Just left this store 21:39 only one cashier available (Geraldine) which took excellent care of me. Not sure where all your other cashiers went (on break, called in sick or walked out). This is an extremely busy store. If you want your customers to use self check out, please add us to your payroll and provide benefits. Everyone I walked past was complaining under their breath that it was crazyno help on floor.

Hey shout out to Josh. My wife did enter an order online a night before por next day pick up. I went to the pick up parking space and with less than 2 minutes Josh brought the full order with a great attitude he not only just asked if I wanted the items place in the truck of the car but also kindly asked if he can closed the gate. My hope is to keep motivating young people like Josh and that he can get all the support from all resources available at his disposal. Great customer service !!

The lady working customer service here like to waste time if she don’t like you. She said it take 15 minutes to load money in the drawer but when another customer needed change for a 100 she opened the cash office room under a minute and got the change. Thank you so much for your great and outstanding service 🙄 to all your customers.

The cake shop is closed at 7:30 pm. Please do not come to this safeway shop after 7 pm if you want to buy anything from bakery. There is nowhere bakery timing is mentioned officially but that is what store people told and suggested me to come back tom morning. Anyway I wasted my time by coming here. I am giving this feedback so that other people do not waste their time if they wish to come here to shop from bakery.

Great selection. I just found grass fed organic milk. Then I went to the in store Starbucks and bought a ceramic California themed coffee tumbler I’ve been eyeing for awhile. Self checkout worked with no annoying beeps and wait to call the cashier over for no apparent reason. Good experience!

There is long line for one open cash register almost every time I go there after 10pm or even after 11pm. The whole store is almost empty but the line is all the way into half the isle or more.

Reserved a premade Thanksgiving dinner with a 2pm pickup.After 30 minutes of waiting, searching, waiting, they finally admit they’ve run out. Don’t have our order.Andrew, the manager, was useless. He offered us a $25 “gift certificate” but then disappeared - despite the clerk paging him three times. Andrew had lots of excuses. ( Corporate, short staffing, maybe it’s in the meat department, maybe we’d like a non- spiral ham…) We just walked without our order. Shopped instead at Lucky. Last time shopping here!

We always order our birthday cakes from Safeway because they never disappoint. These last two times the bakery consultant helping me was beyond amazing. Ebony went above and beyond for us! She googled ideas for me so my daughter could have her dream flamingo birthday cake and let me tell you she did not disappoint. It was everything my daughter wanted. With things being so hard right now due to Covid Ebony’s cheerful attitude and just willingness to help was such a nice treat. Thank you Ebony for your cheerful disposition and giving my baby her dream birthday cake.

Just ran in for sour cream, (baking a Strawberry Cake, from scratch). I left with Sliced Deli Peppered Turkey, Water Crackers, Olive Tapenade and the Sour Cream, (good product placement, LOL).Deli was understaffed, with only 1 employee at 5:30p. But the gentleman was friendly and helpful.I used the self checkout and was out quickly. I will return.

How do you justify having only one register open at 5:00pm when I cant buy beer in the selfcheck and the only Checker you have open, people are lined up down the aisle right behind it. You turn a 5 minute errand into a 35 minute errand for no other reason than youre cheap bottom line.

Safeway is one of my favorite grocery stores. Especially the breads and donuts are very warm and delicious.. It is a clean, smooth place where you can find many products you are looking for, including halal meat.. only problem is that it is a bit expensive.

Over several years, Ive noticed this particular location seems to struggle with keeping their produce fresh. For example, today all 10 bags of mini cucumbers either had visible mold or were mushy to the touch. The exotic fruits are always pitiful looking, and it is rare to find any lettuce that isnt brown and damaged. Whoever stocks the produce doesnt check for freshness and throw out the rotten stuff.My advice: go to a different Safeway.

This Safeway is well managed. Never had an issue with checking out or a store being a mess.I always think of grabbing an order made sandwich, but the workers at the sandwich counter are either not there or are in the back doing something else. Wish there was a easier process.

