This Safeway is an embattled lynchpin of the neighborhood. The good coffee is behind a locked case, the good laundry soap is behind a locked case, the good liquor is behind a locked case, there are new gates at every egress point to defend against the routine shoplifting raids that plague the city. Their produce routinely molds and expires quickly after purchase. But- if they weren’t there, I’d have to travel much further to buy the rest of my groceries over at whole paycheck. Hopefully the new gates help cut the shrink down and they’ll loosen up their grip so I don’t need a store assistant to follow me around unlocking stuff and then forget which lane it was stashed at when I get home and find it missing.

The Safeway on San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon is well stocked and has good produce. The organization takes a little getting used to. If you are going to shop at Safeway regularly, get the app on your phone. I saved 32% (almost $28) on my shopping, because of the app.

Stopped in for some snacks and soup fixings as we have some guests visiting for Halloween and ended up spending $125. Place aint cheap. Its a unionized grocer though so the staff has benefits and can make a decent living so Ill gladly pay the extra bit to know theyre being taken care of. Theres a large free parking lot in the roof with an elevator and stairs down to the store. Good quality produce and well organized, clean place

Avoid, theres always long lines. Even at the deli and self checkout line. Also I noted one of the checkout staff visibly coughing. Luckily she was wearing a mask but still she should have stayed home.Also what is the point of self checkout if you always keep it closed.

The best thing about this location is the large parking area on the roof!Take the elevator down to the store level, and you are immediately inside the store.It is super easy and convenient to take your cart back to your vehicle. The oversized elevator is perfect for multiple full-size carts, with enough space to turn around.

By far the worst grocery store in the area.- Everything is always under lock and key- I once watched an employee get shoved into a cabinet while thieves robbed liquor, and the security guard just watched.- They are now making their cashiers enter in positive reviews on the card reader on your behalf without consent.

Safeway used to be my favorite place for groceries. Now it seems like they no longer care about customers. They have just a few cashiers open so be prepared to wait in lines, their prices are no longer affordable and lots of their beauty products are locked (at least in San Francisco) so good luck waiting for someone to unlock the deodorants for you.

Absolutely terrible Safeway, avoid if you can. Awful customer service. Every time I come here there are too few Cashiers. Lines are always merging into the aisles so that everyone always feels in each others way. Employees will tell you to use the self-service but you cant purchase beer and/or wine there so that doesnt always help. And when asking someone where things are, they are rude, flippant, and dont invest interest. You feel almost like you are inconveniencing the employees. Ive also had someone say, I dont know, go look when asked for a certain product. Lines take so long that a quick trip to the store can take up to 40 minutes. Go to literally any other store if you can. Youll be glad you did.

You walk in from a sidewalk piled high with trash adjacent to a pitted and uneven street to see security guards, surveillance cameras, and plate glass in every aisle. The front end manager whose name was Leah was very unpleasant and unprofessional. My wife and I needed her assistance and she was on the phone with who knows who and the line we were in was long and the only register opened but that didnt seem to matter to this manager! She didnt want to be bothered with helping us at all and she obviously is bringing a bad name to your store! You should maybe think about replacing her! 😔

First I would like to say the staff are pleasant, Many times I am there I see young men and women together there and shop lifting and they are taking a lot and laughing going out waiting for staff to do something so they can litigate. This is upsetting to see and Im sure staff feel the same way. However the reason for my feedback is that This safeway is my neighborhood grocery store and I come and just want to get in and out. Unfortunately there has been a few times when I had to return items because they are expired. Well, I was out of coffee creamer 2 days ago and my mornings have been sad because I have not had my morning coffee! So I did a stop on my way home to safeway to get my creamer and a few other things. I get home and was excited to make myself a coffee and I opened it up and poured the creamer into my coffee and chuncks were coming out. I could not believe it, I checked checked the date on the creamer and it was expired last month. I bought my wife some Colby jack n cheddar sticks as a surprise cause she loves her cheese and she decided to check her surprise because of what happened to me and the cheese sticks were also expired. I dont always have time to check dates, why isnt someone checking dates ?

People steal from this store all the time. There are homeless and bums stealing food and alcohol almost every time I shop there. When notifying the staff about someone stealing, the staff would not do anything about it because they said they would get fire.You may wonder why that bothers me? Yes it does because the bums would eat and drink the merchandises in the store. Ive seen the bums drinking the soup from the kettle. Thats why SW stops selling them.

Im 71 years old, and I gave this place 1 star only so I could write my review. The employees here dont seem to care for Latin Americans! Theyre so rude to me! Theyre allowed to raise their voice, with attitude, at me! All I did was ask for was help reaching a small carton of Clover heavy cream, on the very top shelf, that was set back a couple of inches! Im only 5 2! I directed my plea for help to a man in the meat department, who was out from behind the counter. He wasnt wearing a name tag so I gave this description of him: He was wearing a long red apron, he was Chinese, and he was really really RUDE! He even threw a verbal profanity at me after I told him he was rude! !Wheres all the mythical Respect for Your Elders the Chinese community always says they practice??.It doesnt extend to Latinos?

