a great selection of products, many brands, terrifc produce and do much more. Departments include a deli, bakery, floral, meat counter, and a great wine center.Customer support desk is available if youre needing assistance. Cashiers have been friendly and efficient on my visits.A Starbucks just opened inside the store as well.Large parking lot right in front for easy access. Its in a shopping center, so there are other businesses to accomplish combined errands.

The same experience this year that I had last year buying turkeys. It took 45 minutes before I got out of there. Everyone in the lines was complaining its very slow. Seems no one wants to work for $15 an hour anymore when they can sit at home and get everything paid for by the government. From a business and customer satisfaction stand point, the only improvement i would recommend is a better response time to the locked cabinets including alcohol and feminine care. Although i am one to be patient and wait 20 minutes, most others are not. Again I thank all of the w. Sad to say, in recent months Safeway has really gone downhill. Lines are long, the staff does not appear happy, and some of the specialty products are no longer available. I used to go in to look for manager special meat and seafood that had been discounted on the final sell date,, but they seem to be phasing that program out, or making the deals worse. Since I was there so frequently, I would do most of my shopping at Safeway, but I am losing my incentives and expect to switch to the local Olivers Market.