There is a asian lady in bakery section who is very rude, uncooperative and racist. Her shift is in the evening and she has misbehaving twice with us on two different occasions. First time she misbehaved with my wife and second time she misbehaved with me. I bought a cake and ask her to write on top of the cake but she said she can’t write on top of the cake. Then I asked her to give me the cone to so that I can write on top of the cake but she said that people come here write on top of the cake by themselves, mess up the cake and don’t pay. I said I will pay first and then write. She kept me waiting for more than 10 minutes and still didn’t give me the cone to write. I had 2 year old daughter who started troubling me, that lady saw all this but was not ready to help. If store manager is reading this please talk to your employee or fire her. You will loose customers because of one rude person in your team.

Its a very typical Safeway. Easier to navigate than some, but everything is pretty much laid out in the same order as most of the other Safeways Ive visited. Its large and has a good selection of meats and vegetables.

Edit:make it 4 stars now as the cart issues have drastically reduced ever since i had posted my original review.Original:I would have given them 4 stars but had to dock it to 2 as these ppl never have carts available. Been going here for years but in last 2-3 months this has become a real problem. If you come here on the weekend, you would see people roaming outside just waiting to catch someone exiting out with a cart so that they can have their carts. This is just sad.

Recently moved in the neighborhood and this Safeway has been my go to. The late night 2 AM closing comes in clutch for night owls like me.Great deals on meat, especially chicken.Access to an Allpoint ATM and Amazon lockers is a plus. I get my shopping done in store and pick up my online shopping right there. A Wells Fargo bank is right next door too...Customer service has been excellent in this area. Grocery store associates have been friendly, efficient, and really helpful. It doesnt get too crowded at this location either.Very comfortable shopping here now and in the foreseeable future. A+ location!

I shop here for over 10 years and always meet decent customer service. This week I was rung out by a cashier around 7pm didnt even say hi, welcome, or bye. So I stood there in silent and you know what if he doesnt want to talk Im not going to talk to him.But yet he greet the previous customers.I dont expect 5 star greet like Id at restaurants or other businesses. This is a nice Safeway store. It has a lot, and a rather dense feel, in that they use just about every square inch to display something. Good supply of produce, groceries and extras. There is a tiny Starbucks inside so you can roam the aisles with caffeine at adequate levels and perhaps a food item, or get it on your way out.

I love visiting Safeway, each and everytime any store any location.Once I step in I always feel the latest season and holiday vibes. Theyre well stocked, look very premium, looks amazing and a very courteous staff. I especially like the bakery, meat and wine section 🤩😉.That would be an understatement, they have all the grocery, fresh produce, very good collection of ready to cook food which again I have tasted a lot. And believe me the first time when you see it, we may feel theyre a cheap version of poor mans takeaway. But honestly it aint so. Unless you take one microwave it and relax in any public chair or park and eat it will feel really very good.Truly A to Z for your personal and family needs.

I only shop here because its the closest store. All other Safeways in my area are vastly superior. They often dont have any carts. They run out of food quit a lot. They never seem to have enough cashiers and the lines can be really long. Ive requested help from the staff and either no one comes or they ignore you. This store needs a major overhaul and better staff.

I was desperately searching for a Western Union, Googles suggestions were outdated, but the new Safeway was close by. Gentleman at the door refused to talk when asked for help, but he pointed, I found the area, pushed a call button, within seconds a beautiful lady, with green eyes helped me with a smile the whole time, while multiple employees walked by wishing her a great day! Moved into the area recently, so this my new go to safeway.Having been to a lot of Safeways, this is one of standouts because the milk section seems to always be empty.I can look though the empty section into the back room and see there’s no lack of stock, but I feel like they do a terrible job of restocking it during the day.Oh and the lack of carts used to be a problem but of late it looks like that’s been improved, so I hope they can fix the milk issue as well.