Best Safeway out of all the Richmond and Sunset district Safeways. Its huge, always stocked, tons of parking and ALWAYS enough check out stands open!!!!!!! I live half a block from that poor excuse of a Safeway on Noriega street, I drive the extra 1.5 mi.es to this Safeway because its worth it to be able to pull right up to a parking spot run and get what you need because they keep their shelves stocked andc not stand in a huge line to get out.

Easy in and out. Frustratingly poor selection in some areas, but really good meat and produce. They need to do a better job at keeping the shopping basket stocked at the front door. I often have to find one at a checkout lane before I can start shopping. Prices are generally really good though, and the gas rewards draw me back.

This is the worst Safeway in town. If you have an animal support they will make you leave it at the door. I was coming to pick up my medicines and they wouldn’t allow me to get in the store. It was the worst experience, the guard started yelling at me. Never buying anything else here. D they don’t have the proper sign in the parking so I couldn’t now this stupid rule. Is like… instead of yell to homeless robbing the store she has to make me look bad, sad and humiliate me.

Ok supermarket. Not as big as the others. Toothpaste is under lock and key which bugged me. You hit a button unlock it. 10min goes by and no one shows only to be told when I flag somebody down that the button doesnt work. That was fun. They have a parking lot on top of the place which is easy to park in even with my pickup truck.

The staff is helpful and it is conveniently located in my neighborhood. However, the aisles are cramped and crowded and it doesnt carry the full selection of products available at larger Safeways. The produce is also hit or miss. Sometimes it is lovely and fresh, sometimes it is already partially spoiled on the shelves.

This Safeway location is very small compared to most stores. This size difference is reflected in the stock and a good number of items found in the other Safeway locations are noticeably missing here. The on-roof parking is convenient. My one major issue with this store is that they dont have a self checkout and never have enough people working the counters. The lines can get pretty long even when the store is not very crowded. At the busiest times the wait can be unbearable and I have had to put my groceries back and walk out a few times.

Staff often unfriendly/unhelpful, bathrooms always absolutely prutrid and full of homophobic graffiti (dont use unless absolutely desperate, it looks and smells like its cleaned maybe once every few weeks or less), and very little selection compared to most other Safeways. Have found long expired food on the shelves on multiple occasions, especially in the dairy section. Will almost never have more than 1-2 registers open even when there are huge lines that take 20 minutes to check out.

I always shop here at this Safeway. They offer a large selection of food and groceries that I like. The staff here is very friendly and some recognize me occasionally since I go there a lot. This is not a super large Safeway though, so you wont find Starbucks inside.One thing that concerns me is how often they check for expired foods. You MUST always check the packaging, especially if you dont know you will finish on time. Sometimes on occasion I will find food that is already expired still sitting on the shelf (meat products, etc). Just make sure you check every package before you buy. The groceries are usually pretty fresh though. The lines can tend to get long at certain times of the day (after school, after work, etc), and they dont always open new checkout lines right away.

Cannot believe they only had one checker at night had 12 people standing in front of me this place must have new management it’s really going downhill.If you watch and noticed they have stopped spraying and cleaning the conveyor belt and the key registers for the clerk.The keypad where everybody touches their fingers and swipe their card no longer gets sprayed and cleaned down anymore the bottles of spray alcohol have all disappeared.You would think they would be on top of their health and safety game being that this was the Safeway we’re nearly there entire night crew of stocking employees got Covid.Definitely something has changed recently in the way they run the store.It doesn’t matter whether they keep the floors clean and polished and everything neat and tidy that’s just for show. The parking is this Safeway is on the roof. From there you can take the stairs or elevator to the ground floor. They have a small floral department, deli counter, a pharmacy and customer service desk. The customer service desk takes forever because theres never anyone there. The store is pretty busy most of the time. Theyre also very slow at ringing you up and is much better if you pack your own groceries to save time. The cashiers at very friendly here and if youre a regular theyll remember you.

This is a smaller Safeway and the selection is minimal compared to other locations. There is a parking lot located behind the store that you can enter from the side street to the right of the store. Otherwise there is street parking in front. Convenient for picking up basics, but as I said you wont a wide variety of items, big floral dept., bank or Starbucks inside here.

I hate this place. The only reason I go hear is because of convenience. I live only a few blocks away. Every time I go here for milk for my kids, they are out. I have told them repeatedly that they need to stock more half gallon DHA Horizon milk but they never fix their inventory. Another time I came late at night. After waiting in line for 15 minutes because they only had one register open, I tried using the elevator to get back to my car on the roof. The manager closed the elevator early so that no more customers would come in right at closing time. The store was still open for another 5 minutes. I ended up having to roll the shopping cart out the other door around the block, up the driveway and onto the roof of the building. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

This medium-sized Safeway store has the standard selection of groceries, including a large fruits & vegetables aisle, with lots of organic options. The adult beverages section also has excellent variety, with lots of discounts. There is also a pharmacy in the back.The staff is friendly, but the checkout aisles get crowded very quickly, especially on busy days. Parking on the roof is also a little inconvenient, but at least you can usually get a space.

