You wouldn’t attempt to give yourself a physical or fly your own airplane (for the most part) so why would you think you should interpret the tax code on your own and file taxes in the dark? Stephen Hall has been doing my taxes for years and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with an important task like that. He is patient, knowledgeable and incredibly efficient. He and his excellent team will organize and decipher the most complex of paperwork and process it painlessly so that everything can be handled online. His prices are competitive yet they provide only the top-notch service to make tax time less intimidating and much more manageable and even enjoyable. This is the kind of company that stands behind their work and treats their employees like family. They truly are the best of the best…

I had a complimentary phone meeting with Candice and she was FANTASTIC! My partner and I had a few questions about minimizing our taxes and she thoroughly and expertly answered them all. Ive been a client of Robert Hall and Associates for over ten years, trusting them with my taxes – two personal and two company returns annually. Mike Watson (+ his team), one of their top tax advisers, consistently provides exceptional service and advice. With Mike, I feel confident that my taxes are being handled in the most competent way. Tony Watson has been our tax preparer for more than 5 years and he has exceeded our expectation in his knowledge, communication, and professionalism. We have full trust in him that he will handle our taxes in the best way possible, helping us understand complex tax laws as well as providing appropriate tax advice to help us with our tax planning. We have gone through a sale of business last year which he helped us a lot in ensuring we handle taxes the best way possible, while continuing to prepare our personal and two of our business tax returns. Cannot recommend him enough and have referred our friends to him over the years knowing once you become his client, your taxes will be in excellent care.

Robert Hall was a decent a firm but it has gone downhill. Do not work with them. They are expensive, unprofessional, and bureaucratic to the point of total dysfunction. The tax preparers are only useful during your once annual tax season phone call and even during that, they will be rude and unprofessional. The tax preparers are otherwise impossible to reach by phone or by email. You should anticipate every tax question that may come up during the off-season, and then ask it during your annual call, because you will have to bend into a pretzel to reach your tax preparer at any other time. When you call the general Robert Hall phone line, you will reach a desk operator who will connect you to your tax preparers assistant. The assistants will be useless. For example, I spoke to an assistant yesterday about a question. The assistant said that he would speak to my tax preparer and tell her to get back to me. I called today to follow up and the assistant had absolutely no recollection of our call - leading me to believe that my message was never relayed to my tax preparer. I told the assistant that I also followed up with my tax preparer by email - he said he would look for my emails in her inbox and then said that he could not find them (even though I sent two delivered emails.) To make matters worse, even in the rare situation where you do get a call back or an email back from your tax preparer, they will be unprofessional on the phone and become audibly frustrated with you for not understanding the inner workings of taxes and payroll. They will speak to you in a way that you cannot understand even as a professional with a doctorate. Stay away.

My wife and I have decided to file our taxes with the Robert Hall firm and it has been a really pleasant experience - from the reception, to the service, to the knowledgeable and valuable input they give to their clients. I had a complimentary tax consultation, and was very impressed. Based on the consult, Im signing up with them. While they are focused on minimizing your taxes, they are also straight-forward when it comes time to saying No to a particular strategy if its just not sound. I really appreciate that.