This is my favorite Safeway in Santa Clara. The layout is great, its organized, and overall, pleasant to shop in. The cashiers are friendly and the deli lady hooked me up with super fresh chicken tendies even though there was already a full batch in the case. In general stay away from this store on weekdays after 5pm as it can be a zoo. The bakery staff are nice n helpful. I think its that this whole shopping center is in a decline for years. The staff for this small story is always courteous and helpful. To me, the store has always appeared clean and organized. Though, today Im second guessing the cleanliness of the store after using the restrooms. The restrooms look like something from gas station in the middle of the ghetto or the middle of nowhere. Worst bakery experience... They ruined my kids birthday cake... Heres what happened. I get there and want a customized 1/2 sheet cake but I dont find the person who actually decorates the cakes. So I leave instructions on the form and tell the person that I would come the next day. They also tell me that the decorator would call. We visited this store today evening. The store was pretty open for all. We didnt get to see any security person monitoring the store activities. There were multiple homeless people around and it was shady. The moment we entered the store we were Attacked by a stranger and somehow didnt get into further conversation and had to run out of the store immediately to save ourselves. I live in Sanjose and the stores here are pretty well maintained. This one was a terribly bad experience so far. Its scary to enter the store.

Safeway is the most expensive of any grocery store.I have bought ice cream numerous times over several times at this store. It is ALWAYS half melted when I buy it. They have their thermostat on their ice cream freezer turned way up to save money on their electric bill!!When you buy ice cream, you want it frozen to help keep it cold till you get home to put it in your freezer.I will be finding a different store to buy my ice cream as well as my groceries from now on.

Went to the register to find out if I needed a key to access the restroom but, was lied to from the older lady working the register! This location never seems to have enough registers open. Almost always a long wait in line, even at the so-called express lanes. Self-check-out is full of glitches and not consumer-friendly, often rejecting valid coupons or not understanding bar codes, and does not permit bagging items as they are rung up, which is highly inefficient and slows down the whole process. I know the company is trying to save money by reducing employees and payroll, but with this frustrating system, I strongly prefer Sprouts and Trader Joes.

This Safeway location has the worst friendly staff of all locations that I have shopped at. There are a handful of kind staff members but the % is very low. From the deli depertment not wanting to help, one of the butchers rolling his eyes after I ask for an item that was sold out on display, the self check clerk looking for a coupon in the flyer so I can get a just 4 u sale price without telling me what she is doing after it did not come up automatically with my rewards number. I had a stroke almost a year ago so I have to accept a ride to the closest supermarket.

Your going to shop here if its the closest grocery store to you. You might even shop here if theres a closer Sprouts because Safeway has more distinct vegetables and fruits.Good: This Safeway has just about every ingredient that I would want. It smells clean but not perfumed. I like being able to phone pay. Personnel, for example at the seafood department, do their best to be helpful to the customers.Bad: The self-checkout asks for employee verification so often that its slow and not really self-checkout. After work, there are more customers in lines than employees to assist or check them out. I dislike having to give Safeway my phone number to check out.

The computers went down when I was there and the staff did not know how to deal with it. They had a few register come back up. Instead of forming one line and helping customers at the working ones; they sent to customers to the end of the line for the working ones. To me this says Safeway does not train there employees well. Even the managers were just acting like it was no big deal when the customers tried to speak with them. She was claiming they were doing there best. If that is there best they might need to get some additional training.

Reminds me of my youthThe interior of this store reminds me of the grocery stores that my mother would take my sibs and I to when we were very young. The ambiance appears to have remained unchanged since the early 1970s.As far as the selection goes, I wouldnt have it changed. Sure, you can go anywhere for long lines, average prices and mediocrity. But the reason you should shun Safeway is they lock up the baby formula. You have to search the store for the one cranky person who works there and get him to extract the $7 bottle from the safe then deliver it to the checker behind a 15 minute line. Obviously you’re schlepping a baby around through all this.Someday soon this building will be an Amazon distribution center.