Not bad selection of groceries. Just went shopping and saw an insane Chinese dude with a tinted mask on directly cutting in the checkout line in front of two people. I said excuse me a couple times and he didnt turn around, so I gently touched him with a Reynold wrap because I didnt wanna touch his jacket. He turned around and immediately started screaming at me dont hit me!. I was baffled because nobody in their right mind wouldve confused a gentle touch with hitting and immediately started screaming. So I told him I gently touched him and explained that he cut in line in front of two people. And I told him I said excused me multiple times but he didnt even move at all. He continued to scream Why did you hit me and made a huge scene, then checked out in front of the two people he cut in line in front of. The clerks didnt do anything about it.

This Safeway is a great example of a neighborhood grocer, regardless of the fact that it is part of a major (originally a Bay Area based, local) corporation. The pictures do not reflect upon the store itself, the employees, nor the quality of the goods); they are meant to bring attention to the fact that when one allows an area to become this trashed, to be used in such a way, youd better start getting used to the fact that the stairwell will be more thannjust a toilet for emergencies, or a changing room after a professional boosting team--It is also, maybe more commonly, A DOPE SPOT!

It’s so damn wonderful being called a thief when you go in there, especially when you’re shopping for Instacart, for example you want deodorant and they have it locked up & I need to scan it, so I can mark it found for Instacart and they are already accusing you of stealing it, they won’t let you have it and they hold it for you up at the register … other Safeway’s don’t do this, they let you take it in your cart while you’re still shopping

While visiting my son, in the Taraval District of San Francisco, I decided togo grocery shopping-(wanted to cook for him, while I was staying at hisplace.) The nearest Grocery Store, was a Safeway, a few blocks from hishouse. It was a Saturday 7/20/19. The store was packed with long lines ofcustomers, waiting to be checked out. The whole scene was truly chaoticand crazy. I felt sorry for the checkers, as clearly, they were overworked and stressed. I also, felt sorry for the customers including myself, as wewere having to wait a long time, to get out of the store. Shopping, is stressful to begin with and, to have to wait because there are not enoughemployees to take care of the customers, is not a good way to run a business. Safeways around the State, need to check well, on what thereviews are saying. I am meeting people every day, who have becomedisenchanted with Safeway. The shopping experience, the prices, thelack of employees to help out, at the checkout stands, these are justa few of the complaints that I have heard. Safeway, may be a big organization but, sooner or later, if the customers keep being inconvenienced or, are upset for some other matter, Safeway, is going tofeel the pain. Grocery Stores are needed, as people, will always have toeat but, surely the Higher Ups at Safeways Head Office, must recognizethe value of good customer relations and how by word of mouth, abusiness- any business, can be damaged. They need to start appreciatingthe people, who frequent their stores and give them good service, fair prices and a sense of order, when they enter their stores.When I first arrived in America, the first Grocery Store, I shopped at, wasa Safeway, in the Mission District of SF. It makes me feel almost sad, tohave to write a bad review but, my experience last week, was justawful. The two stars I have given the store, is all that it deserves.

Putting your phone number into the keypad doesnt work. You have to have a card and if you dont have one, the cashiers dont try to help unless you specifically ask them for another card and then they look surprised that you would think of that. We couldnt find a basket anywhere in the store and the employees looked confused as to where they all went. All of the registers arent open when they should be and no one asked me if I needed help, or hand me a small basket when I was struggling. Overall bad experience here.

Its a Safeway, so they are pretty much like any other Safeway Ive visited. This one is a bit smaller and doesnt have as many products as the Safeway on Church and Market does, but its convenient if you live close. Finding out the gift card was not the only thing i was purchasing she swiped her card a second time. Hit finish & pay. She walked over to her own register where the card wouldnt scan at all. After 5 attempts of trying to explain that it scanned just fine on the other machine i went to go stand in yet another line that was twice as long as the first since they only had 3 cashiers open.

There are never enough checkout stations open. They should convert some into self checkout like the Noriega Safeway. It took me 5 min. there whereas Taraval Safeway would have taken me 15 min. Also, there is now a homeless guy sitting by the elevator. The workers at Taraval are more friendly that Noriega though.

This is my favorite safeway. we got a rubix cube out of the gumball machine in the 1980s. there was even a hick country person here in the 1990s and expressed p od feelings toward me and my mom and i said something somewhat stupid. but then he didnt get mad after that maybe surprised that i could talk. the food isnt that good at safeway in general. i like the toll house brand of sugar and i like the lucerne brand in the 1980s. i dont like their in house organic brand that much. i am trying to get a vegetarian food product onto the shelves and give it away for free
